Showa Gamera Timeline
Based on evidence given in newspapers or dialogue, here’s when the Showa Gamera movies took place: Gamera - September, 1965 Gamera vs. Barugon - Gamera returns to earth in March, 1966. Story jumps ahead a month to April for Keisuke’s shenanigans (or maybe it takes them a month to get to New Guinea and back? At any rate, the radio announcer says Gamera returned to earth a month ago when he’s colliding with Barugon’s rainbow) Gamera vs. Gaos - March, 1967 (specifically Showa 42) Gamera vs. Viras - No time given. Assumed to be 1968 Gamera vs. Guiron - No time given. Assumed to be 1969 Gamera vs. Jiger - Early March 1970. Expo ‘70 opened March 15th Gamera vs. Zigra - 1971 Gamera, Super Monster - No time given. Presumed to be 1980

Space Gaos’ legacy lives on! Remember, this was not the only Space Gaos on Tera. There was an entire city of them (”Old Jack City”)! The Terans even showed the two boys Guiron running another Space Gaos off on their monitors. And after the last two Terans were killed and Gamera killed Guiron then left Tera behind... The Space Gaos were left to be the dominant life form on the planet.

Chris: In Gamera vs. Guiron, there is some footage from previous films, the huge knife headed kaiju, a ufo that takes two boys to two alien women who scheme to eat their brains, Watch: When Free.
Richie: It’s an amusing Gamera film but not one of my favorites, Watch: When Free.

Attack of the Monsters (1969)
Attack of the Monsters a.k.a. Gamera tai daiakuju Giron (Gamera vs. Guiron) a.k.a. (1969)
Rating: 1 / 5
So Bad it's good rating: 4/5
"Attack of the Monsters" is a mess from beginning to end. It feels like a knockoff of other heroic giant monster films, with the sympathetic human protagonists getting into trouble after a trip to a distant planet (Which happens to be the home of a giant monster) and all hope seeming lost until the titular monster comes along and saves the day and rescues the poor humans from the aliens (see "Godzilla vs. Monster Zero"). In this instance, the effects look cheap, the monsters look like they were designed by a 5-year-old, the aliens are ridiculous and the movie has some dialogue that's so bad it's hillarious ("I dream of a perfect world, without wars or car crashes"). To say the film is silly is an understatement and it gets extra negative points for the misuse of the word "cannibal", which does not, as the movie would lead you to believe, mean "man eating". If you're looking for a bad movie to make fun of, this one is very bad and it's very easy to ridicule so you'll have a great time. (English Dub on Dvd, May 4th, 2012)
Comments: I actually accidentally watched this movie right after the previous Gamera film. "Accidentally?" yes, because the version I have is simply called "Attack of the Monsters" and is packaged in one of those cheap "50 Sci-fi classics for $20" box sets so there was no artwork on the packaging itself and I didn't read the three sentence description on the sleeves because they often contain big spoilers about the plot. Not only were we completely surprised by what turned out to be another Gamera film, but we were blown away by how terrible the whole thing was. I had so much fun with this movie that I kind of love it. I really need to watch it again and write down the best lines because there are quite a few.
