Everything You Need to Know About the Chulgiri Trek
Tumblr media
Chulgiri jain temple is surrounded by the Aravalli range, which gives you a beautiful and captivating view from the top of the hill. It is a proper blend of adventure, beautiful nature, and religiosity. Chulgiri Trek Hill is one of the most attractive places in Jaipur. Jains particularly regard Chulgiri as one of the holiest and most well-known locations in the world because a stunning white-marbled Jain temple sits perched atop the hill. Its most attractive thing is its calm nature, which gives you a soothing feeling.
Chulgiri Jain Temple
Tumblr media
In 1953, Acharya Shri Desh Bhushan Ji founded the Chulgiri Jain temple. When he reached this place, seeking peace to engage in serious meditation, and because of the area’s peace and quiet, he ultimately chose to conduct soul-searching. Following that, he constructed the “Chulgiri” Jain temple.
About Chulgiri Hills
Nestled in the Aravalli hills, next to the Ghat Ki Guni tunnel, lies the temple dedicated to Chulgiri. This is the peak of the Chulgiri trek Mountains. There are a thousand steps leading up to the temple. In 1966, sculptors created three white stone statues representing Shree Parshavnath, the Tirthankars, and Neminath. During renovations, installers added 24 additional Tirthankars and a water tank to collect prayer water. Then, in 1982, builders erected a 65-foot dome and one of Mahaveer Swami’s tallest statues, standing around 21 feet tall and carved from a single piece of white stone. Craftsmen use white marble to create this stunning temple, which features exquisite and unique decorations.
Chulgiri temple has diverse flora and fauna, as well as many plants, animals, and birds. Indrajeet and Kumbhakaran are believed to have prayed and meditated here in ancient times. It is a unique and historic palace if you follow Jainism. This temple is one of the famous sightseeing places in Jaipur, providing you with a magnificent view from the top. The Aravali ranges encircling the temple make it more beautiful. The Jain Chulgiri temple is a digambara shrine. Walking up to the temple is quite thrilling.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
India, a land of diverse cultures, vibrant colors, and deep-rooted history, has long captivated the hearts of travelers. Among the many routes that offer a deep dive into the cultural richness of India, the Golden Triangle Tour stands out as one of the most iconic. This tour, typically covering Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, gives a glimpse into the grandeur of India’s past and its present vibrancy. But when you add the Golden Temple in Amritsar to the itinerary, the experience becomes even more remarkable.
Let’s take a closer look at what the Golden Triangle with Golden Temple Tour offers.
Delhi – The Capital City of Contrasts
Delhi, the bustling capital of India, is the first point of the Golden Triangle. This city is an amalgamation of modernity and history. As you traverse through its streets, you'll encounter a harmonious blend of colonial architecture, ancient monuments, and futuristic skyscrapers.
Begin your tour with a visit to the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of India’s rich Mughal past. Then head to Qutub Minar, another architectural marvel. The Humayun’s Tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal, offers a peaceful break from the city's bustle. Don't miss the India Gate, a war memorial standing proudly in the heart of the city, or the beautiful Lotus Temple.
Old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk is a chaotic yet charming maze of narrow lanes where you can savor some of the best street food and shop for traditional Indian goods.
Agra – The City of the Taj Mahal
The second stop in the Golden Triangle is Agra, home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal. This white marble mausoleum, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, is a symbol of eternal love and an architectural masterpiece that draws millions of visitors annually.
Besides the Taj Mahal, Agra is also home to the Agra Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Itimad-ud-Daulah’s Tomb, often referred to as the "Baby Taj". For those interested in Mughal history and architecture, these landmarks provide a deeper understanding of Agra’s historical significance.
Jaipur – The Pink City of Rajasthan
The last city in the Golden Triangle is Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital, also known as the Pink City for its stunning pink-hued buildings. Jaipur offers a royal experience with its majestic forts, palaces, and vibrant markets.
Start your visit at the Amber Fort, a magnificent hilltop fort offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) is another iconic structure, famous for its intricate latticework that allowed royal women to observe street festivities while remaining unseen. The City Palace and the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory, add further charm to Jaipur’s royal heritage.
Explore the colorful bazaars of Jaipur, where you can shop for traditional Rajasthani handicrafts, jewelry, and textiles.
Amritsar – The Sacred City of the Golden Temple
After exploring the Golden Triangle, the tour takes a spiritual turn as you head to Amritsar, home to the Golden Temple, the holiest shrine of Sikhism. Also known as Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple is a symbol of humility and equality. Its serene atmosphere and stunning golden façade reflect in the surrounding water, creating a breathtaking sight.
The Langar (community kitchen) at the temple offers free meals to thousands of visitors every day, embodying the Sikh principles of selfless service and sharing.
While in Amritsar, a visit to the Jallianwala Bagh memorial is a poignant reminder of India’s struggle for independence. The Wagah Border ceremony, held at the India-Pakistan border, is another popular attraction, offering a unique display of military drills and national pride.
Conclusion
The Golden Triangle with Golden Temple Tour offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and spirituality. From the chaotic yet enchanting streets of Delhi, the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal in Agra, the regal charm of Jaipur, to the spiritual solace at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, this tour encapsulates the essence of India.

The Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib, located in Amritsar is a symbol of spiritual solace and humanitarian service. With architectural beauty, it is also popular for the practice of Langar, or the community kitchen. Every day, the “world’s largest kitchen” serves thousands of people with free hot meals without any caste, religion, and social barriers.
What’s so Special About Langar at the Golden Temple?
While most religions have rituals involving free food, what separates the Langar of the Golden Temple is the scale and organization. Shri Harmandir Sahib serves out approximately 50,000 to 100,000 meals every day, that even doubles during festivals or any religious events.
This huge operation is an evident that Sikhs believe in equality and community service. People from all backgrounds come together to sit and have a meal at single place. It is a statement of the power of compassion and community.
The Origins of Langar: A 15th-Century Vision of Equality
The tradition of langar began in the 15th century by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, as he established Sikhism. He introduced it in a way to promote equality and selflessness, where no one was left without food. Later, the third Sikh Guru, Guru Amar Das Ji, organized this practice, to ensure food security for all, especially the underprivileged.
The Langar at the Golden Temple embodies these values, offering nourishment both physically and spiritually. The Langar, feeding everyone who comes there, represents the Sikhs two fundamental principles, which they call it as “seva” (selfless service) and “equality”.
Book a Coach for Your Next Trip to Amritsar with Family
How Does the Golden Temple Langar Operate?
The Langar in Golden Temple runs 24 hours a day without breaks. This is reflected by the hard core efforts of the sevadars who volunteer their time and energy toward cooking, cleaning, and serving people. No other food service is there like this one that hires contracted caterers. It is entirely conducted by volunteers, giving a sense of community and selflessness.
On an average day, the Langar uses:
100 quintals of wheat flour
25 quintals of lentils
10 quintals of rice
5 quintals of pure ghee
5,000 liters of milk
In addition, a chapati-making machine, gifted by a generous devotee from Lebanon, produces 25,000 rotis in an hour. Volunteers prepare the meal and clean up the dining area. It is through this service that the community’s commitment towards this incredible cause.
What does “Guru ka Langar” symbolize?
Langar is not just a meal; it represents unity, humility, and connection to the divine. People here sit side by side, regardless of social status, and share the same food demolishes the barriers of class and caste. The Langar embodies the Sikh ethos of equality and compassion, creating a space where everyone is seen as an equal.
It is widely believed that Langar preparation and serving is worship. Sikhism teaches that feeding others cleans one’s soul. One feels a connection to the divine when extending his/her hands in seva.
A Modern-Day Miracle of Compassion
Nowadays, nearly every Gurdwara in the world runs a Langar. The Langar itself is simply a reflection of values and spirit of the Golden Temple’s kitchen. The tradition of Daswandh, giving 10% of what you earn, to community welfare is also followed by Sikhs. Langar is thus one of the most sacred and precious acts of worship practiced in Sikhism.
Ready to go about experiencing Langar?
The Langar in the Golden Temple is an experience not so common in the worldly cultures, and every traveler should witness it at least once. Indian Travel Package offers custom-made itineraries for international visits if you wish to visit the Golden Temple and experience the Langar firsthand. Indian Travel Package serves various clients worldwide such as clients from countries like the USA, UK, Canada, Singapore, Australia, and India with multilingual support and special tours.

History of Golden Temple
The foundation of Golden Temple/ Sri Harmandir Sahib was started from a thought to create a central place of worship for all Sikhs. With this thought in mind, Guru Arjan Sahib, the Fifth Nanak, designed the architecture of the Golden Temple. Guru Amardas Sahib, third Nanak, chalked the layout of Amrit Sarovar (Amritsar).

This accumulated land was around 217 km northwest of Chandigarh, 455 km northwest of New Delhi, 28 km from the India-Pakistan border, and 47 km northeast of Lahore, Pakistan. After that foundation stone was placed by Guru Arjan Sahib and laid by Saint Hazrat Mian Mir Ji in December 1588, other devoted Sikhs, including Baba Budha Ji, Bhai Gurdas Ji, and Bhai Sahlo Ji, assisted her, and the construction was completed in 1601 AD on Bhadon Sudi 1st of Vikram Sanvat 1661.
After the completion work was over, Guru Granth Sahib, the first holy book of the Sikh community, was placed in it, and Baba Budha Ji was appointed as the first Granthi ‘Reader of the Holy Book.’ After this event, Amritsar got the status of ‘Ath Sath Tirath’- the national pilgrim center for Sikhs.

The temple is well recognized for accepting individuals from all backgrounds, and its keepers, known as Granthis, always extend a friendly greeting to guests. The Golden Temple is known for being a religious place for Sikhs and a famous attraction known for its stunning appearance and religious significance. It is made of actual gold and surrounds a man-made pool believed to have healing properties. Upon entering, visitors can feel a sense of peace. Regardless of religion, everyone is given Karah Prasad, a sweet dish made from wheat flour, sugar, and ghee. When you book the Golden Temple tour package and visit the temple, you can experience the temple's langar service which provides free meals around the clock, allowing visitors to reflect on life and the world in the company of people from various backgrounds.
Let’s know the history of the Golden Temple:
Those who are not familiar with medieval India will find the history of the Golden Temple to be quite complex. The process started when Amar Das, the third Sikh Guru, was instructed to look for a suitable place for the artificial pool that would subsequently be given the name Guru da Chakk. In the 16th century, his successor Ram Das paid Rs. 700 to purchase the site on which the temple would be built. Arjan, the fifth Guru, who was subsequently killed during the Mughal Empire, constructed the temple in accordance with Sikh ideals. The temple was rebuilt by Maharaja Ranjit, and although it was destroyed in Operation Blue Star in 1984—which led to rioting and the deaths of innocent people—it was eventually restored.
The temple has maintained its sacredness ever since. To understand this in depth consider booking Golden Temple tour packages which will give sufficient exposure to everything.
Planning a visit to the Golden Temple soon? Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Both men and women must cover their heads with a scarf or handkerchief before entering the shrine.
If you don't have a headcover, there are free scarves available inside the temple complex.
Shoes must be taken off and placed in the cloakroom for free.
Alcohol and other intoxicating drugs, including cigarettes and tobacco products, are prohibited.
Avoid using soap or shampoo if you wish to swim in the pond.
Respectful clothing is recommended.
Visitors must maintain good hygiene and sanitation practices.
The ideal time to visit the Golden Temple:
Sikhs believe any time is good to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, but it's best to go between November and March. It can get cold, so bring warm clothes. The Gurudwara is open all day. While this is often true, it's still essential to plan your 2-day Amritsar and Golden Temple tour from Delhi according to the ideal time of the year.
Few places to visit in Amritsar after seeking blessings at the Golden Temple:
Amritsar is a vibrant city with many things to do and see, especially around the Golden Temple. There are plenty of tourist attractions, events, and markets to keep you busy all year long. The locals are full of energy and it may take some getting used to. Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah Border and Partition Museum are a few places that you can explore in your Golden Temple tour packages.
Everyone should get the opportunity to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar at least once in their lifetime. So make sure to start making travel plans right away to avoid missing out on a trip that will be blissful.

Golden Temple Tour
The Sikhs' holiest city of Amritsar is where the Golden Temple is located. The entire golden dome of the Golden Temple, one of the most respected Sikh pilgrimage sites, is famous. The Mandir is a two-story structure that is built on a 67-foot-square marble slab. Using around 400 kilograms of gold leaf, Maharaja Ranjit Singh built the structure's upper level. The Golden Temple is surrounded by a large number of other well-known temples, including the Durgiana Temple. The fourth Sikh guru, Guru Ram Das, founded the Golden Temple, popularly referred to as the Harmandir Sahib, in Amritsar after initially constructing a pool there. In this place, Sage Valmiki wrote the epic Ramayana. Rama and Sita's fourteen-year exile is believed to have occurred in Amritsar, Sikhism's epicenter. To the south of the temple are a garden and Baba Atal's tower. Central Sikh Museum is located atop the clock tower. 20,000 people receive free meals from the "Guru Ka Langar" each day. When significant events occur, the number can reach 100,000. A visitor must cover his or her head before entering the temple premises. The Granth Sahib is kept at both the Akal Takht, popularly known as the Eternal Throne, and the Temple throughout the day. The Akal Takht also houses the ancient weapons used by the Sikh troops. The founder was Guru Hargobind. It is said that the stolid old Jubi Tree in the northwest corner of the compound possesses exceptional powers. It was first planted 450 years ago by Baba Buddha, the first high priest of the Golden Temple. Everyone who enters the temple complex is provided free meals at the communal canteen, known as Guru-ka-Langar, regardless of their race, creed, caste, or gender. Visitors must remove their shoes and cover their heads before entering the Golden Temple. Weekend early mornings are less congested in the temple.
