Read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/PL9AjD5 by Scion_ofPoseidon Inspired by Fifty Shades, this is a revamped Legend of Korra version. Korra Typhon is an exceptionally brilliant college student with a broad past and an even broader future-- A popular loner who enjoys solitude, freedom, and peace. She is beloved by her family and friends, and heavily desired by MANY, but her love life has been a tumultuous one. Asami Sato is a wealthy, cold, calculated, strict, and solitary young billionaire with dark pleasures, and a much darker past-- Regarded as heartless and secretly lonely, love is her greatest enemy, believing herself immune to it and abandoned by it. By way of Korra's sick roommate/best friend/lover, and a favor for her, Korra and Asami meet, and their worlds instantly clash. Immediately ensnared by Miss Korra Typhon, Asami Sato wants her for herself. However, as stunningly beautiful and enticing as Korra may find Asami Sato, she does not succumb to her imposing, controlling, domineering and manipulative personality. In order to obtain her greatest desire, Asami Sato is going to have to learn how to yield, learn respect, accept that not everyone is intimidated by her or easily swayed, and ultimately... Change. Day 20: Family, Pic 2 (these were “finished” a few days ago. explanations for who’s who under the cut, because i like rambling about my ocs. top left to bottom right. also, if anybody at all wants to see one of these cleaned up, … let me know, i guess.)
--
Kesuk and Norbu, 11 and 10 (maybe a bit older, but, y’know, around those ages). Pulling faces, obviously. Kesuk is Sokka and Suki’s son. They have two kids; his older sister was on pic 1.
Toph and Aang with Bumi, I think. Could be one of the other kids, I guess, but was supposed to be Bumi.
Kavi and Bumi. Bumi is twelve years older than Kavi, so however old you think Kavi is, put twelve on that for Bumi’s age. I’d say maybe 3 and and 15? Idk. The symbol on Bumi’s headband is the alchemical sign for earth. Kavi is everybody’s favourite for a while, because he’s so much younger. Like, they don’t really fight with him, he’s not involved in their squabbling and bickering, because they’d never hear the end of it if they shouted at the baby. Which is not to say that they’re never annoyed by him; they are probably a lot of the time. (If anyone’s curious about their age differences, when Kavi’s born they are: 12 (Bumi), 8 (Tenzin and Norbu) and 7 (Asha).
Toph and Aang, before kids I think.
And then, Toph’s got a little brother in this AU. This is him, his name is Gan. I don’t know yet if I’ll have him be an earthbender, but I do know that he will join the Army. He’s born when Toph is 13, a few months after the war is over. For the angst, mostly, that comes with “I left home, and now there’s gonna be a new baby. They’re trying to replace me”. I put Toph in her during-the-show-clothes, because it’s incredibly hard to make her look older or younger (can’t give her a beard, seldomly change her hair) and she’s like ... 14/15 here, so obviously younger than in the other drawings.
(find some stories taking place in this au here. it starts of with aang killing ozai. fun stuff.  “a quest for honor (otherwise known as hide and seek)” is mostly about the kids. or it will be, if i ever continue it.)

-kyotowolfberg replied to your post: Important request for Avatar: the Last Airbender...
Doesnt toph have a last name. Toph beifong
Toph does, but nobody else in the original series.  To my knowledge, we have the Beifongs the Satos Iknik Varrick Zhu Li Moon (which is a Korean surname but has interesting implications given Water Tribe symbology)  Lau Gan-Lan, descendant of the Cabbage Merchant  Shiro Shinobi, announcer Jargala Omo, Creeping Crystals leader We have references to “Earth Queen Hou-Ting” but also the “Hou-Ting dynasty” so heaven only knows what’s going on there.  As far as I know, that’s it. Most of these characters, with the exception of Shiro and Jargala and possibly Zhu Li, are upper class or very rich, so it could be a class thing, but the Water Tribe royal family never gets one. Likewise the Fire Nation. Shinobi could be a stage name, the alliteration does flow really well.  Like, honestly, family names aren’t something that often comes up organically, so I understand why we don’t have this detail. But the fact that we know last names exist, and we get one for JARGALA before we know one for, say, either Avatar, is kinda frustrating!  (I’ve put way to much thought into this haha)

also when i first watched the show when i was 5, i was confused at the names bc i knew some of them were based on chinese names, and as a chinese person who spoke mandarin, i was confused why yue was you-ee and not yuè 月 and why the gan jins (干净) and zhangs (脏) were so funkily pronounced. i get that it may have been harder for the VAs to pronounce it with the tones, but it's really easy without them and beifong is pronounced properly (北方) so i don't get why they had to use such white-sounding pronunciation honestly. anyway this is really trivial but the pronunciation just really weirded me out bc it seemed like they would rather change the pronunciation than learn to do it properly lmao
An Inuk twitter user is getting harassed for politely asking an artist to take down their fan art of Katara with Inuit facial tattoos because the artist isn’t Inuit and doesn’t understand their significance and like…fucking this is why I’m wary of the ATLA fandom and fandom in general tbh
Someone from the culture the show based the water tribe on says “hey this is cultural appropriation”, and suddenly fans of this “anti-racist” show jump down her throat because she spoke up.
Seriously ATLA’s fanbase can be…such a cesspool bc people are so complacent in the show’s “woke” source material (which is a subject for another day) and so protective of this thing they’ve built their personality around that someone saying “hey what you’re doing is hurtful” is seen as a personal attack.
This is a show made by white men. I promise you it’s not as progressive as you think.
So this is a good time to remind everyone that Inuit tattooing is a closed practice, and that extends to fanart. There were quite a few Inuit on twitter who were talking about this again recently and asking that non-Inuit people respect that the tradition is not open for everyone.

tonight on making up ocs i kinda really love, but don’t know how to use: twins who were supposed to be the same height and also please ignore their hands, a toddler with weird old-man-eybrows, and somewhat decent looking brothers.
(aka: saru and sota, who are suki’s brothers in one of my fics; gan, who is toph’s brother in another; and azula’s kids in an au)

Note
would you consider giving Toph a baby brother? that fanart of lao with the twin baby boys made me think they could have another child. toph would be an amazing big sister
This ask is enabling me, because, in the first draft/timeline of my Current AU, Toph actually does have a little brother. He’s born roughly a year after the war ends, and his name is Gan. He was supposed to be a non-bender, I think, and Toph’s initially not at all happy to find out about him because she feels like he’s supposed to replace her. (Though he is 100% an accident.)
And now, have some drawings I did while sleep-deprived. It’s 3am right now.

Because this ask reminded me of his existence, here are two more doodles of Gan, who is the little brother of Toph. He’s born in 101 AG, joins the Earth Kingdom Army as soon as he can, much to the chargrin of his entire family, and eventually marries a Water Tribe woman. He’s a non-bender. And that’s about what I know about him.

Current AU, 5
Chief Sokka (Around the time Asha’s born (117 AG). I have a lot of unformed, tangled thoughts about SWT politics I won’t get into here, mostly because, well, they’re unformed and tangled. But yeah, Sokka becomes chief, and Kyoshi Island is now only visited on vacations.)
Baby Mako(to) (I stole another name. Actually, two others, if I picked up correctly. Mako’s the weird-eyebrow-guy in LOK, right? I know he’s named after Uncle Iroh original VA. Anyway, here, he’s Azula’s older son. Born in 118 AG, he’s a firebender, and takes after his great uncle in looks quite a bit, much to Azula’s chargrin. They’re civil, Iroh and her, but never really close. Also, I never really mentioned this, eventhough I mentioned Zuko setting out to find Ursa – of course, he finds her. Things are complicated, after that.)
Baby Kya (Born 118 AG as well, to Zuko and Katara. They’re married at that point, of course. She’s a firebender, I think. A late bloomer, though, and not very intuitive. Hard worker, but yeah, not very powerful. So, in the end, Fire Lord Zuko has a non-bender, a weak firebender and a waterbender (to get her own point shortly) for heirs, and people are not happy about that. So, that’ll probably be a thing.)
Gan joins the Army (Remember Gan? Probably not. I love my OCs. Anyway, he’s Toph’s little brother, and their mother is quite unhappy about him doing what he decides to do, because he was supposed to learn ... the things necessary to take over bussiness. What do the Beifongs do, anyway? Old money? How did they become rich? Still deciding. Could look at comics and wikis, but won’t.)
Baby Pema (That’s the other name I took, though not technically. She’ll actually even marry Tenzin, which is ironic, because I had completely forgotten about this chracter in LOK. Which I’ve never watched, anyway. She’s Ty Lee and Haru’s one and only child, a non-bender, taking after her mother.)
Baby Ursa (This is just a bunch of kids again. Both her and Pema are born in 120 AG. She’s a waterbender, because I tend to switch names and bending. Some time between these guys’ birth and Mako and Kya’s, Pakku and Kanna die. Also, something with Wan Shi Tong’s Library, maybe, possibly. Anyway, she’s Zuko and Katara’s youngest. Also, apparently “anyway” is the new word I’ve latched onto. The last was “rambling”.)
Baby Kisu (Youngest of Azula and Ichirou. Non-bender. Born 121 AG. I haven’t thought much about him, yet, other than deciding that he’s a bit of a history nerd and Little Iroh’s favourite cousin, honorary or otherwise. Maybe because they’re both non-benders in the Royal Family.)
Iroh dies (Uncle Iroh, of course. This’ll be ... at least twenty years after the war is over, so he doesn’t die young, but also not old-old. Kyoshi was like 200, after all, and Bumi’s at least 110 when we meet him, soo ... Yeah, maybe he does die “young”. By Avatar World Standards.)
Baby Kavi (Who’s the last NextGen kid, I promise. Toph and Aang’s youngest son, an airbender and a talented one, a lot like his dad. He’s born in 124 AG, and they settle somewhere more permanently a few years after his birth; they’re kinda nomadic up to that point, because I figured it would make Aang’s job as the Avatar a bit easier and because ... well, Air Nomads. Toph and Aang also are very freedom loving people, so why wouldn’t they continue travelling, even with the kids.)
This is basically just babies, but yeah, “Babies Ever After” and all that.
(the one with parantheses)
