Parental Jitters

At the hospital...

Yang: GRAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

???:  WAAAAAAAAA!!!  WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Doctor: Mr. Arc, Mrs. Xiao Long.  Congratulations, it’s a girl.

Jaune: A girl?!  It’s a girl!!  Yang, it’s a girl!!

Yang nods tiredly.  The nurse comes over with the baby swaddled in a blanket.  She hands it to Yang who looks hesitant.  Yang then tucks her hands under her armpits, surprising Jaune, the nurse and the doctor.

Nurse: Mrs. Xiao Long, don’t you want to see your daughter?

Yang: I...I’m good; I can see her from here.

Jaune (realizing what’s going on): Give me a second; I’ve got this.  (kneels next to Yang) Sunshine, what’s wrong?

Yang: N-Nothing’s wrong, I’m fine.

Jaune: Yang...

Yang: *sigh* Look, I get that I should be loving and caring about our daughter.  But now that she’s here, I don’t know if I’m ready.  I mean, I can’t cook, I can’t get laundry done right, that’s all you.  And what if I did something wrong?  What if I accidentally dropped her and hurt her?  What if I screw up her lunch?  What if-

Jaune (placing a hand on her cheek): Shhhhhhhhh, it’s okay.  Look, I get that Raven wasn’t the greatest mother in the world.  And I know that makes you nervous that you may not be a great mother.  But do you know who was there for you to teach you how to love like a mother?  Summer; it’s because of her that I know you’ll be a great mother for our daughter.

Yang still looks nervous about the whole situation.

Jaune: How about this?  Just hold her for a few minutes, she deserves to be held by her mother.  If you still feel uncomfortable, I can take over for you.

Yang: ......Okay.

The nurse hands Yang the baby.  Yang looks down at her daughter in her arms and all doubts and fears wash away and she smiles lovingly and sweetly.

Jaune (to the doctor and nurse): I think we’re good here.

The doctor and nurse nod and leave, giving the new parents some alone time with their daughter.  

Yang: *sigh* She ‘s so beautiful.’

Jaune:  She sure is.

Jaune and Yang kiss before their directing their attention back to their baby.  Suddenly, the doors fly open to reveal their friends and family.

Ruby: Where is it?  Where’s the baby?

Yang tilts her arm a bit so that everyone can see the baby.  Immediately, the rest of Team RWBY and Nora rush over and start coddling the baby.  Meanwhile, Ren, Tai, Jaune’s parents and a few others congratulate him about becoming a father.

Ruby: So what’s her name?

Yang is about to answer when Jaune whispers into her ear.  She smiles and nods in agreement.

Jaune: Everyone...meet Summer.
