OC Muse List
~Dungeons & Dragons Muses~
Asterion Labrynthia: Minotaur prince in banishment from his kingdom. Quiet and gentle despite the great power and strength he wields. On a path of vengeance to avenge his killed parents.
Branwen Black: Ranger from the far north, raised and taught by an elite squad of mercenaries and huntsmen known as the Blackguard. Has a strangely innate connection to ravens and wolves.
Clover Brandyburke: Lagomore knight in service to a powerful archfey. On a quest to avenge his honor after his fiance left him on the altar. Serious and severe, and also naive to the mortal world.
Dariax Dendarrow: Goliath former bandit chief, abandoned after a disgraceful defeat to a young adventurer. Seeking to grow stronger to challenge the young adventurer again and defeat him.
The Devils of Emon: Based out of the Exandrian city of Emon, a band of adventurers named such for the surprisingly high number of tieflings in their crew.
Aquamarine: Tiefling rogue with ambitions to be the best thief in the region. Came to Emon and was immediately arrested for pickpocketing. Has an affinity for gems and trinkets.
Gamora Great-Bear: Orc warrior woman on a mission to find love, but just finding powerful monsters to defeat. Was similarly arrested, this time for exhibitionism, which she will do again.
Jeanne Ironwood: Woman driven by losses in her childhood to dragons. Trained by Percy DeRolo as an expert gunslinger and markswoman, and known for her cold and calculating demeanor.
Kyrie Targana: Tiefling performer who lost her arms to an abusive slaver. Was previously in a circus troupe with Omega and Thorne, and is now in a romantic relationship with Scourge.
Omega: Tiefling magician in a heated relationship with his succubus patron. Younger brother of Thorne. Definitely the most problem-attracting member of the crew.
Captain Scourge Maelstrom: Tiefling pirate captain and champion of the seas. Unofficial leader of the Devils, and the founding member. Captain of The Sea Devil, and tends to stay on his ship.
Thorne: Tiefling brawler known for getting drunk and getting into fights. Older brother of Omega. The most bristly member of the crew, often gets into fights with Jeanne late into the night.
Varris Alwyn: Tiefling warrior in loyal service to the Everlight. Seemingly ageless, and has a constant bet in the background by the rest of the Devils over whether he's really a dragon or an angel.
Verdant Wilde: Tiefling huntsman trained personally by Vex'ahlia DeRolo. Sent to Emon to keep an eye on things in Greystone Keep. Ended up forming a new adventuring crew alongside Jeanne.
Galatea the Golden-Scaled: Gladiatrix known for her gleaming golden battlekini. Left her life in the arena after repelling a raid on the city, seeing she could set out and do good elsewhere.
Jade Higurashi: Tiefling monk who was previously training to become a powerful sage for a local temple. After being thrown out, she turned to drinking and fighting to fill the gap they left.
Jaerik Aldraeyds: Changeling on a mission to find her true father in the Feywild. Unfortunately, her own naturally high libido and trend for falling to her enemy's lusts has delayed her quest incredibly.
Khadamori the Unbroken: Ulitharid warrior who was held in bondage by his own kin for most of his life. Eventually broke free and became a liberation leader, fighting to free slaves throughout the Underdark.
Korrin Vasailiis: Elven sorceress who made a deal with a demon to survive a horrible fate, and became a vampire in the process. Now on a quest to find new purpose, as her life is even longer than expected.
Lorelei Astolas: Tiefling lady of the night based out of Emon, a long-time rival and long-distance friend of the Ruby of the Sea. Known similarly as the Lady of Pearls for her pearlescent skintone.
Peregrine Weis: Tiefling warrior woman who was once a faithful weapon for a zealous church, but left when they murdered her wife. Now trying to make up for her loss, and find who she is without faith.
Riot Doomthighs: Goblin bard with a love for heavy metal music and a wild devotion to the death god Xyrnyxrys. Also known for wearing very suggestive (but still protective) armors during her performances.
Serena Clyffe: Former noble lady who fled her home after accidentally frying her would-be betrothed with lightning. Now on the run from the law, and experiencing the world for the first time. Absolutely loves storm chasing.
Terra Verdell: Wood elven druid who has never lived in high society and wants to experience all that she can of it. Left her home in the forests to seek fun. Has found plenty by way of encounters with monsters along the way.
Twilight Obsidia: Tiefling from the Shadowfell who left her abusive family to seek a better life. Currently trying to live her life as a witch in the woods, doing good for the locals and farmers.
Variax Frosthollow: White dragonborn warrior, strongest in his clan, with a destiny to become a true dragon. Was the son of a dragon himself, but was only a dragonborn rather than his true heir.
Velvetina Gingersnaps: Lagomore witch from the Feywild with a desire to see the world. Also with a desire to avoid all of the felonies and fines waiting for her in the Feywild for her past antics.
Wilder Evergreen: Tiefling-orc huntsman with a bone to pick with an archfey. Grew up in woods that neighbored the Feywild, and his sisters were taken when wandering in them. Out for blood.
Willow Wellmeadow: Lagomore druid settled in the mortal plane. Protector of the dense woodlands and warden of a portal to the Feywild. Tends to be kind and welcoming to visitors.
Xakos Duskwalker: Half-orc gunslinger and gunmaker. Studied in ancient artificing and restoration of mythical mechanisms. Had his research stolen and spread out, and is out to take it back.
Yora Vor'ziira: Dark elf rogue who was kept as a slave by her own kind and forced to fight in bloody combats. Was eventually helped free by a human slave, and now wanders the surface world seeking a home.
Zhekhar O'Shevaqt: Efreet lord, master of slaves and of coin in the City of Brass. Known for being incredibly charismatic and devilishly handsome. Also known for spoiling his toys utterly rotten.
Zurrak Hellbellows: Red Dragon, often in a human guise. Considered the King of Dragons, and reigns from a long-dormant volcano he has fashioned into a castle. Intent on conquest, and claiming more wealth.

Rough idea for post-VW (technically canon divergent but still VW-based) administrative zones for a longfic I'm working on
Adrestia and Faerghus both get chopped the fuck up into multiple provinces because it was mostly Leicesterians drawing the lines and they don't want their former rivals gathering power again; you can see that territories under prominent houses also got chopped up because again, curbing their influence. Galatea straight up disappeared because Leicesterians are petty and they haven't forgotten about the Galatea-Daphnel split lmao
In the early years following unification, Derdriu is the capital because that's the only major city in Fódlan that's not in complete ruins from the war, but eventually they build a new capital at Zanado, both for geographic convenience and to symbolically emphasize Eisner regime's dedication to treating all regions equally. (In practice most of the government jobs were taken by Leicesterians in early years, but that was hard to avoid when again, the war killed off most of the qualified people in Faerghus and Adrestia)
Also in the early years, each province is ruled by governor generals from the central government + roundtable of lords/local representatives from each territory. Once the economy and infrastructure is sufficiently recovered, the province-level roundtables are all combined into a national parliament. The province system remains, however, for various administrative purposes; for example, the national institute of higher learning (successor to Officer's Academy) has a campus on each provincial capital.
Byleth faces a lot of challenges in early years of the rule because nobody is happy no matter what she does; Adrestians and Faerghans took severe wounds to their national prides and are pissed about effectively being turned into Leicesterian colonies, Leicesterians don't like that she won't let them plunder and exploit the other two regions like they think they earned the right to. (She solves most of this by beating up the individuals who have those complaints)

Re about Faerghus and growing stuff :
We have the Nordsalat, being described as :
A magical vegetable that grows in frigid, unyielding environments. Cook into a dish that boosts charm.
In the JP version though, it's "magically" bred to grow in cold regions - so bar reigniting another round of "FoDlAn Is BaCkWaRdS" bcs even if no canons they can use magic to make things grow up in the tundra - this made me think of the AG mention, where apparently some members of the CoS are going to Galatea at the invitation of the count :
Recently, several of the church's scholars headed to Galatea territory, I believe at the invitation of the count. Galatea's evidently an impoverished place, devoid of anything but wild wastes. I guess they're working on some kind of reclamation project. In any event, I'm glad that both us and them are gonna be helping the people of the Kingdom.
Could it be that the "reclamation project" they're working on is sharing the, idk, "magic formula" to make nordsalat grow in Galatea?
The jp text for tomatoes mentions how it can only grow in greenhouses in the Monastery, and we know GM's greenhouse is somehow, powered bymagic. So maybe the CoS members are trying to teach to the Galatea peeps how to make magical greenhouses, or use magic to make plants grow?
Tl;Dr : Church BaD because they didn't share their magic(tech?) that make vegetables grow in poor soils and only do so when they are invited to :(

So this AU is based on the Scarlet/Violet storyline (because I can't resist making a whole AU)
Blossom in the class president and wannabe champion of Oak’s academy.Setting out to finish her final challenge as the next champion, Blossom comes across a strange pokemon (a Roaring Moon which basically act’s the same as Koraidon in this au and isn't apart of her team) that has its powers restricted by a strange magical device trapped to it's neck. Soon after she runs into well known trouble maker and self proclaimed evil genius Jack Spicer who wants the device for his own purposes. After a heated battle where she defeats him, Blossom Realizes that Jack knows more about what's going on than she does. So Blossom decides to blackmail Jack ( he’s been editing his grades so he’s not expelled from school for skipping) if he helps her find the rest of the pieces to whatever is holding Roaring Moon back. He agrees and the two set off to explore the region.
Blossoms is traveling to become a pokemon master and professor. Her partner is a Shiny Decidueye  named Artemis.
Team: Hatterene (Titania), Alola Ninetails (Skaði), Lucario (Apollo ), Milotic ( Galatea,), Lurantis (Persephone)   (I know most people give Blossom a fire starter because of her color scheme, but I've always seen Blossom be closer to fairy types and Ice types. Plus I can see Rowlette/Decidueye fitting Blossom more. With it being a more serious, regal pokemon. Just like how I see Blazekin fitting Buttercup more than Blossom because of it's fighting type. The rest were easy as I can see Blossom having a affinity for Ice and Fairy types, but understand the strengths of having a diverse team.)
Jack was once a grunt for Team Heylin (a group set on world control) after team Skull was disbanded and worked as a double agent of sorts while going to school. Left team Heylin for personal reasons but is now trying to track down a mysterious relic. His partner Pokemon is a Kommo-o named Young (he and Toxtricity were bought by his dad as gifts).
Team: Toxtricity (Cooksey), Hounddoom (Stein), Obstagoon (Slasher), Scizor (Ryzor), Scolipede (Venom) (Again I know people see Jack having either dark, electric or steal, even a monkey pokemon. But a fighting Dragon type seemed like his ideal (and I blame Croxovergoddess, she was right when she said it was a Jack pokemon) Plus Toxtricity is in the same boat. A punk electric poison type that has spikes? I mean come on. The rest seem like Pokémon that can be easily captured but fit him. I can see the scolipede causing the most trouble) -- I do plan on adding a few more doodle (and a separate piece for Princess and Brute because I have no self control. I even have their teams picked out lol) Any way I hope you like it!
I got the pokemon from the pokemon team maker https://richi3f.github.io/pokemon-team-planner/plan/#home because I didn't want to draw them.

Wanted to do a style challenge with classic horror guys in the Darkest Dungeon style and ended up with the worst D&D party ever.
Karloff mummy gave me a hard time. I honestly thought oh, the man is a literal stick in that movie I can do that… wrong. I redid his face like three times and the entire lineart at the end, because his height was off. I also used more of a Frankenstein green color for the skin to get a crusty mummy dust look. Gogol stands out a lot, because he has the least going on with his design and he is smooth as an egg. Ygor came out the best and he was the first one I did. I also looked up figurines to get an idea of what color the outfits would be (and yes there is a Gogol one and it looks as bad as you would imagine… still want it tho) and I’m glad that there are regional variants lol.
If anyone would like to mod them into the game feel free to, maybe then I would actually finish it. Game mechanic brainstorming under the cut.
Ygor – He is clearly the muscle. I think he should be able to summon the monster as well, but doing so would give anyone, but him stress. I mean that’s his mans, why would he get stressed.
Ardeth Bey – Magic user, could attack multiple enemies at once, but also takes a lot more damage. He’s a crumbling mummy dust after all.
Dr. Gogol – The healer, whenever he remembers to do so. He will just talk to himself about Galatea and giggle maniacally giving everyone stress. Every 5th round he will remember that he is a doctor and will do a heal. If you don’t control him, why is he in the game? Extra challenge that’s why. Weaknesses include knives.

Oh! And a map update since I've been working on that as well. I have placed in the boundaries for Itha, Gautier, Fraldarius, and Galatea along with the region's capitals (right pic is them over the in-game map for consistency's sake). I'm gonna be working on the Kingdom of Fhirdiad/Blaiddyd territory next.
This political map is gonna be sometime pre-Tragedy and does include A Lot of headcanon stuff. Anything taken from Hopes will be a case by case basis

Yuletide Recs, Second Batch
The Other Side (1200 words) Fandom: Hey Diddle Diddle (Nursery Rhyme)
The world is made up of many moving parts. Would you like to learn more? This story is metaphysical, a bit creepy, and utterly delightful!
strange games (1080 words) Fandom: Gilda (1946)
Johnny, Ballin, and Gilda go round and round like a roulette wheel. The author really captures the hateful, passionate dynamic of the film. I don't like Johnny, but I definitely feel for him in this.
before the thin man (1017 words)  Fandom: Thin Man (Movies)
Sparkling dialogue and such a witty premise! I never stopped to think how Nora met Nick. Now I know!
Move in Time with the Light (1145 words)  Fandom: Bulgari "Unexpected Wonders" Commercial
A sumptuous feast, as befitting the subject matter. The main character is fascinating and -- honestly? -- a little too much. Which is exactly how she would want it.
wilds of thought (1323 words)  Fandom: Oppenheimer (Movie 2023)
Truly gorgeous. This reads like memory, time skipping and fragments of dreams.
it doesn't hurt; there's nothing to it (4646 words)  Fandom: Dimension 20 (Web Series), Dimension 20: A Court of Fey and Flowers
This isn't a fandom with which I am familiar, but it didn't matter in the slightest. The language is courtly while still being endearing and ridiculously hot. "Weaponized sincerity" may be my new favorite descriptor.
non-regional diction (1373 words)  Fandom: Abbott Elementary (TV)
Splendid Barbara voice! Absolutely pitch perfect!
Perfume Suite (1705 words)  Fandom: Gilda (1946)
Johnny never stood a chance; between Ballin and Gilda, Johnny burns. The author really captures the dynamic between Johnny and Ballin, with Johnny's impossible feelings about Gilda proving to be the third in a menage a trois.
The New Galatea (4271 words)  Fandom: My Fair Lady (1964)
What a delight! This rewriting of the end of My Fair Lady features wonderful characterizations as well as some convincing twists that expand on the roles of Pickering and Freddy. Plus I could practically see the clothes just based on the author's descriptions!
Only One Bed (1483 words)  Fandom: The Hunt for Red October (1990)
This… should not work. It should not work at all, and yet the author manages to take a worn (but fantastic) trope and use it to craft a portrait of four fascinating men. It is both funny and sweet.
the pros and cons of being an Addams (2428 words) Fandom: The Addams Family (Movies - Sonnenfeld)
Pubert is not your typical Addams. And yet is he the best of all the Addams traits: the sensible but wry humor, the practicality, and the utter weirdness. What a great character portrait!

BACKGROUND.
Florence’s early childhood was spent in the cold north of the Guatier region, her family having lived in the Holy Kingdom of Farghus for generations, if rather in the same place. Given many of her ancestors' penchant for trade and mercantile work, they had a tendency of moving to wherever location provided the most work, and roughly around the time of Florences’ 13th birthday, her family moved once more. This time, instead of staying within the borders of their ancestral home, they moved to Leicester, passing through Galatea and Daphnel territory, before eventually settling down in Riegan territory, in one of the smaller towns, not terribly far from the capital of Derdriu.
In the 6 years between their relocation to Leicester and Florence’s attendance of the Officers Academy, her family was quick to adapt to the need of the townspeople, and as such, Florence spent much of the passing years learning all many of trade skills: sewing, leatherwork, fencing (for protection while traveling), pegasus care (learned while passing through Galatea specifically), herbology, cooking, and medicinal training.
Upon arriving at the Monastery, they joined the Golden Deer House and lent their support to their classmates with their various skills and hobbies.
After the Monastery fell, they traveled to Derdriu, rather than their hometown, in order to open up their own business; a combination of shop, where they carry tools that they are familiar with using, and a school, where they teach anyone who wants to learn skills that they are proficient in. In making their own business, they make sure to keep in touch with Claude, Hilda, and Lorenz, in order to keep their supply routes open, as well as wanting to stay aware of what else happens in Alliance.

PERSONALITY.
(Pre Timeskip)
Very soft spoken, Florence grew up in chaos and thus, while very accustomed to it, savors and prefers quieter moments and places. A gentle soul, they do not enjoy fighting but are very aware of the necessity in learning how to fight, in large part to having experienced multiple dangers while traveling in the road. They prefer to be a defensive fighter as a result, preferring to strike from a distance or provide support to their allies.
Good with their hands, they do take pride in the things they create (especially fabric / textile & thread based items & leatherwork), even if they do not say as much out loud, and many gifts they give and enjoy receiving are those that are handmade, but they also enjoy giving and receiving good food.
(Post Timeskip)
While they remain soft spoken and prefer gentility and quiet spaces, they certainly grow into a more self assured, assertive (when necessary), and more quietly confident after taking care of their own business during the timeskip. They are of far stronger personality, mainly due to their newfound confidence, they still do not like the limelight and are far happier to let others take the glory and spotlight.
In combat, they still prefer to be a defensive / support based unit, rather than a front line fighter, but thanks to their speed and evasion, they can more readily handle being at the front

Just want to say I really like your recent post about Claude and his accusations about the Church. What baffled me even more is Dimitri's somewhat agreement to his claims in their support. Did he hit his head when they stumbled into Zahras? Because especially the issue about foreign nations - surely Dimitri didn't forget that his own father had ongoing negotiations with Duscur before they traveled there on the fateful day of the Tragedy. How could he, as a king of the country with the closest[1]
[2] ties to the Church, even do that if they would forbid that? How can Sylvain hope for e peaceful solution with Sreng if they are banned from offically contacting them? And on the Crests: Ingrid is expected to be heir to her father's title and to marry for her Crest as well, because House Galatea is a really poor region. But we also learn in her supports with Shez that one of her brother could take over if she choses a different path. Surely Dimitri should know that, as king of this nation.
[3] And yet he doesn't even argue with Claude on his claims. Their support would have been so much better if the writers took the oppurtinity to let them discuss how the Church's teachings influence the current mindset if people and if/how they could be a hinderance to change in Fodlan. Because Claude thinks they need to go, while Dimitri (in AG) seems to believe he can reform his country gradually with the Church still around. But no, for some reason they didn't do that. Just like they never
[4] give Rhea a voice/her own route. I "have to" believe that she would be firmly against any reformation on society and yet she doesn't say anything about the major changes that Edelgard already implemented in Adrestia and neither to the smaller ones in Faerghus. I'm not claiming Rhea did nothing wrong, surely not. But the game wants you condemn a woman because people accuse her of things she never does throughout the story. Just because someone says it. Even if contradicting information exists
[5] Sorry for my rant lol, this getting longer than I thought. One last thing: people forget context matters. Like you said, Claude was just about two month at GM. Nothing of what makes you suspicious of Rhea during WC in TH happened here. No Lonato, no Miklan, no Western Church, no Byleth/Sothis. Claude doesn't no any of this things, yet he seems to think that he can't even try to talk to Rhea. She doesn't even know why he's fighting her. To me GW felt like some kind of "witch hunt" in the end.
Thanks anon!
And lol, don’t worry about it. Because you are right.
Dimitri agreeing with Claude on “some” level made no sense.
My own personal tin foil hat theory? The dev wanted the war to be justified and wanted everyone to agree that the Church had to go on some level.
And what better way than to have every character say “well, I do agree?” Lol.
It reinforces this weird idea that the Church is problematic, even if the worldbuilding around it doesn't support these claims!
And it’s not like there aren’t claims to be had against the Church. Secrets, mismanagement of funds, etc. Like, there is something to be said about it.
But for whatever reason, the devs went full “they ruin EVERYTHING” path. I suspect it might be because the legitimate reasons aren’t good ones to start a war over.
Man, it’s just an entire mess, really.

While I'm Leicesterposting today: headcanon + theory on the Crescent Moon War and House Ordelia being a part of the Roundtable.
So on the Leicester emblem, you can pretty clearly see symbols and Crests of Riegan, Goneril, Gloucester, and Daphnel:

Implying that they lead the independence war, which pretty much lines up with what you'd expect. Oldest houses in the region with the most clout and power, access to Relics, etc. Daphnel eventually got kicked off and all that, but yeah.
Meanwhile, there's one Roundtable house that's not represented on the emblem, one that was presumably added after the war: Ordelia.
And in Lysithea and Lorenz's supports, we hear that Ordelia is (about) 300 years old:
Tumblr media
Lines up approximately with the Crescent Moon War, which occured from 881 to 901. So I think it's fairly reasonable to assume that House Ordelia was established and admitted into the Roundtable due to their accomplishments in the independence war.
And speaking of that, Crescent Moon War lasted pretty damn long: 20 years. Someone born at the beginning of the war could have been fighting in battles by its final years.
In contrast, the war for Faerghan independence lasted 4 years, and the Unification War we see in-game lasted 5 years. War of Heroes took nearly 70 years, but tbf that was against a bunch of people who drank fresh magic dragon blood and presumably were much stronger than their descendants.
There are multiple explanations for that, one that's more or less confirmed in canon being that there were conflicts within territories as to whether stay a part of the Kingdom or not, as shown by the Daphnel-Galatea split. So it wasn't a neat "big battles with big national army against big national army," it was more like a bunch of civil wars, which obviously get messy.
I think it's also pretty likely that the Empire would have tried to intervene and get Leicester back, which would have made sense because remember: Leicester didn't break away alongside the Faerghan territories, they rebelled and got annexed after the Kingdom was established. Not only would that have been a severe wound to the Empire's pride, it would have been a fresh wound, because the whole incident was only 80 years ago, as of the start of the Crescent Moon War.
Btw I think the whole business above has some interesting implications about how the Leicester region always liked to be autonomous, and I find it pretty realistic given the geography: they have Airmid River to the south and Oghma Mountains to the northwest as natural borders. It must have been a hassle to get there from Enbarr and Fhirdiad; feels pretty likely that they would've been left more to their own devices and grown to enjoy that, especially when it came to trade and profits. (My personal headcanon is that both the Leicester Rebellion and Crescent Moon War kicked off because the Leicesterians didn't want to pay taxes to Enbarr/Fhirdiad lmao)
Anyway, back to Ordelia and the fact it was established during the Crescent Moon War, then incorporated into the Roundtable afterwards, in relation to my theory about another reason why the war took so long:
I like to think that the Crescent Moon War was about a bunch of warlords fighting each other for the opportunity to become noble lords, and on top of that the potential to become a part of the Roundtable, as much as it was about driving out Faerghan (and maybe Adrestian) loyalists.
There's nothing in canon text to support this, but I hold this headcanon for a couple of reasons. First, I think the country my blorbos (Golden Deer) are from should get to suck because it's fun. Also Lysithea is my blorbo of blorbos (alongside Claude) so it's very moe to think that she is the descendant of a ruthless warlord who slaughtered a bunch of civilians. (And I think Lysithea should get to follow in those footsteps during the war but that's for a different day)
Second, I think it adds an additional layer to Lysithea's personality and how she wants to be recognized for her own effort and skill, not "being a prodigy" or having two Crests. There's the fact the two Crests are gonna kill her at a young age, yeah, but also, what if the "we earned this by our own skill" was the founding basis and pride of House Ordelia? As much as she intends to abolish her house and give up her title as nobility for realistic reasons, what if that's the part of the family dignity that she won't/can't let go of? Stuff like that.
Third, gives some additional context on why Leicester seems somewhat more flexible on social mobility compared to the other two countries. Never ask the non-Elite Leicesterian noble houses (so everyone aside from the four featured on the emblem) what their ancestors were doing during and before the Crescent Moon War! The answer to the former is "slaughtering rival militias and also civilians" and the answer to the latter is "Insolence!! (translation: idk man they weren't nobles back then)"
Finally, it adds some beautiful irony and layers to the Leicesterian neuroses about the "savage Almyrans." Part projection, because what was 20 years of internal fighting and killing if not savagery? Part cope for humiliation, because Leicester had a hard time fending off the "savages" to the point they immediately had to go and ask the countries they'd just broken away from for help.
And finally, part looking into a mirror, because if Almyrans, with their warrior culture, heard that Leicester decided who the new lords would be by literally fighting it out?
They just might say, "Ah, you get it, we're not so different, after all," and the Leicesterians would know that was true.

MELODY
INTRODUCTION
Ruler: Melodian First Family (President Garomius, First Lady Yunmei 云美, Galatea) Capital: Three Flutes Territories: Espero, Ohm Seal: Breaching Song Whale
LANDSCAPE
Melody's landscape is a collection of large islands occupying two geographical regions: the misty forested valleys of the north and west, and the subtropical coastlines of the east, or most notably, the south. Humid summers, pleasant winters. There's lots of caves and bays hoarding jewel-toned waters. Bamboo, palm trees are common, as well as red maples (frequently seen amongst levitating burial grounds) and striking bromeliads.
Its fauna consists of water fowl, frogs, and rarer animals, like muntjacs and pangolins; alongside elephants and giant tortoises, purple "singing" whales are protected from hunting and capture. Sirens, resembling white, four-winged cranes, can mimic the voices of deceased family members, or their previous victims.
CITIZENS
Melodians are quite high-strung, and are known to be fast talkers, ramblers, with unusual vocal tics; many prefer the written word--lyrics, poetry--over verbal speech. The majority have pleasant singing voices, though, on average. Perfect pitch. An unsurprising competitive streak is faulted to Melody's saturated entertainment industry, which produces more singers, washed-up actresses, and desperate street performers than any other realm in the Magical Dimension. The latter group doesn't hesitate to outshine each other, daily, and send the crowded tourism districts into musical dissonance. Those who've failed to remain in the spotlight often end up near Melody's coastlines, where the aging population reaps the benefits of slower-paced living. Expect soft wind-chimes, fried fish, morning tai-chi, and best of all, utter tranquility. Expect that your snark and city melodrama will not be appreciated there.
President Garomius is reserved, nostalgic at heart, and holds an annual realm-wide song contest to commemorate his (and his wife's) anniversaries, and the night they first met; when marriage spats do arise, he'll often refrain from speaking to anyone, and instead address his cabinet with passive-aggressive videos. First Lady Yunmei, previously a children's music producer, naps in designated mansion chairs to the sound of old lullabies; she's a collector as well, and the sole owner of the jade-inlaid crystal "cloud" zither, or the rarest custom-made instrument one can find. Galatea is Melody's darling, the couple's miracle child, and undoubtedly beautiful and talented in every regard; already considered a realm-renowned flute player by age fifteen, her skills will grant her swift entry into Alfea's Sono-magic Program.
