"The Competition." From the Chandogya Upanishad, the Exploration of the Mysteries of the Priesthood.
Chapter XVII − Penances for Mistakes in the Sacrifice
1 Prajapati brooded over the worlds; from them, thus brooded over, he squeezed the essences: agni (fire- speech) from the earth (the body), vayu (air-thought) from the mid−region and aditya (the sun-intelligence) from heaven.
2 He brooded over these three deities; from them, thus brooded over, he squeezed the essences. The Rik−verses from fire, the Yajus−verses from the air and the Saman−verses from the sun.
3 He brooded over the threefold knowledge (i.e. the three Vedas); from them, thus brooded over, he squeezed the essences: Bhuh (the earth, the ground) from the Rik−verses, Bhuvah (the residence) from the Yajus−verses and Svah (homage) from the Saman−verses.
4 If the sacrifice is injured with regard to the Rik−verses, one should then offer a libation in the Garhapatya Fire saying: "Bhuh Svaha!" Thus is healed the injury with regard to the
Rik−verses by means of the essence and the power of the Rik−verses themselves.
5-If the sacrifice is injured with regard to the Yajus−verses, one should then offer a libation in the Southern (Dakshina) Fire, saying: "Bhuvah Svaha !" Thus is healed the injury with regard to the Yajus−verses by means of the essence and the power of the Yajus−verses themselves.
6 If the sacrifice is injured with regard to the Saman−verses, one should then offer a libation in the Ahavaniya Fire, saying: "Svah Svaha!" Thus is healed the injury with regard to the Saman (Steadiness, the Foundation of the Mind)−verses by means of the essence and the power of the Saman−verses themselves.
7−8 As one binds gold by means of borax and silver by means of gold and tin by means of silver and lead by means of tin and iron by means of lead and wood by means of iron or leather,
Likewise one heals any injury done to the sacrifice with the power of these worlds, these gods and these three Vedas. That sacrifice is well healed in which there is a Brahma priest who knows this.
9−10 That sacrifice is inclined to the north in which there is a Brahma priest who knows this. And with regard to such a Brahma priest, there is the following gatha: "Wherever it is injured, thither he (the Brahma priest) goes."
The silent Brahma alone, as one or the priests, protects the sacrificer, as a mare protects a warrior.
Because the Brahma priest who knows this protects the sacrifice, the sacrificer and all the priests, one should therefore make a person who knows this the Brahma priest and not one who knows it not, yea, not one who knows it not.
These verses are about how life mobilizes and then navigates. “Om Bhu Bhuvah Svaha” “The earth, my body, the places that house me are none other than the Abode of the Great Soul.”
The reference to a “mare that protects the warrior” is another clue as to what the tedium of these verses mean. How does a female horse that is retained from battle his protector?
Without the herd, an army is helpless. It cannot deliver or receive messages, moves or receives no cargo or foodstuffs. Since this is not a military school, who is the mare and what is happening in the mind, that a herd of horses are needed to sustain it?
The Vedas are referred to over and over in this section, and so are the faculties. Together they constitute a purposeful way to live life, and leave the world behind in good condition without regrets.
Without study and reflection and all the great teachers around the world, we are all just victims of the world’s great losers and cheaters. The first job of the priest when these have control over the spiritual attitude of the earth, such as they do now .is to ensure the Voice of God is heard over and above them.
That is where the sin is, where the pain is and all the injuries, because there is competition. And it lies all of the time.
There must not be dissent over how well we are able to treat other people or care about their needs. Persons and political groups that are raising hell in opposition to this need to be silenced and it is the job of the priest to help people find the will power and hope to do it.
Barring that, if you haven't seen Mitt Romney's porn tape, the one where he fucks his own kids with a garden hose in the light of day, you haven't quite lived yet. And that was just the beginning...
Ask President Biden today if your kids might be next. Because they sure could be. Mitt's got 300 cases of child molestation pending and counting...and that doesn't include the adolescents and adults he's molested. And everyone in his party knows he does it, too.
What are the implications of a US Government and National Religion run by men like these racists and rapists? Men that try to crush every inkling of spiritual life deemed essential by the Scriptures?
ASK JOE BIDEN WHO HAS WATCHED IT ALL HAPPEN RIGHT UNDER HIS NOSE. AGAIN.

Imagining Your Mind As A Horse
Here’s a translation for this quarter.
Source: http://fodizi.net/fojiaogushi/22837.html
TRANSLATION STARTS
One upon a time, there was a king who had trained a batch of horses for battle with an invading neighbour. Fearing the might of the kingdom’s cavalry, the invaders eventually withdrew.
Shortly after the victory, the king thought, “The purpose of training these horses was to deter my kingdom’s enemies. Now that my goal has been achieved, I have no use for them. I should send them to other people who can put them to more efficient use.”
And so the king issued the order to send the horses to his subjects who were in need of horses. For several years which followed this deployment, the horses were tethered to yokes in horse mills, where they were merely trotting in circles to grind grain. One day, the king received word that the kingdom’s neighbours were preparing to attack his kingdom again, so he ordered a recall on the horses. Unfortunately, as the horses had already acclimatised to their work at the horse mills, they were only willing to trot around in circles instead of charging forward, regardless of what their handlers did.
According to the Buddha, all sentient beings resemble the horses in this story. To escape from Samsara (the endless cycle of births, deaths and rebirths), we should focus on the root of the problem by letting go of the Five Desires [wealth, sex, fame, delicious food and excessive amounts of sleep]. If we allow ourselves to indulge in the Five Desires, then once the armies of Impermanence invade us, we will be held fast by these desires and cannot leave Samsara to attain Enlightenment.
The Buddha follows up with a gatha:
Use wisdom to train your mind, do not indulge in the Five Desires;
If one does not train his mind, he will still yearn for this world;
If one’s mind is not attuned, how can he find true peace?
If a mind lusts for the Five Desires, it will not be aware of its aimlessness;
If one’s mind is not attuned, how can he find true peace?
If a mind lusts for the Five Desires, it will not be aware of its aimlessness;
Like a horse that is not trained for battle, trotting in circles in front of the enemy.
Our interpretation:
The Buddha is an unrivalled trainer who describes our minds as horses and advocates training our minds to obtain wisdom. We can start by watching our thoughts by constantly examining, reviewing and eliminating the Five Desires which are fetters that binds us to Samsara. A mind that indulges in the short-term joy that the Five Desires bring is akin to a horse which used to be a well-trained charger being imprisoned in a horse mill and performing an endless task of trotting around in circles, never leaving Samsara. But if a mind is able to constantly exercise its awareness, maintaining a state of mindfulness and ignoring the short-term joy that the Five Desires bring, it will function just like a well-trained charger which can advance bravely against the armies of Mara (the demon lord which tempted Prince Siddhartha), overcome them and attain Enlightenment.
