Addio a “Gavino la cambiale”
Sassari.

Just a little writing I've been doing...
The road whizzed speedily beneath the tires of Jaymond’s parents’ car, the dotted lines zipping past as they sped along the road. They had received a letter in the mail the day before urgently requesting them for a meeting pertaining to SPECTER. The only other thing it told them was to pack some luggage for a couple days. Considering Rallif had already packed enough clothes for the rest of break, he didn’t have to worry about that part of the letter.
Richard rolled the car onto the circular driveway of the Tobin mansion. There were many other vehicles crowding it, but he managed to snake his way up near the main entrance. He parked the car, and he told the two students goodbye as they stepped out of the vehicle. Jaymond went around the back and opened the car trunk. They pulled out their luggage and headed towards the front door. Jaymond heard his parents leave. Its sound faded into the distance.
Rallif reached the porch first, but he hesitated to knock. He tightened his mouth into a straight line.
“Is something wrong?” Jaymond asked. Rallif looked at him, and he could see worry in his friend’s eyes.
“I don’t know,” Rallif said. He raised his fist and rapped on the door. It was swung open by a specter, one Jaymond didn’t know the name of. They stepped inside and dropped their luggage in the entry hall. They made their way into the main room. It was crowded with specters, including all the mentors, but there was no sign of Baker. Rallif stood by the wall and Jaymond joined him.
Over the noise, he heard Mr. Tobin shout for attention. The room quieted down. Jaymond pushed through the throng of people much taller than himself so he could see the man. Gwenn stood in the center of the crowd with a ring of breathing room around him.
“Everyone,” he started. “As you know, my son, Baker, conspired with the fugitive, Fanuco Tuoin, and stole the discs. Yesterday, he ran away after I discovered he was doing it again. I have called you here for this reason: we must find him at all costs before they find each other.”
He continued. “Eisen Terrik, you are Baker’s mentor and know him well. I want you to take a party of four, including yourself, to search the highways and main roads. Get started immediately."
"Gallium, I want you to head a team as well to search for Fanuco in the city and nearby towns in case he is still wandering around the area. Mr. Drevery, Jaymond, and Rallif, I would like to speak with you privately.”
“The rest of you,” he said and gestured widely. “Be on the lookout for either Fanuco or my son.”
He dismissed them, and the congregation funneled towards the entry hall. Jaymond joined Rallif and his mentor in the living room to wait for further instruction. As Gwenn headed towards them, Mari intercepted him.
“Sir, why aren’t I doing anything?”
He looked down on her with false empathy in his gaze.
“I’m sorry, but you’re just too close to Baker. You might compromise the mission.”
“But Eisen-”
Mr. Tobin let his mouth droop.
“You are dismissed, Miss Winstrow.”
She scowled, but turned around and exited the mansion. When the only people left were the three Gwenn had requested, he shut the door and headed towards them.
“You three will be joining me in searching for Baker. I know he’s headed for the southern region, and we may be able to intercept him.”
“If I may ask,” Jaymond interrupted. “Why us?”
“Well, I picked Scrimle because I’m not an idiot,” the man said and glared at the boy. “I picked you and Gavino to make sure he doesn’t get lost.”
Jaymond looked at Rallif.
“What’s he talking about?”
Rallif rubbed his arm and avoided his gaze.
“Rallif, tell us,” his mentor commanded.
“Fine. It was me. I was the one working with Cinco.”
His mentor frowned, but he did not scold his apprentice. He moved his gaze and rested it on Gwenn.
“So you lied to the others.”
“It is better if they do not know the truth,” the white-haired man replied.
“What makes you think I won’t tell them?” Gavino asked. The two men exchanged a knowing glance.
Jaymond felt unnerved by this fleeting interaction between the two. The specters were theoretically all meant to be equal, including the head which was only a position to schedule meetings and to lead them in certain operations. However, he was becoming increasingly aware just how unjust and unequal the organization really was.
“We’re going to have to take your vehicle as well, Gavino.”
“Why? What’s wrong with yours?”
“It’s at the mechanic, waiting on a new battery.”
Rallif’s mentor glanced at the door to the garage.
“Surely you can-”
His challenge lit a flame in Mr. Tobin’s eyes, and the man bared his teeth.
“I am not taking one of my vintage cars on the road,” he snarled. Rallif’s mentor seemed to shrink.
“Yes, sir,” he breathed. “Of course. I understand.”
...
Rallif watched the interaction between his mentor and Baker’s father with curiosity. He had never seen Mr. Tobin so angry before. Likewise, he had never seen his mentor as anything but indignant or neutral. Now, he had become as small and meek as a lamb. Mr. Tobin saw what he had caused in the man and bowed his head in embarrassment. He looked towards where the two apprentices were standing.
“Go get your things and head out. We’ll be after you in a moment.”
They whisked towards the entry hall and grabbed their bags. Rallif caught a glimpse of Gwenn approaching his mentor as he closed the door behind them. Jaymond dropped his luggage on the now nearly empty driveway and dropped his shoulders.
“What was that?” he asked.
“I-I don’t know,” Rallif stuttered. “Gavino has never acted like that for anyone.”
They sat down on the pavement next to each other. Rallif looked into his friend’s eyes and saw his own concern reflected back at him.
“I’m more worried about Mr. Tobin,” Jaymond admitted. “Maybe…he’s probably worried about his son and that’s why…”
The boy looked down at his lap. Rallif reached his hand out and grasped Jaymond’s. Jaymond glanced up at him with a look of surprise. Rallif tilted his head, and for the first time in a long while, he smiled.
He heard the door open behind him and yanked his hand away. His usual frown returned. He and Jaymond stood and faced Mr. Tobin and Mr. Drevery. Gavino looked tired, and so did his companion. The four headed towards the mentor’s vehicle and loaded their luggage into it. They got in, none of them ready to say goodbye to the city just yet, but it was time to leave nevertheless. Rallif’s mentor started the engine and drove them away from the mansion.

Her name is Dr. Roxie Gavino, an engineer scientist and I’m mentally ill over her.

After our last session I’ve quickly become obsessed with her younger superhero sibling Event Horizon as well, meaning I had to do childhood doodles,,
The two of them make me sick; they haven’t spoken in years but now they’re working together,, but things aren’t the same as they used to be,, on top of the fact she has a secret robot child which is a whole thing in itself
