"A New Perspective" This 2-panel doodle was inspired by the beep!21 Lunar interviews @indigozeal has been translating over the past couple years!

Specifically, there's a section discussing what Lunar 3 could have been like and it mentions bringing back Ghaleon and taking place on the Blue Star (which is almost but not completely ready for inhabitants.) And my mind just went nyooooooom: Ghaleon getting a view of home from the surface of the Blue Star LET'S GOOOOOO~

I originally whipped out the concept sketch like right after reading one of the first parts of the interviews that she translated, back in 2022, and then poked at it off and on for the next couple of years. ^^;;

But it's finally done! Except for all the little things I keep seeing that I'd like to fix. :B Eh, no, it's done. It's DONE!! Thanks again @fyeahlunar for prompting me to finish this one, and thank you so so much @indigozeal for all the incredible translation work you've done for the Lunar fandom over the years! :3

I finished trimming/styling Ghaleon's hair. \o/

Suri is such a fabulous fiber to work with, it's so soft and silky. Definitely styles differently than your typical synthetic fiber doll hair, can't heat set it.

But it'll keep whatever shape it dries in pretty well, so I kinda tease it into shape with drops of water on a big pointed paint brush, after combing some detangler mist thru the hair. (Sprayed the comb, didn't want to coat his face with detangler.)

I'm so pleased with how he's pulling back together. >u<

(I woulda added some EB graphics into the mix, but apparently that game doesn't have as many sprite or asset rips as TSS has. Which is a bummer!)

So, um. I've been sitting on this drawing for over a year I think. ///o_o/// tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow (I'm shortening that to tx3 for the rest of this post) kind of influenced my subconscious mind to start writing my own "Ghaleon in gay elf jail" fancomic project. When I realized that, I was overcome with a NEED to give back to the fic that inspired me in the first place.

...the thing is, it's part of a set of 3 illustrations, and I kinda wanted to finish the other two drawings before I shared any if them, but then... time kinda got away from me.... ^^;;;

Oh well, something to look forward to, hopefully? :3c I hope you like this one, jonphaedrus! ///^^///

I have a new treasure. OuO

It's kinda gross and grubby, here's before and after I gave it an aggressive rubbing alcohol scrubdown:

The ebay seller offered me a tiny discount, $38 down from $40 (+shipping and taxes :p) and I was reeeeeeally depressed (it was last Wednesday) so I caved. This might be the least amount of money I've spent on an English language Lunar book, the prices have been nuts for over a decade and they just continue to get crazier. :B

Anyway, as gross as the cover is, and as theoretically nice as it would be to have a minty unblemished copy.... this pre-owned copy has REAL ACTUAL TREASURE inside!!

First of all, I noticed that every page of the guide has been lovingly annotated with the locations of every item in the game. In purple ink! My favorite!

Then I noticed something funny at the beginning of the book:

I'd just woken up not long before I went down to pull in my mail, so my groggy thought process when I saw this went roughly as such:

Gee, Sandwich Islands Publishing sure cheaped out on the color printing.... wait, that's from SSSC not TSS... is this a reprint--no that's stupid... OH. THE ORIGINAL OWNER GLUED SCREENCAPS FROM SSSC IN HERE!!!!!!!! OMG AHAHAHAHAHA YESSSSS

They went all out!

But the REAL ACTUAL TREASURE? Whoever did this was also a huge Ghaleon fan, like myself:

That's just special right there, you don't get to feel loving connections to gamers of the past like this with mint condition books.

The world might be a constant roiling shitshow, but... the compulsion to be creative never dies. So long as we keep making silly things with love in our hearts, I think we can get through the worst of the crap.

Whoever owned this book before me, thank you for your hard work. I hope you're doing okay, wherever you are.

Meribia PD apprehended a pair of suspected arsonists this morning - Local tea farmers whose fields were threatened by the blaze identified the suspects as a couple of "ruthless bastards." (Thanks to @indigozeal for finishing the blurb XD)

Ghaleon and Dyne caught red-handed setting fires?! Or were they just unaware their (factory recalled) "Flicker n' Flash" rollerblades had an unintended special feature?

AT LONG LAST: the interview translations from the Baten Kaitos artbook are finally finished with conversations with composer Motoi Sakuraba and the Japanese voice cast. (If you haven't checked it out previously, this document also contains translations of interviews with illustrator Nakaba Higurashi, scriptwriter Masato Kato, and the producers & directors.)

For many, the interview with Sakuraba will be the highlight, but I personally found most memorable this spoilery bit below the cut from Kalas's Japanese voice actor Kousuke Toriumi, which explains precisely why he was chosen for the role:

In the middle of the story, there's a scene where you betray your comrades; your performance there must have been difficult, wasn't it? Toriumi: I didn't think it was particularly tough! I actually ended up enjoying that scene itself, and when I read it, I thought, "oh, wow, I betrayed them!! Yahoo!"

Congratulations, you absolute, perfectly-cast dick.
