Bazzoni does wonderful#things with delicate compositions and suffusing everything in a twilight blue pall; a sickly‚ cold tint that matches the detached and#slightly cruel nature of the plot. then there's the clever use of reflections‚ the division of screen‚ some amazingly effective pov work#so yeah‚ aesthetically and visually and style wise‚ this is an absolutely incredible example of the genre. but despite that.. idk.. it left#me just a teeny bit cold. the plot just doesn't quite match the energy of the visuals; a few too many red herrings‚ a twist ending that#feels at once predictable and yet inorganic. the script wanders aimlessly‚ the timeline is all over the place.. idk. just something a#little bit disappointing that prevents this being (for me) the masterpiece example of a giallo many seem to consider it.#a beautiful‚ precious jewel of a film‚ but simultaneously just a little bit hollow
