So A-Rod is getting roasted online for this quote from last night after Judge hit one of his homers last night: “Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Michael Jordan…Aaron Judge” while I see why, there was another quote of his that I had to say WTF?

In this one he said that Gio Urshela of the Yankees is the best defensive 3B in the American League. I blurted out "Matt Chapman”. Right after I said that his fellow commentator Matt Vasergian basically said “you know there is this guy in Oakland…”

Urshela has been a godsend for the Yankees. He has shown that he is a complete player and continues to improve but I wouldn’t put him over Matt Chapman at this point in time. Chapman came up in 2017 and in his first two full seasons Chapman has earned:

- Wilson Defensive Player of the Year 2018 and 2019

- The Rawlings AL Gold Glove 2018 and 2019

- The Rawlings AL Platinum Glove 2018 and 2019.

For those who don’t know, the Platinum glove is given to the best defensive player overall in his respective league. Chapman has two of those.

Again, I think Urshela is having a Scott Brosius-like renaissance with the Yankees but he doesn’t belong above Matt Chapman in the discussion of best defensive 3B in the AL. The only player in the entire league that you can place at Chapman’s level if not above is Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies.
