Blu Christmas Holiday Movie Asplosion 2022! ⛄ Chapter 48: Miracle on 34th Street 🦌 Another undisputed classic, this is one of those ones that for any number of people is their number one (of course, every one of these is probably someone's number one, but this is probably a great many peoples'). As mentioned earlier in the marathon, I enjoyed the remake, but the original is leagues better. It's one of the best examples of sentimentalism through a film, without relying on being too overly sweet and saccharine to sustain it. And Edmund Gwenn is a superb Santa Claus. One of the best I've seen. Also, fun bit o' trivia, Alvin Greenman, who played Alfred the young janitor, makes an appearance as a doorman in the 1994 remake. 🌲 ❄️ 🎄 🎅 #MiracleOn34thStreet #1947 (#MiracleOn34thStreet1947 #TheOriginalAndBest ) #EdmundGwenn (#SantaClaus ) #MaureenOHara #GeneLockhart #NatalieWood #JohnPayne #WilliamFrawley #AlvinGreenman #GeorgeSeaton #BluChristmasHolidayMovieAsplosion2022 #iLoveMovies #christmasmovies #holidaymovies #xmas #christmasspecials #holidayfilms #holidays #movies #christmas #iLoveChristmas #blurays #bluray #MovieNerd #abluchristmas #christmasfilms #christmasmoviemarathon . https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm7h1V0PNj8pjvknSlfrzu4TVMRnVfKWi5HCRE0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

#Tothewriter #ValentineDavis #GeorgeSeaton #JohnHughes #miracleon34thSt 1994 Kris Kringle: You think I'm a fraud, don't you? Dorey Walker: Fraud is a bit too strong of a word. Kris Kringle: But you don't believe in me. Dorey Walker: I believe that Christmas is for children. Kris Kringle:Well your daughter doesn't believe in me, either. Dorey Walker: I don't think that there's any harm in not believing in a figure that many do acknowledge to be a fiction. Kris Kringle: Oh, but there is. I'm not just a whimsical figure who wears a charming suit and affects a jolly demeanor. You know, I I I'm a symbol. I'm a symbol of the human ability to be able to suppress the selfish and hateful tendencies that rule the major part of our lives. If you can't believe, if you can't accept anything on faith, then you're doomed for a life dominated by doubt. https://www.instagram.com/p/CB5PLEwDY1w/?igshid=qxgqifimv9j7

Movie Queens... Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn - - backstage at the RKO Pantages Theatre as they wait to present their categories at the 28th Academy Awards on March 21, 1956 in Hollywood, California. - - Grace Kelly presented the Best Actor Oscar (won by Ernest Borgnine for Marty) and Audrey Hepburn presented the Best Picture Oscar (Marty). - - In 1954, Audrey Hepburn won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Roman Holiday (William Wyler, 1955), - - and Grace Kelly won it the following year for her performance in The Country Girl (George Seaton, 1954). - - On these pictures, we can see them backstage. (The Lee School) Hallowell School for Colored Girls Class Picture 1913 The #FreedmenBureau funded the Hallowell School in 1867. George L. Seaton was a builder and a large real estate holder who built the school in the City of Alexandria for black girls. The school was located on North #AlfredStreet, between Princess and Oronoco. Hallowell was sometimes called “Lee School. It is unknown why Hallowell was referred to as the Lee School. George and his wife Lucinda Seaton were freed people of color in the early 1800. Lucinda was a former slave of General George Washington. George and Lucinda had the following children: George Lewis, Adolphus, Thomas, Hannah, Mary Ann, Catherine, Lucinda, Sarah, Martha, Laura and John Andrew. George and Lucinda’s son George Lewis Seaton became the first #AfricanAmerican State Legislator in #Virginia. Seaton was a master carpenter, grocer, and real estate developer, and a founder of the Colored Odd Fellows. In the black neighborhood called “The Bottoms", he also built an Odd Fellows Hall that African Americans used as a meeting place. Seaton was the founder of the Free School Society of Alexandria and built the Lee School as one of the first two black public schools. When the City of #Alexandria took over the Colored Girls School, the School was named Hallowell after a white educator in Alexandria. This class picture is displayed in the Viola Lawson Lobby of Alexandria #CityHall #MarketSquare #TBT #BacktoSchool #BlackHistory #AmericanHistory #ACPS #Education #BlackExcellence #GeorgeSeaton Source: TheOtherAlexandria.Com * The young girl pictured second row, third from the right, looks exactly like a young lady my daughter went to school with in Alexandria. * (at Alexandria, Virginia)

T U E S D A Y - T O P - T E N
-10 academy award nominated pictures that i love [that were made before 2000]-
.
AIRPORT [1970.george SEATON]
an entertaining and exciting [back then] blockbuster that might not be too complex or too deep but still works wonders juggling a dozen characters and its story lines.
APOCALYPSE NOW! [1979.francis ford COPPOLA]
an epic tale of war and how mad it is really; featuring memorable scenes and mind-blowing sequences it is a roller coaster ride that still makes your heart jump.
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST [1991.gary TROUSDALE & kirk WISE]
one of the best animated pictures and one of the best musicals; this love story is a wonder to listen and watch with its many catchy tunes and spectacular numbers.
a CLOCKWORK ORANGE [1971.stanley KUBRICK]
this very famous film is filled with some of the most iconic elements: a controversial plot, a classic music score and a creature of evil as the lead character.
DOG DAY AFTERNOON [1975.sidney LUMET]
a comedy that ends in a tragedy; this film is filled with the most ironic plot lines and full of outrageous over-the-top yet completely believable gags.
E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL [1982.steven SPIELBERG]
one of the most classic family movies so sweet and so tender that you will miss some of its darker pieces about life and death.
STAR WARS - EPISODE IV - A NEW HOPE [1977.george LUCAS]
perhaps the biggest pop culture event ever, it is a trendsetter for so many things and still this space opera still has what made it so fresh and fun in the first place.
the THIN RED LINE [1998.terrence MALICK]
the iconic man's return to business is a deep and profound reflection on war [and life even] and those pawns that are a part of.
the WIZARD OF OZ [1939.victor FLEMING]
this tale of a lost girl is a subtle coming of age story drowned deep below a fantastic fantasy land and the melodious musical numbers.
12 ANGRY MEN [1957.sidney LUMET]
most plays will not work inside a screen but this one is so electric and energetic that you are trapped inside with that jury as well.
