A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 465

MY 20 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 465:

SUCH a great chapter in such an awesome arc! I was trying to control myself and choose only 15 moments, but in the end, I completely failed. 

Moment 1: I remember the first time I read this I got CHILLS when Yaemon called Gintoki that. 

Moment 2: And then I was nervous through most of Yaemon’s conversation with Gintoki cuz I just didn’t trust the guy.

Moment 3: And only here was I finally able to unclench since it seemed such an innocuous way for Gintoki to repay the debt...even though technically Yaemon was up to no good, as we find out by the end of the chapter.

Moment 4: Happy to see the boys but I thought this was a cute moment because Okita looks like he’s floating above the tatami mats like some kind of genie. 

Moment 5: Is corpse eyes better than dead fish eyes, I wonder? 

Moment 6: Loved his words and Asaemon’s reaction to them...

Moment 7: ...and knowing they came from the previous Yaemon just made the moment all that much better and meaningful. 

Moment 8: They’re like on the opposite sides of the spectrum: Shinpachi doesn’t think national traitor is bad enough a crime to deserve decapitation yet Kagura thinks public indecency is bad enough for it. These two cute dorks.

Moment 9:  I just like this moment cuz Kagura looks like a cute squirrel eating her umaibo.

Moment 10: I debated for a good couple of minutes on whether I wanted to choose this moment or the one right before as a favorite, and finally decided on using that one for my ships tally. But I love them both because holy cuteness, a random OkiKagu moment that was like UBER adorable!!! He straight up proposed to her, didn’t he? I’m counting his offer as a legit marriage proposal. No takesy-backsies. (and nice homes do have bars...for the windows...to deter burglars...he’s such a thoughtful hubby)

Moment 11: I started to get emotional right here cuz the whole sequence with Asaemon talking about her father was just heart-breaking.

Moment 12: I can’t even imagine the guilt she must have felt, even though she had to kill him this way in order to be able to bring herself to kill him at all. I think I might have started full-blown crying when I first read this, but now I just get this ache in my heart.

Moment 13: The sad thing is, to many, her father probably was considered a demon because he put so many people to death; but to those he saved, he was anything but that.

Moment 14: Ugh, my heart. I also get chills thinking about what would have happened if Yaemon didn’t interfere. Even if Gintoki wasn’t executed, he would have surely been tortured non-stop.

Moment 15: Awwww! I love Gin-chan.

Moment 16: Omifuckinggawwwwwdddd LMFAO. Although, she’s lucky he’s not Kondou, could’ve been much worse.

Moment 17: he kinda deserved that...but maybe not all the beatings by Shinpachi and Kagura right afterwards.

Moment 18: I love that Hijikata is still afraid of ghosts (much like Gintoki is, hee hee).

Moment 19: Total oh shit moment.

Moment 20: I totally didn’t like him at that moment, but had to admit that was a pretty smart plan...he literally got two birds with one stone.

SHIPS TALLY:

Okita x Kagura: I screamed like the silly fangirl that I am whenever I see this scene: first time, every time. Canon canon CANON.

Gintoki x Hijikata: I took it to mean that Gintoki would stay with him for seven generations since isn’t that what happens when ghosts curse people? They haunt and stay in their lives the whole time? 

I was going to include Gintoki x Asaemon, but then after thinking about it, I doubt she’d still be into him after he FARTED in her face (unless she’s into that stuff but I don’t really want to think about that cuz I like her).

Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just so freaking amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s generosity that I can enjoy Gintama on yet another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.
