Khiladi is an action suspense thriller film directed by Abbas Mustan. Written by Naeem-Ejaz and Aadesh K. Arjun (dialogues), with a story by S. Khan, the film marked #AkshayKumar's breakthrough role and also stars Ayesha Jhulka, Deepak Tijori, Sabeeha, Prem Chopra, Shakti Kapoor, Anant Mahadevan, and Johnny Lever.

Produced by Girish Jain and Champak Jain, Khiladi features cinematography by Thomas A. Xavier and editing by Hussain A. Burmawala. The music for the film was composed by Jatin–Lalit, with lyrics by Mahendra Dehlvi, Dev Kohli, and Anwar Sagar.

Khiladi was the first installment in the Khiladi film series, which featured "Khiladi" in the title and Akshay Kumar in the leading role. It was followed by Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995), Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi (1997), International Khiladi (1999), Khiladi 420 (2000), and Khiladi 786 (2012).

A sports biopic, Dangal totally justifies the real life story of Haryana wrestler who trained his older two daughters in the art of wrestling and turned them into champions. The film delivers a very important message with such sincerity that it just doesn’t overwhelm the storytelling. 

Messages on our obsession with the male child, bigoted stand on bringing up our daughters and the administration’s wretched attitude towards sports, are loud and clear. 

Amir Khan is a pure finesse who can go to any extent to completely erase the boundary which detaches the actor from the character. His deliberate gaits to match with the demand of the role as an aspiring wrestler with muscles and a passionate father with a heavy belly can easily convince you that the movie has really covered an era while making. 

In the male dominant state of Haryana, where the girl child is still unacceptable in most of the families, there cannot be a more important message. The belief that real-life Phogat showed in his girls, as they went on to win honor is definitely setting an example.

Also, Dangal blends humor with intensity. The lighthearted dialogues, peppered with humor and heartrending father-daughter emotions runs throughout the movie. When the first half of the movie shows how the young Geeta and Babita turn into willing fighters from young innocent girls, the second half on the mat tells us how to learn the art of losing, and, above all, to win. Among the high ends of this well-crafted film are the nail-biting wrestling sequences.

But what wins our heart is the not-so-perfect yet so perfect character of Mahavir Phogat. He is guilty of taking away his daughter’s childhood and turning them into the boys that he doesn't have. But his obstinacy ends up breaking all the traditional taboos of this patriarchal society for its own good.

The film also delineates the conflicting points of traditional coaching methods of father versus modern techniques of the system with sheer serenity.

Along with Mr. Perfectionist, a big credit for this sporting saga goes to Fatima Sana Shaikh for bringing the character of Geeta Kumari Phogat, Mahavir's eldest daughter to life. Sakshi Tanwar, as Khan’s wife, is a first-class choice, known yet fresh enough. Her role is restrained but totally compatible with the storyline.

The earthy soundtracks, especially ‘Haanikarak Bapu’ fits just right with the mood of the narrative. 

Dangal is a film that is both inspiring and entertaining. Since it highlights the glorious wins of the Phogats, the film is also bound to encourage more women to seriously take up kushti as a sport.

Appointment of 11 judicial officers and 2 advocates as Additional High Court Judges, Centre recommends transfer of two High Court judges

Today, the Central Government notified the appointment of 11 Judicial Officers and 2 Advocates as Judges in the High Courts. Also, the transfer of two High Court Judges was also notified. The announcement was also shared on Twitter by Law Minister Kiren Rijiju, “In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the resident of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint the following as Judges in the High Courts and also transfer High Court Judges.” The names recommended for fresh appointment of High Court judges were:

Girish Kathpalia (Judicial Officer)

Manoj Jain (Judicial Officer)

Roopesh Chandra Varshney (Judicial Officer)

Also, Judicial Officers Manoj Jain and Girish Kathpalia were appointed as Additional Judges of the Delhi High Court. In addition, Judicial Officers Sanjeev Sudhakar Kalgaonkar and Smt. Anuradha Shukla were appointed as the Madhya Pradesh High Court Judges. Moreover, Advocates Pankaj Purohit and Rakesh Thapliyal were appointed as Uttarakhand High Court Judges. Apart from this, the Patna High Court judge, Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, was transferred as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court was appointed as the judge of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.

Today, while fixing the date of May 3, 2023, for the next hearing of the same-sex marriage recognition case Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said that “the apex Court is dealing with a ‘very complex subject’ which has a profound social impact.” For the sixth day, the Constitution bench was hearing the matter. The other judges of the Constitution bench including Justice S Ravindra Bhat, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Justice Hima Kohli, and Justice PS Narasimha were hearing a batch of petitions regarding the recognition of queer marriages. While hearing the arguments, various issues were raised in relation to adoption, and LGBTQIA rights. The matter now will be resumed as mentioned by CJI on Wednesday (May 3, 2023).

On April 28, 2023 (Friday), the Supreme Court of India was hearing the petition filed by Indian wrestlers seeking action (FIR registration) against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, WFI (Wrestling Federation of India) President, regarding sexual harassment. Earlier on April 25, 2023, the case was mentioned before the top Court where the then bench issued notice to Delhi Police on the request of complainants (women wrestlers). Today, the Delhi Police told the bench, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha, that it will register the FIR.

New Delhi: One of the most prestigious Cinema Awards of the country under the name and banner of Hindi Cinema Samman Samaroh took place during the 15th Global Film Festival Noida 2022 under the Chairmanship of renowned international film, television, and media personality of the Republic of India Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios & Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts.

The crime thriller Maarrich starring Tusshar Kapoor and Seerat Kapoor is all set to release this Friday. The song is composed by King of Melody Amaal Malik and sung by supremely talented Sunidhi Chauhan.
