Expert Garage Door repair in Phoenix, Arizona
The Importance of Professional Garage Door Repair Garage doors are complex systems that require regular maintenance and occasional repairs to function correctly. Common issues include broken springs, misaligned tracks, malfunctioning openers, and worn-out rollers. Attempting to repair these problems without professional help can be dangerous and may lead to further damage. Professional repair services like those offered by Garage Door Guru provide several benefits:
Safety Garage doors are heavy and operate under high tension. Without proper training and tools, attempting to repair a garage door can result in severe injuries. Professionals have the expertise to handle these repairs safely, ensuring that the door operates correctly without posing a risk to homeowners.
Expertise Garage Door Guruâs technicians are trained to diagnose and fix a wide range of garage door issues. They can quickly identify the root cause of a problem and provide effective solutions, saving homeowners time and frustration.
Longevity Regular maintenance and timely repairs can extend the lifespan of a garage door. By addressing issues early, professional technicians prevent minor problems from escalating into major ones, ensuring the door functions smoothly for years to come.
Convenience A malfunctioning garage door can disrupt your daily routine. Professional repair services offer quick and efficient solutions, minimizing downtime and restoring your garage door to working order as soon as possible.
Common Garage Door Issues and Solutions Broken Springs Garage door springs are under immense tension and can break due to wear and tear or sudden impact. When a spring breaks, the door may become difficult to open or close. Garage Door Guruâs technicians can safely replace broken springs, ensuring the door operates smoothly and safely.
Misaligned Tracks Garage doors run on tracks that can become misaligned due to accidents or regular use. Misaligned tracks can cause the door to become stuck or operate noisily. Professional technicians can realign the tracks and secure them, allowing the door to move smoothly.
Malfunctioning Openers Garage door openers can develop issues such as faulty wiring, worn-out gears, or sensor problems. These issues can prevent the door from opening or closing properly. Garage Door Guruâs experts can diagnose and repair opener problems, ensuring the door responds correctly to commands.
Worn-Out Rollers Rollers help the garage door move along the tracks. Over time, they can wear out, leading to noisy or jerky door movement. Replacing worn-out rollers with high-quality ones can improve the doorâs operation and reduce noise.
Weather Stripping and Insulation Weather stripping and insulation play a crucial role in maintaining the energy efficiency of your garage. Damaged weather stripping can allow drafts and moisture to enter, while inadequate insulation can lead to temperature fluctuations. Garage Door Guru can replace worn-out weather stripping and improve insulation, keeping your garage comfortable and energy-efficient.

Regular Inspections Periodically inspect your garage door for signs of wear and tear. Look for rust, frayed cables, and worn-out parts. Early detection of problems can prevent more significant issues down the line.
Lubrication Lubricate the moving parts of your garage door, such as rollers, hinges, and tracks, to ensure smooth operation. Use a high-quality garage door lubricant to avoid attracting dust and debris.
Balance Check A balanced garage door operates more efficiently and reduces strain on the opener. To check the balance, disconnect the opener and manually open the door halfway. If it stays in place, itâs balanced; if it moves up or down, it may need adjustment.
Weather Stripping Inspect the weather stripping around your garage door and replace it if itâs worn or damaged. Proper weather stripping prevents drafts, moisture, and pests from entering your garage.
Test Safety Features Regularly test the safety features of your garage door opener, such as the auto-reverse mechanism. Place an object in the doorâs path and close it. If the door doesnât reverse upon contact, it may need adjustment or repair.

Intoxicated
March 16th, 2009
Today was my 21st birthday. My friend had set me up on a blind date with an actor, but didn't tell me who. She figured this would be the perfect scenario considering the hell I'd went through last Summer with a guy that was probably the biggest piece of shit on the planet. I haven't dated or been intimate with anyone since then, nor did I really have any interest in being.Â
I looked over at her, "What is this guy even like?" I asked, finishing up curling my hair.Â
She smiled, "He's tall, he's nice, he's super sexy and he's not American, if that gives you any hints."Â
I shrugged as I sat my curling iron down, starting to put my eyeliner on, "It doesn't. But I mean, is this even someone I'd be remotely interested in?" I asked her, giving her a questioning look.Â
She chuckled, "I'm positive you'll be thanking me by the end of the night."Â
I rolled my eyes, "So he's an actor?"Â
She nodded, bringing me a pair of ripped bell bottom jeans, "Yes. A very talented actor."Â
I quickly changed into the jeans, "Is he anyone I know?"Â
She walked to my living room, grabbing my keys to bring me, "Ummm... He's in that movie we watched when we were teenagers. I think it's called Swordfish or something like that."Â
I gave her a questioning look, "Did you set me up with John Travolta?"Â
She covered her mouth laughing, "You'll just have to wait and see. I'm not telling you anything!"Â
She probably set me up with one of the extras, someone I most likely wouldn't even remember ever being in the movie. She knows I hate surprises, but I appreciate her for trying, even though the last blind date she set me up on was a complete and total dud.Â
She clapped her hands at me, "Go! You were supposed to leave 5 minutes ago! He's going to meet you at RH Rooftop." She yelled.Â
I grabbed my phone, made sure I had my keys and looked at her before heading out the door to our apartment, "I swear, if this is another dud, I'm going to kill you."Â
She rolled her eyes, "I promise, it's not a dud. Just go."Â
I rolled my eyes, closing the door behind me as I made my way down the hall, towards the elevator, then to my car in the parking garage. While making the drive to the restaurant, I'll tell you a bit about myself... I'm a Southern Belle, originally from South Carolina. I moved to NYC after obtaining a degree in journalism. I didn't have many opportunities in my small town, so I decided to move to a bigger city in hopes of pursuing a career as a reporter. I've been serving as an intern for a local publishing company, which has gone well for the most part.Â
Callie and I are roommates. She also moved here for journalism, but moved here from Arizona. We met while working part-time at a coffee cafe and became roommates since the cost of living in NYC is astronomically high. She took a different career path, as a model which caused her to meet many different celebrities. She'd tried getting me into modeling with her, but it wasn't my thing. We shared a dog, Harley, who was a beautiful French Bulldog, that was treated as if he were our love child.Â
As I arrived and finally found parking for RH Rooftop, I realized I was 10 minutes late. I quickly turned my car off and sprinted towards the entrance. I don't even know who I'm looking for or how to spot this dude. I approached the hostess stand, looking nervous as I skimmed the crowd of dinners wondering who Callie had set me up with.Â
The hostess noticed me, "May I help you with something?" She asked kindly.Â
I nodded, "Ummm... I"m here with a guy, but I'm unsure of where he's sitting. He's not American and is very tall. He's also an actor." I stammered, knowing I must sound insane.Â
She giggled, "Can you tell me his name?"Â
I pursed my lips, "Not really. I'm on a blind date, so I have no idea what his name is...or who he is." I chuckled nervously, scratching the back of my neck.Â
She smiled, "Okay, I think I know who you're referring to. He told us he was expecting a blind date. Follow me." She said, grabbing a menu and leading me to the rooftop entrance.Â
I followed behind, still curious as to who this would be. I'd probably shit a brick if it were John Travolta, but I'm pretty sure he's off the market. There was that computer hacker dude that was pretty hot too. As we reached the rooftop tables, she led me to a dark haired man that had his back towards the entrance. I couldn't make out who he was just yet and considering that was an older movie, I doubt I'd recognize him from the movie from the back.Â
He stood as he heard us approach and pulled my chair out, turning to face me, "You must be my date." He said with a smile, extending his hand to shake mine, "I'm Hugh." He said casually.Â
It was the computer hacker dude, and shit, did he look good. Even 8 years later, he still looked good.Â
I smiled, shaking his hand, "I am, I'm Kaitlyn." I said as I took my seat. He gave me another smile before going back to his seat across from me.Â
"How're you doing, love?" He asks, smiling at me, keeping his elbows off the table. Hm, a real gentleman.Â
I chuckled at his flattery, already calling me a pet name. "I'm doing good, everything's going great for me at the moment. How's things going for you?"Â
He shifted, "I just wrapped up filming an origin movie for a character I've played for the last 9 years, I'm finally on a much needed break and no longer on a strict regime for my character, which I'm fully intending on breaking tonight with a milkshake."Â
I giggled, "I see." I said as the waiter approached us. He was a young man who was obviously infatuated with my date.Â
"Holy s-, I mean, I'm so sorry-" He stammered as Hugh began cracking up, "It's quite alright, mate." He said to the young man.Â
The man smiled, "Mr. Jackman, I'm sorry. Wolverine is my all-time favorite X-Men character." Hugh smiled, "Can I please get a picture with you? I swear I'll keep it professional after." He asked.
Hugh laughed, "Sure thing, mate. I'm sorry, love, but do you mind helping our waiter out with a picture?" He asked, almost embarrassingly.Â
I chuckled, "I don't mind." The waiter smiled, handing me his cell phone as Hugh got up to stand beside him, making a Wolverine pose as if he had retractable claws.Â
He pat the man on the back and sat back across from me, "Thank you so much, Mr. Jackman. And thank you for taking the picture. My name is William. What can I start you guys off with to drink?" He asked.Â
Hugh and I looked at each other, "I think I'll take a martini." I said, flipping through the bar menu. "No problem, William. I'll take a martini, and also, a chocolate milkshake. Large, William."Â
I giggled at his serious tone making sure William understood Hugh wanted a large. "Coming right up, are there any appetizers you guys want to start with?" William asked before walking off as we both shook our heads.Â
Hugh looked up at me, damn was he sexy, "So, tell me about you." He said, smirking.Â
I pursed my lips wondering what to tell, "Hmm, let's see... I have a Frenchie, his name is Harley. I'm an intern for a local business. I have a degree in journalism. I moved here from South Carolina after graduating college for a better chance of a career in journalism."Â
He nodded, taking my words in, "I've always wanted a French Bulldog. I also have a degree in journalism. I moved here from Australia many years ago, but I moved for X-Men." He said, forcing his accent deeper as he mentioned being from Australia.Â
I chuckled, "You do have a very sexy accent. I actually didn't know you weren't American because your American accent is so convincing."Â
He smirked, "I happen to think your accent is sexy too." He said flirtatiously, making me blush.
I laughed, "I literally sound like cornbread, stop."Â
He laughed, "You do not. Even if you did, cornbread tastes good."Â
Our waiter returned with our drinks and Hugh's large milkshake, and proceeded to take our order. I reached for the menus, but Hugh swiped them from me, handing them to our server.Â
He winked at me, "Gotta be quicker than that, beautiful."Â
I playfully rolled my eyes, "Tell me more about you." I said, resting my chin on my hands, giving him my undivided attention.Â
He smiled, "What do you wanna know?" He asked flirtatiously.Â
I shrugged, "Everything."Â
He chuckled, "For starters, I have two children, Ava and Oscar. They are 4 and 9. I play cricket. I enjoy singing. Every year, I go back to Australia and do the polar plunge. I'm recently divorced. Anything else you want to know?"Â
I smirked, "Have you been with anyone since the divorce?"Â
He looked at, surprised at my question, but smiled, "No, no I haven't. I haven't been with anyone besides her since 1995."Â
I bit my lip, raising my brow with a giggle, "So you're not a douche bag then, noted."
He smiled sweetly, "No, I'm not a douche bag." He said softly.Â
I shifted in my seat, taking a sip from my martini, "What are you hoping to come from this?"Â Â
He shrugged, "I really don't know, love. I have no expectations, whatever happens, happens. What about you?" He asks, his eyes burning through me, almost with a lust.Â
I smirked, "I kind of go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens."Â
He bit his lip, "I like that."Â
As the night went on, we ate our food and drank a few martinis. Both of us, feeling a little tipsy and beginning to ask risque questions as he moved his chair to my side of the table, now beside me.Â
"So tell me, what are some of your turn-ons?" I asked with a smirk, sipping my 3rd martini.
His one hand moved to my thigh under the table, "Does it count if I say you?" He smirked, looking me in the eyes.Â
I bit my lip, "Do you want to um...get out of here?" I asked him quietly.Â
He grabbed my hand, "C'mon, love." and began leading me towards the entrance of the rooftop bar to head back downstairs and to the sidewalk. "Let's go to my car." He said, leading me to an SUV.
As we got to the car, he rushed towards the backseat, opening the door, motioning for me to climb in. I climbed in, sliding to the other end as he quickly slid in beside me, shutting the door and pulling me onto his lap, slamming his lips against mine as he roughly gripped my hips. I felt him begin pushing his hips upwards, grinding into me as I reached behind us, positioning myself upwards, tugging at his belt.Â
"Take this off..." I muttered against his lips as he bit my bottom lip, I pulled away and slid my top off as he helped me, tossing it into the seat beside us, leaving me in my bra and jeans. I slid off of him to remove my jeans and underwear as he undid his belt and jeans, his hard dick exposed.Â
"Come here." He said, almost demanding, as he grabbed my arm, bringing my lips back to his as I straddled his lap, wrapping my arms around his neck as I lowered myself down onto him, taking every inch.Â
He moaned against my lips, "Fuck, you're tight." He said lowly as he sucked on my bottom lip, nibbling at it.Â
I began bouncing up and down, roughly, my moans filling the car. I felt him reach up and grab my breasts, that were covered by my bra, squeezing them. "Shit, your cock feels so good inside me." I cried out.Â
He pushed my bra down, exposing my breasts as he popped one of my nipples into my mouth, nibbling at it and sucking as he started thrusting his hips up to meet mine. "Oh fuck!" I yelled as he moved his hands to my hips and started thrusting hard into me.Â
"We gotta be quick, we're in a parking lot." He chuckled as he began moaning again.Â
I could feel my orgasm coming, I grabbed his chin, forcing his face back to mine, crashing my lips onto his. "Cum for me, baby." He said huskily, moving his lips down to my neck, sucking and biting softly.Â
I felt my eyes practically roll back into my head as I let myself go, my juices flowing down his throbbing cock as he spilled his load inside me.Â
"Second date?" He asked, out of breath, laughing.Â
I nodded, catching my breath, "Definitely."Â Â

When you reach Javyâs apartment, he pulls into a spot right next to the sports car that you recognize from your first date. When he gets out, he doesnât head for the door to the lobby, instead leading the way around the sports car to another vehicle. You frown in confusion as you look at what seems to be a game of âone of these things is not like the others.â The Prius parked on the other side of Javyâs sportscar looks old, almost as old as your car, but itâs definitely been a while since itâs seen any action. Itâs clean as a whistle despite its age and looks ridiculous surrounded by Javyâs two other cars and the other various luxury vehicles that populate this garage. âHere she is,â Javy announces proudly as he runs an affectionate hand over the roof of the car.
âYouâre kiddingâŠâ you canât help yourself. âThis is your car?â You ask, arching a skeptical eyebrow as you approach the car.
He chuckles, âShe is indeed, though itâs been quite a while since sheâs seen any real use. I drive her around every now and then to make sure she still runs, but as you can see, sheâs had her day.â
âSo why do you keep it?â You ask and he smiles ruefully.
âI could tell you itâs a reminder to never forget where I came from, but honestly? I canât bear to give her up. My uncle got it for me when I moved to Arizona for college. My mom kept insisting that I wouldnât need a car and that it was an unnecessary expense, but he wouldnât listen. He told me heâd been saving money for years for it, and it was the last thing he ever gave me. He wanted to make sure that Iâd have everything I needed to chase my dreams and never look back.â You surprise yourself when you reach out for his hand and slide your fingers into his. He gives you a soft smile in response. âIâll grab you the keys and sheâs all yours.â Your breath catches in your chest as you remember why youâre here in the first place and you shake your head.
âJavy I canât, it clearly means a lot to you, I couldnât drive her.â He chuckles and squeezes your hand gently.
âYes, you can. I hate seeing her just sit here and not get used. Iâd be honored to have you take care of her.â You purse your lips in a thin line as you consider Javyâs offer. âIâm not going to force you to take her, but then weâre getting back and the car and going to a dealership. As much as Iâd love to drive you everywhere, unfortunately, my schedule doesnât really allow for that.â Your cheeks heat at his words.
âJavyâŠâ you whisper and he smiles.
âI mean it, Meep, I want you to have her. I know youâll take good care of her. And Iâll add you to the insurance so you donât have to worry about that.â You feel the emotions of the day catching up with you and tears well up in your eyes.
âThank you, Javy. I mean it, thank you so much.â You hate the way your voice sounds like youâre blubbering but Javy just chuckles and pulls you into a hug.
âYouâre welcome, Beautiful. Thatâs what friends are for.â
***
Youâve severely underestimated what it means to be friends with Javy Machado. Your phone buzzes for the seemingly thousandth time and Nat gives you a knowing look from where sheâs sitting on a couch in the fitting room. âStarting to regret getting back with him yet?â She asks as you come over and open the message and you roll your eyes at the picture of Javy force-feeding Bradley a slice of pizza along with a message asking how things are going with you. Things are going well. You and Nat are finally going for the shopping date that Javy promised you. Zam wanted to come but sheâs been particularly swamped this week. Youâre extremely grateful to Nat for coming along and so far sheâs been nothing but supportive as you pick out some new dresses. She doesnât push you out of your comfort zone and has even managed to pull a few suggestions that suit your taste perfectly. The dresses are modest yet classy and you smile at your reflection in the full-length mirror as you consider how to reply to Javyâs text after sharing the image with Nat.
âYou should send him a picture of that dress,â Nat suggests and you look from the mirror to her and she gives you a knowing smile. The dress is a simple yet elegant style that falls to your mid-calf made of gorgeous emerald velvet. The modest neckline and love sleeves make you feel comfortable and even pretty. You love the way the dressing room light reflects off the fabric as you swish the skirt idly. You glance back at the mirror and when you turn back to Nat sheâs holding up your phone.
âNat!â You exclaim as you realize sheâs taking a photo. She grabs your wrist and drags you over to sit next to her on the couch as she sends the photos to Javy. Youâd had a mind to complain about the lack of warning but when you see the photos, youâre grateful to Nat. The candid shots mean that youâre relaxed and natural-looking. The two of you watch as little hearts appear on each of the photos before Javy replies. Youâre expecting all kinds of possible responses, but the message you get back in response is simple.
âBuy it.â Nat cackles as she hugs you and you feel your cheeks flush. Then your phone rings and Nat gives you a knowing look before she stands up and collects the dresses youâd placed in the no pile and walks out of the fitting room to give you some privacy as you answer the call. âHey Beautiful,â Javy greets and you feel your cheeks heat.
âHi Javy,â You whisper as you fiddle with the slippery fabric.
âI absolutely love that dress, Meep. It suits you perfectly.â You murmur your thanks, embarrassed at his straightforward compliments. âDo you like it?â He asks after a beat and you start, surprised that heâd ask that. Your eyes go again to the mirror and you feel the corners of your lips raise slowly.
âI do, I really do.â You admit and you can practically hear Javyâs smile.
âPerfect. Then make sure you get it. I think I have the perfect occasion for you to wear it to this weekend.â
âWhat kind of occasion?â You ask, eyebrows pinching together in worry. You and Javy havenât gone on any dates since reinstating your fake relationship. Youâd be attending the Dogfightersâ game tonight but other than that, Javy hasnât mentioned any other plans.
âItâs a surprise, but I promise youâll like it so donât worry your pretty little head about it. Just show up looking beautiful as always.â You pout slightly at Javyâs insistence on giving you as little information as possible but the nagging voice in the back of your mind begs to you trust him. Javy wouldnât pick something that would make you uncomfortable. Heâs literally paying for todayâs shopping trip to ensure that you donât.
âOkay,â you acquiesce and you can hear the grin in his voice.
âGreat, Iâve got to run, but Iâll see you tonight, okay?â You confirm that youâll be at the game tonight before you hang up. Nat comes back in not long after that with a few more options and the two of you get to work.
***
âItâs really that simple?â You ask as you adjust the sleeves of the jersey that are currently falling past your hands. Josie nods as she looks you over.
âI mean you could do more, but itâs honestly more comfy to go simple.â Thatâs rich coming from her you think as you gape at the pointed heels of the knee-high boots she's wearing over her jeans. Sheâs dressed in a replica of Reubenâs jersey, opting for the menâs fit rather than the womenâs style that would definitely hug her curves a lot better. In comparison, youâve opted for your simple white sneakers along with jeans and Javyâs jersey. Youâve also opted for the menâs fit after Josie pointed out that though they wonât mention it, the boys much prefer their girls in the baggier menâs jerseys as opposed to the more fitted female styles. âIt looks like youâre wearing their jerseys.â Josie had explained as you tried on the jersey for the first time. âAnd their dirty little minds love that.â You canât help the way your cheeks heat as you examine your simple appearance in the mirror. Hopefully, Josieâs right, and Javy will appreciate it. âDonât worry about the long sleeves,â she adds as she puts the finishing touches on her makeup. âThe rink can sometimes feel a bit chilly and youâll appreciate them.â You tug the ends of your sleeves over your hands experimentally and find that Josieâs probably going to be right.
When you reach the arena, things are already in full swing. You help Josie wrangle the kids and you make your way to the same set of seats youâd sat at last time. Traffic getting to the arena was slow-moving and warmups have already begun. As you help Josie get things situated the kids run up to the glass, eager to see their dad and you follow, scooping Skylar up into your arms so she can see the rink while Jamie slaps the glass to try and attract his fatherâs attention. You notice Mickey waving across the rink at the kids before he gets Reubenâs attention. Reuben skates over and waves to the kids who eagerly wave back. He carefully tosses a puck over the glass and Jamie catches it, cheering for his dad as you smile softly. You let Skylar down so she can bicker with Jamie over the puck and watch the warmups themselves, trying to remember what Nat taught you.
Youâre so absorbed in your own thoughts that a bump on the glass makes you jump. You blink in surprise as you see Javy grinning at you from the other side of the glass. Your cheeks heat as he lays a gloved palm against the glass and you tentatively put your up to it. Javyâs grin widens as he thumps the glass three times and you follow his lead before he skates away, blowing you a kiss, and your heart stutters before you remember that youâre in public. Heâs supposed to be your boyfriend, of course, heâs being romantic.
You return to your seats and do your best to focus on the game. Natâs lessons pay off and youâre able to follow the game better than last time. The boys are playing hard but the other team is keeping up. By the third period, youâre flinching less at the hits and grabbing Josie as the two of you watch the tied game with bated breath. Unfortunately, the other team finally pulls ahead with five minutes to go and you and Josie collapse back against your seat with exasperated groans. Next to you, Skylar is asleep on her brother whoâs struggling to stay awake, but even the infectious energy of the crowd is enough to keep the exhausted kids from feeling the effects of the busy week. Your teeth have worried your bottom lip into a mess over the last two and a half periods and youâre hoping the Dogfighters can take it to overtime even if you can feel exhaustion pulling at your bones.
The timer drops lower and lower and while the Dogfighters are giving it their all, the other team isn't giving up any ground. Bob is working double time to stop shots and keep the score difference from widening but thatâs left the two teams at a stalemate, struggling against the other as the clock runs out. Finally, the ref blows the whistle and you and Josie let out a collective groan. The win was hard fought, but you canât help but wish the Dogfighters had been able to take it back. You help Josie carry the things youâd brought, leading a drowsy Jamie by the hand while Josie hoists a sleeping Skylar into her arms. You make your way to the private part of the arena, reserved for players and staff to wait for Reuben. A yawn escapes your mouth and Josie gives you a tired smile of her own. The two of you give up on standing after a few moments where youâre sure Jamie almost falls asleep standing up and all pile onto a bench in the hallway, leaning against each other and fighting sleep. You must doze off regardless because youâre roused by the sound of Reubenâs voice as he coaxes Josie awake next to you, a fond smile on his face. Heâs wearing his arrival suit and he comes around to crouch in front of a sleeping Jamie and you help him wrap Jamieâs small arms around his neck and Reuben lifts his son into his arms. You stretch, your arm having fallen asleep with Jamie sleeping on it. Josie stands with a groan, still carrying Skylar, and follows Reuben down the hallway toward the parking lot after exchanging sleepy goodbyes with you. You readjust yourself with a yawn, letting your shoulders sink with exhaustion, fighting the urge to full-on lay down on the bench. Javyâs offered to drive you home in exchange for you coming to the game since it would be late and the Fitches would have to get the kids home. If Reubenâs done, Javy shouldnât be far behind.
***
You stir, your cheek bumping into something solid and you wrinkle your nose, squirming as you try and get comfortable again. You canât have shut your eyes for longer than a moment. You blink, trying to reorient yourself and youâre staring sideways at a pair of knees. You frown, brows furrowing as you roll over onto your back and find yourself staring at the ceiling. Well, the ceiling and Javyâs face as he peers down at you. âHey Meep,â you watch a smile creep across his face as yours twists into a confused frown, âsleep well?â You sit up slowly, rubbing the sleep from your eyes as you frown at Javy whoâs looking down at you endearingly, mirth dancing in his eyes.
âWasnât asleep, just resting my eyes,â you murmur sleepily and youâre too tired to glare when he chuckles. With great effort you manage to sit up, groaning as your heavy head protests. When you look up again, Javyâs back is facing you and your brows twist in confusion until his head turns to you and he jerks his chin awkwardly.
âGet on,â your brain is suddenly more awake. Your frown deepens and you shake your head as you slowly wrap your mind around what Javyâs proposing, your mind going back to Reuben and Jamie. âMeep get on, youâre exhausted so letâs not fight tonight and get you home. Your frown deepens even more at the idea that Javyâs right and so you wrap your arms around his neck, a sleepy pout on your face and youâre just awake enough to remind yourself not to bury your face in his neck to hide from the harsh hallway lights as you try to hold onto the threads of sleep and relax against Javyâs back as he carries you.
***
Javy canât help the way his mouth quirks into a smile as the low rumble of snoring tickles his ear. Your arms around his neck are starting to go concerning slack, but heâs almost at the car. He tightens his grip on your thighs and freezes as your face nuzzles into his neck and he doesnât miss the way his heart lurches in his chest. He knows youâre asleep. Youâre doing all this involuntarily. You donât mean to. And yet his heart is officially pounding out of his chest. He leans forward so you donât slip with your grip loosening as he reaches the Range Rover. He thanks the keyless entry as the car chirps and unlocks without having to dig into his pocket for his keys. He comes around your side of the car and briefly considers laying you out in the back so that you can sleep more comfortably. He decides against it, worried that youâll wake disoriented and scared somewhere he canât instantly assure you that youâre safe. Well, that, and he doesnât want to look like heâs kidnapping you. He fumbles to open your door before he does his best to ease you carefully into the passenger seat. He frowns as he carefully buckles your seatbelt. Youâll wake with a sore neck if you lean against the door while youâre sleeping so he finds a middle ground, carefully easily the seat back slightly so your body can curl slightly into the seat rather than need to lean against the door.
When heâs satisfied, he goes back around to the other side of the car, sliding into the driverâs seat and turning on the car before he looks back at you and slides his suit jacket off, draping it over your dozing form. At least this way he doesnât have to focus on how good you look in his jersey. Itâs not something new, per se, having a girl wear his jersey. Heâs hooked up with plenty of girls with the 68 emblazoned on their backs, doing his best to ignore the brand-new smell of the fabric that sometimes even still has the tags on it. If he makes an effort to accidentally get a stain or two on those, rendering them unreturnable, itâs just an unfortunate byproduct of hooking up. Heâs only had a girl or two blatantly complain about it, having the balls to admit they were planning on returning or selling the piece of clothing. One girl a few years ago had actually applauded him for âincreasing the sale valueâ of the jersey and heâs been skeptical of girls in his jersey ever since. Being a hockey player already feels like a commodity where girls are considered, and the idea of them selling his semen, and worse, paying to buy it, gives him the ick.
Thereâs something different to be said, however, of you in his jersey. Sure heâs heard enough from Jake about how much he loves seeing Bugs wear his name and number, and heâs not blind to the way Bradleyâs eyes canât seem to tear away from Zam on the odd occasion that she dons his jersey. Josie shows up to every game repping her husband in some way or another, but heâd never considered what it would be like to have that himself. Then, tonight, seeing you and Josie watching you and Josie gripping each other excitedly in the stands, heâd found himself thinking about how good you look in the Dogfightersâ colors. He hadnât even considered that the jersey you were wearing was his until he happened to look over during warmups while you were standing, your back to the rink as you helped Josie finagle something in a bag and heâd caught sight of his name staring back at him where itâs emblazoned across your back. He almost dropped his stick, accidentally shaking into Bradley whoâd glared at him until he followed Javyâs gaze and smirked at him instead, skating away without another word.
Heâs not sure when he decided he liked the idea of you being his but now heâs sitting here in his car with you asleep next to him when a month ago youâd never have considered letting your guard around him enough to relax let alone fall asleep. His heart is still hammering in his chest and his cheeks warm at the memory of your nose brushing his neck. Every part of his head is screaming in panic, the way it had that day after meeting your class for the first time. Every instinct thatâs been burned into him over the year screams at him to run for the hills and burn every bridge on the way out, but he grips the steering wheel tight, pushing the voices away as his breathing comes out ragged.
He jerks the car to a harder stop than heâs like at a red light and takes a shaky breath as he looks over at you. The moonlight reflects the calm stillness of your face, brows smooth and at peace as you doze and he feels his grip loosen. Youâre so brave, he thinks. Heâs done nothing but push you out of your comfort zone and yet youâve squared your shoulders and taken it in stride. Sure sometimes youâve forged ahead with shaking hands and teary eyes, but you havenât faltered once. Youâre the bravest person he knows. He once thought that being brave meant being fearless but as he chances another look at you as he pulls into your parking lot he thinks maybe that being brave is being afraid and doing your best anyway.
He watches as you shift your smooth brow furrows in sleepy confusion and your nose scrunches in a way that goes straight to his heart as your eyes blink open, taking in your surroundings. You shift to sit up, peering out the window and Javy tries and fails to keep his eyes from shifting to the back of your jersey. âI fell asleep.â Your voice is rough with sleep as you rub at your eyes but he catches the irritation in your tone.
âAnd now youâre home, so you can get upstairs and back to sleep,â he points out and you turn, regarding him like youâve forgotten that heâs in the car too. You nod, frowning as you try to make sense of his words. âCome on, Meep, letâs get you to bed.â You nod again, turning to let yourself out of the car. When he gets to the other side of the car youâre fumbling with your purse to find your keys. When he offers you his hand you wave him off, shuffling sleepily towards the stairs up to your apartment and he trails along behind you, making sure you donât just collapse somewhere halfway up and spend the night there. When you reach your door, he watches as you fumble with your keys for a solid thirty seconds before he takes the keys from your hand. You donât argue but he can feel your glare on his temple as he unlocks the door. Your hand grips the knob, taking your keys from him with the other.
âGoodnight, Javy.â He smiles at the sleepy slur in your voice as he steps back and you give him a nod.
âGoodnight, Meep, sleep tight.â You wave half-heartedly as he chuckles softly and you duck past him into the apartment, surprisingly quick as you swing the door shut behind you, and he waits for the turns of the lock and deadbolt before he turns and heads back to his car, trying not to think about how badly he wants you to come back and invite him in.
A/N: Where do you think Javy and Roadie are going this weekend?

Rootin' Tootin' Real Estate. This 2002 mansion in Milton, Georgia has a wing that's a replica of the wild west town Tombstone, Arizona circa 1800s. (What a great place for a laser tag shootout.) 4bds, 8ba, $8.950M.
Mosey on down the center of town and head into your own saloon.
So, here's the saloon.
This looks like the entrance to the brothel.
There are 2 guest powder rooms down here.
Not sure if there are actual 2nd floors in these buildings.
And, here's the old bath house. There are 15,000 sq. ft. of unfinished space in the basement, so you could expand this, if you want, or make something else.
The house is pretty grand. The sitting room has a curved wall of windows and a huge fireplace.
The kitchen is very big and has a large island, plus a curved counter that seats 6, as well as a separate dining area.
This a family room off the kitchen with a beautiful stone wall and fireplace.
And, there's a library, too.
As with all mansions there are sitting rooms all over the house and this one has a bar w/9 stools. There are so many glass walls and double doors in this house.
Beautiful hallway.
The primary bedroom has a full size sitting area and double doors to a patio.
Very large, open en-suite.
Home gym.
Sauna.
Steam room.
And, closet.
The secondary bedrooms are all generously sized, have en-suites and walk-in closets.
Home theater.
This looks like an art studio.
And, the garage has room for 25 cars.
Look at how vast the unfinished basement area is.
There is no pool, but the property is 8.97 acres, so there's plenty room for one.

Ever since Jasper and I left my house in a hurry, I felt like Iâve been stuck in a haze. Like none of this is real. And even though I snapped at him on the ride over, heâs respected my decision and kept me either within armâs reach or a hand touching me in some form. Itâs the only thing keeping me here in the moment while controlled chaos continues to explode in his familyâs garage.
I feel deft fingers unzipping my, or rather Jasperïżœïżœs, jacket and sliding it from my shoulders. I grab at the hands to stop them, but itâs Jasper himself.
âI need to give it to Esme, for her to lure him with your scent. I also need your hat, sweetheart.â He explains gently.
I release his hands and nod, allowing him to take the articles from me. I shiver without his jacket to keep me warm and he immediately replaces it with a different hoodie, this time slipping it over my head.
âAnother one of mine that I donât mind letting you borrow.â He winks at me and it draws out a smile from me. I feel at home cocooned in his scent.
On the other side of Carlisleâs car I hear Edward arguing with Rose about carrying Bellaâs scent. Emmett squeezes past us to throw some supplies in the backseat of his Jeep and turns to me.
âBe safe, Y/n/n?â I nod and he turns to his brother, âTake care of her and watch your back, alright tough guy?â
âLikewise, big guy.â Jasper replies, pulling him in for a quick hug with a smile before parting and opening the passenger door for me. Bella and Alice already waiting in the rear as I climb in and buckle up.

The entire trip south was a blur, what I assume normally is a two to three day trip, took us one day with minimal time for bathroom breaks and gas stops. Me being the designated one to refuel the car during the day since our protectors couldnât exit the vehicle and Bella spent the majority of the ride in and out of sleep. I was grateful for the temporary duty, it felt like I was actually being helpful instead of sitting and waiting for something to happen, which I know might very well be my fate once we make it to Phoenix.
âAll done, darlinâ?â I shake myself from my day-dream, Jasper had cracked his driverâs side window and I meet his eyes in the side-view mirror.
âOh shit-sorry.â I quickly put away the pump and screw the gas cap back on before hurrying back to the passenger side.
âYou alright?â He asks quietly, giving me a sidelong glance as he directs the car back to the interstate.
âMhmm.â I answer him, looking out of the window at the passing cars.
I feel a small hand slide onto my shoulder and give it a squeeze before it retreats to the back seat, Alice. Iâm not really sure how to feel at this point, I mean - I am happy that Jasper is with me, lord knows Iâd be a nervous mess worrying about him. But I canât help it thinking of the others, Esme wearing my scent and Rose wearing Bellaâs. Edward is the fastest and with his ability to read minds, heâs formidable. Carlisle is an extremely smart man and I know Emmett is strong for a normal vampire, but is he stronger than vampires that drink human blood? I shiver, human blood. The vampires after Bella and I want our blood. Just as Iâm about to spiral down a path of panic for fear of not being able to protect myself, a large hand slides over my left thigh.
Raising his eyebrows in concern, Jasper gently smooths his gift over my panic to calm me down and combined with the distraction of his hand, it works. I donât know what I would do without him, itâs like fate knew I couldnât digest his world without his ability to control emotions. So I give him a sad smile and slide my hand on top of his, with him I can do this - we could do this.
âą March 15th, 2005 âą Hotel - Phoenix, Arizona âą
Jasper
Alice and I picked a hotel for the four of us close to the international airport in Phoenix so that we might have an additional means of escape. That also puts us in the middle of a metropolitan area. Nowhere near a forest.
Nowhere near our food source.
And Iâm confined to a room for who knows how long with my singer after having spent 24 hours with her in a car.
Yet another test of my precarious control.
Thankfully I fed myself before the baseball game and under normal circumstances I could go a little over a week until I needed another meal⊠but I exerted myself trying to mask the energy signatures surrounding the women in our group to the nomads to make them uninteresting. And staying in this room watching over the girls doesnât help either.
âYou wonât hurt them.â Alice tells me from her watchful position at the window, early morning light peaking in the crack in the curtains held open by her slender hand.
âDoesnât make it any easier.â Taking calming breaths is a human technique, one that would increase the inferno in my throat. Meditation is all that can offer a modicum of peace, a skill I wish came easily.
I can feel her eyes assess me, even though my own are closed in concentration. âI can get us an adjoining room-â
I cut her off and crack an eye open, âAnd be further away? Absolutely not, Iâd much rather suffer through hunger than adding a barrier from protecting you three for my comfort.â
âIâm not incapable of defending myself or the girls.â Her sharp tone makes me wince, so I give her my attention fully.
âI meant no disrespect⊠I know you are fully capable, but she is mine, Alice.â Surprise colors her emotions.
âShe is your singer?â My sister questions in a gasp.
âYou didnât see that coming?â I joke with her, leaning back on the couch to stare at the ceiling.
She smacks my shoulder, âYou know Iâve been preoccupied with Edwardâs predicament with Isabella. The guy is as paranoid as they come!â
âI only figured it out Saturday, so itâs not like Iâve been sitting on the news for very long.â A sigh deflates my chest, âI havenât told her.â
âYouâll find the right time when this is all over.â Her smile would be reassuring if I didnât have the ability to sense the uncertainty in her emotions.
Reader
I spent all day yesterday sleeping while occasionally texting my mom to check in. I passed off another lie that we were just waiting on her mom to get here from Florida and that Iâd be staying with Bella for a few days until then. I hope the others catch the nomads soon, I hate lying to my mom and Iâm running out of material thatâs legitimate enough to keep her placated.
The worry drags me from my shared bed with my friend, Alice got us a suite but with only one bed so our locations wouldnât be spread thin. Fine by me, I wouldnât be able to stand a room to myself just waiting.
Exiting the bedroom into the sitting room, I spot only Jasper with no Alice in sight.
âSheâs acquiring food for you two, the lobby has free breakfast and the sun has barely risen.â He explains, lowering the newspaper in his hands.
I sit sideways on the couch facing him with my legs tucked in close, far enough away that Iâm not touching him. Our confined situation mustnât be easy on him and I donât want to add to the difficulty, but Iâm like a moth to his flame.
âDid you get enough sleep? I heard you tossing and turning.â A strong hand reaches up to gently run along the indentions my pillow made on my cheek, not the most attractive thing to wake up with in the morning.
âIâm fine, just restless and worried.â I caress the hand on my cheek and lean into it.
His brows furrow slightly, âYouâre safe here with Alice and I-â
âNo-no, Iâm worried about Esme, Rose, your whole family, momâŠâ I glanced down at my lap and pick at the seam of my shirt, well actually Jasperâs shirt-I did a pretty shit job of packing and he let me borrow one of his to sleep in - Iâm trying to not think about that too hard.
âMy family can handle themselves, weâve survived this long for a reason.â Jasper reassures me calmly.
âYes, but protecting Bella and I has pulled you and Alice away from them-â
âAnd theyâll be alright. Besides, I have what they want and weâre across the country.â
âIf they get angry and-and hurt one of themâŠâ I canât finish my sentence, anything happening to any one of them for my sake is too much to consider.
Jasper pulls me in for a hug, turning me so that Iâm sitting in his lap with my face pressed to his neck and his hands rubbing my back soothingly. âSweetheart, thereâs more of us than them and we have more gifts, the odds are stacked in our favor. Especially with Alice-â
Just then the aforementioned vampire sweeps gracefully into our hotel room with a stack of to-go containers. âMy ears were burning, do continue.â She teases us with a sweet smile as she sets the food before us on the coffee table.
âJasper was just telling me thereâs no point in worrying when we have a badass like you on our team.â I wink at her before opening a container with a waffle and bacon, cooked exactly like I prefer.
âYou seemed like a soft bacon kinda girl,â I chuckle at her, amazed at her predictive skills. âIâll go wake Bella.â
As she dances through the bedroom door, I slide out of Jasperâs lap and to the floor next to him, leaning against the couch I dig into my food. âIt really is a shame you canât eat, Iâd miss bacon entirely too much if I were a vampire.â
âSomething youâll never have to find out, darlinâ.â He chuckles as he goes back to reading the paper, but his words donât quite sit right in my stomach.
Never have to find out? I suppose I hadnât really thought of that. One day Iâll be old and wrinkly, meanwhile he will always be this, always be young. My appetite begins to shrink at the thought. Fuck - one day he wonât want me, Iâll be old and-
The newspaper rustles, âWhat-â
But Alice and Bella walk through the door and cut him off before he could ask what was bothering me.
I donât even know what Iâd say.
That I donât like the idea that weâre on opposite ends of the mortality spectrum? That I wonât have forever with him? That I might be falling in love with him and Iâll just have to get over it at some point and let him go?
Wait-falling in love with Jasper Hale?
Shit.

A Gentle End
The last chapter of this was posted almost a year ago, and it's been a few months since I've posted. The truth is, life has been rough and I got a round of feedback that totally ruined my confidence so I'm taking a while to get back on the horse.
The final part of the Give Me Shelter
Contains: Angst, violence, answered questions.
1.9 K words
What is better than happy ever after?
Things had taken a turn for the better since that fateful day at the garage. The space that sometimes seemed to fill the house when he was home from a rough day was gone, replaced by the quiet of acceptance and understanding.
Right on cue, the door swung open, and Happy greeted the dogs before throwing off his shoes and walking over to you for a kiss. "How was you run dear?"
He smiled. "Good," there was a pause and he broke your gaze. "I didn't get any more info on who sent that text, it's starting to feel like we're never going to find out."
You sighed. "We've talked about this, I don't care who sent it."
You had been going back and forth for weeks over it, Happy was convinced that finding out who was behind the mess would fix everything, but you knew that once he opened that can of worms, there was no way to close it. Jax was acting like nothing happened, but given Tig's apology for leaving his phone unattended, you knew something was happening behind the scenes.
Happy flopped down on the couch, clearly ready to debate the matter again. "Well I do. I can't have someone fucking with my old lady, it just ain't right."
You knew you had to let it go, had you really asked, Happy would have dropped it, but the others wouldn't and for all his dysfunction, Jax still had some morals. "Fine, but I'm not going to be upset if you never get to the truth. I want to move on with life."
You sat next to him and leaned your head on his shoulder, and Happy reached up to stroke your cheek. You knew that now that the guns the drugs were done, things were going to calm down but the months between knowing the truth and the present had been rough and you were both tired.
"It's going to be alright little girl, I promise."
****
You awoke to knocking on the door, the dogs barking and Happy's arm slung over your naked back, you gave him a push and he groaned before rolling onto his back and rubbing his face. "That better not be one of the guys."
Happy, ever the quiet one, rubbed your leg lovingly then got up and headed towards the door. "Can you put some pants on please?"
He grinned and slid on a pair of black sweats before heading to the front door. You debated getting up to greet the interrupter but Happy made the choice for you when he called through the house that it was Juice. You threw on a robe and met them in the hallway. "You want some breakfast?"
Juice nodded with a smile. "Yes please, you got turkey bacon?" Of course you did, Juice was there enough that you always had some in the fridge.
He made himself at home as you got the food together and Happy went outside for a smoke. By the look on his face, you knew he wasn't there to deliver good news, Jax probably sent him because he knew you and Happy would take bad news better coming from his mouth.
Happy came back in and pecked your cheek before sitting next to Juice at the counter. "What are you doing here Juicy?"
Juice sighed and rubbed his face. "I know Jax promised you the weekend but Arizona will be here by six." Jax was right, there was no way you could say anything to Juice's puppy dog eyes and guilty face.
You sighed. "I'm sure Gemma will want help setting up the party. We'll have breakfast then we'll head off." You were really hoping to have a quiet day with Happy, maybe go to the park and get the dogs some pupcreams from the ice cream truck, but it seemed the ever problematic Arizona had other ideas.
"You sure you're alright with this little girl? That was a new thing too, Happy had been turning down the club a lot and more and more, and you believed that if you asked, he'd leave in a heartbeat.
You nodded. "Yeah, I gotta get out of the house anyway, this all the work at the shelter I haven't had much time to socialise." You sighed. "Breakfast first, then we'll whine about our lost lazy weekend."
****
The party was in full swing now and the conservation was easy as you sat in Happy's lap with a beer in hand. Arizona was milling around but things were strangely calm, until the biggest asshole of Arizona decided to approach the group. Nothing worked on him, the first time he had a go at you was after you brought the piglet to T-M and Happy beating the shit out of him changed nothing, nor did Juice punching him in the mouth after the next comment, when he said something horrible about the little tripod puppy that you had brought with you one day.
"I guess you're still hanging around." He was as smug as ever and a quick look at his chest showed why, despite everything, he was now the road captain.
You gave him a nasty smile and shot back your reply. "Yep, like a bad fucking smell, can I help you?"
Happy was tense at your back but he knew to let you handle it until it really crossed the line. "Nah, I was just curious about where your latest pathetic thing was. Did you get sick of playing Mother Teresa?"
There was no point in arguing, he was just being an asshole so you turned back to Jax and picked up where you left off. He didn't seem to like that because he spoke even louder, enough that everyone close could hear. "You really are bent on staying around, aren't you? I thought after you saw all that shit at the garage, you'd be out of here, maybe I should have given you more credit."
The statement struck you as odd because you didn't remember seeing him there that day, in fact, only one Arizona man was, the other had left ten minutes before to follow up on a lead. When you said as much, he tried to backtrack but the lie that someone told him fell flat, there was no way anyone would mention a witness.
You stood up, leaving room for Happy to jump in. "Did you take Tig's phone and send that text? Don't bother lying, it's pretty obvious that you did."
He crossed his arms over his chest and chuckled coldly. "Yeah I did, but hey, you're still around, so maybe I was wrong about you."
The room had gone silent and there was a chill in the air that could have frozen hell. "Are you saying you put the club at risk of capital charges because you wanted me to break up with my boyfriend?"
It seemed the oh shit moment came hard and fast because his eyes went wide before he collected himself and tried to recover. "I knew you wouldn't tell anyone, I just wanted Hap to know what you were really made of."
Happy was shaking with rage behind you but given the looks on the member's faces, this was more than just a matter between brothers now. Jax stood up, his face hard as stone and looked at you. "Go home y/n, please." You thought about refusing but Jax was mixing a thinly veiled demand with manners, you knew it was serious.
You pecked Happy's cheek and his only reaction was the slight turn of his head towards your lips before his eyes were back glaring daggers at the man. Jax shot a look at the prospect then back at you. "Call Rat if you need anything. I'll have your old man home before bedtime, don't worry." He turned to the group. "Church now."Â
You gave him a slight smile and walked towards the door, placing your hand on Happy's shoulder as you went. "I love you."
You didn't even meet your eye. "You too."
****
The door swung open but when you looked up, it was Chibs with his hand on the nob. Happy walked through and smiled at you and when you got a look at his hands, it was clear why you heard a car and not a bike pull into the driveway. "Can you fix him up Lass?"
Happy's hands were swollen and bruised and two of his fingers were at a strange angle. "I'll try." Chibs flashed a smile and left, and Happy sat on the couch while you got the first aid kit.
You sat the box on the table and waved at him to remove his bloodied shirt and a wave of rage came over you when you saw the fresh tattoo. "What the fuck is that?"
He grunted. "What do you think? I fucking killed him." You knew that was going to happen by Jax's tone when he called everyone to church.
You huffed. "I ain't talking about that. I'm talking about the fact that you sat for a tattoo with two broken fingers. Do you want to get arthritis?" You rubbed your face and started to clean the open gashes on his knuckles, it would be a lie to say you were gentle, he should have come home right away, the tattoo could have waited.
"I'm sorry." His voice cracked as he spoke and you set the gauze down to look into his eyes, they were rimmed red and his breath stuttered in his chest as he continued. "You didn't deserve any of this." You fought the urge to quip back about what the other guy looked like as you picked a fragment of tooth from his finger and he stopped you to place a black and blue hand over yours. "I love you."
You smiled as the anger faded from your chest, you were relieved that it was finally over. "I love you too." You returned to cleaning his hands with your regular gentleness this time and he looked at you lovingly until you were done. "I'm going to get you some ice and some pain meds, you'll need to rest for a few weeks while those heal."
He wrapped his arms around you as you stood up and pulled you into a hug, his warm embrace making you realise how late it was and how tired you felt. "Can I shower with these?" You nodded. "Alright little girl, I'm gonna clean up, you wanna head to bed?"
You parted ways and went to go to the kitchen for a glass of water but halfway there, Happy walked to your side and brushed your wrist with the back of his bandaged hand before grabbing your fingers gently as you fought the urge to laugh at his limited mobility. "What is it honey?"
"Marry me." He sounded head serious.
"What?" It wasn't that you were going to say no, you were just shocked that he was doing it now. You figured he'd do it with his mum and aunt there, maybe some of the guys.
He placed one hand on your shoulder and rested the other one on your cheek. "Marry me," he took a breath. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, marry me."
You felt your eyes well with tears. "Ok, I'll marry you."
His face broke into a grin and he took your face in his hands as he pulled you into a kiss. You could feel the love and affection in his touch as his lips pressed against yours. He pulled back for a moment to look into your eyes, brushing your nose with his as he spoke. "I love you so much."
You placed your hand on his cheeks and smiled. "I love you too Hap."
He was smiling again and let out a chuckle. "I better call mum."

From Halloween-born nerd to billionaire playboy, Evan Marquez traded coding marathons for champagne toasts, transforming his streaming platform vision into the empire known today as Netflix.

Full Name: Evan Jay Marquez Date of Birth: October 31st, 1998 Age: 26 Zodiac Sign: Scorpio Gender: Cis Male (He/Him) Height: 6'2 (187 cm) Eyes: Dark Brown Hair: Dark Brown Parents: Mother: Elena Smith, elementary school teacher Father: Carlos Marquez, auto mechanic Net Worth: $5 Billion Hometown: Born and raised in a small town in Arizona Current Residence: Avalon, New York City â Penthouse 35A Profession: Founder and CEO of a successful streaming platform
Evan Jay Marquez was born on a chilly Halloween night in 1997, in a small, unassuming town in Arizona. The eldest of three siblings, he grew up in a modest household where his mother, Elena, an elementary school teacher, and his father, Carlos, an auto mechanic, worked multiple jobs to make ends meet. From a young age, his parents instilled in him the importance of resilience and dedication, even when money was tight. Though life wasnât easy, they fostered his interest in technology and education, sparking a passion for coding and innovation that would ultimately define his life.
In high school, Evan was the classic underdogâshy, bookish, and a little awkward. His days revolved around his computer, video games, and sci-fi novels. Although he excelled in academics, his social life was almost non-existent, and his quiet demeanor often made him a target for teasing. Popular girls overlooked him entirely, and while he had a few close friends, his true solace was in the digital world, where he felt both free and in control.
College marked a turning point. Accepted into a prestigious university in Silicon Valley through a scholarship, Evan found himself surrounded by ambitious and innovative minds. This culture of possibility inspired him to reinvent himself, ditching his old, nerdy image for a more confident version. He began working out, refining his style, and building the foundations of a streaming platform now recognized worldwide as Netflix. In his sophomore year, after countless late nights and failed attempts, the platform finally took off, gaining rapid traction and transforming him into a tech sensation almost overnight. As his company soared in popularity, so did his confidenceâand his bank account.
This glow-up brought a whole new world of attention, especially from women. The once-overlooked nerd now sported a chiseled physique, a polished style, and a billionaire's lifestyle. Yet, this attention came with a price: Evan never truly knew if people were drawn to him or to his wealth. Despite his playful, flirty demeanor and the charm he used to keep people at arm's length, he wrestled with a quiet insecurity, hesitant to trust anyone fully.
His relationship with his family remained rooted in love, though success created an undeniable strain. His parents were proud yet struggled to relate to his opulent new world of luxury and fame. Whenever he visited home, he showered them with gifts and nostalgic memories, but a lingering disconnect persisted, widening with each return to his lavish penthouse in New York.
Now, living in a sleek penthouse in the heart of NYC, Evanâs personality is as captivating as his billionaire lifestyle. Playful and charming, heâs the type who lights up a room effortlessly, wielding his charisma with an edge of mischief that makes him irresistible yet unpredictable. Known as a master flirt and unapologetic troublemaker, he has a magnetic pull that draws people in while keeping them guessing. Beneath his polished exterior, though, lies a more complex, manipulative sideâsomeone who knows exactly how to twist situations to his advantage and enjoys the thrill of control. For Evan, relationships are a game he plays with skill and finesse, savoring the chase but always maintaining his distance, guarding the parts of himself he isnât ready to reveal.

It was quiet between us as we walked through the hallway. So many questions flew through my head as I walked side by side with Arius. We almost reached my first class when I decided to speak up "Thank you." Arius stopped in his tracks, causing me to stop as well, turning to face him. His blue eyes, stared down at me in confusion, raising a brow as if to ask 'for what?'. I shrugged before continuing to walk forward "Back there with those kids. What you did-" Arius suddenly appeared in front of me, successfully cutting me of as I stumbled back in surprise.
"Let's get one thing straight."
Catching myself on my feet, my (e/c) eyes met his angry blue ones. Pointing a finger at me "I didn't do this for you." Poking me hard in the chest with the same finger, my eyes widened a little, bringing a hand up to rub my chest because it hurt. "I did this for me." Arius' hand turned into a fist sticking his thumb out, he turned his hand so that his thumb was pointing towards him. "I was pissed and needed an outlet." Shoving his hands back into his pants pockets he continued "Besides, your grandmother would be pissed if she knew I just sat by and watched as those pitiful humans talked about you like that." I watched as Arius turned around and continued the trek through the hallway.
Quickly following after him, I managed to catch up "Hey, how did you do that disappearing and reappearing thing?" He glanced over at me "What?" Looking back in front of him, a bored expression on his face, only to disappear. This caused me to stop in my tracks, my eyes darting around the hallway to find any sign of him. Suddenly he reappeared by the door to my classroom, which was a little ways down more. "This?" He asked, I was quick to catch up to the black haired demon.
"Yes that."
I leaned across from him against the door frame, leaning forward a little, as if to move closer so I could hear. This caused me to lean forward as well, an annoyed smile graced his lips "I believe you have a class to get too." He was quick to change the subject, standing back up straight, I was quick to state "You can't just waltz in there and-" the black haired demon swung open the door in front of him, successfully cutting me off. Walking inside, I went to follow, only for the door to come back towards me and almost hit me in the face. Putting my hands out in front of me, I stopped the door, pushing it back open as I walked through.
"Ah, Miss (L/n), how nice of you to join us."
The teacher sarcastically stated, but I paid no mind to her, sending a glare to the back of Arius' head. Asshole. "I was just about to introduce our new student." My eyes drifted over to the teacher in confusion, How the hell does she know about him? Was the question that rattled my brain, my eyes moving back to Arius. He glanced over at me as my eyes moved between the both of them "well? You gonna sit down or just stare?" Shaking my head a bit I found my seat at the back of the room.
"Now then, everyone, this is Damon (L/n)."
Slumping down in my seat I glared at the black haired boy at the front of the room. "He just moved here from Arizona." I glanced around the room only to see most girls fawning over him, some guys fuming with jealousy, and the rest glanced back at me as if silently checking to see if he was actually related to the freak of the school.
As the teacher continued to talk I sat there wondering how he even managed to convince her that he was a new student here. I'll have to ask him about it later. I thought as Arius finally took a seat in the only available spot, which just so happened to be next to me. "What was that about me not being able to walk in here?" A smirk sat on his face as I sent him a glare "Shut up you damn demon." I angrily whispered, not wanting others around us to hear me.
This is gonna be a long day.
âŹâ©âȘâ©âŹâ©âȘâ©âŹâ©đ» âȘâ©âŹâ©âȘâ©âŹâ©âȘâ©
"Alright so tell me how you were able to do that with the teachers."
Arius raised a brow, deciding to act clueless on the matter. "Do what?" Every class that we've been to he was able to somehow convince the teachers that he was a new student and that he just moved here from Arizona, keeping the same story in each class. At least he's being consistent. Sticking my fork in the pasta that sat in front of me, I lifted it up, taking a bite of pasta I was quick to turn my fork towards him. "Don't fuck with me you damn asshole. Tell me what you did." (e/c) eyes narrowed at him, having already been slowly loosing my patience with Arius.
Letting out a small huff, he ran a hand through his hair, moving it out of his face "Fine. I'll tell you." Leaning forward, his arms sat crossed on top of the table "I-" before he could tell me anything two girls sat down on either side of me, the two of them being none other than Julie and Flynn. "And who might this fine piece of candy be?" Before I could even respond, Arius spoke up for himself.
"Someone who absolutely despises your species. Now fuck off."
Nodding his head off to the side as if shooing her off, his face wearing the same bored expression it has been all day. Flynn's eyes narrowed in anger slamming her hands down on the table as she shot out of her seat "The fuck did you just say to me?!" Arius seemed to find the reaction amusing, a small smirk making its way to his lips "You heard me." Flynn looked to be getting angrier just from his simple response. Rolling my eyes, I was quick to jump in, as to prevent the fight that was bound to happen.
"Don't mind him, he just has a superiority complex."
I stared down the black haired demon across from me, crossing my arms a crossed my chest, narrowing my eyes at him. Arius scoffed, his expression mirroring my own as he responded "And she just suffers from dumbass syndrome." My teeth grit in anger at his statement, only for the corner of his lips to upturn into a smirk, finding this whole thing amusing.
Julie quickly jumped in before the situation could escalate "Enough! Let's just all try to be civil, and not draw attention to ourselves." Julie, Arius and I all expectantly looked over at Flynn who was currently standing up out of her seat and leaning on the table. Some hushed voices could be heard around us but I payed them no mind as I stated "That means sit down Flynn." she seemed to not get the message. Her eyes stayed glued onto Arius, letting out a small huff in anger as she crossed her arms and sat back down on the right side of me.
"So, (Y/n)."
Looking over at Julie who held a forced smile on her face as she gestured towards the rude black haired boy across from me. "Care to explain who this is?" I could tell Julie already didn't like him either, but was trying to play peace keeper so no one would get in trouble. "Who? Him?" Throwing a thumbs over my shoulder in Arius' direction, I shrugged my shoulders, crossing my arms a crossed my chest, resting them on the table "He's just some jackass I met, who now seems to be following me around like a lost puppy." I glanced over at Arius as he shot me a glare. "Not by choice. I can assure you of that." An annoyed tone being heard in his voice.
Rolling my eyes, Flynn the (ever protective) friend she was, decided to question the dark haired demon in front of us "Alright, so then what's your name? And why are you following her around?" His face went from a glare to a bored look as his blue eyes drifted over to look at Flynn. "How about you mind your damn business?" Flynn growled in anger as she shouted at him "You talking to one of my friends is my business jackass!" I felt a small tick in my throat, as a small cough passed my lips, not loud enough for anyone to hear or notice.
Flynn and Arius now being at each others throats, as Julie tried to jump in and keep even a fragment of peace between the two of them. The continuous arguing, mixed with the constant itch in my throat and the slow burning of my right wrist caused me to close my eyes for a quick second. Trying to keep myself together as another cough slipped past my lips, my left hand now gripping my right wrist in pain as I shot out of my seat and headed towards the direction of the bathroom. Ignoring Julie and Flynn calling my name.
My coughs started to get even worse, throwing a hand up over my mouth to try and stop it. I swung open the bathroom door, heading straight for the sink, not bothering to make sure if no one else was there. Leaning over it, placing my hands on either side of the sink, the stamp and my throat both burning in pain. I could feel the liquid in my mouth from all the coughing, the metallic taste letting me know just what it was. Spitting out the red substance into the sink below me as the coughing slowly died down.
Letting out a few huffs, glancing down in the sink I noticed the blood that slowly sunk down towards the drain "The fuck...?" Looking up at my reflection, I saw some blood dripping down my mouth towards my chin, bringing up my left hand, I wiped it off using the back of the hand. Catching site of the palm of my hand, the smeared patch of blood sitting on it. Glancing down to look at the counter top, a half hand print made of blood sat on top of it.
What the hell is happening to me?
I was quick to wash my hands and rinse down the counter top, not leaving any trace of blood behind. A jolt of pain coursed through my arm, Caleb's crest burning even more, huffing in pain, I shoved my sleeve on my right arm up, throwing a hand over the stamp as if it could ease the pain somehow. Shit. This must be Caleb's doing. I slowly remembered something that Caleb said last night, about Reggie and my time to live. An angry growl arose from the back of my throat "Once I figure out a way to get these stamps off..." I let out a small huff and groaned in pain "Iâll kill Caleb myself." A small cough passed my lips as I backed up and slid down against the wall.
But if I don't figure this out soon...
Looking down at my hand that covered the stamp, teeth grit in pain. I'll end up dying, and Reggie, Luke, and Alex will cease to exist. Narrowing my eyes at the wall below the sinks across from me. No. I have to figure this out. Even if I die trying. I can't let them disappear like this. I won't. I thought all while staring across from me, a determined look in my eyes, not planning on them dying for the second time, anytime soon.
âŹâ©âȘâ©âŹâ©âȘâ©âŹâ©đ» âȘâ©âŹâ©âȘâ©âŹâ©âȘâ©
The rest of lunch went by in a flash. Once I got back, Julie and Flynn were quick to question me about what happened and I just told them that I think I'm getting a cold and that I just had to use the bathroom. Arius gave me a look as if telling me he didn't buy it but didn't say anything. Julie ended up telling me what happened between her and the guys last night as well which caused me to feel a bit bad because I felt as if half of that was my fault, I could've prevented it in a way, but I didn't.
Passing the soccer ball towards Arius with my foot I continued our conversation from earlier "So tell me how you managed to convince the teachers that you are in all of my classes? Did you bribe them or something?" Arius stopped the ball with his foot, stared straight at me all while hitting the ball with his other foot, sending the ball hurdling back towards me.
"No. I used my powers. Only a little bit. I can only use so much on my own."
Stopping the ball I looked up at him "What do you mean 'on your own'? You need someone to help you?" Narrowing his eyes at me as if I somehow offended him he was quick to reply in an annoyed tone "No. I don't need help. What I need is a better connection with my dumbass witch." Sending him a glare I kicked the ball back at him.
"Not just a blood connection to my previous witch either, I need a spiritual connection."
Stopping the ball, he switched feet and sent it back towards me. "Well how the hell are we supposed to get that?" I questioned, an annoyed huff passed through his lips "I've told you a thousand times. You need my respect." I stopped the ball and looked up at him "Once you have that, everything else comes falling into place." Crossing my arms across my chest, I rolled my eyes before narrowing them at him.
"Well how the hell am I supposed to get your respect in the first place?"
I questioned, almost angrily, Arius opened his mouth to say something, only to get cut off by the coach "(L/n)s! Less talking, more passing!" Arius' head shot toward the coach, sending him a stone cold glare. While he was distracted, a smirk graced my lips, I brought my leg back and kicked the ball sending it hurdling towards the side of the dark haired demon's face. Sticking his hand up, catching the ball in it, his glare shifted over to me before reeling his arm back, sending the ball flying towards me. I jumped up and caught the ball with both of my hands bringing it close to my chest.
Arius' held his annoyed look that he always seemed to wear crossed his face "Since when could you catch a ball like that?" Placing the ball on the ground in front of me I answered his question "Since I became a goalie." Backing up a little to get a good angle on the pass, I stared down at the ball "So, since I was about..." looking up at Arius, I ran forward, passing the ball towards him "Four or so." Stopping the ball with his foot, Arius was quiet as he sent the ball back towards me.
I was quick to pass it back only for him to ask the question I didn't want to hear. "So are you going to tell me the truth about what happened back in the cafeteria?" He stopped the ball and waited for my response, I stared at him, debating what I was going to say. I opened my mouth to respond "I-" a loud whistle noise grabbed everyone's attention.
"Alright, leave the balls there and come over to me!"
I glanced at Arius for a quick second, noticing the serious stare he was giving me, already knowing that something is going on, no doubt. Not wanting to have this conversation, I decided to run off and see what the coach wanted, avoiding the conversation all together. All while an annoyed Arius yelled.
"I'm gonna find out wether you like it or not!"

chapter four of "meddle about" series brian o'conner x reader
iv. the shitty, yet perfect car
"What about parts and service?" Mia asked as she held a folder full of papers in her hands. Y/n and Letty stood by a car, fixing it up.Â
"Hold off on that." Dom answered.
"But, Dom, I don't know what to do with--" Mia cut herself off as a nasty, old wrecked, car was backed into the garage.Â
"All right, what the hell is this?" Dom asked Brian, coming closer. Everyone else came closer as well, wanting to know what the hell that thing was. "What do you got there?"
"This is your car." Brian said, proudly.
"My car?" Dom pointed to himself as Jesse hit on the side of it with his fist. "I said a ten-second car, not a ten-minute car."
"You could push this across the finish line, or tow it." Y/n said making Letty laugh.Â
"You couldn't even tow that across the finish line." Dom said.
"No faith." Brian shook his head a little with a smile, as the group laughed.
"Oh, I have faith in you, but this isn't a junkyard." Dom said, gesturing to the car. "This is a garage."
"Hey, pop the hood." Brian told Jesse
"Pop the hood?"
"Pop the hood." Brian grinned at Dom. The team moved the car into the garage where Jesse opened the hood, making it fall completely off.Â
"Two J.Z. engine. No shit." Jesse said.Â
"Goddamn, look at that thing." Y/n leaned closer to inspect it.Â
"And what did I tell you?" Brian smiled, crossing his arms.
"I retract my previous statement." Dom said, a little impressed.
"You know what?" Jesse said holding onto the crowbar he used to open the hood. "This will decimate all after you put about fifteen grand in it or more, if we have to overnight parts from Japan."
"We'll put it on my tab at Harry's." Dom said.Â
"Yes!"Â
"I gotta get you racing again so I can make some money off your ass." Dom said to Brian. "There's a show down in the desert called Race Wars and that's where you'll do it." Dom started to walk away but stopped and turned to Brian. I'll tell you what. When you're not workin' at Harry's, you're workin' here. If you can't find the right tool in this garage, Mr. Arizona, you don't belong near a car."Â
Y/n walked closer to Brian with a smirk, she got close enough to feel his breath on her face, "Guess your his bitch now." She chuckled at her comment before going working on her car.
The next day after a morning at the garage, the Toretto family decided to make the team a family dinner.Â
"Mia! Y/n! Come on, the chicken's dry already." Dom called out to them as Monty and himself grilled the chicken.Â
"Oh, shut it, we're coming!" Y/n called back to him, as she, Mia, Jesse, and Brian walked out the door bringing the things to set the table. Once the table was set and the food was placed onto it, they sat down, ready to eat.Â
"Wait. Hold up." Dom said, as Jesse grabbed a piece of chicken. "Because you were the first out of everyone here to reach in to get the chicken, you say grace."
Everyone bowed their heads, and locked their hands.
"Dear heavenly, uh--" Jesse blanked for a moment, making Y/n want to burst out laughing.Â
"Spirit." Leon finished for him.
"Spirit. Thank you." Jesse continued. "Uh, thank you for providing us with a direct port nitrous, uh, injection," Y/n let out a quiet snort making Brian nudge her side in amusement. "Four-core intercoolers and ball-bearing turbos, and, um, titanium valve springs. Thank you."
"Amen!" Leon said, as the rest of them clapped. Â
"He was prayin' to the car gods, man." Letty said, amused. Â
"If he's not the best--" Dom said with a smile, as he passed the plate of chicken around.
"Look who it is." Leon said. Y/n turned her head to see Vince walking towards them. "Old Coyotes 'R' Us. I thought you we're hungry, pumpkin."
Y/n's face dropped from joy to annoyance. Brian saw this and placed a comforting hand on her thigh. She looked at him and then down at his hand. He quickly pulled it away and before he could apologize, she put it back, placing hers on top of it.Â
"You know, I gotta eat." Vince said.Â
"He's always hungry." Letty said, blankly.
"All right, sit down." Dom waved him over. As Vince passed, he rubbed Dom's head inaudibly saying thank you. Vince greeted Mia before patting his brother's shoulder. His eyes fell onto Y/n as he sat down but she converted hers to Brian, who smiled at her making her smile back.Â
After dinner, the team went to the living room to watch a movie. Y/n decided to wash the dishes, opting to do it then rather than later.Â
"You need a hand with anything else?" Brian asked, bringing in the rest of the plates.Â
"No, I'm good." Y/n said, focusing on the dishes. "You can go join the boys watchin' the movie."
"No, you see, the cook doesn't clean where I come from." Brian said, slipped beside her. He took a towel and started drying the already clean plates and cutlery.Â
"Yeah?" Y/n questioned, glancing at him. "I'd love to go there." She then remembered something from a few days ago. "Hey, you remember you were gonna ask me something the day of the race?" She asked after a beat of silence. She stopped and turned, leaning her back against the sink. "What was it?"
Brian sighed and sat the plate he was drying down, "I was gonna ask you out. Which reminds me, do you wanna go out with me?"
Y/n tapped her lips in thought, "Hmmm, I don't know. I don't really date my cousin's friends."
"Oh, well, I guess I'll have to kick his ass then."
Y/n tried to hid her smile as she nodded her head, "Oh, yeah, I'd love to see that one. I would even pay to see it."
"Okay, but seriously. Am I gonna have to get on my knees and beg you or?"Â
Y/n smile grew even more, her heart bursting with adoration. "I don't know. You on your knees sounds like a good sight to see."
Y/n's head turned at the sound of the microwave opening. Vince let out a wheeze as he popped in a bag of popcorn.Â
"Wash my car when you get done." he said, laughing.
"Excuse me?" Y/n glared at him.Â
"No, Y/n, I'm talking to the punk. And wear your favorite dress, 'cause when you're done, I'm puttin' you on the street where you belong, cutie." Y/n bit her tongue so hard she could taste blood. Vince laughed before looking back at the microwave. He pushed some buttons and hit the side. "Is this thing broken? What's wrong with this thing?"
She couldn't stay quiet anymore. "V?" She walked closer, grabbing his attention. "V, what was that Cuban restaurant you wanted to take me to? The one with the picadillo and the--"
"Little red candles and the wooden table?" Vince grinned.
"Yeah," Y/n said, coming a bit closer. "the plantain too. I see it all over the place, what's it called?"
"Cha Cha Cha." Vince said, still grinning. Y/n grinned back and she turned to Brian, walking closer to him. "Well, you can take me there. Does Friday night at 10 sound good to you?"
"Yeah, it's perfect." Brian said.Â
"Good." Y/n said, looking down at his lips before going back up to his eyes. The two of them looked at Vince, who was backing out of the kitchen. He hit the door as he walked, angry.
"Make your own goddamn popcorn!" they heard Vince shout. Y/n placed a hand over her mouth to keep in her giggles. Brian smiled, not believing he's got a date with the most beautiful girl he's ever seen.Â
