Why GRE Exam Preparation Coaching Classes is important?

For students who are aspiring to continue higher studies in nations such as Canada, the United States, or other countries, the GRE is one of the significant factors in securing admission to…

Kaliiiiii. It's done. My manuscript is done (don't remember if I told you already) but as of this afternoon I am officially in first stage editing period aka proofreading!
Ya girl is an author. Period! Loving that for me. Feeling myself a little about it. Any whats. As of tomorrow, I'm officially in training for my GRE and writing my sample piece so one last night of horny on main
Modern day!Sukuna does not let his baby mama study. Y'all got a whole ass kid, and you had to take two years off after giving birth for bonding and shit. But it's Japan so the childcare is available. After baby is two you tell Sukuna that you're going back to classes and he's like "but why though? I take care of you" and your like.."Motherfucker cause I want to!?!?" You were half way through your masters!"
So you get enrolled, and you're doing well until a few weeks into your classes, Sukuna gets bored. He starts distracting you with neck kisses. And you're like "Baby stoooop" cause you can't focus. He does not. He gets worse. Progressively distracting you with sex every other day. And don't get me wrong, the sex is immaculate. Phenomenal but you are behind in three classes. Your professors are worried. Your next version of your thesis is due next week and you're on your back with your legs wrapped around your baby daddy's head cause he wanted to taste you.
It's not really a surprise to you when you end up pregnant again. And Ryomen Sukuna is too fucking proud of himself. Cause now you're gonna stop again right? Wrong. Your ass finishes (miraculously) in your eighth month of pregnancy. And while he was annoyed by how much of your time it took away from him, he is proud that his woman is that smart. And he's holding your now 3 year old on his shoulders as you walk across the stage.
Needing the encouragement- 🧠
AHHH CONGRATS 🧠 BABE!!! I'm proud of you and you should be proud of you too miss author!!!
oooh GRE! good luck!! i bought all these prep books for the GMAT to get into business school but then since I applied during covid they waved the GMAT for part-time applicants with enough relevant work experience so i got a wavier! i suck big time at standardized tests. any test really lmfao. but im a rockstar at a presentation or a paper.
ALSO OHHHH MY FUCKING GAWD!!! I SHED A TEARRRR (im def ovulating). That is so fucking cute i cant stand it!!! I just imagine reader waddling across stage and Sukuna and his hellspawn being extra loud that even if they are not very close to the stage you still manage to hear them loud and clear.
"but why though? I take care of you" and your like.."Motherfucker cause I want to!?!?" You were half way through your masters!"
PERIODDDDDDDDT OMFG YOU LET HIM KNOOOOWWWWW!!!!

Have been agonizing for the past year about which grad program to apply to - either a. PhD program in social science field I majored in that’s more aligned with my intellectual interests, career goals, and general political leanings (I.e. I don’t vote) or b. Professional cash cow masters degree program in the field I work in (I think I could get funding w a good GRE score tho). Pros and cons for both and option b might be demoralizing enough to send me over the edge once and for all but anyway I just realized I don’t have access to my student outlook account anymore w all my research papers and my honors thesis…plus I lost all the backup files on my computer a couple months ago. Like I opened up my documents folder and it was just sims 4 mods. The only solo authored work I have now could only feasibly work for applying to masters in redacted programs. Reached out to alma mater’s IT desk but who knows what they’ll be able to do I wouldn’t be surprised if they deleted my account forever. Feeling pretty chill about this tho bc it’s like im giving up this decision to the universe
Either IT will give me access and I’ll have an array of appropriate writing samples to submit for PhD apps or they won’t be able to and I’ll just go to whatever cash cow program gives me the most money. I don’t even want to be an academic anyway I just care about theory more than everyone else in my field
The stupid fake problems I have Lol what ever this is my blog I’ve had since I was 12 and I can post about whatever I want

How I scored 318 on the GRE in TWO WEEKS
Introduction
If you can find the right approach to studying for the GRE, it's not out of reach. In fact, I scored 318 on my first attempt at the exam in just two weeks! How did I do it? And what can you learn from my experience?
Tumblr media
How to score 318 on the GRE in 2 weeks.
Use practice tests and review mistakes
Get a copy of the ETS 12-Week Official Guide, which contains over 1,500 questions in total. The guide is divided into four sections: Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Analytical Writing, and Math Skills Practice Exercises (which is where you'll find all of your drills).
Identify your weak topics within each section: for example, if you're weak at algebra but strong at geometry then focus on drilling those specific areas until they feel comfortable again before moving on to other topics that might be easier for you but still require some work such as vocabulary or reading comprehension passages
THE BASICS OF A GRE STUDY PLAN.
You're going to need a study plan. The most important thing you can do is use the ETS 12-Week Official Guide, which has detailed explanations and practice questions for every section of the test.
Take full-length practice exams under timed conditions with scratch paper. This will help you identify your weak topics so that you can drill them later in your studies to increase your score in GRE exam. Make sure that before attempting a question again on that topic, you understand it fully--don't just guess at answers!
If there are any math concepts or skills that you don't fully grasp yet (e.g., algebra), make sure to go over those first; otherwise, they'll just be wasted time in terms of scoring points on the GRE because they won't allow for accurate answers when applying knowledge from other subjects like geometry/trigonometry or arithmetic reasoning (arithmetic).
DAY 1-4
Use practice tests and review mistakes.
You should use practice tests to identify your weak areas and review mistakes. Don't spend too much time on any one question, because this will only lead to more anxiety about the score. The GRE is a test of logic and reasoning, not memorization or speed-reading skills (though those can help).
You will also want to stay calm during the test; being nervous won't help you do well at all! If possible, take a few deep breaths before starting each section so that when it comes time for an essay question or experimental section, your mind is clear enough for effective analysis rather than overwhelmed by anxiety about how much time has passed since the last question was answered correctly.
(Explore: GRE sample papers and question papers)
DAY 5-8
Use the ETS 12-Week Official Guide and take full-length practice exams under timed conditions with Scratch Paper.
Review mistakes and identify weak topics:
Look at your score report, which will tell you which questions were answered incorrectly and how much time you spent on each section of the exam. If a question was hard for you, determine why before attempting it again in future practice sessions (or during your real test).
After each practice test, review your answers so that you can see how well or poorly they match up with what ETS considers correct answers for those questions!
DAY 9-14
Identify weak topics, drill them, and make sure you understand them fully before attempting questions on them again.
Now you can begin identifying the weak topics. You should have a good idea of your strengths and weaknesses by now, so this will be easy to do.
Once you have identified your weak topics, drill them until they are no longer a problem. If one topic is giving you trouble (as opposed to just being on the harder side), make sure that before attempting questions in that area again that it is fully understood by doing some more practice problems or reviewing your notes from class/the textbook if necessary.
The GRE is a challenging test, but with proper preparation, it's possible to boost your score significantly!
The GRE is a challenging test. It's important to prepare for it by taking practice tests under timed conditions, and using the ETS 12-Week Official Guide to get familiar with the format of the test.
I took full-length practice tests under timed conditions once or twice per week, as well as shorter diagnostic exams every day (usually 25 or so questions per session). This helped me identify weak topics that I needed to drill on and make sure I understood them fully before moving on to other topics.
Conclusion
I hope you found this post helpful! I know that the GRE is an intimidating exam, but with the top preparation tips for GRE  and a confident mindset, it can be conquered.

The 1st first step is to start early; you can seek help from SOP writing services online, which can offer assistance on various academic papers, including preparing for test exams.

Know the format
Some students want to study in Canada from India, so for that reason, they need to understand the format of the exam they are going to sit for.
Without the proper knowledge, there is no way you can get high grades on a paper, so have clarity about the format. The TOEFL exam consists of four parts- speaking.

One of the most crucial parts of attempting the TOEFL exam is vocabulary. If you are attempting the exam, you need to make a target to learn new words and incorporate them into your daily conversation.

Hi Dr. Matt! I absolutely adore all your verses, they are beautifully written and comforting in a very real-life way. I am here to seek academic wisdom however! I am an undergrad who hopes to apply to grad school next year. I feel kind of behind in academia tho. What are your top suggestions to try and accomplish in undergrad to get into a good graduate program? I have a high GPA but my school is kind of lacking on the research front. I am first gen college in my family and kinda struggling :^)
Hi Anon!
1) No need to feel behind in Academia. We have a toxic culture that already makes everyone feel behind enough as it is ❤ If I could give any potential grad student one piece of advice it would be not to partake in that sort of grind/perpetually-catching-up culture.
2) these are great questions! And it all comes down to the type of institution you are applying to for graduate school and what you are applying for (Masters of Arts, Masters of Science, PhD, etc).
There are different levels of schools, although it's never really explained what they are (hidden curriculum like WOAH).
Essentially you have state-level schools like a state universities, private institutions like Brown or Rice, and then like hyper liberal institutions like the Open University.
If you want to do a PhD, I'm not gonna lie: it often pays to do it at a high-level research institution like the University of California or Yale or Rutgers etc. But if you're looking to do an Masters and don't have plans to get into academia (for example, you need the Masters for the job you want like to go into counseling or to become a professional artist), then it is WAY WAY cheaper to do that shit at a state university or the hippie equivalent in your area (lookin' at you, Open Uni. It's okay babe, if I had to do another master's I'd pick you every time).
So depending on the institution(s) you're applying to, your preparation requirements will change.
Generally speaking, if you're going into an MA or MS at a mid-level university, then you don't actually need to have that much research experience.
Here is what a typical Master's application requires from you:
Application
Writing Sample
CV/Resume
2-3 Letters of Recommendation (1-2 from Academic sources like professors preferred)
Possibly a personal statement, this varies from school to school.
Possibly GRE scores. Also varies from school to school.
In terms of building up your CV to be competitive: maybe a conference or publishing a paper in a student journal your last year would be good, but you don't have to like, be published in Nature or some shit.
If you can join a few academic honor societies (example, for history we have Phi Alpha Theta: https://phialphatheta.org/ go ahead and google your field + university-level honor society to see what you can join) and get involved with doing assistant research work for a professor or the library or a local institution, that will help too.
What you for sure want to do for sure if you're planning on doing an MA, is to try to write at least one long/significant research paper your final year of undergrad so that you'll have a writing sample for your chosen institutions. The more feedback you get on that sample, the better. This is where the Admissions folks are going to gauge your research skills. A lot of people just use papers they wrote for class and they tweak them a little before submission.
Now, let's say that you're a fucking beast who's trying to go straight from Undergrad to PhD (which I don't actually recommend btw, but that's a whole different conversation), in this case, you want to do everything outlined above but harder. And on top of that, you want to be really sure to start looking at potential funding sources. PhDs in the US will sometimes only accept you if you demonstrate you have money or are going to come into money. But under NO circumstance would I ever recommend self-funding your PhD.
There is not one good reason to do this. I don't give a singular shit what anyone has to say. If you aren't paid to do your PhD, don't do it.
That being said, you can take out loans for your Masters, but a lot of schools have scholarships and fellowships that you can earn during your masters to help you pay for tuition etc. Just be aware that Masters-level programs are rarely covered by Subsidized financial aid.
What that means is that when you complete your FAFSA in the US, many students are awarded money that they do not have to pay back (these are often called grants). These grants are very seldom available to people pursuing post-graduate degrees, so expect to be offered loan money and work out how you're going to pay for everything else (for example there are scholarships for folks who want to become STEM teacher or internal scholarships for folks who demonstrate strong academic progress once they're in their departments. I funded my MA via loans, getting merit fellowships and working part-time).
If you want more specific advice, I'm happy to help more, but these are probably some of the more important things to be aware of/get involved with if you're planning on grad school. Let me know if you want me to cover any additional issues!

I’ve got to say there’s something kind of depressing about only having 7 folks following my patreon just bc, like.... I put so much work into it! I have really cool posts every week! and cool longer posts every month! it’s really cool content that I really want to share and it’s, like. kind of depressing that only a handful of people are getting to even see that content! to the point where honestly I’m mildly tempted to make my patreon be “all content for paying patrons is early release that following patrons will get after a month” just to see if more people will follow me, but, like. mildly worried that even that won’t happen!
but, like. more than that it mostly solidly feels like my work isn’t valued?
like. I started publishing ifmlam in dec of 2015, which was kind of me re-entrance since high school into publishing things onto the general internet. ifmlam is 204233 words. that is two full-length novels. it was meticulously researched to the point where most end-of-chapter notes basically have a works cited, and needed to be meticulously researched because it was in a field that thoroughly was not my own I had not had a US history class since high school type deal. I worked on it during my last year and a half in college, in time that I could have spent studying for GREs, applying to grad school, and writing my thesis-- all things that certainly would not have been hurt from extra time spent. people left comments going “if this were a physical book I would buy it.” which, like!! mostly was just flattering!! it was a labor of love that I started out writing for myself and didn’t really expect anything to come from it! but it did kind of transform into a burden that I kept writing because it had a following, and, like. any future work that gets put into it is mildly coming from a sense of obligation to finish for the people who care about it, and it kind of makes it feel in hindsight like I was creating a product and it was a product put out there for free and the only thing that resulted is a lot of people who want more of that free product that is no longer a labor of love, it is meticulous research and meticulous writing and meticulous editing and time out of a graduate thesis and job applications and writing papers in my field and things that are so intrinsically more important than when I was writing it in college
and, like, I have boundaries, I’m only going to write when I have the time and inspiration to write, but gods has ifmlam turned into a burden and was a burden for a fair portion of the end there of writing it and it’s a mild bummer that it’s a burden that people do not care about throwing me $1 a month or, like. hell, people have bought me two ko-fis in the entire five years I have been writing. and I know I haven’t advertised a lot. and I know that mostly I haven’t needed the money. but, like.
I have published 387735 words on ao3 in the last five years, and certainly have more than 20k of drafts that, like. honestly should be ready to post in the next month or so. so, like, round up, that is more than four full novels length. and back when it was just fanfiction that I was working on, like, yeah it’s just fanfiction and that is not the sort of thing that I hell even would feel comfortable making money from. and I know nothing is published so people can’t see it now, but, like. my primary writing isn’t fanfiction anymore! it’s an actual proper full novel! draft 1 will be done and going out to betas in the next week or two! that I am going to be putting out there for free!. and my patreon really isn’t about “support me bc I’ve been writing fanfiction”, it’s a “hey you’ve seen my writing samples over the course of five years and wordcount of four novels so you trust that I’m a good writer, right? do you maybe want to hop on the bandwagon to try to support my original work too?”
I’ve run the costs from cover to ISBN to copyright filing to actually setting up a personal website to getting print drafts of the book and, like, esp given that I decided screw it I’ve been saving up for years I really want to commission one of my friends to make a professional cover, Opus I is going to cost me out-of-pocket more than $1000 to publish. and it’s being released for free. even if thousands of people read it, as I have set this up, I will not make a single penny from it. and that is okay, I knew that going in. but I definitely can’t afford to pay $1000 out of pocket to publish Opus II, or like. any of the dozens of books that I really do want to publish and have them look polished and professional going forward, that even cutting out cover art carry a price tag of ~$300 for me to do on my own.
and I guess I just...really hoped that there would be enough people either that went “yo your work is cool we trust you on this” to throw what comes out to $12/year, which, like. is the cost of a more expensive ebook if the goal is to be able to release about a book in the Opus series per year, or even just who are enough interested in the content that I have to put out that hey $1/month really is not a lot and the thought process behind my writing is interesting and valued.
and it feels like I’m being dumb and whining complaining in the first place and I’m stupidly lucky to have any sort of following at all or anyone willing to read even the fic I put out or comment on it, like. it’s super cool that my work is acknowledged and read period end! and honestly I think it’s mostly bothering me because, like. I am super self-conscious about “is anyone even going to bother to read Opus” and the fact that this thing that I set up to lay the foundations for and support my original writing only has seven people following and five of those people are close personal friends really does not bode well for feeling like there is any sort of interest in what else I can produce other than the fanfiction that I already have up, but, like
my patreon is cool!!! my content is cool!!! my book is going to be cool!!! and I just really wish there were more people seeing it!

The day has finally come! I’ve been wanting to share my experience applying to graduate school (for philosophy) for quite some time now. I thought the best way to do that would be to start with why I chose a MA Program over a PhD Program. While some things may be specific to philosophy, do know that there probably is some overlap with other areas in the humanities as well. Either way, you should confirm it with someone in your area rather than taking my words as the definite truth. (heads-up this is kind of a long post).
To give you some context, I attend a small, relatively unknown, liberal arts college in the south (of the United States). My college has one full time philosophy professor and two other people (one a language professor, the other is the provost) who occasionally teach philosophy classes but it is not their main area of specialization. In the history of my program, since it has been revived in the early 2000′s, only two other people have gone on to pursue philosophy beyond the undergraduate level.
I made the decision to apply to only MA programs based off the fact that
I lack a philosophical knowledge/foundation as well as experience with an environment full of people who take the discipline seriously (to the point of wanting it to become their career),
I recognize that even though I believe that I would like to be a philosophy professor, I have no experience teaching or really any experience with higher academia and what that sort of commitment really means. Being able to do a two year program versus the minimum of five years required from a PhD program gives me space to change my mind if I decide that philosophy isn't meant for me, but also still allow me to gain a master's degree.
Given the record from the only other two people who had applied to graduate school for philosophy, neither of them had been able to get into PhD programs straight from an undergraduate program, so I chose not to bother (which not going to lie, I kind of wish I applied to just one given my luck with MA program acceptances).
However, there are cons regarding MA programs over PhD Programs
Limited resources in comparison to PhD students - basically PhD students get a majority of the resources (faculty attention, funding, etc.) while MA students are generally pushed to the side at universities with both MA and PhD Programs. (I remember searching universities and some of them even explicitly say on their website that PhD students get priority, which wasn't really a vibe I was down for)
Having to go through the application process all over again (recommendation letters, taking the GRE, sample paper, transcript, application fees)
This was a personal con — The fact that I came from a small unknown school, with an even lesser known philosophy program and was only able to get one philosophy professor as one of my three recommendation letter writers (my other two were from music, my other major), which would not be a good idea for applying to PhD programs
So with those cons in mind, I decided to apply to only fully funded MA programs (x) If you want more information on MA programs and how they differ from PhD Programs, check out this article from PGR (philosophical gourmet report).
That’s a wrap for this post, but feel free to ask me questions. If you found this post to be helpful in anyway give it a like :) I think the next post I'll do for this series will talk about the application materials, but let me know if there's anything you want to hear about!
