Phosphoric Acid Market Growth And Demand by 2030
Increasing need for the production of fertilizers and rising need for wastewater treatment are the key factors driving market revenue growth
The global Phosphoric Acid Market size was USD 48.75 Billion in 2021 and is expected to register a revenue CAGR of 3.8% over the forecast period, according to the latest report by Reports and Data. Market revenue growth is expected to be driven by the growing use of phosphoric acid in the electronics and food & beverage industry.
Electronic-grade phosphoric acid is used in the electronics industry as an etchant to produce semiconductors such as flash memory and Integrated Circuits (ICs), as well as a dopant for producing different types of solar cells. Phosphoric acid is used to make Flat Panel Displays (FPD) for computers, televisions, and mobile phones as well as fuel cells. In addition, the food and beverage industry uses phosphoric acid as a food additive. It is mainly used as a preservative to give food products a strong flavor. The most popular way to ingest it is through soft drinks. Furthermore, the increasing use of phosphoric acid in various bottled teas, punches, sports drinks, and fruit-flavored drinks is also boosting the demand for phosphoric acid. In order to change the proteins and modify the pH value to produce a higher-quality product, the salts of phosphoric acid are also used in a variety of dairy products. These factors are expected to drive market revenue growth during the forecast period.

Top Companies: Clariant, CF Industries Holdings, Inc., Brenntag GmbH, Arkema, Nutrien Ltd., J.R. Simplot Company, UPL, EuroChem Group, Solvay, and LANXESS.
Further key findings from the report suggest:
Wet process segment is expected to register a rapid revenue growth rate during the forecast period owing to increasing use in the production of phosphate fertilizers. The impurities in wet-process acid promote super cooling and reduce the tendency for crystallization, which is expected to contribute to the segment's revenue growth.
The technical grade segment is expected to register a rapid revenue growth rate during the forecast period. Technical grades are used in plant nutrition applications to provide precise and targeted fortification with water-soluble solutions. Increasing use of these chemicals in metal finishing (rust moving), beverages and food are expected to drive the revenue growth of the segment.
Offline segment is expected to account for the largest revenue share over the forecast period owing to the increasing need for checking the quality of goods. Offline channels are the first choice for rural consumers because they don't have access to e-commerce sites. Also, instant delivery and a personalized experience are expected to boost the revenue growth of the segment.
Phosphate segment is expected to account for the largest revenue share over the forecast period. Increasing need for phosphate salts in fertilizers has led to an increase in demand for phosphoric acid. Also, phosphoric acid is used in reducing soluble copper and lead in potable water supplied to the consumer.
The agriculture segment is expected to register a steady revenue growth rate during the forecast period owing to the increasing need for a rich source of phosphorous for plants. Phosphoric acid is primarily used to make fertilizers. Essentially, it is converted into three phosphate salts for use as fertilizers, such as Triple Superphosphate (TSP), Diammonium Hydrogen Phosphate (DAP), and Monoammonium Dihydrogen Phosphate (MAP).
Market in Asia Pacific is expected to account for the largest revenue share in the global market during the forecast period. Rapid growth rate of the market is attributed to the increasing presence of healthcare and pharmaceutical companies in the region. Phosphoric acid in the healthcare industry and pharmaceutical industry are used to manufacture anti-nausea medicines. In addition, the increasing adoption of agricultural practices in countries like India and China has also led to a rise in the use of phosphoric acid in fertilizers.

Food for thought
At last week's Data Bites, I noted how 'Wales' is a standard unit of area. This week, along comes a map which shows that all the built-up land in the UK is equivalent to one Wales:
Tumblr media
The map is from the National Food Strategy, published yesterday (and the man has a point).
It has divided opinion, judging by the responses to this tweet. I understand where the sceptics are coming from - at first glance, it may be confusing, given Wales isn't actually entirely built up, Cornwall made of peat, or Shetland that close to the mainland (or home to all the UK's golf courses). And I'm often critical of people using maps just because the data is geographical in some way, when a different, non-map visualisation would be better.
But I actually think this one works. Using a familiar geography to represent areas given over to particular land use might help us grasp it more readily (urban areas = size of Wales, beef and lamb pastures = more of the country than anything else). It's also clear that a huge amount of overseas land is needed to feed the UK, too.
The map has grabbed people's attention and got them talking, which is no bad thing. And it tells the main stories I suspect its creators wanted to. In other words, it's made those messages... land.
Trash talk
Happy Take Out The Trash Day!
Yesterday saw A LOT of things published by Cabinet Office - data on special advisers, correspondence with parliamentarians, public bodies and major projects to name but a few, and the small matter of the new plans outlining departmental priorities and how their performance will be measured.
It's great that government is publishing this stuff. It's less great that too much of it still involves data being published in PDFs not spreadsheets. And it's even less great that the ignoble tradition of Take Out The Trash Day continues, for all the reasons here (written yesterday) and here (written in 2017).
I know this isn't (necessarily) deliberate, and it's a lot of good people working very hard to get things finished before the summer (as my 2017 piece acknowledges). And it's good to see government being transparent.
But it's 2021, for crying out loud. The data collection should be easier. The use of this data in government should be more widespread to begin with.
We should expect better.
In other news:
I was really pleased to have helped the excellent team at Transparency International UK (by way of some comments on a draft) with their new report exploring access and influence in UK housing policy, House of Cards. Read it here.
One of our recent Data Bites speakers, Doug Gurr, is apparently in the running to run the NHS. More here.
Any excuse to plug my Audrey Tang interview.
The good folk at ODI Leeds/The Data City/the ODI have picked up and run with my (and others') attempt to map the UK government data ecosystem. Do help them out.
Five years ago this week...
Regarding last week's headline of Three Lines on a Chart: obviously I was going to.
Have a great weekend

Simple Stress-Busting Strategies That Deliver.
It’s often said that the past is a foreign country. That certainly applies to the world of work. From the perspective of our relentless 24/7 business culture today, the old days of nine-to-five shifts and three-martini lunches look about as mysterious and decadent as the lives of the late Roman emperors. Today, it’s hard enough switching off in your free time, never mind during office hours!
That’s hardly surprising. After all, the mid-twentieth century and the present are, technologically speaking, light-years apart. Innovations like the internet, email and smartphones have made it harder than ever before to get away from work. If you have an iPhone, your boss is always right there in your pocket waiting for you to open that email she sent at 10:00 p.m.
And that’s starting to take its toll. Professionals have never been so stressed and sleep-deprived. They’re unhappier, less productive and staring down the barrel of burnout. So it’s high time to make some changes! This post walks you through a series of simple, stress-busting strategies and explains the science behind them. Start integrating them into your professional life today, and you’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll soon feel.
Life is becoming increasingly hectic, and stress levels are on the rise.
There’s no sugarcoating it – life has become more stressful. Getting up at six, grinding out a grueling shift at the metaphorical coalface and collapsing into bed at eleven in the evening is the new normal. But it wasn’t always like this. In fact, things have gotten a whole lot crazier over the last decade.
So, what’s behind our increasingly hectic work lives? Well, let’s rewind to 2008. The economy was in freefall, and companies were scrambling to adjust to the harsh new realities. Lots of companies only managed to survive by downsizing their staff and restructuring workloads. The result was fewer people shouldering a whole lot more than their fair share of responsibilities.
Then there’s the smartphone. Apple launched its first iPhone in 2007. Soon enough, it had taken over the world. According to a 2012 study in the MIT Technology Review, the iPhone conquered 40 percent of the American mobile phone market within just a couple of years. That’s pretty astonishing when you consider the fact that it took computers fourteen years to achieve anything close to that level of market penetration.
The problem, however, is that smartphones don’t just make life more convenient and fun. Sure, you can check Instagram and send tweets, but this also means you’re always on standby mode. Your work is never more than a click away. A 2013 study carried out by the Center for Creative Leadership highlighted this trend. The surveyed executives and managers with smartphones spent an astonishing 72 hours every week engaged in work-related activities!
That’s not sustainable. When work gets too hectic, our stress levels shoot through the roof. According to a study by the American Psychological Association, 33 percent of all Americans suffered acute work-related stress in 2013, while 48 percent claimed that their stress levels had increased over the previous five years.
A full 83 percent of interviewees in the study believed that stress was negatively affecting their health. They’re not wrong! When the Benson-Henry Institute in Massachusetts looked into the matter, they found that between 60 and 90 percent of all trips to the doctor were stress-related.
Practicing mindfulness counteracts the natural fight-or-flight response triggered by stress.
Have you ever had the urge to jump out of your office chair, run right out the door and never come back? That’s a pretty good sign you might be suffering from work-related stress. The desire to flee is one of the body’s natural responses to stress. That’s part of the “fight-or-flight” response, a cerebral and hormonal reaction to life-endangering events. Here’s how it works.
Imagine someone jumps out from behind a corner with a weapon. Your brain – or, more precisely, the command center of your brain known as the thalamus – is the first to react. This, in turn, triggers the amygdala, the part of the brain responsible for processing emotions. This then activates the hypothalamus, the area in charge of regulating the autonomic nervous system, which transmits a message to your adrenal glands. These start pumping out adrenaline – a hormone that prepares your body to react quickly and, if need be, violently. Once it runs out of adrenaline, your body switches to cortisol, another hormone with a similar effect.
This reaction makes you more alert and prepares you to fight or flee. Strange as it may sound, a difficult boss or impossible deadlines are just as likely to trigger this response as a knife-wielding maniac. That’s a problem. If you’re sitting in your office producing adrenaline and cortisol for hours on end, this creates a hormonal imbalance that can be damaging to your health.
So here’s a great tip: learn to beat the fight-or-flight reaction by practicing mindfulness. A quick and dirty mindfulness routine involves nothing more than focusing on your breathing. Take ten deep breaths followed by a pause, and you’ll already feel a lot better.
The second option requires a bit more practice, but it’s an invaluable anti-stress tool: meditation. That’s not just good for your mental well-being – it’s also good for your physical health. That’s the conclusion of a 2000 study by Herbert Benson, a professor at Harvard Medical School. It showed that regular meditation could actually shrink the size of the amygdala and thus counteract that unwanted stress response!
The best way to minimize stress is to develop a supportive daily work rhythm.
You’ve probably heard the old Chinese proverb that says giving a man a fish feeds him for a day, but teaching him to fish feeds him for a lifetime. That’s also a good motto when it comes to stress reduction. Quick fixes like nipping out for a coffee have their uses, especially when you’re in a pinch, but the best way to minimize stress is to develop a long-term anti-stress plan.
Here’s an idea: start by trying to work out a supportive daily work rhythm. That’s precisely what Hilton Hotels CEO Chris Nassetta did. In his case, that involved getting up earlier to free up time to mull over his day’s responsibilities. Nassetta gets up at five every morning and aims to be in the office by six at the latest. Since his work officially only starts somewhere between eight and nine, that gives him at least two hours to prepare for the day ahead. The upshot? He can think through his tasks without losing focus or worrying about what’s coming up later. Rather than drifting off in the middle of a conversation because he’s worried about what he’ll say in an upcoming meeting, he can be fully present and engage with the people he’s talking to.
It’s worth noting at the outset that you won’t always pull off your ideal work rhythm. In practice, you’ll have to be flexible and roll with the punches. Take it from Crystal Cooper, the vice president for public representation at global IT company Unisys. She initially resented the demands her work placed on her schedule. No wonder – being on call 24/7 is pretty intense! But after a while, she decided to go with the flow and adapt her expectations. Rather than planning to spend two hours of quality time with her family between seven and nine in the evening, she made sure she fit those hours in whenever the chance presented itself throughout the day.
Having clear routines and feedback systems supports you both personally and professionally.
Imagine you had to summon all your willpower to do even the most mundane tasks, like brushing your teeth or tying your shoelaces. Life would be unbearably exhausting, right? Luckily the human mind has an autopilot function that helps you do these things without wasting too much brainpower. And here’s the thing – you can get the most out of that nifty cerebral technology by cultivating routines. That’s good news for your personal life.
So, how can you start putting that into practice? Well, there are three words you need to remember: cue, routine and reward.
Let’s take Patricia as an example to see how it works. Jeff met Patricia at a workshop, where she told him about a routine she’d developed. When she got home from work, she entered her house through a side door that leads to a small washroom. That was her cue to take out her phone and plug it into the charger attached to a socket above the washing machine – that’s the routine part. Once she’d done that, she could spend the evening with her family, free from all distractions – that’s the reward. Because the reward was something she genuinely enjoyed, the routine was quickly established.
What about work, though? Well, if you want to improve your professional life, you might want to think about establishing feedback systems. Take Doug, a man struggling with his role as a project leader. The issue was simple: Doug’s colleagues weren’t happy with the way he always focused on the negatives.
Rather than ignoring the problem, Doug took this feedback to heart and resolved to change his ways. He developed a feedback mechanism. Every time he started getting too negative, his colleagues gave him a signal by raising three fingers. It was an informal and friendly gesture that allowed him to directly and effectively address an uncomfortable issue. The result? A happier, more efficient and satisfied team!
Exercise is a highly effective stress remedy.
Lots of people accept stress as a fact of life and try to put a brave face on it. It’s only when they finally burn out or get seriously ill that they start considering changes. But that’s not the right approach. In fact, you can spare yourself no end of suffering by taking action today. And here’s the good news: you don’t even need to make particularly radical changes to boost your well-being.
Sometimes all it takes to beat work-related stress is exercise. That doesn’t necessarily mean taking out a gym membership, though. Simple rhythmic and repetitive movements like walking, jogging, cycling, dancing or even going through some yoga poses can significantly reduce stress.
Why? Well, there are a couple of reasons. First off, movement helps your body eliminate those stress hormones that were mentioned earlier. Nothing purges them from your system like a spot of exercise. Then there are the psychological effects of movement. Focusing on your body for a few minutes is an excellent way of getting out of your head and interrupting those obsessive thoughts that go hand-in-hand with stress.
That’s not just a theory, either. According to an article in the Wall Street Journal reporting on the results of a one-year study of professionals, workers who regularly used a treadmill experienced less stress, interacted more with their colleagues and were more productive than their peers who didn’t exercise.
That said, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Your best bet is to try out different types of exercise and see what works for you. The most important point to remember is that if you choose something you enjoy, you’re much more likely to stick with it. If you like taking walks around the park, do that. If you prefer jogging with a friend, well, do that. What you opt for will also depend on your commitments. If you need to be super-flexible, developing an exercise routine you can do in your office might be a good idea. If you’re the organized type, weekly swimming lessons might be the way to go.
Visualizing stress-free success and savoring the moment are also useful stress-busters.
As we’ve seen, physical movement is an excellent way of relieving stress. Unfortunately, that’s not something we can do whenever we need a bit of relief. After all, you can’t just leave your office to go for a jog whenever you feel like it! That means it’s also a good idea to develop some cognitive strategies to quiet your mind. Lets look at two top techniques that’ll help you do just that.
Let’s start with being in the moment. Stress is all about worrying about the past or the future. Learning to appreciate the present pushes those anxiety-inducing thoughts to the back of your mind. Best of all? You can start practicing this kind of mindfulness without making any changes to your routine. The reason for that is simple. Remember those autopilot activities like brushing your teeth we talked about earlier? Well, those are the kinds of things you can focus on to become more present!
All you have to do is make a conscious effort not to zone out and instead direct your attention to what you’re doing. That’s about learning how to appreciate, say, the way the water is running down your body or feels on your skin when you take a shower. Whenever you find your mind wandering, make an effort to refocus it on those sensations.
The second technique involves visualizing stress-free success. Start by asking yourself what you want to achieve and then concentrate on what it is you’d need to do to pull that off. If you’ve got an important presentation coming up, for example, and you really want to impress the audience, what would that take? Well, you’d need to be well-rested, prepared and punctual. Visualize those steps and work backward from there. What do you need to do to make sure you’re well-rested, for example? This is a great way of pushing vague anxieties out of your mind and really honing in on the things that are in your control – a guaranteed stress-reliever.
Cultivating new friendships and staying in contact with old friends is great for your mental health.
What’s worse than those endless shifts that bite into your evening? Getting off work and not having anything to do or anyone to do it with. The simple truth is that isolation just isn’t good for your mental health. Friends matter – a lot!
That means it’s in your best interest to make an effort to stay in touch with old friends. How you do that depends on your personality type. As Susan Cain points out in her book Quiet, introverts will generally prefer seeing more of fewer people. Cain, a self-professed introvert, says she spends 80 percent of her free time with just 10 percent of the people she knows. That means it’s important for her to regularly reach out and give a select number of old friends a call or invite them out for a drink.
Extroverts are the opposite. They generally prefer seeing more people less often. Take psychologist and author Adam Grant. He goes out of his way to reconnect with someone he hasn’t seen in a while once a month. That’s a great way of reactivating old contacts and keeping the connection alive.
Then there are new friendships. Few things can help you beat stress more effectively than cultivating new friends in your workplace. Why? Well, as a 2006 Gallup study showed, having just one good friend at work increases your morale and engagement levels up to seven times more than the normal amount. That’s easier said than done, of course, so let’s take a look at a couple of tips you can use to help you get to know your colleagues.
The simplest option is to respond enthusiastically when colleagues reach out to ask for help or invite you to take part in some after-work activity. If you’re pressed for time, you can be more strategic. Position yourself outside the main exit at lunchtime and pretend you’re waiting for someone and you’ll have a great opportunity to exchange a couple of words with your colleagues.
Being grateful can help you beat stress.
We’ve talked a lot about stress and how to overcome it. As we’ve seen, stress is inherently harmful. That’s why one of the simplest and most effective ways of getting it out of your system is to stay positive.
That means learning to be genuinely grateful for the things that are going well. Take Kaye Foster-Cheek, a senior executive at the Boston Consulting Group. She’s found that making time to experience gratitude has boosted her well-being significantly. So it’s the first thing she does when she wakes up. Rather than jumping out of bed, she takes a moment to reflect on how grateful she feels to simply be lying there with a new day ahead of her.
Alanson Van Fleet, an executive in the financial sector, takes a similar approach. His moment of gratitude comes when he walks through his office door and sees the small statue of the Buddha he keeps next to his computer, which reminds him how grateful he is that his company pays for his personal office space.
Those are great examples of how paying attention to those little details we all too often take for granted can help you beat stress. Here’s another tip: use visual cues in your workplace to reconnect with your core values.
When you’re under intense pressure and feeling adrift, catching sight of something familiar and loved can be a real lifesaver. Personal manager Tracy Columbus, for example, keeps Native American art in her office. Whenever she’s feeling blue, she turns to the images and their joyful colors. Peter Block does something similar. When he looks at the artwork in his office, he thinks of the time, patience and dedication the artists put into their creations – a reminder that that’s also something he seeks to do.
That goes to show that stress isn’t inevitable or inescapable. So, if you’re feeling under pressure, try out some of these stress-relieving strategies. You’ll be amazed at what a difference a couple of minutes of mindfulness or a quick walk around the park can make to your personal and professional life!
Increased workloads, demanding bosses, increasingly intrusive tech and a 24/7 business culture – no wonder today’s workforce is more stressed than ever. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Follow the simple stress-busting strategies in this post and you’ll be well on your way to beating burnout!
Action plan: Get a coaching partner. Building a new routine is hard work, especially in the early stages. That’s why it’s a good idea to find a coaching partner who’s embarked on the same path as you. Together, you can support each other on your journey. Whether that’s just a phone call to check in now and again or a gym buddy, having a partner who’s got your back is the best way to make sure you follow through on your resolutions.

June 29, 2020
Mobile App development trends for 2020
Tumblr media
If you look at the mobile apps, these keep changing everyday. You must satisfy the clients in terms of meeting to his/her ever-increasing demands. For this to happen, you will have to make substantial changes to your working model, as such. You must design the right set of mobile app development services, to ensure success in your business domain. These are the latest mobile app trends for the year 2020. Let us unveil each of them:
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
We have already seen the concept behind how AI (Artificial Intelligence) and ML (Machine Learning) can be integrated with one another. It has been predicted that the overall revenue earnings for AI would touch a whopping US$191 billion by the year 2024. Therefore, quite a lot of industries are wanting to capitalize on this trend. Integration of AI and ML can help you create crucial mobile apps for both IoS and Android. These are some of the trendy AI apps that will soon follow suit. These are:
Predicting user behaviours
Clubbing the benefits of AI with that of IoT
AI-enabled face unlock
Automation of a wider range of IT functions. IT here stands for Information Technology.
Allowing smart cameras to identify subjects
Enhancing the life-span of batteries via adaptive technology
Allowing higher reliability to tackle tightened cyber-security and
Language cum voice translations
Explore the know-how behind Blockchain technology
BlockChain technology is making a breakthrough beyond that of cryptocurrencies or IT Buzzwords. This tech is making a phenomenal foray into the world of mobile app development too. What do you understand by the term ‘Blockchain?’ It refers to a decentralized database. You find a chain of blocks operating from multiple PCs at the same time. These blocks help you in updation of data as and when someone in the group types something new. Also, when a new set of data is added, the old blocks get updated simultaneously.  This way, the old blocks will have the info updated. And everybody gets a copy of the database. This technology also has privacy fire-walls added to it. This way, when you try creating fake documents or indulge on data breaching activities, things get traced!
You discover that several online wallets and smart chain ledgers have already started using the Blockchain technology. If your payments involve usage of credit cards via cross borders, you can conveniently use a blockchain enabled mobile development app.
These are some of the future trends with respect to Blockchain technology. They are:
Using blockchain as a service or BaaS.
Facilitate trading activities via a cryptocurrency exchange
Using the tech for anti-piracy and
Asset tokenization
Internet of Things
The Internet of Things or the IoT is already making a phenomenal breakthrough for us in every walk of life. Let me take a real-time example to help you understand the difference between the Internet and Internet of Things.
Suppose you forget to lock the house and you have just stepped out of your home! Now, you can lock your doors from the current location where you are at. All you need to do is install IoT powered locking systems. You need to install the IoT app on your smartphone, powered with an IoT powered door-lock system. Of course with an active internet connection too. With the help of these three factors staying in place, you can do whatever you want. You Can control your homes, workspaces and almost anything via IoT powered devices. Many companies are conceptualizing their fleet of products or services via IoT compatible devices. Mobile apps too can conceptualize their apps based on IoT. Some of the futuristic trends with respect to IoT include
IoT in health-care
AI- enabled IoT devices
Self-driven cars and two wheelers
Smart home technologies
5 G Wireless technologies
5G wireless services is one of the top most trends for the upcoming year ‘20- ‘21. The speed of the 5G network can be faster than the current 4G network by almost 100 times. According to industry experts, there is a prediction that companies, firms and individuals will slowly transition from a 4G to a 5G network by the end of 2020.
Future plans of 5G wireless aims at
3D gaming
Augmented Reality or AR and
Data Security
Instant mobile apps
Now, you must be wondering what this is all about. These relate to the smaller version of the actual application. You can have the fundamental functionalities up and running without even you having to download them on devices.
What do you think is the primary advantage behind having these sub-set apps? You get the feel of the app before having to download the application in its full stature. These apps pave the way to target audiences who would love trying the instant mobile apps, like a kind of demo. Once they are convinced with its future and adaptability, could they go for the complete app. The 2020 markets are trying cooler options on instant mobile apps.
Beacon technology
What is your understanding on what beacon technology is? Well, it is a shopping app you can download on your smartphones or other devices like tablets. You can get an overview on outlets that sell your preferred niche on products or services. You can also receive their costs and product specifications.
This way, you will know where sale offers are running at. You will know outlets that sell your preferred range of products. The Beacon technology is the higher-end realm of your local search options done on mobile compatible devices.
For Apple phones, you have IBeacon and for Google, the app’s name is Eddystone. Beacons are already used at health care industries, travel and tourism units, hotels and museums. The future trends for Beacon enabled applications include those of
For physical games
Beacon enabled mobile payments
Wearable devices
You have smart watches that can indicate the number of calories you have consumed for a session of running in the mornings. Or while you take a session of hard-core cardio at the gym. You can receive phone calls and can view messages too. Apple Watches allow you to send and receive emails, SMSes and calls. You can receive fitness trackers too. Fitness bands, smartwatches and smart rings fall under the category of wearable devices. The projected trend for rise in use of wearable devices can increase by almost 35% by the end of 2020.
We are also expecting mobile devices to have the apps these wearable devices support.
On-demand apps
There’s a huge demand for mobile app development companies to download on-demand apps for consumers. Some of the major on-demand apps include
Food delivery services
Taxi services and
Grocery delivery apps
According to a research survey it is estimated that 86.5 million Americans hugely rely on-demand apps. The future trends for on-demand apps will include
Laundry
Domestic help
Beauty salon and
For babysitters
Chatbots
Chatbots refers to the technology that prevents human to human interaction in varied fields. Several companies are utilizing the services of chatbots for their business and inter-personal requirements. It is estimated that by the end of 2020, 85% of business applications will have their interactions via chatbots. This trend is on the rise as it is cost-effective. Humans have to be paid salaries, increments and perks every month.
Usage of chatbots also proves to be an effective strategy as the conversation between a human and the comp is pre-programmed. You don’t have to waste time on training personnel or workforce for the same. The strategy reduces human effort. These services also work 24/7 without getting fatigued out. It is roughly estimated that the global market size for chatbots will touch a staggering US$ 1.34 billion by the end of 2024.
Cloud integrated mobile apps

About Saturn key-lock system
Saturn is a United States of America car-maker producing selection of average motor vehicles. From 2005  Saturn key-lock technology runs on a transponder chip technology and in 2007 adopt the Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS) as the push-button start ignition and keyless device solution for almost all of its models.
The computerized chips transponder key emits a dedicated low-level RF signal to the vehicle computer unit which will only be detected when the exact encoded key was inserted to the keyhole, contrarily the combustible system and the car will not burst and conceivably blocked for five minutes.
This anti theft systems is assisting the manufacturers of automobiles, insurance companies and car owners in stopping crime and save millions of dollars globally, notwithstanding substituting broken, lost and stolen keys or even copying a surplus key is way over pricey.
Ignition cylinder repair
The Saturn ignition switch use three phases that turn on specific instrument as the key is turned. The ignition cylinder will turn on the electric accessories on the first stage, turn on the fuel supply on the second stage and light up the car engine on the third stage.
A noticeably common question drivers ask us over the phone to assist with, is troubleshooting ignition switch problems. Whilst our agent are usually ecstatic to try and troubleshoot your scenario, it might be very hard to perform over the phone. In addition to carrying dedicated Saturn lock picking tools and diagnostic, a basic understanding of how vehicle ignition switch function is fundamental, but prior to calling an ignnition expert please check following:
</p> <h5>dash-board console light are off</h5> <p> If you turn the ignition switch on but see no lights light up at the instrument panel which means that there is no electrical power running from the car battery. It could be a deplated battery or some times a failed alternator or electronic wiring connection could cause this. Light up the headlights, if they wont light on, it means the battery has no power which is a problem for a  mechanic.
</p> <h5>Ignition key wont turn</h5> <p> Most car accommodate a steering column locking mechanism that is being locked every time you pull off the ignition key out  at the end of a drive. Many times, the steering wheel is in a position that employs tension to the ignition switch, and prevents the key from turning (usually when parking up a hill) or when one of a two front wheels is pushed against something (like sidewalk edge).
* Before you start fixing this complication, double-check that your vehicle shifting gear is on park.
Grab the steering wheel and try to swing the  steering wheel  left and right and back and forth during gently wiggling the ignition holding the key - this might help in releasing the steering lock.
The ignition cylinder is remarkably critical element of any car and containing manifold tiny parts that might be wearisome to diagnose by an unqualified personal, so the best an owner advised to do bearing ignition cylinder or key malfunctions is to make sure you’re in fact trying to start up your very own vehicle and ask a vehicle lock smith to come down to your location to repair, replace  reprogram the key or ignition which will costs $150–$350.
Transponder key create
Towenty years ago vehicle producers world-wide changed mightily all of their car key lock systems to electric transponder, passive anti theft system or V.A.T.S keys incorporating a small size chip normally stashed into the key blade or crest and moreover car computer system.
The idea behind this is to achieve anti-theft technology where the car encompass vehicle ECM and the key encompass a tiny chip concealed into it's plastic apex.
As soon as the owner put the key into the ignition keyhole, an RF signal is shipped to the car computer. If the engine control module wont identify the code, the engine won't crank. Chipped keys actually means that the key must be justly computed to the immobiliser and some cars favors interface for onboard key duplicate.
Saturn proximity key
Saturn smart key allow a user to unlock and lock the car doors and furthermore turning on the car without inserting a metal key, and beginning at 2007, many Saturn models in the market come with some type of a keyless entry device instrument that includes a short range remote transmitter.
With a proximity key, access to your Saturn is commonly achieved by transmitting an RF indication message from a transponder in the smart-key to a car computer system on an encrypted data stream when the driver just walking by within a distance of 5 feet of the car with the keyless device in the pocket or on a key ring.
This radio-frequency indication message and the Saturn keyless entry device technology, further qualify push to start ignition (also called Crash starting or Clutch starting). In this system you are adept of activating a vehicle  by clicking a button on the dash board instead of turning a key in a crack-hole.
Copy vs lost car keys
The actual process of duplicating a vehicle key differ between individual models and year of the car. On few vehicles, dash-board console programming might be utilized for extre key programming. This process ward off the need for costly computer equipment and codes when syncing a new chipped key to the vehicle. Models who don't provision Control panel key duplication  interface should have a spare key programmed employing a suitable computer equipment that is handy solely to Saturn dealership or a licensed locksmith.
This coding machine costs a few thousands of dollars to procured which is why duplicating a digital vehicle key costs way more than it does to plainly cut an old-fashioned metal blade key.
If you lost all keys to your car you’ll have to get your vehicle towed to the dealer-ship or call a locksmith to come down to your location to re program the  to accept the new key and renounce the old one. The above process requisite ownership documents like insurance, registration or title and will costs $180–$250.
24hour vehicle lock out
With newer immobiliser, power lock, air bag and transponder key mechanism persistently progressing, keys, locks and ignition and furthermore car break in and entry services are turning a lot more convoluted to work with. Our popalock technician utilize appropriate lock picking tools and procedures to eliminate damaging your car power lock, electronic windows or air bag. If you locked out of your car with the key inside, our car lock picking service can come out to you in no time for all your vehicle trunk and door locks obligations,

Pinkerton: ‘Essential Workers’ Point the Way to a Republican Workers Party
On April 12, tornadoes tore across eight Southern states, killing 33. Chattanooga, Tennessee, was especially hard hit. An EF-3 twister killed nine, injuring dozens, and destroying or damaging 150 buildings.
Yet within minutes, there was hope. First responders were soon on the scene, and at 6 a.m. the following day, 500 workers began conducting a “grid search”; as Hamilton County Emergency Management Communications Director Amy Maxwell explained to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, “We’re still in the rescue mode and that’s pretty much going through the area which was affected, going door to door to make sure that we got everyone accounted for.”
At the same time, emergency rooms at local hospitals were receiving new patients, such as four-year-old Grayson Meadows, who suffered a grave brain injury when the storm ripped through his home.
Given the size of the response, one might almost forget that at the same time, the nation is in the grip of the coronavirus epidemic—although, of course, nobody is forgetting. As of April 15, Hamilton County has had 110 Covid-19 infections, and 11 deaths; nationwide, more than 26,000 have died.
So we can see: Many public servants are putting their lives on the line on a routine basis. Some are on duty when the storm breaks, others work their way through the wreckage—risking hazards as they search for victims—and some treat patients afterward. In the meantime, of course, all know that a highly contagious virus lurks.
It’s hard to think of any job categories more essential than these; this isn’t just essential work, it’s the Lord’s work.
We might note that the median salary for an emergency medical technician (EMT) in Chattanooga is $33,000; for a police officer, the median is a bit more than $50,000, and for a registered nurse, the average salary is a little over $60,000.
The pay scales for these workers seem low, especially in relation to the personal risk to them and the social value for the rest of us. Sometimes these incomes are beefed up by overtime, and yet even so, they seem meager next to many white-collar jobs that now seem, well, un-essential.
The New Meaning of Work
As we think about the first responders and frontline health workers in Chattanooga, and across the nation, we might wonder whether perhaps the pay-system itself is out of whack. Why do those who work so hard, at such risk, and do so much good get paid so little, especially relative to those who contribute little or nothing to society?
Moreover, we might also give some thought to all the other workers who are keeping our society going these days. We might ask ourselves: Why is the power still on? Why do the police still patrol the streets? Why do firefighters still come when called? Why do the traffic lights still work? Why do our phones still work? And the Internet?
And let’s not stop there: Let’s also ask: Why are many stores still open? Who’s stocking the shelves? Who’s working the cash registers? Who’s making deliveries? And behind those workers, who’s driving the trucks, operating the trains, and flying the airplanes? We could go on and on, listing all the many millions of workers, in the public and private sectors, who are proving themselves essential, helping us to get through this virus crisis.
A Better Deal for Workers
For decades, the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) has been charting wages and wealth in this country. For example, here are nine charts EPI released about American wages and income inequality back in 2015, well before Donald Trump’s election; as we can see, they make two key points about conditions under Trump’s predecessors:
First, productivity has soared much faster than median wages, which is to say, American workers are no longer gaining the benefit of their own hard work as a factor in rising productivity and wealth; the benefits are being captured by others. And that leads us to …
Second, the income of the top one percent has risen nine times faster than the income of the bottom 90 percent. And much of the reason, of course, is that the one percent typically gets its income from capital and investments, and so one percenters make their money from the stock market. And big corporations have found it easy, and profitable, to outsource production overseas, especially after China opened up in the ’90s.
We might add that EPI admits there’s been some improvement in the years since 2015, which is to say, Trump’s policies have made a positive difference. And yet still, it’s obvious that the gap between labor and capital has widened vastly.
So let’s think about what the nation owes working Americans. And then let’s think about narrowing the gap.
In the short term, the key issue is protecting worker health, as well as, of course, the health of all Americans. And that entails everything from face masks now to a cure or vaccine tomorrow. In other words, we need the full mobilization of the United States for the sake of working people, for the economy they have built—and for everyone else.
In the longer term, we should be thinking about raising wages for those at the low end of the scale, and also about guaranteeing them the basics of dignity and safety on the job. This author, as well as others here at Breitbart News, having taken note of hazardous working conditions at Amazon facilities, as well as of rising protests among the e-commerce giant’s employees.
Then, on April 14, came the news that Amazon had fired three more workers for their activism. On April 21 came more protests; as one worker in Michigan told New Yorkmagazine, “We are essential workers, but we’re not receiving essential protection.” Admittedly, the protests reportedly amounted to only 300 workers out of some 250,000 at Amazon nationwide, and yet it’s a safe bet that there will be many more protests. Indeed, it’s only a matter of time before labor inspectors—and tort lawyers—take a good long look at Amazon’s facilities. So while Amazon can claim success in the short run, the long run prospects for the company’s defiant stance are cloudier.
Yes, it’s an easy prediction that such corporate high-handedness will be met, soon, with a stern legal and political response. And that’s as it should be. After all, as Abraham Lincoln declared in 1859, “Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital … capital is the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed … labor is the superior—greatly the superior—of capital.”
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is not the first American tycoon to think that he can run roughshod over his workers. And yet most likely, soon enough, he will be reminded of what happened to those earlier tycoons; they were brought to heel by a popular upswell of congressional oversight, regulation, unionization, and anti-trust action. In our republic, the people rule.
Yet there’s no need to worry about Bezos; during the current crisis, his fortune has actually increased by $24 billion, so he’ll still be fabulously rich, even if he has to spend more to keep his workplaces safe and pay his workers higher wages.
Indeed, Amazon, as well as the nation, will actually do better if workers feel that they are being cut in on the action. Social stability, after all, is good for business.
A Nation Fit for Heroes
When this war—this World War Virus—is over, we, as a nation, will have to stake stock. We will mourn our losses, we will regret our economic calamity, and we will thank our essential workers.
And then we will have to figure out how to secure that better deal for all American workers.
It’s no longer possible to kid ourselves. We can no longer live with the illusion that the forces of globalism—who outsourced all those jobs to China and who devalued work here at home—have our best interests at heart. We won’t get fooled again.
Instead, for inspiration, we should look to labor—the labor that the great Lincoln told us was always superior to capital. Let’s look, for instance, to the frontline workers in Chattanooga, to all essential workers, and to working people across the country.
If we see the world through their eyes and respect their best values, we’ll be reminded that hard work brings something that money can’t buy—honor. And a politics that celebrates earned honor is an effective politics—as in, winning elections.
So here’s the opportunity for conservatives, for populists, and nationalists, and all the rest of the right and center-right: The Republican Party should always abide by its core principles, and yet at the same time, it should return to its Lincolnian roots, becoming the avowed party of first responders, blue-collars, and other frontline workers—and joined by, of course, soldiers, homemakers, and believers.
And yes, of course, entrepreneurs, small businesses, venture capitalists, and even fatcats would be fully welcome into this party; they should understand that if ordinary Americans are doing well, then they, too, will do well. After all, what a business needs most is a customer.
If we can we organize our economy around the well-being of the middle class—just as we once did—then we can all have a healthy, strong, and secure country.
By contrast, if we are weak as a nation, and either viruses or China rule the world, then nobody—and nobody’s wealth—will be safe.
The nation is ready to reward the party whose platform reflects the hard lessons we have learned these past few decades—and the even harder lessons we have learned in the past few months.
Can this happen? Can the Grand Old Party become the Grand Worker Party? We’ll have to see.

What is GaN? Why is it important for 5G?
Gallium nitride, molecular GaN, the English name Gallium nitride, is a III-V compound of nitrogen (V) and gallium (III), a direct bandgap (direct transition type) semiconductor material with a band gap Wide (Eg=3.39eV at room temperature), strong atomic bond, high thermal conductivity, stable chemical properties (nearly corroded by any acid), strong anti-irradiation ability, similar structure of wurtzite, high hardness and so on.
GaN is known as the first generation of Ge, Si semiconductor materials, the second generation of semiconductor materials after the second generation of GaAs, InP compound semiconductor materials, has broad prospects in the application of optoelectronics, high temperature and high power devices and high frequency microwave devices.
Compared to conventional silicon-based semiconductors, gallium nitride has superior breakdown capability, higher electron density and electron mobility, and higher operating temperatures than silicon-based semiconductors. This first embodies low loss and high switching frequency. Low loss can reduce the heat generated by the conduction. High switching frequency can reduce the volume of the transformer and capacitor, helping to reduce the size and weight of the charger. At the same time, GaN has a smaller Qg, which can easily increase the frequency and reduce the drive loss.
However, gallium nitride is different from conventional silicon-based semiconductors in the manufacturing process. The gallium nitride substrate is grown at high temperatures using metal organic vapor phase deposition (MOCVD) or molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) techniques. The biggest difference between gallium nitride and general semiconductor materials is that the forbidden band is wider. The forbidden band width is a physical quantity that characterizes the degree to which the valence electrons are bound. The wider the band gap, the tighter the bond of the valence electrons, and the greater the energy that frees the valence electrons from being bound into free electrons. The forbidden band width also determines the quality of free moving electronics.
GaN application air outlet
The birth of gallium nitride comes with the mission of technological development to serve the good life of mankind. Numerous new technologies, new applications, and new markets are destined to attract global attention when GaN is moving from the laboratory to the market. These emerging markets include 5G, RF, fast charge, etc. We cite a few of the areas where GaN is currently being commercialized on a large scale.
1, 5G commercial approaching
The RF GaN technology is a perfect match for 5G, and the base station amplifier uses GaN. Gallium nitride (GaN), gallium arsenide (GaAs), and indium phosphide (InP) are three- and five-valent semiconductor materials commonly used in radio frequency applications. Gallium nitride devices output more power than high-frequency processes such as gallium arsenide and indium phosphide; GaN has better frequency characteristics than power processes such as LDCMOS and silicon carbide (SiC). It is important that the instantaneous bandwidth of GaN devices is higher, the use of carrier aggregation techniques and the preparation of higher frequency carriers are all used to achieve greater bandwidth.
Gallium nitride is faster than silicon or other three- and five-valent devices. GaN can achieve higher power density. For a given power level, GaN has the advantage of being small in size. With smaller devices, device capacitance can be reduced, making the design of higher bandwidth systems easier. A key component of the RF circuit is the PA (Power Amplifier).
From the current application point of view, the power amplifier is mainly composed of a gallium arsenide power amplifier and a complementary metal oxide semiconductor power amplifier (CMOS PA), in which GaAs PA is the mainstream. However, with the advent of 5G, GaAs devices will not be able to maintain high integration at such high frequencies, so GaN is the next hot spot. As a wide-bandgap semiconductor, GaN can withstand higher operating voltages, which means higher power density and higher operating temperature, resulting in high power density, low power consumption, high frequency, and wide bandwidth.
Cristiano Amon, president of Qualcomm, said at the 2018 Qualcomm 4G / 5G summit that it is expected that the first half of next year and the end of the Christmas and New Year period will be two waves of 5G mobile phones, and the first commercial 5G mobile phones will debut. According to reports, 5G technology is expected to provide 10 to 100 times faster than the current 4G network, reaching the Gigabit per second level, while reducing delays more effectively.
In the 5G key technology Massive MIMO application, a large number (such as 32/64, etc.) array antenna is used on the base transceiver station to achieve greater wireless data traffic and connection reliability. This architecture requires a corresponding RF transceiver unit. The array is matched, so the number of RF devices will increase greatly, and the size of the device is critical. The use of GaN's small size, high efficiency and high power density enables high-integration solutions such as modular RF front-end devices. At the same time, in the 5G millimeter wave application, the high power density characteristics of GaN can effectively reduce the number of transceiver channels and the size of the overall solution under the same coverage conditions and user tracking functions. Achieve an optimal combination of performance costs.
In addition to the large increase in the number of RF devices required for the display of base station RF transceiver units, the density of base stations and the number of base stations will also increase greatly. Therefore, compared to the 3G and 4G eras, RF devices in the 5G era will be dozens of times or even The number of times increases, so cost control is critical, and silicon-based GaN has a huge cost advantage. With the maturity of silicon-based GaN technology, it can achieve market breakthrough with the most cost-effective advantage.

Ripple India MD speaks about expansion plans, states “list of banks will grow”
Ripple has begun targeting Asian markets for the propagation of their technology. More specifically, the settlements firm is focusing on the Japanese and Indian markets. Ripple’s Navin Gupta, the Managing Director for India, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, recently spoke about these plans in an interview with TechCircle.
Ripple opened an office in Mumbai last year, keeping in view its expansion plans. Moreover, the firm has lately been adding the banks in India to its network of banks worldwide known as RippleNet. They also seem to be making moves to hold a dominant market share in the Indian market, with SVP of Product, Asheesh Birla, stating:
“We realized that if you get the top three banks in India onto Ripple, you get 80% of the market share. And then we looked at – where’s the future? And so we realized in the next five years, one billion people will become banked in India, but they’ll be banked through their phone. So then we started targeting mobile phone providers and telcos.”
Keeping this in mind, Gupta recently spoke in an interview about how Ripple wants to tap into the $70 billion remittance market. He also spoke about its solutions and the primary competitor it has in the field. Ripple is matched up against a 60-year old banking system known as the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, better known by the name SWIFT.
The legacy system reportedly has around a 6% error rate, something that Ripple aims to identify and improve through their solutions. Gupta stated:
“We are building a message-based superhighway through which money can travel and, mind you, they don’t have to be cryptocurrencies; fiat currencies can also travel via our blockchain protocol.”
Gupta also revealed details about other markets that Ripple is specifically looking at, such as banks in the Middle Eastern region. The area is famous for oil, and the underlying financial transactions are usually made in the millions. As seen above, Ripple seems to have a plan with every market they are targeting. Gupta stated:
“We are already working with several banks globally especially in the Middle Eastern region. We also have customers in Africa and Europe who are conducting millions of transactions via our network protocol instead of using SWIFT.”
Gupta went on to illustrate the various issues that SWIFT brings up, highlighting the high failure rate, liquidity and speed. The 6% failure rate of SWIFT and the liquidity to be stored in the form of nostro accounts are difficult pills to swallow for banks. Instead, Gupta stated, Ripple’s solution is built similar to messaging platform WhatsApp. He said:
“For example, if a bank wants to send money to another, then first it has to add the second bank to its trusted list, as you would do in case of a WhatsApp contact. The backend of the technology checks the name of the bank, account and does due diligence on all the anti-money laundering rules in place.”
He made the comparison to WhatsApp, stating that the blockchain protocol matches the transactions in terms of credit and debit with a settlement time of 3 to 5 seconds.
Gupta elaborated upon Ripple’s cutting-edge solution for cross-border payments known as xRapid, which utilizes XRP as liquidity for cross-border transactions. He also spoke about the constant use of xRapid between the payment corridor of Mexico and the United States, where XRP is used as a bridge currency.
On Ripple’s strategy in India, Gupta spoke at length about the size of the remittance market in the subcontinent. He said:
“India has the largest corporate and retail remittance market globally worth $70 billion and we are certain we will be able to grab a significant portion of that market with our new technology solution that has worked for other banks.
He also spoke about the expansion plans in the future, keeping in line the vision described by Asheesh Birla. The SVP had previously stated that they will have 50% of the market in India. He said:
“And so now, I think that in our pipeline we have probably 50% of the market in India, either integrated onto Ripple or in the deal, in the sort of pipeline to be signed to India. And guess what, we’re going to take that back to Wells Fargo, and we’re going to say it’s not a better way to send into India than Ripple.”
Gupta said:
“We are working with four banks in India, Axis Bank, Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank. We are talking to others and soon our list of banks will grow.”
The Reserve Bank of India is still negative on the state of cryptocurrencies in the country. Gupta spoke about this as well, and he stuck to Ripple’s vision of not going against regulators and working with them to provide payment solutions. He said:
“Regulators have to ensure that cryptos are not being misused and we entirely support that cause. It takes time for a regulator to make decisions and ensure that all tracks are covered and all stakeholders can continue to work in the best of conditions.”

Searching for how to turn into a prepaid card retailer? Request is solid, the benefits are justified, despite all the trouble, and numerous projects are allowed to get set up. For high traffic areas like accommodation and markets, including a put away esteem deals program is overly simple and productive. This Ezine article is about how to turn into a prepaid card retailer for cell phone minutes, a vendor for reloadable charge cards from Visa and Discover, the go-to area for global long separation, and the advantageous spot to get a very late blessing with gift vouchers from national retailers.
For an assortment of reasons, this fragment is blasting. The complete dollars stacked onto put away worth cards will move to $672 billion throughout the following three years with comfort stores the quickest developing portion.
Pay-as-you-go cell phones administrations are plainly a colossal piece of the U.S. remote market; presently 1 out of 4 individuals are on some sort of compensation ahead of time remote arrangement in 2011 as per the New Millennium Research Council. Some require set up expenses. Some are free. Some can give charge card handling and put away worth cards on a similar terminal (and give them to free). Some can't. Some have great administration and make the set up procedure simple. Some don't. Some are perceived by the Electronic Transactions Association and some are definitely not.

For some individuals, the straightforwardness of working with a free deals advisor is appealing; afterall, they work for you, not specialist co-ops. With a specialist, you won't need to stress over the one-size-fits-all way to deal with deals. You don't need to problem with each yahoo on the square. On the off chance that this is new, there can be an expectation to absorb information yet it isn't extremely troublesome once your delegate strolls you through the procedure however you will need assistance beginning.
You will likewise require a program to prepare workers about how to recognize indications of and maintain a strategic distance from illegal tax avoidance plans. You would prefer not to have an issue and depend on numbness as your barrier.

The most significant part.

Tech Stocks Google, Snap, Twitter Jump Higher
Another busy day in the land of tech stocks, and the news is still (mostly) good. You’ll recall that on Tuesday, Snap impressed and on Wednesday it was Facebook’s turn. On Thursday, the good cheer spread to Google, Intel, and Expedia, though Amazon was less pleasing. And by Friday morning, Twitter was in on the party, too.
Given how much ink and/or pixels we’ve spilled on the story of the “tech-lash” and all the regulatory problems ahead, it’s worth noting that the core businesses of the largest companies are still chugging ahead. In an economy where the U.S. gross domestic product is growing at less than 3%, Snap’s revenue grew 48%, Facebook grew 28%, and Google increased 19%. Even “disappointing” Amazon grew sales 19%. And it’s all been pretty well anticipated on Wall Street, as these same companies have (mostly) been among the best performers on the stock market as well. As of yesterday’s close, Snap’s share price was up 221%, Facebook’s 53%, and Amazon’s 31%. Google was lagging with only a 9% gain, but it’s up another 8% in premarket trading this morning.
“Like a championship boxer that had been momentarily and unexpectedly knocked to the canvas, Alphabet delivered a series of well-timed punches that returned them to previous winning form,” analyst Michael Nathanson observed.
It’s always clever to predict that things are about to change, but most of the time, they stay the same. A body in motion tends to stay in motion, as Sir Isaac Newton phrased it. The basic trends feeding the tech giants, like the shift to online entertainment and e-commerce and the proliferation of more computing power and connectivity to more people and more places, continue unbated. It will take some awfully significant regulatory changes to alter that momentum.
Next week, we hear from Apple. Wall Street analysts expect Tuesday’s report will show that sales came in around $53.4 billion, unchanged from last year (when Apple’s revenue was still growing a healthy 17%). Falling iPhone sales should be offset by rising sales of services, wearables, and maybe iPads, according to the consensus view. But apple’s stock price has also risen a healthy 32% in 2019. Let’s see if Tim Cook & Co. can keep the party rolling.

NEWSWORTHY
Called it. The much-rumored sale of Intel’s flailing smartphone modem business to Apple for $1 billion is finally official. The two companies confirmed the transaction on Thursday, though Intel retains the right to use the modem tech in non-phone devices likes PCs and cars. Not-so-confirmed is the closing of T-Mobile’s merger with Sprint. The latest hang-up is the Justice Department apparently trying to convince the 14 state attorneys general that have sued to block the deal to back down. That led to the bizarre situation on Thursday of Minnesota AG Keith Ellison issuing a statement blasting the deal, then pulling the statement off his web site, then having his spokesman say “it wasn’t supposed to happen.” Stay tuned. The DOJ has scheduled a mystery press announcement for 11 a.m. ET on Friday.
Called it, II. Speaking of news events you probably anticipated, Japanese billionaire Masayoshi Son’s SoftBank Group closed the fundraising for its second massive tech investing fund, dubbed the Vision Fund 2, with $108 billion commitments from investors including Apple and Microsoft.
Called it, part three. Okay, I know those last two items were fairly predictable, but this one was an absolute lock. Remember at the height of bitcoin mania in late 2017 when small-cap stock Long Island Iced Tea Corp. changed its name to Long Blockchain, sending its share price up almost 300%? Now the FBI is investigating the company for possible insider trading and securities fraud, Quartz reports. Shocker.
So called it. Predictable? This one was fated, set in stone, undeniable. the Senate finally released a redacted version of its investigation of Russian attacks on the 2016 election. You will not be surprised to learn that the attacks were far more extensive than previously reported and that vulnerabilities likely remain, even as Mitch McConnell is blocking action on a bill to bolster election security. Sigh.
A small addition. We noted yesterday that Chinese ride service Didi Chuxing created a new joint venture with Toyota. the venture also includes a third party, GAC Toyota Motor, which itself is a joint venture between Toyota and Guangzhou Automobile Group.
FOR YOUR WEEKEND READING PLEASURE
A few longer reads that I came across this week that may be appealing for your weekend reading pleasure:
Apple Music’s Next Era–And the New Leader Spurring Global Growth (Billboard) “You hear Tim talk a lot about humanity–how we’re at the crossroads between the liberal arts and technology,” says Oliver Schusser. “It’s got to be both.” The new leader of Apple Music (the Tim in question would be his boss, Apple CEO Cook) is relaxing in his sun-drenched corner office at the company’s Culver City, Calif., headquarters on a June morning, explaining–in his typically measured way–why the service he oversees hasn’t gone all-in on algorithms.
The Video Game Industry Can’t Go On Like This (Kotaku) The wheels of the games industry keep turning, in spite of the strain. So how much bigger can video games get? Video games are only getting more costly, in more ways than one. And it doesn’t seem like they’re sustainable.
Khashoggi fiancée Hatice Cengiz: ‘Jamal was not their enemy’ (The Financial Times) The doctorate student talks over the chain of events that led to the Saudi journalist’s killing in Istanbul.
Everything you ever wanted to know about the Rosetta Stone (The British Museum blog) You’ve probably heard of the Rosetta Stone. It’s one of the most famous objects in the British Museum, but what actually is it? Take a closer look…
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
With all the problems Facebook faces in Washington, D.C., it needs all the allies it can muster. Apparently, co-founder and former top exec Chris Hughes won’t be among them. Hughes, it seems, is making the rounds on Capitol Hill to explain why Facebook should be curtailed. It’s kind of…ironic, given his half a billion dollar haul from Facebook stock. But as Washington Post reporters Elizabeth Dwoskin and Tony Romm discovered, that hasn’t stopped Hughes from making the anti-Facebook case.
After House lawmakers embarked on their broad antitrust investigation of Facebook and its fellow tech giants in June, one of the first people they consulted was Hughes, said Rep. David N. Cicilline (D-R.I.), chairman of the House Judiciary subcommittee on antitrust law. Hughes quietly paid a visit to members of the House’s top competition-focused panel earlier this month, meeting with lawmakers and their staff members to pitch many of the issues he raised in his op-ed.
Hughes presented his views as a former Facebook insider, something that lent credence to his arguments, Cicilline said. “It’s remarkable and significant to me and my colleagues that someone with such a role in creating the company has the capacity and courage, really, to say, ‘We have some challenges, some things to look at.’ ”

A long-time science fiction staple is turning into reality. A SpaceX rocket last month lofted the Planetary Society’s LightSail 2 spacecraft into orbit and, on Tuesday, it was time to test the craft’s futuristic feature: a solar sail. The tiny craft, about the size of a shoebox, successfully deployed the sail, which can catch photons from the sun to generate thrust. There’s even video.
