‘We have seen Jay pull off lucrative deals. It is the need of the hour at ICC’ | Cricket News
Jay Shah’s success in pulling off lucrative broadcast deals and organising major events was the prime reason for the BCCI secretary getting unanimous support in his bid to become the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) new Independent Chair. “The ICC board doesn’t want to waste too much time on internal politics. If you look at Jay’s leadership at the BCCI, it has been wonderful. He has hosted…

Dhoni retires | 'End of an era': BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on the retirement of 'Leader' MS Dhoni | ViralHai News [ad_1]
Tumblr media
As MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket, Sourav Ganguly, former captain of Team India and Chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), praised Dhoni's brilliant innings, calling it the end of an era.
He said, "This is the end of an era. He has been a player for country and world cricket. His leadership qualities are something that will be tough for the match, especially in the shorter format of the game. His batting is in one - Ganguly said in an official release issued by the BCCI, 'Cricket in its early stages made the world stand and saw their nature and sheer sparkle.
He said, "He set the standards for wicketkeepers to come and build an identity for the country. He will finish on the field without any order. A brilliant career; I want him to do the best in life."
On Saturday (August 15) on Instagram, wicket-keeper-batsman Dhoni shared a video and captioned the post, "Thank you very much for your love and support. I have been considered retired since 1929".
The video featured Amitabh Bachchan's iconic song 'My Pal Do Pal's Shire Who' played against the backdrop of 'Kabhi Kabhi' and featured Dhoni sharing his incredible journey in the Indian team, including his run in the last match against New Zealand. Getting out was also included. In the semi-finals of the World Cup 2019.
Minutes after Dhoni's retirement, Suresh Raina also announced that he was retiring from international cricket.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah termed Dhoni's retirement decision as "personal".
"MS Dhoni is one of the great players of the modern era. I think it is a personal decision and we respect it. 'Mahi' as we are all with him has had an extraordinary career in international cricket. His The captaincy has been both inspiring. Jai Shah said in an official release, "He has been leaving the game since the time he joined it. I wish him all the best for the IPL and his future endeavors. "
Dhoni, a resident of Ranchi, who made his ODI debut in 2004, changed the face of Indian cricket with his calm performance, sharp grasp of the game and leadership qualities.
He is among the most successful captains of world cricket. It was under his leadership that India lifted the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011 after leading India to victory in the ICC World T20 in their first edition of the tournament held in South Africa in 2007.
With India winning the ICC Champions Trophy in England in 2013, Dhoni became the first and is still the only captain to win all three ICC Trophies.
While his heroism in the limited overs format is well documented, it was also under his leadership that India became the number one Test team in 2009 and the team topped for 600 days. He led India to victory in 21 home Test matches, which was done by an Indian captain.
Leaving behind a rich legacy that will be difficult to replicate, Dhoni holds the record for most international matches as captain (332).
Unknowingly the fastest behind the wicket, Dhoni has 195 international stumpings, the most by any wicket-keeper.
Dhoni played 350 ODIs against Sri Lanka with his highest score being 183. Also referred to as 'Captain Cool', Dhoni is known for his calmness and exquisite captaincy on the field.
He was also known for his habit of opting for reviews and many people made funny comments to change the name of 'decision-review system' to 'Dhoni-review system'.
In December 2014, he announced his retirement from the Test and offered an opportunity to the likes of Wriddhiman Saha. Dhoni scored 4,876 runs after playing 90 Tests at an average of 38.09. Then in 2017, he handed over the captaincy to Virat Kohli in the 50-over format.
Dhoni was set to return to the cricket ground on 29 March during the inaugural IPL match between CSK and Mumbai Indians. However, the tournament will now be played in the UAE from 19 September to 10 November.
He will continue to captain CSK in the IPL 2020.
