A weekend vacation to Jekyll Island
This is a sponsored post, but all opinions are my own. :)
Only a five hour drive from Atlanta, Zach and I hopped in the car with the dogs and headed to Jekyll Island for a long weekend getaway. Being our first time there, we used the Jekyll Island website to plan our trip. Although the island is small, it’s packed with plenty to do that will keep you going the whole time. It’s extremely clean, quiet (perhaps because we went before school let out for the summer), and one of the most dog friendly places I’ve ever been - woohoo!
We stayed in a spacious suite at the ocean-front Holiday Inn Resort. Our balcony overlooked the ocean so every morning we spent some time waking up to the sound of waves hitting the shore. The room came with two queen sized beds, a kitchenette (full-sized fridge, microwave, stove top, and sink), two tv’s, and the living room had pull-out couch. If cooking is more your vibe, this is the way to go. You won’t find any big-box grocery stores on the island, so you may want to bring some groceries with you. You can also pick up a variety of groceries and local provisions at the nearby Jekyll Market or hit a larger grocery story right before the entrance to the island. Parking was easy, and the property featured several gas fire pits, a kids’ playground, a gorgeous pool, cabana sitting areas, a coffee and martini bar, fitness center, several beach access points, bike rentals, and a dog-friendly restaurant called “Beach House” on site.
We are the type of people who like to stay active on vacation and bring our dogs as much as possible so we tried to fit in as much in as possible and adjusted as necessary considering there was a bit of rain for a few days while we were there. First on the list was taking our dogs to the beach! It was drizzling when we got in on Friday afternoon but after we settled in we took the dogs out to the beach right outside of our hotel. They LOVED it and we ran up and down the beach with them. This was also the day we realized the tides change quite noticeably on the island which was unique to see.
Saturday was filled with sunshine so we hit up the Summer Waves Waterpark first thing in the morning and checked out all of the slides! That afternoon we ventured around Beach Village which is a small shopping center featuring several restaurants, shops, and Jekyll Market. Lastly we caught the beautiful sunset while exploring Driftwood Beach. This beach is dog-friendly and filled with the remains of fallen trees due to many years of erosion. It’s one of the most photogenic places we went and was voted one of America’s “Ten Most Romantic Beaches.”
Sunday stormed so our hotel lost power a few times so it was PERFECT that we had tickets to go behind- the- scenes at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Because they take care of animals, they have generators  to continuously power the hospital. Although the general entry gives you an inside look at turtle care and is open rain or shine, I HIGHLY recommend the behind-the-scenes tour. We happened to be in the vet area when they brought in a turtle who needed blood work done which was incredible to witness! You also get to see where the food is kept, see the other turtles not out on public view, and ask all of the questions you want - it was truly an incredible thing to experience. During the lighter drizzle times, we walked around the Historic District admiring the beautiful historic buildings and large trees covered in Spanish Moss. That evening, when the weather had cleared up, we took a spontaneous sunset dolphin tour with hilarious husband-and-wife duo tour guides. We saw a ton of birds, learned all about the ecosystem of the island, learned a little history, and of course saw dolphins at sunset!
Knowing the weather on Monday was going to be incredibly sunny, but we had to check out by 11, we woke up early to take full advantage of the time we had left. We finally rented bikes and took advantage of the islands 25 miles of paved bike paths. These paths almost always keep you separate from the road allowing for you to venture out on a bike with the family in a very safe way. This made for a unique and beautiful way to see the island! Of course, we ended our trip with one last visit to the beach with the pups and said goodbye to a wonderful weekend getaway.
Below are a few bullet lists for dog friendly places, activities we did and didn’t do, and a few extra tips!
Although not a full list, here are a few dog friendly places that we visited while on Jekyll Island:
The Holiday Inn Resort
Oceanview Beach Park of the Holiday Inn Resort
Driftwood Beach
Walking through the beautiful Historic District
The expansive bike path is also shared by dog walkers and runners alike
Sunrise Grille Restaurant
Beach House Restaurant
Tortuga Jacks Mexican Restaurant
To note, there are plenty of other places to eat that have outside seating, but because they aren’t full service restaurants it would require you to either tie up your dog outside while you go in, or have an additional person to wait outside while you go inside to order. To name a few: all of the places inside of the Jekyll Market including Hibiscus Cafe, Boardwalk Deli, The Love Shack BBQ, and A Sweet Shop Named Sprinkles. Fuse for froyo, The Westin Cafe for Starbucks coffee, and Red Bug Motors Pizza and Pub. My recommendation is to call ahead if you aren’t sure.
Activities that kept us moving and a few others we didn’t get to:
Summer Waves Waterpark
Driftwood Beach
Biking
Georgia Sea Turtle Center
Dolphin tours
Stand-up Paddle Boarding/Kayaking
Mini golf and/or regular golf
Tennis
Mosaic, the Jekyll Island Museum
Horseback riding
A few extra tips:
Heads up, there is a parking pass that you must purchase when you first arrive.
Bring bug spray or purchase the local spray called “No Natz” found at several local stores.
Dogs must be leashed at all times and the leashes can’t be longer than 16ft. So happy about this so other people’s dogs can’t just come up to yours and cause a potentially dangerous situation.
Dogs are allowed on beaches except South Beach between South Dunes Picnic Area and 2,000' northeast of St. Andrews Sound Picnic Area, to protect nesting shore birds..
Be careful about walking out to the sand bars on the beach as the tide rolls in and out 8 feet every six and a half hours. Also, plan your beach visits accordingly as I had no clue about the tide and there are times when the water completely covers the sand. Mother Nature is so cool!
The water is not clear, but it’s not because of pollution. In fact, the water is very nutrient dense which allows for all of the thriving wildlife!
If you’re a fellow lover of Jekyll Island and have any recommendations that we missed, please leave them in the comments below so myself and others can enjoy during their next trip!

Doctors Say Shortage of Protective Gear Is Dire (NYT) The Open Cities Community Health Center in St. Paul, Minn., is considering shutting down because it doesn’t have enough face masks. Doctors at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis are performing invasive procedures on coronavirus patients with loose fitting surgical masks rather than the tight respirator masks recommended by health agencies. At a Los Angeles emergency room, doctors were given a box of expired masks, and when they tried to put them on, the elastic bands snapped. With coronavirus cases soaring, doctors, nurses and other front-line medical workers across the United States are confronting a dire shortage of masks, surgical gowns and eye gear to protect them from the virus. Doctors said they were increasingly anxious, fearing they could expose not only themselves to the virus, but their families and others.
Translating a Surveillance Tool into a Virus Tracker for Democracies (NYT) Health officials and scientists in Britain hope to soon begin testing the first smartphone app that would alert people who had come in contact with someone infected with the coronavirus. The project is an urgent effort by the British authorities to translate a surveillance tool deployed to fight China’s outbreak into something more palatable in Western democracies. Unlike the smartphone-tracking system used by the Chinese government, the British project would rely entirely on voluntary participation and would bank on people sharing information out of a sense of civic duty. Such cooperation might have been unthinkable only a few weeks ago, but is expected to gain traction amid mounting deaths and economic disaster. The effort would involve an official app associated with the country’s National Health System, said researchers at the University of Oxford who are working on it with the government. People would sign up for the program and would agree to share their location data for the duration of the pandemic, or as long as they kept the app. The researchers said the government could make assurances about deleting the data and would not make the movements of infected individuals fully public, as has been done in South Korea.
Californians ordered to stay at home (Los Angeles Times) Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday ordered Californians to stay at home, marking the first mandatory restrictions placed on the lives of all 40 million residents in the state’s fight against the novel coronavirus. The governor’s action comes at a critical time in California, where 19 people have died and at least 1,000 have tested positive for the disease, and it appeared to be the most far-reaching directive of any issued by states battling the epidemic. The mandatory order allows Californians to continue to visit gas stations, pharmacies, grocery stores, farmers markets, food banks, convenience stores, takeout and delivery restaurants, banks and laundromats. People can leave their homes to care for a relative or a friend or seek healthcare services.
New York restrictions (Washington Post) New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered all workers in his state to stay home, except for those in essential services.
Floridians fret over coronavirus as young revelers try to keep the party going (Washington Post) MIAMI--Some of the most Instagrammable beaches in the world, barricaded. Wet Willie’s--home of the 26-flavor daiquiri bar--reduced to peddling take out. Neon-tinted dens of iniquity from Ocean Drive to Fort Lauderdale Beach under curfew or patrolled by cops ready to break up a good time. This is what the novel coronavirus has wrought in Party Central, USA: Operation Cancel Spring Break. And yet, what worries millions of Floridians--particularly an elderly population more susceptible to the coronavirus--is that across the Sunshine State a whole mess of body-contact-loving spring breakers haven’t got the memo. The throngs of scantily clad students have unquestionably thinned during the past 24 hours, officials say. But gone, they most definitely are not.
Christmas lights to brighten spirits during the crisis (CNN) As coronavirus has infected every state in the nation and people are stuck inside their homes in an attempt to prevent it from spreading even more, things are feeling a little bleak. So some are trying to spread a little hope and cheer instead. People around the country are putting up their Christmas lights. The idea is that twinkling, colorful lights will lift spirits during these dark times. And it doubles as a social distancing activity: people can admire the lights from the safety of their own homes or cars.
Mexico and U.S. agree to partial closure of border (Washington Post) The United States and Mexico have reached an agreement for a partial closure of the border, according to U.S. and Mexican officials. Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard announced the closure on Twitter, and President Trump and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed the deal at a White House briefing Friday. “We are not talking about a closure of the border with the U.S. because it is not that,” Ebrard said early Friday. “It will be restricted; it will be restricted for cases that are related to tourism and recreation.” It remains unclear how the two countries will determine which travelers to stop at the border. Roughly one million people cross legally between the countries every day.
Chile’s Pinera under pressure to declare national quarantine over coronavirus (Reuters) Chilean president Sebastian Pinera is under growing pressure to announce a national quarantine by opposition leaders, medical experts and local mayors, who have launched their own measures to try to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.
European leaders test positive (Foreign Policy) Prince Albert of Monaco and Michel Barnier, the European Union’s chief Brexit negotiator, both announced positive coronavirus tests on Thursday, the latest in a string of high-profile figures to contract COVID-19.
Italy Overtakes China as Worst-Hit Country (Foreign Policy) Italy’s death toll from its coronavirus epidemic has now reached 3,405, eclipsing the 3,245 coronavirus-related deaths in China, now the world’s second highest. Although Italy registered fewer deaths than the day before, it announced over 5,000 new cases on Thursday.
NATO scales down exercises (Foreign Policy) NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said the alliance will be reducing its military exercises in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. The U.S. army has already said it would scale back the exercise Defender Europe 20, a division-sized deployment of forces that would have represented the largest movement of U.S. forces to Europe in 25 years. Stoltenberg said that the crisis was not a reason for member states to cut military spending, citing the need for the military’s help in combating the virus.
Emerging market currencies pummeled (Nikkei Asian Review) Emerging market currencies have been pummeled by the novel coronavirus pandemic as frightened investors pull money out of economically vulnerable corners of the world. India’s rupee fell to a record-low 75 against the dollar on Thursday while the Indonesian rupiah touched 15,400 against the greenback at one point, a level not seen since the Asian currency crisis in 1998. Those nations are scrambling to support their economies through rate cuts, fueling currency sell-offs. The pandemic that has upended people’s lives across the globe is now threatening an economic crisis in those regions.
Vietnam extends quarantine to all foreign arrivals from March 21 (Reuters) Vietnam will extend a quarantine regime for incoming travelers, placing all international arrivals in adapted military bases from March 21 to curb the spread of the coronavirus, its health ministry said on Friday.
Japan quietly reopens as much of world locks down (Nikkei Asian Review) Businesses and schools in Japan are gradually moving out of a voluntary shutdown called for by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe last month, as the coronavirus crisis brings into focus the question of how to balance the economy and public health. Economic pressure is especially intense in smaller cities and rural areas, which have been hit hardest by the sudden grounding of tourism, even as Abe’s own medical experts point out that the number of cases is still on the rise and that the risk of rapid spread remains. On Thursday, the government’s panel of coronavirus experts made an interim assessment of the situation in Japan, saying the outbreak has been kept under control--but only barely. Still, the panel advised the government to allow the easing of restrictions in places where no new cases have been reported.
One-two punch of new virus, falling oil prices threaten Iraq (AP) The economic fallout from the coronavirus coupled with a sudden drop in oil prices is threatening to catapult Iraq into an unprecedented crisis. The crude-exporting country is struggling to finance measures to contain the pandemic amid a leadership void in the federal government, and the unexpected oil price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia is further exacerbating budget shortfalls as losses accrue daily in trade, commerce, tourism and transportation. “This epidemic is striking our economy more than it is striking our health,” said Thamir Gharib, a hotel owner in Karbala.

A 36-player Checklist for Willie Taggart and FSU’s 2019 Recruiting Class
Florida State finished strong on the recruiting trail in 2018, and now fans want to see that same magic created in Tallahassee that was present in Oregon, which at one time boasted the top-ranked class in 2018.
National Signing Day was last week, but the next one is right around the corner and work already is being done on the trail. FSU already has four commitments, including three from in-state players.
There are numerous recruiting services and plenty of players to look at. But my thought is “simplicity,” so I’ve put together the “Big Game 36” list. The list will be fluid and updated, but for now, here are 36 prospects FSU fans should watch for in 2019. If FSU lands 25 of these guys, it’s a top-five class, easy.
RELATED: An in-depth look at Florida State’s 2018 recruiting class
Things change in recruiting and I’m just now getting adjusted to the 2019 board, so this current list is a combination of what I feel FSU needs, the players I’ve heard they are after and, frankly, guys I think are “war daddies and bad asses” from my knowledge as a former player and developer of talent.
The biggest needs to be addressed are quarterback, center, offensive tackle, tight end, inside linebacker, outside linebacker and – until I see more playmakers on the field – wide receiver.
Defensive tackle, cornerback, safety, defensive end and guard are depth and quality needs. Running backs? I like running backs, and there are some in this class I just want.
Here are the 36; current FSU commitments are denoted with an asterisk. The players are listed alphabetically by position.
OFFENSE
Quarterback (2) Jayden Daniels (6 feet 3, 170 pounds), San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon Sam Howell (6-1, 217), Monroe (N.C.) Sun Valley Michael Johnson Jr. (6-4, 190), Eugene (Ore.) Sheldon Taisun Phommachanh (6-3, 186), Avon (Conn.) Avon Old Farms School
Running back (1-2) Peter Hayes-Patrick (5-10, 180), Orlando Timber Creek Trey Sanders (5-11, 216), Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
RELATED: What the 9 FSU players invited to the NFL Scouting Combine need to do there
Wide receiver (3-4) Kenyon Jackson (6-5, 200), Loganville (Ga.) Grayson Frank Ladson (6-4, 170), Homestead (Fla.) South Dade Jashawn Sheffield (6-1, 178), Saint Simons Island (Ga.) Frederica Academy Jeremiah Payton (6-3, 180), Jacksonville Beach Fletcher
Tight end (2) Hudson Henry (6-5, 225), Little Rock (Ark.) Pulaski Academy Keon Zipperer (6-2, 240), Lakeland (Fla.) High
Linemen (3-4) G Deyavie Hammond (6-4, 320), Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy G Dontae Lucas (6-3, 323), Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy T Adrian Medley (6-4, 305), Pensacola (Fla.) High T Harry Miller (6-4, 310), Buford (Ga.) High T William Putnam (6-4, 280), Tampa Plant
RELATED: Bobby Bowden-era mat drills made a difference in those Florida State teams
DEFENSE
Tackles (0-2) Ishmael Sopsher (6-5, 279), Amite (La.) High Tru Thompson* (6-0, 338), Loganville (Ga.) Grayson
End (3) Khris Bogle (6-4, 207), Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons Quashon Fuller* (6-3, 240), Lehigh Acres (Fla.) Lehigh Derick Hunter (6-6, 281), Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar Mike Morris* (6-5, 250), Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage Jaquaze Sorrells (6-3, 270), Largo (Fla.) High (some schools recruiting as a DT) Lloyd Summerall (6-6, 218), Auburndale (Fla.) High
Inside linebacker (2) Nakobe Dean (6-0, 215), Horn Lake (Miss.) High Shane Lee (6-1, 240), Baltimore St. Frances Academy
Outside linebacker (1-2) Ge’mon Eaford (6-1, 220), Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High Owen Pappoe (6-0, 211), Loganville (Ga.) Grayson) Anthony Solomon (6-0, 200), Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas
Cornerback (2-3) Jaden Davis (5-10, 165), Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas Akeem Dent* (6-0, 175), from West Palm Beach (Fla.) Palm Beach Central
Safety (1-2) Cortez Andrews (6-2, 205), Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby Daxton Hill (6-1, 190), Tulsa (Okla.) Booker T. Washington
Athlete (1-2) Tyrique Stevenson (6-2, 195), Homestead (Fla.) South Dade Raymond Woodie III (6-1, 185), Tallahassee (Fla.) Florida High
I think FSU takes 25-plus in the 2019 cycle.
In 2018, because of a late start and an already-developed board from Oregon, Willie Taggart took a more nationwide approach. I still think the ability to recruit nationwide is a strong suit, but there’s a ton of talent in Florida. Go out of state and pull in top talent like Dean, Sopsher, Phommachanh and/or Howell, but lock up the state of Florida. It’s a different breed of football here.
One thing Jimbo Fisher didn’t do consistently was sign talent from FSU’s backyard – the “big bend” area of Florida. Andrews and Woodie, who is the son of FSU linebacker coach Raymond Woodie, should be ’Noles. There are some names that I wanted to include and who may be added, such as ATH Travis Jay from Madison (Fla.) Madison County, but it’s a challenge making the board short.
RELATED: A 6-point plan for Willie Taggart to get FSU back to its dominant ways
There’s a ton of talent around the state that will make the “Big Game 36” list as others fall off because of commitments elsewhere, better fits and/or a mutual lack of interest.
If you have your own 36, feel free to hit me up or share yours.

The Toadies Announce New Record, 'The Lower Side of Uptown' Out on September 8th with a U.S. Tour Planned in the Fall; 10th Annual Dia de los Toadies Festival to Return to Possum Kingdom Lake on September 16th
Tumblr media
2017 is shaping up to be a great year for Toadies Fans. The North Texas legend that is revered nationwide will be releasing their new album this September, and for those who have caught a show recently and heard some samplings from it then you know it’s going to be incredible. Of course, a U.S. tour will follow in order to support the record; and their annual festival, Dia de los Toadies, will get moved back to the early fall after the previous installment happened in the summer of 2016. On that note, since this year will mark the tenth Dia it’s only fitting that they go back to where the first one was held, Possum Hollow at Possum Kingdom Lake set to host the event on September 16th. Seeing as that will be about a week after the release of The Lower Side Of Uptown, it’s safe to assume they’ll serve up plenty of new tracks along with all the classics and surely some deeper cuts. It will be legendary and something no Toadies fan will want to miss. Below is more info about their current goings on as stated in the press release...
Toadies will release their next album The Lower Side Of Uptown September 8th via Kirtland Records. This will be the band's seventh studio album and a 'return to form' as explained by frontman Vaden Todd Lewis: "This album is 'roots Toadies", full of riffs and time shifts.' The Lower Side Of Uptown is the follow up to 2015's Heretics which saw the band taking a change of pace with a stripped down sound and mostly acoustic. When they were preparing to enter the studio this time around there was no set idea for what was to come but, the process ultimately had the band going back to their signature sound: "I feel that subconsciously we thought that this record would have ended up incorporating some of that quieter sound, but that didn't happen. When we got to the studio with nothing more than a pile of riffs, what came out of the band was really loud and heavy music. So not only is this album louder than Heretics, I think it's louder and heavier than the last couple Toadies albums" guitarist Clark Vogeler said of the sessions, which were recorded Arlyn Studio, a favorite of the legendary Willie Nelson, and The Bubble in Austin.   Long time collaborators, producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith, along with mixer Rob Schnapf once again joined the band in the studio for the new set. Frenchie produced the last 'loud rock' album from the band: 2012's Play. Rock. Music., and Rob produced Heretics and Feeler, and co-producedRubberneck and Hell Below/Stars Above. Vogeler adds: "Recording with Frenchie is always an interesting experience. He brings such enthusiasm to the process that it's infectious. He's got a great ear for what makes a good rock 'n' roll record, and as much as anyone else, he put his heart and soul into this record." The cover imagery for The Lower Side of Uptown was done by renowned comic artist Michael Lark, the artist of the critically-acclaimed, Eisner-nominated series LAZARUS from Image Comics. Since 1992, Lark has provided artwork for a variety of comics including Daredevil, Captain Americaand Winter Soldier and books for Marvel and DC/Vertigo. He collaborated on the critically acclaimed, multiple-award-winning Gotham Central with Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka at DC Comics. Since reuniting in 2008, after disbanding in 2001 Toadies have released 4 albums, played hundreds of shows and festivals, released 4 signature craft beers, and have been featured in an X-Men comic. Last month they partnered with the Texas Rangers to release their own version of 'Take Me To The Ballgame.'  This year, the band continues that busy streak with The Lower Side Of Uptown showcased on a cross-country tour over two months along with Chicago's Local H. on the bill. The band are stoked to tour with an act they got to know at their own Dia De Los Toadies festival says drummer Mark 'Rez' Reznicek: "We're super excited to be going on tour with Local H, a band we've long been fans of. We've wanted to tour with them for years, and it's finally happening!" Toadies have also hosted and played nine Dia De Los Toadies festivals. This year's Dia De Los Toadies 10 will be returning to Possum Hollow at Possum Kingdom Lake. How to Handle a Blocked Drain Adelaide
A blocked drain Adelaide is always a pain and dealing with a blockage can seem complicated if you don’t know what you’re up to.
Below are some tips to help you learn how to unblock a blocked drain Adelaide and get your drainage and plumbing systems running smoothly again.
Please keep reading below to:
Identify a drain with a blockage.
Clearing a blocked drain Adelaide.
Prevent a blocked drain Adelaide in the future.
Know your responsibility for unblocking public and private drains.
What to do when you have a blocked drain Adelaide.
1.      Locate the problem
If the water in your bath or toilet is not draining away properly, this is likely to be the result of a blocked drain Adelaide.
2.      Do not use the blocked drain Adelaide
It may seem obvious, but don’t put any more water into the drain! This will only make the problem more severe and more difficult to resolve.
3.      Safety is a priority in dealing with a blocked drain Adelaide
Before tackling the blocked drain Adelaide, make sure you stay safe by wearing full protective clothing (this includes gloves, goggles and overalls). Always remember to remove and clean your protective clothing after you’ve finished work.
Before you begin, make sure you have a set of drain rods, which can be hired or purchased at most hardware stores. Once you have placed on your protective clothing, follow the steps below:
1.      Clear the cover
Firstly, remove the inspection cover on the drain. If the cover is rusted shut, use a screwdriver to scrape away the rust and then lift the cover off. If your drain cover has a usable handle, tie some string or wire to it, then pull the cover open.
2.      Remove the obstruction in your blocked drain Adelaide
Use a rod with a plunger attachment to remove the blockage – this may take several minutes of elbow grease by twisting and turning. Alternatively, you may want to try using a standard kitchen mop handle although this is unlikely to be as flexible as a purpose-made drain rod.
3.      Flush with water after removal
Once you’ve removed the blockage; flush the drain thoroughly with water to remove any remaining debris.
Precautions to take to avoid a blocked drain Adelaide
Here are a few tips for preventing future drain blockages:
Regularly monitor your drains
By checking your drains on a regular basis; you should be able to catch the start of any minor blockages before they get worse.
Dispose of waste in the right way
Remember to dispose of rubbish in the right manner. Never flush away items such as face wipes, nappies or cotton wool, as these are likely to block your drains on a regular basis.
Keep your drains clear of plants and roots
If possible, try to keep drains clear of roots and plants. If your garden is particularly leafy, try fitting drain guards to help prevent plant matter from falling in and causing blockages.
Rinse plates before loading your dishwasher
Always rinse your plates and cutlery before loading your dishwasher. Any excess food will end up in your drains and could build up to cause an unwanted blocked drain Adelaide.
Your responsibilities as a homeowner or renter and who to contact if you experience a problem with a public drain or sewer.
Drain Responsibility
Homeowners and renters are generally responsible for their property’s drains, up to the property boundary. Your home insurance may or may not cover you for some drainage problems.
Sewer Responsibility
Public and private sewers are the responsibility of waste and sewerage companies – not private homeowners or renters. You should immediately contact your water company if you encounter a problem.
Reporting a blocked drain Adelaide to the authorities
If a neighbour’s drain is overflowing and the water has leaked onto your home, contact your local council who’ll advise you on what action to take.
For all your plumbing work, you should consider using a professional plumbing business such as Adelaide 24 hour plumbing
If you have an issue with a blocked drain Adelaide or hot water system Adelaide, then you need a 24-hour plumber Adelaide or an emergency plumber Adelaide to service you. Plumber Adelaide- DIY Plumbing Tips
There are numerous plumbing tips that you can always employ instead of searching for the best Plumber Adelaide. In a bid to save on the little hard-earned cash that you may have for other important expenditures, not everything regarding Plumber Adelaide services should attract the attention of a professional Plumber Adelaide. As a matter of fact, you should only invite one if you feel it is necessary.
As a DIY technician for your family it is important to adhere to the following tips:
Know when it is ideal to cut as well as replace any part of your faucet
When to become aggressive with your setscrews
When to use the special tools
When you can throw in the towel
Below are some guides you can follow when doing Faucet repairs:
Plumber Adelaide – Cutting and replacing
Using a rotary device and cutting wheel, simply cut the cap side to fit what you want to achieve. You should not be very worried about the plastic seal since this is always replaceable. Also, while cutting the cap side, it is important to be very careful not to cut into the threads of the brass.
In case the cap does not freely twist, and it happens to be a metal, try heating it using a heating gun as you grip it using slip-joint pliers’ bare teeth. Should this fail, then it is advisable to try cutting the cap using a rotary device tool or cutting wheel. Follow this by jamming in a screwdriver with a flat blade and try widening the opening till the cap is unscrewed.
Plumber Adelaide – Getting aggressive with your setscrews
It is important to get an appropriate grip. This can be achieved through the use of a hex sockets as well as compound for valve grinding in order to prevent the set screws from stripping.
Should the hex tag fail to loosen, do not force it; as this can ruin the bead. Simply buy a tube of compound valve for grinding and then apply to the tip of the hex. This should then be followed by freely breaking the screws using a ratchet.
Plumber Adelaide – Replacement
When you feel that the faucet is not getting repaired appropriately, it is important to have it replaced. Once this is done, try checking the spout for leaks, if the leak persists, it is then imperative to do a complete overhaul to the inner side of the spout.
