Seda Monastery, Sêrtar, Sichuan, China: High in a treeless valley in China's remote Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture lies the the largest Tibetan Buddhist school in the world. Founded in 1980, the Seda Larung Wuming Tibetan Buddhist Institute consists of a few main buildings and tens of thousands of small dormitories built on the surrounding hillsides. Sêrtar means "golden horse" in Tibetan. It is in the southeast of the Tibetan Plateau in the historical region of Kham... Sêrtar County or Serthar County is a county in the northwest of Sichuan Province, China. Wikipedia

15 years ago, I first set foot in #China 🇨🇳❤️, embarking on an incredible journey through #Sichuan's #Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture that has captivated my heart ever since. From the vibrant streets of #Chengdu, the gateway to the west, my path led me through #Kangding, where Han and #Tibetan cultures beautifully intertwine, and onto the endless skies and nomadic life of #Tagong Grassland. I ventured to #Ganzi (Garzê), the heart of the prefecture, but it was #Danba that ultimately stole my heart. With its ancient Tibetan watchtowers, vibrant Jiarong Tibetan culture, and the stunning landscapes of #Zhonglu Village, Danba remains my favorite hidden gem, drawing me back time and time again. As I reflect on these 15 years of memories, from bustling city life to serene mountain heights, I'm filled with gratitude for the adventures I've had and excitement for the many more to come in this breathtaking region. Here's to a decade and a half of exploration in Garzê, where every visit uncovers new wonders!

My response triggered a bot so for additional context clues:
the TikTop app is banned in China, they use a nearly identical app called Douyin. The Douyin logo (TikTok logo with two Chinese characters that say Dōuyín next to it) is in the upper right hand corner. This is a copy of a Douyin post, OP reposts Douyin content to tumblr. The woman may be speaking Chinese because it’s the most common language on the app, but she could have just as easily added Mandarin translations if trying to teach a wider audience, as is common on the app.
In August-September 2020 there was unprecedented widespread protests in the Chinese Province of Inner Mongolia in response to mandated school subjects Literature, History, and Politics being required to be taught in Chinese. Many classes were empty for the start of the school year. Parents in Tongliao were pressured to sign official statements promising to send their children to school. The city of Xilinhot released a municipal notice that parents who complied would receive preferential access to state services. X
The decision is in line with the CCP’s pro-Mandarin policy, which achieved the goal of 80% of the country speaking Mandarin by 2020, a goal it officially achieved in 2022. The other most widely spoken Chinese languages are Cantonese and Hakka, both from the southeast of the country, and each the variety spoken in Hong Kong and Taiwan respectively. If you are not living under a bubble, you may be aware of the government in Beijing’s irredentist policies and aspirations.
Reflecting on the break ups of the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia, and internal unrest during the preceding decade official Chinese Communist Party line since 2012 has been “second generation” ethnic policy, that acts on the prediction the most likely place for dissent or “disunity” within the polity of China will originate from separatist forces, potentially agitated to do by foreign agents. X X
Hui masjids have been targeted for being “too Arab” for having features of Islamic architecture, including the forced removal of 14th century dome and minarets from one of the country’s largest mosques, and Buddhist statues demolished for being a symbol of Tibetan nationalism, all of this since September 2021.
You may be aware the other largest Muslim minority is being kept in re-education camps.
So I’m suspicious of “light hearted” content that demonstrate CCP-approved idea of “national unity,” where cultures and traditions are a quaint tourist oddity, like how so many of the most Instagrammable villages just so happen to be minority, Hui (Likeng Village, Wuyuan County, Jiangxi Province), Hani and Yi (Shengcun Village, Yuanyang County, Yunnan Province), Tibetan (Danba Village, Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province), and Miao (Langde Miao, Qiandongnan and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province.)
The OP reposts Douyin, it says so on his blog. Don’t brigade him for sharing from other countries, just be wary because YOU are not the intended audience.
A woman explaining how to pet a Mongolian mastiff. According to OP, this is Muyu and Mufang's first Dahan (大寒; "Great Cold"; Jan 20 - Feb 3), which is the final term of the 24 solar terms in a year according to the Chinese calendar. English added by me :)

First of all, who am I? Who was I in 2008?
First things first, I want to explain both who I am, and what kind of person I was back in 2008. As my blog introduction states my name is DeChen Tamang. I was born on the 17th June 1983 in Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.
My parents are very different, but they found love within each other. My Father is Tibetan, he has a Tibetan Father and an Indian Mother. He grew up in the Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, and has spent time in India with his Indian family too. He is very multi cultured, and embraces his cultures, along with Chinese culture, and I admire him for that.
My Mother is Han Chinese, she grew up in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. They met whilst she was travelling through the Sichuan Tibetan region. Their love story is one out of movies, breaking traditions, their bonds growing stronger each day. They both followed their hearts and married each other out of love, not tradition. (If you want to know more about, Chinese, Tibetan & Indian wedding traditions (they are different) you can research online. I will not go into a lot of detail about their lives, because I am their son and I respect their wishes to not share every single detail. I can share some things though. More so with how they are as individuals and how they raised me.
My Father came from a small village, he would ride his horse, herding the livestock, exploring for days on end. Still to this day he loves to explore the area he calls home. These days now in his jeep or on his motorbike. I am happy he is happy. He is into his tourism, and has now owned a travel center in the heart of
My Mother came from a business family, her family are involved in cultural exchange programs, research for tv shows/movies.
I grew up in a very happy household with my younger brother. We had the best upbringing a child could ask for from their parents. Sadly sometimes for many reasons, people fall out of love, I won't discuss what happened with them separating, but I will mention how that changed me a little as a person, and the circumstances that happened afterwards, creating more havoc in my own mind.
Both my parents are down to earth and humble human beings. My Father was born to the chief of his
I was extremely introverted, shy and actually quite insecure. I used to hide behind my hair. I was 25 years old, my parents had seperated and I was at a loss at this time. I grew up in Sichuan Province,
My elder cousin helped me to overcome this a bit, which I am grateful for. I will add more detail soon

Through some deep-in-the-mountain valley and low-flown river, water of which consists of melting ice from nearby glaciers, we were slowly approaching Rongzhag, a county of the eastern Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in western Sichuan Province, China. #tibet #藏区 #丹巴 #sichuan #travelchina #travelasia #snowmountain #glacier #mountains #roadtrip #hiking #adventure #四川 #roadlesstravelled #goplaces @womenwhotravel @here.mag @departuresmag @natgeotravel @travelandleisure @condenasttraveller (at Danba) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFh4KTVDxEa/?igshid=4mqchjvisc6b

Anybody have a good analysis of Water Resources and Flood Control management in China so far? Biggest disaster of course would be if any of the giants dams break and wash away.
