No spoilers but Ghost Files Alone was such a rollercoaster in the best way! For a man who adores theme parks and committing to the bit, Ryan Bergara took us all for a ride in the best way! This series is a great mix of suspense, humor, chills, introspection, and heart.
As a Boogara, I wouldn't be able to do what he did and I'm inspired and proud of what he accomplished. And I think even the Shaniacs will appreciate what this show represents in terms of facing a challenge and your own personal ghosts.
Ryan put so much time and care into this series and it really shows in each episode. The concept, planning, execution, and post-production are all incredible and I think it's one of the best things he's ever made.
So many kudos to Ryan and the Watcher team for this one!!

Ghost Files Alone
I've been so excited to see how this series would end and it did not disappoint on any level. I'm so proud of Ryan!! Even if I wasn't a Boogara I would have been scared of staying in a place like this all alone. So it's very inspiring to see him face his fears and continue investigating even when you could tell he was having a hard time.
Like, my favorite Watcher shows are the food shows or the silly ones (I haven't even seen all of AYS or early SM because I don't like horror). But this show was so well made, that even though I think it's scarier than Ghost Files, it's kept me hooked to see what happens each week.
Ryan has always been great at balancing the spooky with a bit of humor and this show is no exception!
(a couple more spoiler-y thoughts and screencaps under the cut)
Knowing that Ryan was the one to come up with the concept, execute it, and also do most of the editing, shows how talented he is and what a visionary creator he can be. But also knowing how much it probably messed with him to even relive some of those moments while editing makes me feel for him. Even that is further proof of him facing his own inner-demons to make great content.
And don't even get me started on that ending monologue - ofc I cried T_T

I want to give him the biggest hug and/or bucket of popcorn because did such a great job!
I love what this series represents and if this is the only season we get I'll cherish it for a long time. Ryan's mental health is more important than another season. But if he feels like he can do it (maybe after waiting a few years? and he feels like his anxiety is more manageable?) then I would support another series of this because it is SO GOOD.

Ghost files Alone really good I think it really shows that Ryan worked on it it has written "made by Ryan Bergara" all over it from the composition shots to the storytelling to the silly "I'm gonna take water from church and it's like half holy water isn't it". I think for people who like/miss bfu it's gonna be great watch bc it involves all the things people missed from that other show. But it also builds on the legacy of ghost files (rules, challenges. gf font) so it's like. A perfect mix of both things.
I really like it the location is really creepy sounding from the introduction to it, Ryan knows how to make it interesting and suspenseful and it is as everything they make at watcher painfully earnest. You can see that there are some personal stakes in it that he does it for the good of the show and also for himself to test his abilities as a ghost hunter and filmmaker. (When it was like created&directed by Ryan Bergara at the end you can really see that he's alone).
Really refreshing while playing into some familiar bits I think this is great. Hope he doesn't go insane making this show but I also admire the dedication to his craft. Truly the bravest ghost hunter who ever lived.

he would have to go back to places theyve investigated on ghost files to confirm but so far ghost files alone is making a pretty solid case for the "shane scares all the ghosts away" crowd.

watching ghost files: alone is honestly a really interesting experience because we all know that ryan is anxious when ghost hunting but it's usually cut with jokes or shane effortlessly distracting him but we obviously don't get any of that during this
it's really interesting and honestly emotional to see ryan doing all of this alone and being so open and vulnerable on camera. i'm fully a skeptic but i have so so much more respect for ryan than i already had for how impressively brave he was for doing this. you can genuinely hear the anxiety in his voice when he's investing in a way that i don't think we ever have with regular ghost files. i think it's impressive the level of vulnerability he's showing by talking about his anxiety and how he is truly getting so mentally exhausted
major props to ryan because not only is it a really fun and fascinating thing to watch from an entertainment perspective but it also shows the fact that he is truly stronger than his fear and i really admire him for this

Not to be vulnerable on a watcher blog but ...
After watching Ghost Files Alone, I realize I'm dealing with my own Malvern Manor (mental health) but like Ryan once said at the end, I hope I can be able to leave it behind me one day.

After watching ep 2 of Ghost files alone I still think it's really good, especially how we get to see Ryan's thinking in approaching ghost hunting. He's very nice with the ghosts of the children, and very respectful in general and I think that it's one of the reasons I love watching all ghost hunting content with him. Yes seeing him scared might be a joy to some but I think the real magic of this show is not in him breaking down, but seeing how far he'd come in the years since he began doing it.
Also technically doing a show like this alone is possible, and he proved it by the ep being comprehensible, but there's little things that shine through in this episode (camera's losing focus in some places, him setting up a static cam in the middle of investigation and not being there for some of the evidence, or the fact that him holding the camera stops him from doing other things at the same time. Or even the angles of him loading his holy water gun or while eating) that show that having skilled cameramen or the crew setting up things beforehand is as key to making an episode as the guys investigating.
Not saying it's bad, the show really is high quality considering that he's doing it alone and he needs to think of all the things to do, but it makes me appreciate the production of Ghost files even more because yes you get the idea but the camera losing focus during some sequences wouldn't happen because there's a skilled cameraman behind it.
It just makes me appreciate the thing they're doing even more than before.
