Garak is definitely pulling some “I will sit here consumed with lust for the rest of the evening” regency style flirting. It’s a very traditional, mannered (in both the polite and deliberate sense) style of flirting that is carefully designed to be both obvious and plausibly deniable (in a face saving, if you’re not into it we can never speak again way). The fact it goes in for years is what makes it scandalous.

Gilora is an obvious flirt. I bet in Cardassian media her style is the equivalent of “the hot nerd girl tries to take popular girl’s advice but flubs it in a way the male lead finds endearing” trope. Unfortunately for O’Brien, he responded in keeping with “male lead finds endearing” behavior which left her very confused.

Dukat is absolutely a tasteless frat bro with Kira (and Sisko), convinced his very presence is enough and any reply constitutes interest.

(If Gilora saw Garak and Bashir together, she would swoon a little. Her guilty pleasure are books about incredibly erudite civil servants who wittily argue/pine their way through various obstacles before finally discovering their union serves the state so they marry happily ever after.)

(She also reads the pining tragic ones, where duty drives the lovers apart. Those go hard on courtly love elements and the socially inferior lover often gets to die dramatically while preserving the state/their love.)

seeing the way dukat hits on kira (and gilora's relentless negging with o'brien too honestly <3), I think we might be forced to consider what should have been the inconceivable possiblity that garak's flirting with julian would actually be considered quite restrained and tasteful by cardassian standards. either that or dukat is doing frat bro flirting while garak is pulling some regency era novel equivalent moves, 'then I will sit here consumed with lust for the rest of the evening' style

I wanted to see Night At the Museum cause tumblr seems to like it (and that often means I will too), but I’ve heard it’s a parody of The Mummy so now I’m watching that first. All Americanisms aside, I’m enjoying it so far.
