Gintoki is going about his business as usual when out of nowhere Hijikata starts being extremely affectionate towards him. Can Gintoki figure out what's going on before having to admit to himself just how much he's enjoying it? Or at least before being teased into oblivion by Sougo and Kagura?

“Have you eaten?” Hijikata asks, and Gintoki blinks in surprise.

“I’m sorry?”

“Have you had dinner?” he asks again, shutting the front door and trapping Gintoki in his house. “I’m cooking.”

“Uh… it’s alright, really. I shouldn’t impose—”

“—impose? You broke into my house.”

In which Sadaharu takes a fat shit on Hijikata's rug, and Gintoki is too broke to pay him back.

a neighbour AU I wrote for the gintoki birthday bash event last year. it was my first attempt at a chaptered fic, and completing it was definitely rewarding, especially after all the suffering. the amazing art embedded within the fic was done by @tippytrap.

I just want to say a big big thank you to all the mods, participants, readers, and of course my two lovely partners for giving me a chance to express myself through this event. I’ve always been anxious about posting anything because I feel like I still have a lot to improve on, but taking on this challenge was worth it in every way. I learned a lot about myself from this lovely event and I gained more skills in the past few months than I have in a very long time. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

Toushirou picked up the tuft of fur on the ground, wondering what animal it could have come from. He had been here so many times, but had never seen an animal with silver-white fur. Maybe a new animal moved into the forest and he had yet to see it?
