Geocrinia otwaysensis is a newly discovered from species from the Otway Ranges area of south-west Victoria.
It was discovered and named by the Snake Man Raymond Hoser after doing extensive fieldwork in the area over many decades. Hoser is the world's foremost expert on reptiles and frogs.

Two mating Geocrinia otwaysensis Hoser, 2020, a spectacular recently discovered species of frog from south-west Victoria, Australia. It has got to be the sexiest frog ever discovered in the State of Victoria and is well and truly endemic, being confined to the Otways in south-west Victoria.  They are out and about and breeding this week (mid March 2023). Geocrinia otwaysensis was only discovered and formally named by Snakeman Raymond Hoser in 2020 in one of the big frog monographs of the Lockdown period. This taxon was previously treated as a population of the well known Geocrinia victoriana or similarly well-known Geocrinia laevis. In fact it is neither! Geocrinia otwaysensis is separated from both other species by call, colouration in the groin (or lack of it in terms of distinctive black bordering and marbling) and even different tadpoles. Speaking of frogs in the greater Geocrinia group .... PS Anstisia Webster and Bool, 2022 is an illegally coined junior synonym of Wellingtondella Hoser, 2020. Two amateur zoologists, masquerading as scientists have just bootlegged the work of Hoser (2020) to attempt to illegally rename the frog genus Wellingtondella Hoser, 2020, as Anstisia Webster and Bool, 2022.The two thieves even stooped so low as to cite the Wuster et al. (2012) rant, better known as Kaiser et al. (2013) as their justification. Recall the ICZN squashed that plan in 2021 by voting against Kaiser et al. and Rhodin et al. (2015). It goes without saying that the fake science was published in the notorious online PRINO (Peer reviewed in name only) "journal" Zootaxa! The lying thieves even went so far as stealing the work of Hoser (2020), relying on the same diagnostic characters as Hoser, but being so low as to not even cite the work from where they stole their alleged new discovery! If this is not the lowest form of fake science possible, then who knows what is?
