Maandag 3 juni – Donut workshop van de Amsterdam Economic Board (AEB) waarin een diverse groep experts werkt aan een nieuwe agenda voor diezelfde board. De vier canvassen representeren vier toekomstscenario’s (European renewal, Global giants, International alliances and Local for local) en de canvassen worden gebruikt om in wisselende teams de impact en mogelijke interventies te verzamelen. Een leuke groep en een fijne productieve sessie. Zie ook eerdere posts over de scenario’s en EAB en de donut.

De ontwerper van de canvassen laat me nog weten dat ze online geen vector-bestanden van de donut heeft kunnen vinden en dat ze daar wel behoefte aan zou hebben (in Adobe Illustrator of EPS formaat graag). En ze gaf ook aan maar al te graag bereid te zijn haar bestanden, onder creative commons voorwaarde, online te zetten. Goed te weten in het kader van de samenwerking met Kate Raworth, aan een online platform voor Doughnut Economics.

The idea of possible futures is used as a tool to better understand the present and discuss the kind of future people want (or dont want). They usually take form of scenarios,often starting with a what-if question. They are intended ro open up spaces of debate and discussion; therefore they are by necessity provocative,intentionally simplified, and fictional. Their fictional nature requires viewers to suspend their disbelief and allow their imaginations to wander, to momentarily forget how things are now, and wonder about how things could be.

We have used a view described in the Tomorrow's transport starts today document by Netherlands study center for technology trends which says that: transportation is a complex societal domain because of the many relationships it has with a wide range of other facets of society. Therefore, in this STT foresight study, transportation is regarded as a function within society. They took two important facets of transportation: the number of passengers and the amount of freight that need to be transported, and the distance they need to travel. The future Dream Society will be the fifth techno-economic system in which humans have lived. The first - the Hunter-Gatherer Society - gave way to Agricultural Society about 10,000 years ago. Agricultural Society began yielding to a third system - Industrial Society - about 1750, when steam engines began appearing in England. About 1950, a fourth system - the Information Society - began to take shape, but it now appears that the Information Society will not last more than a few decades longer before yielding to a society focused on dreams, adventure, spirituality, and feelings.
