Goldy's Cheap Tricks! Plan Your Trips!

I remember reading how UPS drivers are given routes with only right-hand turns to maximize time and money. I thought about it and tried it. By doing that you weren't waiting at stop lights to make that left-hand turn but rather planned your trips in a circle of right-hand turns to get the most bang for your buck.

Well, we can't always plan everything precisely we can put as many errands in one block of time as possible.

Sometimes my OCD has me needing to get up and go outside wanting to just run a needless errand just to do it. I walk around the house a few laps and then go back to work. It saves me so much time and money when I plan what errands can easily go together in close proximity to each other.

Take out your notepad on your phone or even an Old fashioned paper one and make a list of the places you need to go. When you actually write it out you can really see how you can save the most time.

Give yourself back the needed minutes to organize, clean something up at your house or spend extra time with your family. Once you start practicing this I promise you'll see a huge difference!

Here is a simple way you can save between $500-$2,000 per year: drink water when you eat out.

Americans eat out about five times per week according to the National Restaurant Association. That can be fast food or your favorite restaurant to hang with some Golden Peeps at lunch.

Most folks order a drink with their meal, usually a pop or even drinks more expensive these days. Everyone is on the barista kick, even me. I'm trying to not make it such a habit and do the following instead. DRINK WATER!

So how much can you really save? I'm talking regular water people not the sparkly kind. Let's assume the drink is $2.00. Even though we know it's usually way more than that. The average person spends $10/week, or about $500/year, on soda when eating out. To take it a step further, a couple spends about $1,000/year, and a family of four spends about $2,000/year on drinks when they eat out. That’s a lot of money sitting on the table!

When I go to the fancy coffee shops I DO love my chai lattes, no foam, no water, no room, and 2 extra shots of chai. Don't get me wrong. But many times I just ask for a large ice water and let my friends indulge. My pocketbook is happy with this occasional swap but so is what's in the pants that hold the pockets!

I literally GO TO THE ATM, take OUT the money I'd SPEND on lunch, put it in an envelope and hide it from myself. I then eat my packed lunch. When it Saves to Suck!!!

Buy the broken and bruised "clearance" fruits and veggies. I peel my going bad bananas, put in a zip lock, suck & seal! Bananas are like .39 a pound going bad! Put them in bread, smoothies, pancakes, protein pancakes... the list is endless. Who cares if they were a little brown.

Do this with ANY food you can freeze!
