Today I dreamt that me and gackt agreed to get a buck tick tattoo together. I also dreamt mark lee was cancelled in real time. So he was working on a new vid which I was the stylist of and sm just stopped giving pointers it happened in real time the rest of 127 was making fun of him it was so sad

apparently gackt has his own fansite so maybe lily has a site to contact her or at least her agency directly or so even if another company has to pay/poach her lol (though be nice if a bunch of ppl can make their own lily outfits/fan designs and tweet it at internet co or whatever to let them know there's interest)

ngl if i could draw that'd make me wanna draw a chibi drawing of gakupo with "TAX EVASION" on a shirt like what pukicho did with a pikachu shirt lol (i mean screwing over the gov would be seen as more of a good thing in the west. then again he's rich/a celeb so ppl might just think of him as a greedy upper class person)

anyways, there's vids on his insta and and i don't think his singing's gotten worse. maybe a bit deeper/slightly raspy but i feel like we kinda need that to balance all the high pitched ' anime girl' kinda voices anyways lol (shame sachiko didn't get more popular despite the demand of 'deeper' female voices i've seen out there)

i guess a voice change is inevitable considering gackt's age but yea i think that kind of voice would be refreshing with all of the anime girl type voices out there right now. i wonder if the demand for deeper female voices is more of a thing in the west than japan. i wouldn't know, i'm kinda out of touch now lmao

i wish sachiko had gotten more popular too but i guess she was too niche considering her vp was an enka singer and was made with that in mind. that style of singing seems like it'd be hard to put into a pop song and there don't seem to be that many strictly traditional style vocaloid songs, i've seen pop/traditional fusion songs (ohedo julia night, some of masa's songs... there's prob others i can't remember now) but songs with traditional instruments seems kinda rare. or maybe i'm looking in the wrong places lol

Idk about Mew but Lilys va seems to be inactive? At the very least her “official site” from Wikipedia seems to not be working (idk how many or teams use social media when someone’s not on your, but be nice to still be around, you’d think all the gushing Kaito va does about him would also prioritize Kaito nt, he’s basically free PR lol)

Shame sachiko wasn’t more popular despite some ppl complained about other vocaloids being too high pitched (and gackt has some personal issues but I wouldn’t be surprised if he just wasn’t interested/offered enough [tho feels like they should have ‘master recordings’ archived to work with him versus having him go into a studio or so])

I don't trust online activity too much, especially officially-managed websites. But also this is coping because I want a Lily update so so so bad. Also character-themed vocals have more incentive to divorce the VAs from the characters (the worst-case scenario being what happened to SeeU).

Around the time Sachiko was released, I kept seeing stuff about how she was hard to use outside her home genre of enka. Idk how true it actually is but the fact that there was that kind of discussion floating around probably capped her userbase. There's also the issue of her being explicitly based on a well-known singer probably coming with a lot of extra paperwork and red tape (thinking about all the other singer-based vocaloids as well... will Fukase ever see a significant update? Will hide and uekiloid ever stop being private, let alone get an update?).

I'm pretty sure Miku NT was based on recordings from Miku V2 or V3 so I don't think you have to rerecord for every update, but then again idk how V6 works in general, especially since it's more AI-based now. Gakupo V6 to go with Gumi sounds like a dream tho.

me rambling abt music i listened to

i used to love the metal band wintersun. ive basically listened to the album wintersun thru grade 9 and 10. because back then mp3 players had little space and mine only fit that one album. i listened to it daily for hours. for two years. yeah lol

i liked venom too i guess...

oh my fav emo band was the used. love love love. it really got me thru my worst teenage depression. i just listened to the album up and down for hours singing along whenever i was alone. so much sad

i listened to green day too, just that american idiot album. i was broke af as a teen and only had a handful of albums. my moms boss actually burned me a copy of american idiot! i was sooo happy that she did that. my mom used to clean ppls homes and i went with her a few times to help her and this lady had a really nice place and a big music ...anlage (lol) station? and she had green day and stuff and i told my mom how surprised i was that a middle aged lady was so cool. my mom told her next time and she burned me some cds :D so cool

my parents were usually v dismissive of me being goth and listening to metal music so this really meant a lot

in fact, my dad once said i was a psychopath and crazy and not right in the head! haha. now im grown up and dont call him. suck it, loser. thats what u got for abusing ur kid.

anyway, what else did i listen to? i had a last.fm account and listened to a lot of music but now i can barely recall. some japanese rock artists def. some handpicked metal songs that were popular that i got from youtube.

wintersun - like i said. emilie autumn ooooh of course. still got her stuff on my phone. her songs were my main inspiration for my first ever OC.

kate nash, yeah, my girl! i think thats from later. all her songs are super, she first started with very tv britpop, but relatable. foundation is a perf song. and over time she released more songs but she did develop a lot musically, going a bit more rock at times. super awesome. i was at one of her concerts this year. amazing experience. i love her.

k.i.z. okay. yeah. thats a german hiphop band. their thing is satire, i guess. how should i explain it. meh. i dont listen to them anymore because i started feeling uncomfortable with how they do things. they do a lot of social commentary, but they also used a lot of slurs, in like, ironic ways. that was perf acceptable back then.

theres daft punk, of course, some japanese artists, utada hikaru, dir en greys, mucc, gackt, malice mizer, ayumi hamasaki. all cool. yuna ito... whos that? ohh she was reira in nana. i listened to mika nakashima too!! that manga was really formative. oh she still makes music

Zack who had Cloud's sword at one point i think, he also looks to be like Sephiroth's long lost child, to me at least. And Sephiroth some guy with a giant ass katana who almost every girl wants to sleep with because he's just that type of bad guy and he has wings or one i don't really know. All on point and true. Non-anime hair is rare in Final Fantasy. Hell, FFXV has some of the most normal hair in ages, imo, and most of the biggest badasses there straight up have mullets and wear Black Parade uniforms a lot of the time.

Also correct. Zack inherited the Buster sword from his mentor when his mentor died, and Cloud inherited it when Zack died.

I can see it in a way, kinda, since they’re all bishōnen (+ one major character is quite literally just Japanese pop icon Gackt, to boot) and they all kind of have a little bit of anime sameface going on...

...but fwiw, Zack and his mentor are usually the two that most frequently get mistaken as blood relatives (they’re not):

It’s just one wing (hence the song being called One-Winged Angel), but this is also true. Which is absolutely hilarious to me for two reasons: 1.) he’s never given me straight and/or “I’m attracted to women/anyone” vibes in general, ever and b.) the version of Sephiroth that ppl obsess over (the evil one with the one wing and the constant smirk and whatnot that you see in non-FF games like Smash) ain’t even the real him. Lol.

The real deal — before his (canon) catastrophic mental breakdown — was a bit stiff and awkward at times, and had like three friends (including Zack and Zack’s mentor), but was ultimately a good person:

soooooo suju's new mv, yesung is peak 90s, leeteuk is looking more gackt in the cheekbones the older he gets, heechul is great and his vocals can stay forever, boy am i glad EunHae are back!!! everything was v melodramatic and i appreciated it. your thoughts?

My first thought was: Very questionable make up/highlighter +lighting choices, bc from some angles almost everyone looks like a wax figure of themselves from time to time? That is just not a visual I really dig. I need to listen to the song a couple more times bc it’s not something that instantly gets stuck in my head (ballads often need to grow on me) but damn their voices! I missed them soooo much!

seriously, SuJu have the absolute best harmonising of any male group in current kpop and they’ve been at this level ever since TV5Q stopped being a thing. (I keep throwing ‘Hit me up’ at people who want to argue with me about this *lol*) Whenever ppl go on about how they will struggle with Kyuhyun and Ryeowook in the army I kinda wanna point and laugh bc they obviously have never heard anything besides their title tracks if they still think that.

Donghae got to sing in his range and it is so pleasant to listen to? They let Shindong sing (!) and I think this is the first time I have really enjoyed Yesung’s voice in a couple of years tbh - and I agree about both Heechul and Leeteuk. (Was that mainly Teuk & Siwon singing the first part of the second chorus? And then Shindong following? I think that’s what I heard and it was wonderful.)

In general just from the amount of lines Donghae was front and center and as a stan I am loving it of course but I am also super happy that he can actually carry that much. (Especially since he is not really all that fond of being in the spotlight)

Overall I am just super happy they are back and that they are sounding incredible.
