she had a feeling this whole "pretend to be in a relationship" thing wasn't going to end well.

It all started when Izumi decided she wanted to go to South Korea.

Why? There was no real reason. One day, she found herself thinking about going on a nice vacation and South Korea just popped into her mind.

She tried not to think too much about going overseas. She was MANKAI Company’s director and she had responsibilities. But it didn’t help when her email kept getting flooded with advertisements from tour companies offering really attractive package deals. One night, it was two in the morning, she was tired, she was kind of hungry, she received a well-timed email and the next thing she knew she had clicked on the ad.

No. No, no. No. But her hand seemed disconnected from her brain and she just stared at her screen as she looked through the different images of what Seoul had to offer – hanboks! Jeju Island! Snacks and souvenirs! Nice scenery! A break from her work!

The next day she spoke to each of the troupe leaders and asked if they would mind if she went on a short holiday. None of them raised any objection, and there weren’t any plays coming up soon, so this was the best time to go on vacation if she wanted to. In fact, they all seemed to want her to take a break.

She felt a little bad. But yeah, maybe it was time she took some time off for herself. She had some concerns about travelling though. Izumi didn’t want to go with a tour, which meant she’d have to sort out her flight, accommodation and itinerary.

Food shouldn’t be a problem. Seoul looked like it had lots of things to eat. She was curious about kimchi. She’d never tried it before. Maybe it would make an interesting addition to one of her curry recipes? She’d have to give it a try.

She reminded herself to search for a place to stay, preferably with a kitchen. She’d like to still have curry when she was overseas, and there was no guarantee that she would be able to find any good curry in Seoul.

Another problem she considered was the language barrier. She didn’t know any Korean at all – well, besides annyeonghaseyo and gamsahabnida, or however you pronounced those. She was pretty sure two phrases wouldn’t be enough for her to communicate with anyone. But maybe she could scrape by with the help of Google Translate.

Nevertheless, after she booked her flight and found some affordable lodging – yes, with a kitchen! – the next thing she did was go to a nearby bookstore and purchase a guidebook for Seoul and a basic Korean language book.

That was where Itaru found her, sitting on the sofa and staring at her language book, trying to memorise basic phrases. Like how to ask for directions to the nearest restroom.

“What’s that?” He flopped onto the sofa beside her, his gaze focused on his mobile game. Izumi didn’t look up from her reading.

“Um, I’m trying to learn some basic Korean. I don’t want to get stuck in Seoul not knowing how to speak to anyone,” she mumbled, the words on the page beginning to blur together. She never did have a head for languages, and this book was not helping in the slightest.

“Oh? Korean isn’t super difficult.” Itaru was jabbing his finger furiously against his screen. She didn’t want to know what he was doing. “I can teach you if you want.”

She blinked, looking up at that. “Wait. You know Korean? How come?”

“I used to play this Korean game. Had to pick up a little to understand what my party members were saying.” Itaru stopped poking his screen, then held his phone out to her. “Hey, pull for me, will you? I want this new SSR card.”

She sighed but reached over and tapped the button anyway – ten little boxes appeared on the screen and started to shake. Itaru skipped the animation and stared at his screen, studying the results. “Oh wow, Director, your gacha luck is pretty good. See? She looks just like you.” He showed her the screen again.

It wasn’t the first time she had seen Itaru’s favourite in-game girl. She still failed to see the resemblance. “Uh. I guess?”

“I’m going to make her my main page character.” She stared at Itaru fiddling with his phone for a while before she suddenly remembered what they were talking about.

“Wait, wait. You know Korean!” She repeated this just to be certain, and Itaru nodded absentmindedly. “And you’re willing to teach me?”

“Well, yeah. You just want to know some basic Korean, right?” he asked.

“Just enough to ask for help if I get lost. Or ask for recommendations, maybe.” She glanced at her language book again and promptly shut it. Nope, not helping at all.

“Sure.” Itaru suddenly put down his phone, and she blinked, taken aback when he met her gaze. “I just have one favour to ask, though. It’s not difficult or anything,” he added, noticing the way she hesitated. “But you’re the only one who can help me.”

“What do you need?” Fine. If he was going to teach her Korean, then helping him out was the least she could do.

Itaru smiled. She wasn’t sure whether he did it intentionally or not, but this was his princely smile and while it was undeniably charming, she suddenly had a really bad feeling about it.

“There’s going to be a company dinner on Friday, and I’ve exhausted all my excuses, so I’ll have to show up this time. I was hoping you’d go with me.”

“Me?” She immediately panicked at the thought – she remembered the last time she stumbled across Itaru at one of his company events, surrounded by a whole bunch of women. The moment he saw her, he pounced on her and used her as an excuse to not go for karaoke with them – the way those women glared at her still left a bad taste in her mouth. “Itaru, the last time your colleagues saw me, they looked like they wanted to kill me.”

“You’ll be fine! I promise!” he wheedled. “If I bring a date, they’ll get off my back and I can go home earlier. And I’ll help you with your Korean. It’s a win-win!”

She found herself a little swayed by the desperation in his eyes. It was the first time she’d seen him so emotional…if she didn’t count him yelling at his screen whenever he lost one of his games. “It’s just one night, right? No more after that?”

“No more after that,” he affirmed. She paused, considering her options – her trip to Korea was in a month. She had seen the way Itaru tutored the other boys and she knew he was a good teacher – he could probably drill some basic phrases into even her language-resistant brain. And all she had to do was pretend to be his girlfriend.

“You know I’m not a great actress, though…” she cautioned. “What if I give it away and the others find out that we’re not really together or anything?”

“Don’t worry. I won’t say that you’re my girlfriend, so it’ll be totally up to their interpretation.” Itaru smiled. “Unless you want to be my girlfriend?”

She felt her face flame. “No!” she blurted out, waving her hands in front of her. His grin just widened. “I mean, not that you’d make a bad boyfriend or something, but no!”

“I was just kidding, Director. You know, you’re cute when you’re flustered.” Itaru leant back into the sofa, stretching. He kind of reminded her of a cat. “So, you’re okay with the plan, right? Keep your Friday evening free then. It’s a date.”

Her face was still warm. “You don’t have to say it that way,” she protested.

“But I want to.” He laughed at the look on her face and she pouted, wishing he’d stop being amused at her expense. “Anyway, I’ll hold up my end of the bargain. You want to start learning some Korean now?”

She nodded. If Itaru was offering, then they might as well – after all, it was rare that he didn’t immediately slip into his room after returning from work.

He reached for her book on the table, his fingers just barely grazing her hand, and she shivered – when he flipped to a random page, his dark blond bangs falling over his forehead, she couldn’t help but think about how good-looking he was.

That time she saw him at his company event, he had been so charming, his dazzling smile reminding her of the first time she ever met this man. But she liked him best when he was relaxed like this, and not wearing his public persona. After finding out what Itaru was like in private, it was hard to take his work image seriously.

He glanced up from the page and caught her eye, his lips curving into another lazy smile, and she quickly averted her gaze, pressing the back of her hand against her cheek. Yep, still warm. How was he so good at getting under her skin?

But there’s more! Following Patch 2.0, we’re now rolling out Patch 2.1 with more improvements to make your Mitrasphere experience even more enjoyable.

To start with, we’ll go over a brand new feature:

WORLD RECRUIT FILTERS (BETA)

In order to improve the party finding experience, we’ll be adding a new Filters feature to the World Recruit system. With this new feature, players will be able to filter the types of rooms they wish to join based on event type (*in progress), CP Limit, and Jobs.

You will be able to find this new feature at the top of the World Recruit chat box. Please note that this feature is currently in its beta phase, and we will be working to improve it over time.

We encourage everyone looking for parties to make use of the World Recruit chat as we look to improve upon the party finding experience.

NEW BEGINNER’S LOGIN BONUS

We’re introducing a permanent daily login bonus for all new characters to help boost them through the early stages of the game. The new login bonus will consist of the following, and will stack with any other special login bonuses happening at the same time:

so i went to california a few weeks ago and...

No, I didn’t go ham. I had friends who were like “HERE HAVE THIS” and then I had this thing, and later went to a convention and THEN I went ham.

Also this was my first non-family trip so I sort of bought a souvenir anywhere I deemed important enough to do so... America, you took a lot of my money. Oh and Disneyland too.

...also I couldn’t fit some things and forgot others in that top pic.

a backpack I bought solely so I was able to even bring all this back, and the posters/prints I STILL needed a friend to ship back anyway...

and this cute koishi i bought, all of three of which were from fanime, yes...

Disneyland souvenirs! A friend (Souless) bought the one of the left. You may have noticed Minnie Mouse ears on the first photo! I didn’t actually get them from Disneyland itself, t’was a gift from our Disneyland veteran who led us to many-a-ride and the least amount of waittime possible, Souless’ fiance Kat. :)

And yes Inside Out is my favourite Pixar movie. Watched Coco recently which was really good, but it’s only second to Inside Out. P:

Let’s start off with my ridiculous friends who decided I needed to own more merch:

All of this was bought by my friend Cannibalfood AKA Akira who went to cons and saw stuff I might like but never got around to actually shipping them to me.. and then, came with me to California and brought this stuff. This is why Negima is on there. It’s been that long.

Oh the non-weeb stuff is souvenirs I got with her while we were in San Fran, including Alcatraz touristy photos since we have few pictures together, a taxidermy place where we each got matching stingray barbs, how romantic. The rock was my very first souvenir. I wasn’t expecting on buying anything else in that shop, so it is the most boring thing here.

Next is stuff given to me by various people. The gacha is from Magus, the guy who I stayed at for about half the trip and spent the entire trip WITH since he also went down to SLO and I also shared hotels with him for Fanime. Awesome host, will do again. 10/10. I have another button from someone else but I accidentally included it wit my fanime merch pile photos, so it’ll be along shortly.

The dreamcatcher was made by SlimeMush’s friend who I paid $10 for, and for some mysterious reason it kept being returned to him every time he tried to send it to me. I couldn’t get a good pic of it alone because my cat kept attacking the feathers. SlimeMush also gave me the Flareon button! Apparently all the Eeveelutions he had went to those whose favourite was so-and-so, and apparently there’s equal amounts of love for all of them except for the two he kept himself because he loved them the most. Yes. Flareon is my favourite. :D

The gacha is a ditto + a ditto version of Sableye.

This Monster Hunter blindbox was given to me by Wolfe, whom I’ve had a few MonHun merch exchanges with so far. I also gave him a MonHun figure from another line, which I’ll elaborate further (because I gave them all out similar to SlimeMush giving out the Eeveelution buttons) and kept whichever was left behind. This is Monoblos! I didn’t fight him all too often so I don’t have much impression of it as a monster, also I thought he was white but w/e, still very cool looking to add to my collection!

Now of all my loot THIS is the stuff I really could have done without in terms of when and where I spent my money. I bought that Incineroar evolution line figure sort of on a whim at a random city in the middle of nowhere, California while on the long drive down to SLO. The Touhou blindboxes, Digimon CD, and RWBY manga came from Kinokuniya in Japantown. Just wanted to buy them because. Even if the Tri series was mediocre in the end the nostalgia still has a strong grip on my heart, especially that music with Kouji Wada. ;_;

And the most touristy thing was buying this wind chime at a gift shop in a spa that I really didn’t need but it was pretty so w/e.

As much as I have been distancing myself from the show, RWBY’s manga has wondrous art. It also decided to focus on some random unknown side character named Ruby instead of the main characters, which I thought while was quite the bold move, was rather refreshing.

So yeah I went to the island prison in San Francisco where AAAAAALL the tourists go. In my defence I have a genuine interest in prisons. Just ask my 300k RWBY fanfiction in which the first quarter of it is set in a prison. It is also not my first prison fic. I put lots of research in that setting to write that kind of shit.

Also all the souvenirs were the most gimmicky things possible that I didn’t think I’d ever use or would just be paperweight. Except this bag! I may actually use this bag! I know!

And excluding the stuff that is too big or I forgot to take a pic of near the beginning of the post, THIS was the Fanime loot! Magus got me the Monokuma onesie which was extremely nice of him and now I am no longer perpetually cold. Ah yes the warmth of the hide of a psychotic bear. So good.

I could not believe the artist who made one of my favourite Aya pics EVER was at the artist alley. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. Obviously this was an instant purchase. This was my phone background for the longest of times. She had Touhou artbooks too but they sold in the first twenty minutes of the first day of the artist alley. Wow. My friend may try to snag me some at AX in July, so here’s hoping!

I didn’t see a lot of specifically Weiss prints there, and this was the best of the lot IMO. My only wish was that it was a brighter print, or that Weiss herself being so white would stand out more because it’s the least noticeable thing on my wall atm, which is a shame.

I say this when I saw precisely ONE Aya print (jackpot) and one of another coming up in this bombardment of pics.

THIS IS PERHAPS THE MOST PROVOCATIVE ONE HERE LOL. But it was the only Tenko, and DRV3 merch was the most difficult of everything I was looking for to find. Unlike 95% of Tenko art SHE ACTUALLY HAS VISIBLE ABS HERE, which according to the official artbooks she’s supposed to have, so bonus points for that. I had a brief discussion with the artist too and we both agreed Tenko was the best and Ouma was overrated. He has great taste.

Overwatch on the other hand was all over the place in this con, from merch to art, to cosplayers. There were so many cosplayers they didn’t even have enough time to run through half of the tanks and all the supports at the shoot! So sad, so sad. This piece of Widowmaker is beautiful though, so I had to have it.

I saw this online a while back and really loved this image of all the Overwatch ladies being formal. There was a suit-version too, but for whatever reason I preferred this one. Sadly this print is quite small, as it probably would have benefited the most in being larger what with the many characters and thus detail.

Out of all this mess the one thing I wanted the most and hunted for the most was charms. I found NO GOOD CHARMS that fitted my taste and interest, and the closest were these buttons. Oh, and I met my good friend Raphyninja at Fanime and he gave me EXCLUSIVE RAPHYNINA MERCH! Thus that button being here and not in the friendo pile. ANYWAY. There was a deal, 3 for 5, so aside from the obvious ones I grabbed Kork. I love Kork. I didn’t think I would for that type of character, but somehow DRV3 managed it. He will of course be very far away from Tenko and Himiko though. >_>

Here’s a page from one of the Touhou doujins I got, which in hindsight I maybe should not have got? Way too late I noticed that I recognized the seller who I think showed up on a Tumblr post warning of a creeper at the Touhou shoots. He’d try to take pics of cosplayers in a private hotel room at weird, uncomfortable angles as far as I remember, so uh, oops? I was just so excited at finding Touhou doujin for the first time ever that I paid zero attention to the person selling so hopefully I am wrong and they were just someone that resembled that person.

Also I recognized this artist for their cute Satori Koishi content, but could not find any of their Koishi doujins. Sadness.

I bought two Monster Hunter blindboxes at Fanime because CLEARLY I need more, right. I got a Nargacuga, including the box left remaining in the pile I gave away and the one I already have... I now have three Nargacugas. That’s quite a lot for something I never fought before...

I also got this tiny Zinogre. If we include my buttons I have FOUR Nargacugas now and FOUR Zinogres. The difference is I have fought Zinogre multiple times (I have no idea exactly because I have 600 hours in 4U >_>) and actually really like him! Sadly, in grand tradition like the last time I visited San Francisco (when I was five) I lost something, that being my favourite MonHun button, Zinogre. It is now in the wild with my teddy bear and my hat, forever gone in the California abyss. ):

I got this at the swap meet for 6 dollars. It may not have a stand and is rather dusty, but damn is that a bargain. My only regret is not having the GIGA DRILL BREAKAAAA model instead. I also got that Monokuma bag there too, but that was just because I went there and couldn’t find a single thing I wanted until I saw the bag, which I was on the fence on but wanted to buy SOMETHING from there and got it, thinking that was it ... but then this and the Touhou doujins showed up, soooooo...

Finally this other Nargacuga that was left behind became my monster in that line of figures, the rest in the hands of my friends. It’s actually cuter than I expected, and barely fit in this cheap crappy display case I bought at a Daiso. I moved my dresser a nudge and the Pokemon fell over, so yeah.

You may have noticed a drop in quality in the photos and that’s because I cannot be bothered to touch up such a gargantuan amount of images anymore, not with the time I have. Would be nice tho. SO, THAT IS THE GIANT POST OF SPOTTO’S MERCH, NOW WITH 100% MORE QUANTITY THAN BEFORE! I spent too much money so I might as well get something out of it by BRAGGING about it! Right?

To earn new characters and some robust weapons, Genshin Impact uses a “gacha” system, meaning you can purchase loot boxes for a slight edge. The loot boxes are named Wishes as some of them arrive seasonally; however, others are always there and much similar every time. We recommend you save your Wishes and whenever you want to spend, spend them every time, in a group of 10.

We recommend you to do this because the moment you open ten at the same time, you will get a guaranteed four-star character or weapon. They are the second-highest tier that is available in the game. There are also chances of getting five-star rewards, but they are not more than 0.6 percent.

You Should Save your Prismogems and Stardust for Wishes

Even though you can buy wishes with your real money, you can also earn them in the right amount just by playing Genshin Impact. There are two currencies you get in the game that help you buy the wishes. They are Prismogems and Stardust. You will get Prismogems by doing basic activities like fighting bosses or completing the missions. On the other hand, you would earn Stardust by opening Wishes.

You can convert the Prismogems into Wishes directly from the Wish menu; however, the Stardust can only be converted by using the shop menu, present in the section named “Paimon’s Bargains.” Stardust helps you to purchase only five Wishes per month.

While in Combat, Swap Characters Often

You will be able to play with a handful of characters in Genshin Impact in no time. Every player will have a different type of elemental damage type, which triggers various kinds of explosive effects when you combine them with other elements. You might get the habit of playing up with only a single character, but you should swap the characters often during the gameplay. You can do it by pressing the key associated with that process.

Set up various kinds of devastating combos, by casting the water-ability of one character to the fire character of the other, and then you can use a fire spell to launch a vaporized effect.

Talk to every NPC, as they often have secret quests and more

There are a lot of characters in the gameplay that have quests or have rare items that you can purchase from them and use whenever required. Whoa! Time flies. I’ve been away for a couple of days and have returned with yet another cold to show for it. This is not good. So, while in RL I look like sad Rudolf again (with my red nose) I still have loads of great stuff to show you from SL where I can pretty much have my nose any way I want it due to the first ever Powder Pack release.

If you’ve not heard of Powder Pack, it’s a new monthly ‘box’ and one where you pay 1500l$ before the release date, either on marketplace or at their store and they send you, by return, a folder. You attach the little thingy in there and then you are automatically sent the Powder Pack on release. You don’t have to keep the little thingy on til it arrives – it’s just to ensure that the right person gets the pack (purchaser doesn’t always need make-up, I guess, do check it’s transferable before purchase though!).

You can get previous packs after release, but the price increases to 3000l$, which at first you might think sounds steep but if you’re into skins and make-up appliers for your Catwa head, it is still a huge bargain. Let me show you some of what I got in January’s box.

Powder Pack hit our screens on 17th January and I’d be fibbing if I didn’t say I was shocked and surprised at the amount of great stuff within the box. For starters, I didn’t expect entire fatpacks of skins to be present, I thought it’d just be some make-up, which I’d have been happy with, but this was too great an opportunity to turn down. Firstly I had a play with the skin pack provided by Elysium, details above, and loved that much. I added the Chunky lashes by Okkbye, along with their Faux Freckles in various options and the Dewy Highlighters too. I was overjoyed to note that they’d included an Omega body skin applier so that you could match it all up on your mesh body too. You can find out more about Powder Pack on their website.

I’m delighted with Besom’s final hair from the Deeply Rooted gacha. It’s unusual in having so much height, I think, but funky as anything and available in an array of great colours through the HUDs on offer. You can grab that at the Epiphany for another few weeks.

Bueno have spoiled me this month. The Wrap Dress which I’m wearing in cream comes in Fitmesh, Hourglass, Freya and Isis versions (I’m wearing the fitmesh size on my Maitreya Lara with no problems) you can find it at Kustom9 until the 10th of Feb.

Additionally, they have a great gacha named Uptown at Kustom9 too. I loved the heart shaped glasses so much they might have to stay on. I’m also showing the clutch bag and a groovy e-cig, which you can only see in the pics below.
