#Fushimi probably ends up saying it somehow eventually

To me this is peak fem!sarumi and I can't elaborate any further.
Okay but imagine this during the betrayal years and it’s not like they want to dress the same it just….keeps happening. Like Yata goes out shopping and she’s not really that into clothes because she’s kind of a tomboy but also she’s kinda secretly into the power of a cute outfit (though maybe she wears shorts under all her dresses because that’s safer for skateboarding). She’s idly skateboarding through the city when someone knocks her off her board by throwing a knife at her, immediately Yata sits up all ‘Saruhiko!’. And there’s Saruhiko standing in front of her, twirling a knife, on a day off and also wearing the exact same outfit Yata is (but instead of shorts under her skirt she’s wearing knives). There’s a pause and then Yata gets a look like what the fuck did you break into my place and raid my closet, Fushimi rolls her eyes like even if I wanted to be in your closet (insert ‘Fushimi and Yata need to come out of the closet’ joke here) you’re wearing the same outfit right now, do you have multiples. Yata huffs at that and is like well it’s creepy that you’re copying me, Fushimi clicks her tongue and says isn’t Yata the one copying her.
Eventually once they make up and start dating I just imagine them wandering around on days off in mostly matching outfits, like I imagine Fushimi’s being slightly more feminine and she’s probably wearing more accessories (Fushimi does love a good accessory) but otherwise they have a whole matchy thing going on. Once again it is usually not on purpose though, Yata will get dressed before Fushimi’s even out of bed but then she goes for a run while Fushimi’s getting dressed and somehow they end up in the same outfit. Also I just imagine them hanging out in like bars and stuff in matching clothes and when guys try to be gross to them the two of them have joint withering looks, Fushimi clicks her tongue and Yata glares and they look weirdly alike to the point it’s a bit offputting.
(Also I would like to submit for approval one of my favorite vintage pattern covers, please imagine Yata in the middle trying to choose between Homra Fushimi in the skirt and S4 Fushimi in the pants).
#sarumi#Talking K#I feel like they wouldn't dress exactly though#like Yata's outfits are slightly more tomboyish and she has shorts on under her dresses#while Fushimi's are sometimes more feminine or even more revealing bc it makes getting the knives easier

February 6, 2021
February 8th is the 3rd anniversary of Nijisanji, and to celebrate I want to give you a quip about every single extant member of Nijisanji... since there are over 130, that’s including ID, IN, and KR... but not VirtuaReal, because they are not on Youtube and also.... China... it’s split into three parts. Part 1 covers everything up to the merger that happened on the beginning of 2019.
First Wave
Tsukino Mito - The iinchou. One of the original seiso gone wrong. Mito is something else, a term I used for Haato, but Mito’s degeneracy feels very different. Mito is much more cynical, definitely likes gore like Korone, and definitely one who calculates things. Haato is just beginning to figure out how to play out her degeneracy, to great effect, but Mito knew the future. In that sense, she fits the Student Representative nature.
Remember that Mito is kind of like Sora in Hololive. This comes as the major source tension, for Hololive, it’s the tension of being an idol and being oneself. Here, it’s more like how to best express oneself within the limitation of the medium. It seems similar, but the feeling is quite different, and that’s what makes Nijisanji so different from Hololive.
Higuchi Kaede - I heard she plays the trumpet. Hmm, that’s all you need to know about this person. If you were in band, you know the instrument determines your personality. Trumpet people are outgoing, brash, but ultimately a nice group of people. The girls, in particular, have a cool side to them, even if they present feminine. They are going to be good friends, with no worries of love blossoming. Usually referred to as Deron, which roughly translates to a slobbering napper... and part of JK Gumi with Mito and Rin.
Shizuka Rin - The functional leader of the group. She’s the competent one, pretty good at gaming, pretty good at hosting, good at being both boke and tsukkomi, also good at drawing apparently. Also good at language as well.
Yuki Chihiro - A soft spoken loli who plays a lot of shooters, and is pretty good at them. Also quite pervy at times. So, just your typical salty gamer, who happens to be a magical girl, apparently... so in another word, a brat.
Elu - Full name, Snow White Paradise El Santo Flow Wasurena Pure Princess Livre Love Heidern Dokodoko Yattaze Valkyria Passion Alfr Noel Chakoboshi Eluaria Frosia Made-in Bloom Elu. Shares the illustrator with Hal Shibuya, Toya, Sister Claire and so on. Started out as a talk streamer, known for her wide range of voice, she shifted to playing Minecraft as you usually do. A bit lacking at top, but tries her best.
Shibuya Hajime - Not to be confused with Shibuya Hal, who was affiliated with upd8. One of the more proficient players in Nijisanji, from his start as pro Getting Over It player, to giving tech advice, and eventually establishing himself as a pro PUBG and Apex player. Apparently did some odd tweets that got him under fire, but he’s better now, apparently. Probably why he did so good at the imagination tournament.
Moira - A goddess, you know with ara ara and everything. Apparently seems to have her head above her clouds... which makes sense considering she’s a goddess.
Suzuya Aki - We have a cross-dresser, everyone. According to TVTropes, he’s affably evil, you know the type. Apparently the most normal of the first wave... and as you have might have guessed Toya really likes this kid. It figures.
Second Wave
Morinaka Kazaki - Another loli character, but has an adult form. Formed a duo with Gibara for some goddamn reason... childhood friends with Emma August, and strangely seen as mother-like, although she looks ten half the time. It’s odd.
Mononobe Alice - Not a loli, despite the appearance... and some of her acts. Has a decent grasp in English, which is really pretty cool. Not much other than that.
Suzuka Utako - The shotacon of the group, and just the most perverted person. Usually has a deep voice, but actually has a pretty wide range, and therefore a really good singer. First Nijisanji member to get banned, apparently.
Fumiko Tamaki - Very much Nijisanji’s own Okayu, including the bad live streaming environment, and having a cat of her own, who is just the most bad of kitties... but even more like a cat in how her schedule is what she feels like... apparently got 250 grand by sleeping. Well, sleeping cat is a staple. Also has a tendency to get her jaw taken out... you know those people. As you might garner, very clueless with technology.
Yuhi Riri - She’s from the future... She has a nice boyish voice, but usually is the butt of the joke due to her lore, so no one comments about it. She seems nice.
Ienaga Mugi - Shares the illustrator with Rin, a shut-in who loves video games and her onii-chan, one of the few who actually grows in age. Pretty good musician, likes to flirt with Riri... which is interesting. Had her identity revealed at school... yikes.
Ushimi Ichigo - She’s a strawberry milk sea slug, which is just the coolest thing. Has a father-daughter relationship with Belmond, and good at drawing. Got some cool advice from Matsuri... which actually, uh, isn’t really a good idea, isn’t it?
Kenmochi Toya - Speaking of not being a good idea to be next to lolis... many people point to the double standard about female vtubers being creepy as kind of a quirk, compared to men, who would go straight to jail... and I point to Kenmochi Toya.
He’s a good host, strangely like Matsuri or Marine, apparently the son of Mito, which Mito likes but Toya doesn’t... go figure. Has that v-line chin that is parodied a lot, and likes to rap... which also feels like a Marine thing. Sorry... he’s pretty good on his own.
Fushimi Gaku - Cheerful man who does a morning show and plays horror games. Kind of plays the father figure for the second wave... but also has a dark side, which makes sense considering the children above. Also fit with the horror games above.
Gilzaren III - Rarely streams, but hangs around in the chat a lot, like he’s some kind of an official lurker of Nijisanji. Also speaks with a pretty high tone, which doesn’t quite fit, although this might be a ruse... it’s unsure.
Nijisanji Gamers
Kanae - Kind of have his head in the clouds, which fits the lore of having amnesia. Kind of the leader of the Gamers, and one of the best at gaming. Does long streams and everything, likes PUBG but venturing to Apex and the likes. Good at Minecraft, too. Usually works with Kuzuha, leading to that famous clip... such a good classic.
Overall, a really solid streamer and personality in general. A real gem for the crew.
Akabane Youko - Rarely streams, but she is good at gaming. Has a wild laugh and so people still like her... huh, in some sense she’s the female Gilzaren.
Himawari Honma - Gamers 2nd Generation is an absolute goldmine. There were three, one of them retired, but you still know her (wink wink), and all three are just fantastic. Probably the best is Hima... one of those empty-head people that is really good at gaming... you know, Aqua, but somehow better, least to me.
Like Aqua, she's a pretty good singer and she likes vocaloids. But Hima-chan is like a sunflower while Aqua is an... onion. I mean onion could be sweet, but it always gives off a bad taste at the end, while a sunflower is a pure delight. Just look at her, her emptiness is a light, while Aqua’s emptiness is dark. (You can tell my bias here.)
I never like the dumb sterotypes, but Hima is so warm and comforting in her emptiness that you cannot help but smile at the airhead. She’s just such a good vtuber.
Sasaki Saku - She’s the hot-headed of the three, well two. She picks fights with everyone, including people like Belmond or Yashiro, and they fight back because she’s just an entertaining fighter. She’s entertaining, period.
Kuzuha - Probably one of more well-known male Nijisanji members. Went on the Suisei route, as in, he was independent before joining Nijisanji. Plays FPS with Kanae as mentioned before. Pretty good player, but better at banter. Kind of a mischievous person who is actually quite shy... a little of Pekora in the person, except Kuzuha is more annoying than truly like a villain that is Pekora.
One of the people who says cannot sing, but can actually sing very well. Just overall, a great talent to have and just fun to watch, especially in collabs.
Shiina Yuika - Likes Nintendo, and also does a radio show on YouTube. Actually did a radio show as well once. One of the brutally honest people, and a trouble-maker.
As you kind of expect, Sasaki Saku was the one who really got her into the groove, and during her what-turned out to be an absence, Shiina did feel a bit down. Likes to sleep, which makes sense in the context. Not the best at gaming, but still a fun player.
Aqua really likes her, which is interesting since she shares the illustrator with Okayu, and therefore the two are close friends... and they would go after the poor onion.
Makaino Ririmu - Supposedly a succubus. Definitely headstrong and kind of a loli, so there’s a pretty wide fanbase for her... but she’s honestly a good-hearted person. Just look at her collabs with Kou or Lize... she did calculus for a stream?
SEED 1st Gen
Ryushen - Real name, Sengawa Midori. Singer of uncertain gender, so I’ll use ‘they’. Known to be the planner, and a good one at that. Friends with Sister Claire, and their junior, Kakeru and Hayato. Is part of the group, ‘Rain Drops’ with five other members. Originally stated to be part of VOIZ, a male pop group, but as stated... ‘they’.
As for personality, they are a cool kid, friendly with others. Not a bad person to watch.
Hanabatake Chaika - Muscular Okama Elf who wears a maid dress. Very cool personality, a rough and tumble kind of person. As with the description earlier, the concept is odd, but the person is odd in a more palatable way. Honestly, one of people I would try to seek to watch in Nijisanji. Apparently the cross-dressing thing was enforced, rather than a personal choice. Got turned into a robot once.
As for an example, his 3D debut was actually months after he has gotten them and actually used them in collabs and TV interviews, so Chaika skipped right to the shenanigans instead. Perhaps this spontaneity is what makes Nijisanji 3D better.
Yashiro Kizuku - Concept is a systems engineer, likes rhythm and retro games. Friendly with a lot of people, especially with Sasaki Saku, which they host a gaming show. It’s really fun! They are a good bickering couple. The show is kind of a good gateway for Nijisanji as a whole, I believe. Oh, right the intellectual test with Hima...
Yeah, the blandest concept, but one of the most likable members in Nijisanji.
Dola - She’s a fire dragon. Act as an elder to the SEED group, kind of an admin at the minecraft server, so she’s treated like a god here. Good singer, great dancer.
She’s in a group with Yashiro, Hima, and Kuzuha, where the concept is that they are a family, with Dola and Yashiro being parents, and Hima and Kuzuha being their children, and they are one of the best groups to come out of Nijisanji. You can’t miss them.
Sister Claire - Usually does really short talk streams, which was reformatted to a radio format. One of the last seiso people, but strangely gets along with many of the members, mostly because she wants to be funny, and honestly... succeeds for me.
Also a great singer... who would have guessed? Sometimes treated as a cult leader.
Todoroki Kyoko - A 19 year old gyaru. Self proclaimed normie, but obviously not the case anymore. Great at drawing, but only in 2D. As with gyarus, really nice!
Suzuki Masaru - A chunni cross-dresser. Wants to be cool, but obviously cute. Actually doesn’t really like cross-dressing, but it does get the views. Honestly, he looks cool.
Uzuki Kou - A rich teenage boy, well liked by other people. Great singer but doesn’t show often... he does have a rap about hot pot ingredients that is well-covered by others. Friends with Ririmu, I believe. He’s a nice person to watch.
Azuchi Momo - A 14-year old illustrator who did her own design, and one of the most dangerous members of Nijisanji. Yep, known for her curses and drinking cocktails... and yes, she’s supposed to be 14. But even she recognizes that she’s an adult woman...
SEED 2nd Gen
Takamiya Rion - A student at a magic school. Supposed to be a lass, but in reality becomes like that sketch where two beautiful women are dubbed by kids? Yeah, she becomes like that. Just the least intelligent person... good for moron-sexuals, I guess.
Apparently this is more a debuff, as she can act smart and lady-like in late night streams. She was the one who hosted the imagination event. Also really likes SAO, and therefore fell into Genshin pretty hard last year, and who can blame her?
Asuka Hina - Is sometimes called a succubus, kind of works a producer and did a special producing session as a result. Can be calm and outgoing at once.
Maimoto Keisuke - Originally a farmer, but got tired of it. Does gaming and sport commentary, usually wrestling or baseball. Became someone who always gets tortured by his female peers... strange but not a bad character. Oh, this harassment leads to a lot of anger and there’s a tradition where they burn people virtually... and he always gets lumped in as a person to be burned. Friends with Subaru and Ui, and forms the Oozora family, believes to be a middle-aged man, but others don’t treat him like that.
Amemori Sayo - Typical high school student, but we’re sure she’s a ghost. Does a lot of special effects, leading to tech problems. Kind of a quiet speaker.
Kanda Shoichi - typical college student, has a buddy relationship with Gundou Mirei. Good at gaming, singing and hosting, which means he got his due even though it was a little late. Doesn’t really like Korea, though, which is a problem.
Rindou Mikoto - An oni queen, likes girls and booze. Can hold down a liquor, and hold down a girl... a quick learner in everything, therefore excellent at everything.
I knew her as Marine’s coach at Mario Kart... and now I know the reason.
Joe Rikiichi - He’s a joker, a real comedian. Good at improv. Pretty poor. Does late-night radio with Maimoto as well. He’s always a fun person to watch.
Debidebi Debiru - Demon koala who dabble in the occult. He’s the kid in the family, with all the stubbornness and gumption included. Likes to make nicknames, good in collabs. And as with kids, ultimately a good person at heart, which is why he does collabs.
Probably one of my favorites... I’m kind of miffed his section is so short, honestly.
Sakura Ritsuki - A fairy from another world. Basically only plays minecraft as the resident builder in the area. Got a new outfit, and suddenly got a ship going on with Kuzuha, which is good for her, I guess. Yeah, she does what she does.
Machita Chima - A great singer and bit of a psychopath. Went dark to study for exams, but soon returned to herself. Kind of a younger Suisei is what I’m getting at.
Belmond Banderas - The Corpse of Nijisanji. Low voice, and very kind to everyone. But he can be funny too. If he’s drunk, he’s just your average guy who agrees on everything. Also incredibly lucky, apparently, enough to make a religion with Lize as worshipper.
Yumeoi Kakeru - Singer-songwriter who got calling as a host. Really likes Ryushen to a psychopathic degree, but they are good friends as well. Seriously, he’s one of those well-adjusted psychopaths. Apparently he was a biochemist before singing. Sara calls him papa... which, okay, I guess. Did some shady stuff like catfishing in the past...
Overall, he’s that person who came from a rough background, and that means there’s some edges and some of his strength. Definitely an important asset.
Kuroi Shiba - She’s a four year old dog, but acts like an old lady and eventually earned the suffering characteristic and works at a shady company. But what’s the most fascinating thing is her deep lore. Seriously, it might be one of the most interesting lore before Haachama/Haato became a thing.
Yaguruma Rine - A eleven-year old girl who says the first thing on her mind. Also went dark during exam season, but returned after the summer exams. Practices English a bit during her streams, so there’s that going for her. Also her phone disappeared for a bit.
Harusaki Air - Air here meaning ‘spring’ in Greek. Kind of interpreted as a cleaner version of Toya. He’s a prince, so he’s usually busy... unlike a certain princess.
Naruse Naru - Remember has a different look! Although now he can switch it back and forth... apparently it was management issues? Whatever, won the current mario kart tournament (Mikoto was second) and that’s pretty much it, honestly.

(Fanfic) Inconsequential
Title: Inconsequential
Rating: R18
Description: Since they’d started their new contract, Fushimi had gotten used to his arguments with Yata resolving quickly and easily. The latest one was lasting longer than usual, though, and he wasn’t sure what had changed.
Note: This is set after my longer fanfic, Set in Stone, which is an AU. You’re going to be confused if you haven’t read that one before jumping in here.
Crossposts: AO3, FFNET, my website. Links are here.
Happy Sarumi Day!
It started with coffee.
More often than not, Fushimi had noticed, their squabbles were over something petty like this. When it happened, generally there was a build-up of irritation on either his side or Misaki’s – or both – and it came out over a small matter. Usually it ended within minutes: a sharp outburst, a small period of reflection and then wordless apologies. It helped to feel one another’s emotions when saying those kinds of things out loud was too difficult; that was the major advantage with their contract. As a result, those moments of friction in their relationship were almost always mercifully short-lived.
This time, it seemed to be one of the rare exceptions: despite being the usual petty nonsense, the argument did not resolve quickly.
“Fushimi.” Awashima’s crisp voice cut into that thought; when he looked up from his phone – which he’d brought up to occupy himself while waiting for the train and then gotten lost in his thoughts instead of paying attention to it – she was approaching him, a small sack in her hands. “Could you bring this with you for Yata? He left it behind the other day.”
Fushimi clicked his tongue, more out of reflex than real annoyance. “Is it really that much of a hassle to hold onto it for one night?” Despite the words, he reached out to take the bag from her. “He could just get it when he comes in tomorrow.”
She raised an eyebrow in return. “He requested the day off tomorrow. You didn’t know?”
Now that was irritating. “Obviously not, since you had to tell me.” He turned his eyes deliberately back to his phone, avoiding that pointed gaze. It’s not your business. “Is that all?”
Not her business that what should have been a small argument over an empty coffee bin had not resolved by the end of a single day, and bled into the next. Not her business that he could feel the faint echo of blended frustration and hurt from Misaki’s side of their bond, punctuated at random by emotional reactions to the events of the day. Not her business that Misaki had spent the night at his mother’s house, without explanation and seemingly out of nowhere. And especially not her business that they hadn’t spoken since the morning of the supposedly trivial argument they’d had.
He didn’t know why this particular argument had triggered such an extreme scenario, and it was beyond irritating. Why did relationships have to be so needlessly complicated and nonsensical?
Awashima let out a short sigh, sounding vaguely exasperated. “That’s all.” She turned smartly on her heel, glancing back over her shoulder only long enough to add, “Take care going home,” before heading back out in the direction she’d come.
Fushimi frowned after her for a brief moment, and then clicked his tongue again.
It was still hard to deal with sometimes, having people who legitimately cared about his well-being. He didn’t know how to react.
Well, it doesn’t matter. Awashima, of all people, was smart enough to read between the lines.
For all the talk of him being an idiot who needed things spelled out, usually Misaki could too. When it mattered most, at least. It had spared Fushimi a few times, though he was gradually coming to terms with having to initiate difficult conversations when necessary. The relationship they’d carved out for themselves was not always easy to maintain.
Worth the effort, though. In the months since he’d moved permanently into Misaki’s place, Fushimi had become more and more certain of that.
Which was probably the only reason he had been able to cage and control the dread that crept instinctively into his heart and fluttered about in a panic at the extension of the unresolved argument. He was fairly sure that Misaki couldn’t feel it, not at this distance.
If Misaki could feel it, and still avoided him…
Fushimi squashed that doubt ruthlessly, clicking his tongue again. It didn’t bear thinking about – that response went against everything he knew of Misaki’s nature. And his knowledge on that particular subject was extensive, despite the current thinning of their bond through the distance between them.
When they were apart, the vivid spectrum of emotion that typically flowed into his head from Misaki’s end was faint, a poor echo of the flood that had overwhelmed and eventually captivated him when they had initially been forced together. It was a blessing in some ways – he had to focus on work, and the emotions that Misaki lived with on a day to day basis were incredibly distracting to Fushimi, who was used to compartmentalizing his feelings in order to get through life with a minimum of unpleasantness. But ultimately, he preferred when they were together and he could drown in the pleasant chaos of Misaki’s heart and soul.
Even just thinking of gazing into Misaki’s eyes and seeing the warmth of his affection on display in perfectly harmony with the emotion that radiated through their bond could send a little shudder of anticipation through him. Not sexual – though that was simple enough to conjure too, imagining the heat of Misaki’s reactions and the soft but firm sensation of his flesh under Fushimi’s fingers – but rather… something deeper and more basic. It triggered a reciprocal reaction within him.
He hadn’t really known that he was capable of such vast and fervent care for another person. It was terrifying in a number of ways, but it wasn’t something he could be persuaded to give up.
That’s why I’m planning these annoying things. Fushimi clicked his tongue again, hefting the sack in his left hand just enough that he could tilt his fingers to see the light reflect off of the rich orange of his ring. Even just looking at it was enough to settle those unpleasant feelings of uncertainty and discomfort. It was a material proof of everything that had been built between them, and a physical reminder that their commitment was unbroken. Even if he couldn’t understand the reason for the persistent ache in Misaki’s heart, the fact remained that he could still feel it. Misaki wasn’t shutting him out.
In his coat pocket, the small bundle of coffee beans he’d negotiated for earlier that day seemed to sit heavily.
Whatever the unknown significance behind his using up the last of the previous batch was, he hoped this peace offering would be enough to counter it. Or, at the very least, get Misaki talking to him again. Regardless of how often he’d complained about how loud his partner could be, the current silence really was unbearable.
Just to be sure, he checked his messages again. The last received text from Misaki was still the brief note from the previous day stating that he’d be at his mother’s house overnight.
The train pulled into the station at that point, and Fushimi stowed his phone and Misaki’s forgotten bag to join the flow of traffic filtering up to the doors.
With luck, Misaki would already be at home when he got there, and they could resolve this quickly.
The apartment was empty.
Even before he’d made it up the front walkway, Fushimi knew that Misaki wouldn’t be there. The flow of emotional backlash in his head was still a faint echo, telling him that they were nowhere near each other and not steadily getting closer as he would’ve expected. Once again, as he hesitated at the foot of the stairway leading up to their floor, he felt that unpleasant blend of uncertainty and dread rise up like bile at the back of his throat, and once again he ruthlessly forced it back down.
It’s not like it’s unusual for him to be out, is it? Misaki was frequently out with his friends, which Fushimi had come to appreciate. He was more accustomed to solitude and as much as he enjoyed being with Misaki, it was nice to have some moments to himself here and there as well. There was never any question that Misaki was coming home to him in the end, as evidenced by the enthusiastic cheer that was always present at the back of his head during such times.
And of course there were the times when Misaki blundered back into the apartment, full of boisterous energy, and Fushimi couldn’t quite resist the urge to move in close and direct that energy… elsewhere.
Somehow, with the echo of frustration and hollow unhappiness still lingering in that place where Misaki’s emotions bled into his, this didn’t feel at all like one of those times.
Fushimi clicked his tongue at that thought, with more worry and less irritation than he would’ve preferred, and made his way up the stairs to unlock the apartment door. As expected, it was dark and silent inside, with no sign that Misaki had even been home at all that day. A glance at his phone showed no new messages. Seriously, where is he?
He could always ask, of course. Fushimi even went as far as to type the question into the message box, before grimacing to himself and exiting the app. The impression of a nagging housewife demanding to know her husband’s every movement gave him an unpleasant feeling that he couldn’t seem to shake.
Granted, Misaki had no problems asking him where he was when the situation called for it, and he didn’t exactly mind. But still… showing concern like that - exposing that worry…
It was a little too much right then.
Rather than dwell on it, Fushimi opened his scheduling app instead. It was more to give himself something to focus on than because he thought he had overlooked anything - his memory rarely failed him, and even in the unlikely event that it did, he had reminders enabled. The visual details in the app itself confirmed that everything was in order, which put him at a loss of what course of action to take, yet again.
Why was this all so needlessly complicated and perplexing?
There was an additional event showing on the previous day, though - one without a reminder and with no color indicating priority, which meant it had been added in case a conflict arose rather than as something he needed to take particular note of. It was labeled with ‘Yata anniversary’.
Right. Misaki’s mother’s wedding anniversary. That would explain why he hadn’t given it much thought or had it come to mind immediately; it had seemed inconsequential at the time, so he’d filed it in his own head much like he had in his phone, as something not worth paying much attention to. After all, he would not have been attending and Misaki being out wouldn’t be unusual.
And then the fight had happened, and it had thrown him off. Of course.
The relief that came with the discovery was palpable. Fushimi let out a breath, lowering his phone, and then allowed himself a rueful little smile. What a ridiculous situation. There was nothing unusual about Misaki spending the night at his mother’s after - likely - celebrating late into the night. It didn’t relate to their argument at all; the two events had just happened to coincide.
Still, he couldn’t shake the unease that had plagued him. It wasn’t just the actions Misaki had taken; with the way their bond worked, it could never come down to just that.
The persistent sense of an emotional ache at the back of his head had lingered since yesterday.
Unbidden, a sharp memory of Misaki’s voice came to him, unusually subdued, “they’re a real family, all of them related and everything.” It wasn’t exactly bitterness in his voice; more like a kind of longing, or regret. “All of them normal.”
Ah. Right - that.
The realization was enough to line up the rest of the pieces in this puzzle he’d been trying to sort out in his head. Fushimi turned into the kitchen to retrieve the jar where Misaki kept his invisibility powder.
He was fairly certain he knew where to go now.
Most of the time, Fushimi was indifferent to the temperature outside. It didn’t really impact him as someone who wasn’t a natural resident of this realm, so he didn’t feel the need to pay much attention to it. He made a point of wearing jackets as it started to get colder so that he didn’t stand out, but that was it. So the fact that it was late November and there was already a chill in the air even before he flew up above the city shouldn’t have been particularly worrying.
Misaki, however, was affected by temperature. And there was no telling how long he’d been up there by that point.
Even in mid-flight, Fushimi found himself clicking his tongue. Not like he can’t handle himself. There was no real reason to worry, and yet…
Well. It was another of those annoying ‘relationship’ things.
At least he didn’t have to wonder where Misaki had gone. The familiar domed glass roof of the skyscraper wasn’t even in sight when the rush of emotions started to intensify and he knew he was getting close. As he drew close enough to land next to the hunched figure sitting on the beam, he could feel frustration so deep that it settled in his own belly and rose up at the back of his throat like an old ache.
Fushimi clicked his tongue as Misaki turned his head up, their eyes meeting without trouble in the tiny amount of moonlight that peeked through the clouds to dimly illuminate them. “I thought you might be here.” Since Misaki had already retracted his wings in order to put on a sweater, Fushimi did the same, dropping down to sit beside him and raising an eyebrow in silent question.
Misaki offered him a rueful smile in return, tiny threads of resignation and something like gratification weaving through the thick funk he’d worked himself into. “Yeah, well, y’know.” He reached up to rub at the back of his neck. “Had some stuff on my mind.”
“Hm.” There was no trace of anger or resentment towards him, so this really did have nothing to do with their fight. Oddly, Fushimi didn’t feel particularly comforted by that. When Misaki’s mood was subdued or low, it was always concerning. Not because his emotions weren’t as strong as ever, bursting through even in the ‘off’ moments, but because it felt wrong.
When Misaki was being fully himself, the world was in order. Fushimi couldn’t help but selfishly hoard those moments, taking pleasure from Misaki’s unrestrained side. But knowing how free and bright he felt in those moments, it seemed doubly as devastating when he squashed himself down like he was at that point.
You shouldn’t have to feel like this. Anyone who didn’t appreciate Misaki at his most natural was a fool, in Fushimi’s opinion. He couldn’t see any benefit to repressing that brilliance. Even when something about Misaki’s boisterous behavior annoyed him, he wouldn’t have changed it for the world.
He could see the change in the dim light of Misaki’s eyes as those emotions flowed through to him - at the same moment as something warm and thankful started to overpower the frustration seeping through the back of his own head. The tiny smile that he’d been offered widened into something much more content. “Ah, yeah, I get it - you don’t have to say it.” Misaki let out a long sigh, as if releasing a load of tension, and leaned sideways to bump his shoulder against Fushimi’s. “But thanks.”
Even after all this time, gratitude still made him feel mildly uncomfortable. Fushimi managed a small shrug, reaching up to adjust his glasses without thinking. “I didn’t really do anything.”
Misaki laughed, amusement accompanying the sound, and his smile split into a grin. “Yeah, yeah. You still suck at this stuff, huh?”
Fushimi clicked his tongue at that, frowning as he turned his gaze aside. “Don’t say it like you didn’t already know.”
“Heh.” Misaki shifted so they were closer, pressing against his side with easy familiarity and dropping his head sideways against Fushimi’s shoulder. “It’s part of what I like about you, Saru.”
The sincerity and affection that came with the simple statement had him closing his eyes in instinctive reaction, allowing himself a moment to indulge fully in those pleasant emotions. “Mm,” he responded noncommittally, and let his own head tilt to rest on top of Misaki’s. The roughly cut strands tickled his cheek, but he didn’t mind it.
He could have sat out here for hours like this, just him and Misaki in their own little world. But there were other things to consider, too. After a short while, as Misaki started to shift a bit with restless energy, Fushimi lifted his head again, adjusting his position so that he could reach into the pockets of his jacket.
“Here.” He started by handing over the sack that Awashima had pressed on him earlier. “Apparently you forgot this at the Captain’s office.”
“Oh shit, I did!” Misaki took it from him, shaking his head as his grin turned rueful again. Despite the reminder, his spirits seemed higher. “Guess I was pretty distracted today, huh?” Without waiting for an answer, he added, “Well, thanks for bringing it! Would’ve sucked to have to go get it tomorrow since - ” He stopped there, eyes widening a little as he caught himself. “... ah.”
“Since you have the day off?” Fushimi finished for him dryly. He raised an eyebrow when Misaki shot him a guilty look, chagrin overpowering the bond between them. “Were you planning on telling me any time soon?”
“Of course I was! Obviously!” The indignation in Misaki’s tone matched his feelings perfectly - as usual. He scowled. “It was supposed to be a surprise - you’re off in the morning, right? I thought we could, y’know, spend some time together.” One of his hands came up to rub against the back of his neck, a mild undertone of embarrassment coloring his emotions. “Or something like that.”
That shouldn’t have been unexpected - it was very like Misaki - but somehow, Fushimi found himself taken off-guard. He blinked, attempting to collect himself.
Misaki didn’t wait for a response, tearing ahead forcefully as usual. “I mean, I was gone overnight and the last time we fucking talked, we had that stupid fight - fuck, that was so dumb.” He shook his head, letting out a soft ‘ch’ under his breath as his lips twisted further into the scowl. There was an edge of that familiar frustration from the past two days seeping through from his end again. “I wouldn’t have cared you took the last of the coffee - not like I can’t just get more, right? But I was thinking too much about some shit, and I just - ” He made an agitated noise, abandoning the rest of that sentence. “Whatever, anyway… I went and got more.” Hastily, he pulled open the sack and retrieved a familiar bag of coffee beans, looking up to meet Fushimi’s gaze again. His eyes were flashing in the moonlight, stubbornness and determination writ on his expression and echoed through their bond. “Figured I’d make it for us both tomorrow and we could hang out for a bit. Yeah?”
Misaki… Dimly, Fushimi thought he should be able to predict and control this. It happened all the time, after all. But he could never be properly prepared, somehow. So once again, here he was - stunned and captivated by that expressive presence that had bulldozed into his life and settled comfortably at the center of it. He wanted to shut his eyes and will away the furious pounding of his heart, but looking away from that straightforward gaze felt almost unbearable. So he settled for drawing in a breath, gathering his thoughts, and weakly clicking his tongue before reaching into his pocket for his own peace offering.
We were thinking the same thing, huh?
“Here.” He held up the second bag of coffee beans, satisfied with the slight widening of Misaki’s eyes and the surprise filtering through to him as he did. “Now we have more than enough, I guess.”
Misaki blinked a few times in rapid succession as that sunk in, and then abruptly let out a sharp bark of a laugh. “Are you kidding me? What the hell?” The grin that settled on his face was wide and bright, eyes sparkling with the same amusement that outlined his feelings as he reached out to take the second bag. “How’d you even get this, anyway? Didn’t know you had anything to trade for it.”
Fushimi clicked his tongue again, vaguely irritated by the reminder. “I didn’t. The Captain does, though.”
“Damn.” Misaki grimaced with open sympathy. They both knew all too well what making that kind of deal involved. “What kinda shitty jobs did you do?”
At that, he did close his eyes, letting out his breath in an aggrieved huff. “Don’t ask.”
“Right, yeah. I can guess anyway.” When he opened his eyes, Misaki was offering him a lopsided smile. Gratitude and more than a little affection surged through their bond, seeming to envelope him as their eyes met. “Thanks for that.”
Fushimi didn’t have to strain himself to catch the underlying meaning. Thanks for caring enough to put in that effort for me. It was close to how he felt often, where Misaki was concerned. Still, he responded with only an awkward shrug. “It was nothing.”
Once again, that affection gained an amused edge. “Sure,” Misaki responded teasingly, letting out a small ‘heh’ and bumping against his shoulder again, playfully. His eyes grew lidded, a smirk forming on his lips as he regarded Fushimi with warmth.
It was a sight he couldn’t help but find beautiful, heart catching in his throat as he let himself drown in that gaze. Without thinking, Fushimi reached up to brush a stray strand of hair from Misaki’s forehead, letting his fingers linger on the cool skin. “How do you feel about racing home?”
The meaning wasn’t lost; he could see it in the way Misaki’s expression changed subtly, anticipation building both from their bond and in his own head, mingling so that it was impossible to tell where it had originated. The answer was clear even before it was voiced.
“Hell yeah!”
They were on each other before they’d even properly fumbled through unlocking and opening the door, stumbling inside in a flurry of heated kisses and wandering hands. Misaki’s torso was bare from their flight, and Fushimi shamelessly took advantage, fingers mapping the familiar path to the sweet spots he’d so pleasantly discovered in the course of their relationship. Misaki moaned into his mouth, delight and arousal answering his own with abandon, hands gripping Fushimi’s arms, shoulders - everywhere that could be reached - with rough enthusiasm.
Misaki hadn’t withdrawn his wings, only folded them so that they would fit in the smaller space within the apartment, and so Fushimi followed his example, dropping the illusion of his coat and retracting his own wings only long enough so that Misaki could tug his shirt off before loosing them again. He wanted to feel those calloused hands on his skin, rapidly warming with the heat and friction between them as they ground together. But the moonlight streaming through the open window in the kitchen, finally freed of its cloudy prison, seemed to demand more of them.
Or maybe that was just a reflection of the emotion behind this. Fushimi couldn’t be bothered to puzzle it out. He only wanted Misaki in that moment, hard and warm and passionate against him.
Despite the flurry of activity and the urgency fast building between them, things were not moving as fast as Fushimi might have expected. Misaki’s kisses were slow, lingering - deep - underlined with a kind of aching longing that overwhelmed even his arousal. He wasn’t being as aggressive as usual, instead clinging to Fushimi with something like desperation, a silent plea in every action and emotion that passed between them.
It wasn’t difficult to figure out what he needed. Considering the previous night, his mood throughout the day, and the baggage he carried.
“I also wanna know for sure that you want me.”
Fushimi had been there often enough himself, and Misaki was always only too happy to oblige him. The fae were possessive by nature, and it didn’t take much to draw out that side. Now, faced with that same demand, Fushimi found that wild, unrestrained part of his own nature rising up to meet the challenge.
Demons were no less possessive, after all.
Mine. The thought rose into his head unbidden, fueled by the heat of that rush. Fushimi pushed forward on instinct until Misaki hit the edge of the kitchen counter, their mouths separating with the impact. He slid his eyes open just enough to take in that flushed face in front of him, plush lips parted with ragged breathing. Misaki’s eyes opened just a crack, gaze clouded with heat, and Fushimi felt the telltale spike of pleasure from his groin that signalled lustful attraction.
Misaki was stunning. Beautiful. The way his hair brushed his face. The sharp outline of his eyes, the natural downturn of his mouth, the rise of his cheekbones, the curve of his jaw… Everything. Fushimi wanted to take it all into himself and keep it forever, to hold onto the parts of Misaki that only he was allowed to touch and never let go.
“Misaki,” he murmured, their lips brushing, and swallowed the responding shudder with a kiss. My Misaki. Only mine.
That possessive thought was still ringing in his head as he slid his hands down the slope of Misaki’s back to cup and then grip the curve of his ass. Mine. Breaking their kiss with one last swipe of his tongue along the inside line of Misaki’s lips, he began to trail harsh kisses down along Misaki’s jaw, neck, and chest, savoring the taste and the slight give of flesh under his mouth.
So good. He could feel every hitch, every shudder of arousal, the vibration of every moan. Misaki’s arousal fed into his own, made the wait almost unbearable. Trapped within the confines of his pants, his erection throbbed painfully.
Not yet...
Unsteady fingers tangled in his hair, seeking and finding the base of his horns for purchase as he moved purposefully downward. “Saru,” Misaki managed to get out, low and rough, thick with lust and desperation. Fushimi reached the waistband of his pants, hands sliding around to the front so he could remove that particular obstacle. “Saru,” he said again, voice catching in a gasp when Fushimi tugged his pants and underwear down, allowing his cock to spring free.
He’d wanted to tease - slowly work his way up to giving proper satisfaction - but with the rush of blind desire that flooded his head from Misaki’s end, with the scent and the heat and the sight of that telltale bead of fluid at the tip of Misaki’s dick... that plan pretty much went to hell. Overwhelmed by sudden need, Fushimi leaned in to run his tongue over the head, gripping Misaki’s hips with trembling fingers against the abrupt forward jerk at the stimulation. He obligingly followed the forceful guiding motion of Misaki’s hands and widened his mouth to take in the entire length.
The sound that escaped Misaki at the action was loud and breathy, a mix between a moan and a gasp. His fingers were tense and shaking around Fushimi’s horns - the sharp sting as he pulled roughly at them fed right back into Fushimi’s own erection. He paused with his mouth around the base of Misaki’s dick and dropped his right hand to reach between Misaki’s legs and lightly fondle his balls.
They were tight, as expected, and his light touch prompted a shiver; this was going to end abruptly if he wasn’t careful, and he really didn’t feel like being careful. He felt like driving Misaki mad, in the way that only he could.
Because you’re mine. You’re mine, Misaki.
With that goal in mind, Fushimi slid his fingers back, between the cleft of Misaki’s ass, and brushed over the familiar puckered hole at its base.
The reaction was immediate; Misaki let out a strangled sound, the force at which his hands tugged on Fushimi’s horns growing exponentially. “Saru,” he gasped, and jerked helplessly as Fushimi wormed his finger inside. “Wait… wait, I’m…”
Yes. Deliberately ignoring the warning, he curled the finger inward, applying suction to Misaki’s cock at the same time.
It was incredibly gratifying to feel Misaki’s body go taut and then convulse against him, releasing down his throat and throbbing around his finger in the throes of orgasm. He rode out the shivering aftermath and Misaki’s throaty gasps for breath, waiting until he felt the cock in his mouth begin to soften before drawing on that familiar store of energy and pushing a stream of it into the bond that connected them.
The moan that Misaki let out as his body reacted to the fresh flood of arousal was so affected it was nearly a sob. “Saru,” he gritted out, rolling the r more than usual. His tone was sloppy - desperate.
Fushimi slid his mouth off of Misaki’s hardening cock and pulled back just enough to free himself of his pants as he stood again. “You didn’t think we were done already, did you, Misaki?” he murmured, trying to ignore the way his own voice shook. The ache in his erection was nearly painful; he wanted to bury it in Misaki’s body, feel the tight passage clench around it and draw out the pleasure that could only come with sex.
“Fuck,” Misaki gasped, voice breaking as their bodies came into contact again. He clenched his teeth visibly, letting out an impatient ‘ch’, and released Fushimi’s horns. “Shut… up…” His arms dropped to the counter, hands bracing just before he hoisted himself up so he could lift his legs and hook them around Fushimi’s waist to tug him closer. “Just… quit screwing around and” - he was interrupted by the helpless little noises that tore free of them both as their erections brushed together - “fuck me already, Saru!”
The last bit came out as a near growl, challenging and lustful, and Misaki’s flushed face split with a brilliant smirk as Fushimi narrowed his eyes. “I don’t need you to tell me,” he responded, low and dangerous, and revelled in the little spike of arousal that reverberated through their bond at his tone. He reached into the drawer near them for a familiar tube and doled out a generous amount of its contents onto his hand, reaching between their bodies to run it sinuously over his cock and allowing himself a moment to close his eyes and breathe out deeply at the influx of pleasure.
Only a moment, because he was too impatient to wait very long before worming both arms into the space under Misaki’s knees and reaching down to grip his ass and separate the cheeks so that he could slide his dick into the opening thus revealed without obstacle.
The intense sensation that came with the penetration flooded his senses and left him gasping in the initial rush, unable to hold in the tiny desperate whine that rose to his throat as he was overpowered by his own pleasure and the telling surge of arousal and satisfaction from Misaki. He had to clench his teeth to hold himself back from thrusting blindly and chasing that feeling to its inevitable end all too soon. It was something to savor, not to rush, and he wanted to feel Misaki around him, welcoming him and enjoying him, for as long as possible.
It wouldn’t be long regardless, but it was worth drawing out as much as he could.
Having sex like this, in positions that were only possible because of Misaki’s strength and flexibility, had become one of Fushimi’s favorite things. There was something exciting about seeing the muscles in Misaki’s arms ripple as he held himself up, wings braced against the cabinets for stability, specifically so that Fushimi could press him against the counter and fuck him.
The extra effort seemed to excite Misaki just as much, too - the storm of their combined need was particularly intense. It took every ounce of Fushimi’s self-control to keep his thrusts even and deep. He couldn’t hold in the little whimpers that escaped him each time he buried himself fully in Misaki’s body, the blend of mental and physical stimulation causing any rational thought to fracture.
Misaki was getting close too; his thighs were tense against Fushimi’s arms and the shifting of his body in that difficult to hold position was a telltale sign that he wanted very badly to sink back against the movement of Fushimi’s hips. The fact that he was stuck like this, forced to take it at the pace that Fushimi decided on, brought on another little surge of pleasant satisfaction - which may have originated with either or both of them; it was impossible to tell at that point.
We’ll have to do this one again.
The thought had barely occurred to him when Misaki tipped his head back, letting out a wild-sounding moan and exposing his throat. Without thinking, Fushimi found himself leaning in to take the invitation, thrusting hard and deep into Misaki’s ass as he sank his teeth into the base of that taut neck.
Mine.
Misaki jerked beneath him, stiffening in that telltale way and letting out a strangled moan as came. The clamping of the inner muscles around Fushimi’s dick was the final kiss of death for his already feeble self-control, and he opened his mouth, releasing a wet gasp against Misaki’s skin as shuddering pulses of pleasure overrode everything else.
There was the usual pause as they collected themselves in the aftermath, panting for breath and coming down from the high. As their bodies were still connected, so too were their minds, emotions jumbled together without properly belonging to either of them.
It wasn’t something that demanded an immediate solution; Fushimi was content to feel merged with Misaki in that short period of time. As he came back to his senses, he caught the slightly blurred sight of the angry mark he’d left through his now half-fogged glasses, and lowered his head to run his tongue over the line of it in a sort-of apology.
That’s going to be hard to cover up. Fushimi felt shamelessly satisfied by that fact.
Misaki let out a weak-sounding snort, weary amusement seeping through his haze of satiated contentment. “What the hell was that, Saru?” He shifted his weight, leveraging his wings for balance and freeing one hand to slide along the back of Fushimi’s neck. “Marking your territory?”
He was gorgeous like this, flushed and satisfied with a smirk on his lips and heavy lidded eyes. It made Fushimi’s heart start to pound in his chest, even this soon after finishing. He clicked his tongue lightly, raising an eyebrow in response to the question. “Remind me... when exactly did you protest that?”
“Shut up - you know I didn’t.” Misaki moved his hand up to force Fushimi to tip his head, bringing their foreheads together. He looked thoroughly pleased with himself. “That was… I mean, damn.”
“So descriptive,” Fushimi murmured, but he felt his own lips curling up in a responding smirk.
“Whatever, asshole.” Misaki’s grin was sharp, but his eyes were still soft and fond and there was no hint of irritation in the mass of unsorted emotions between them. “And... thanks.”
Fushimi closed his eyes, for once not feeling the need to dodge that gratitude. In a moment like this, it wasn’t so awkward and embarrassing after all.
“Anytime.”

I’ll See You Soon [fic]

Summary: Written as an epilogue for Shaking in My Skull.
It's always said that good things never last, but for them, the statement couldn't be more untrue.
Note: 2nd day entry! I had the sudden inspiration for this verse again, so yay for random epilogues lmao. Thank you to @emeraldwaves for checking this over!
AO3
"This is a rather big favor you're doing for them you know. I'm surprised."
Are you truly?
Despite the words, the tone was calm and pleasant, much like the room around them as they waited. Waited for the next step of a journey, one which Munakata knew wouldn't end, and shouldn't. Maybe that was why he felt the corners of his mouth lift softly, his eyes fixating on the clear depths of water below as the overseer of change sat beside him. Yet Nagare's voice held no criticism, no objections, as Munakata had predicted.
All was as it should be.
Munakata chuckled, his bones and eyes finally feeling the weight of exhaustion brought upon by several centuries at his post. He would rest soon.
Somehow, he'd never dreamed of being okay with this, with retirement, but the knowledge his throne would be well cared for dulled his worry. Perhaps, he thought, a permanent vacation was just what he needed. He closed his misty eyes for a minute, letting the resolve settle slowly into his being, the yoke of hell's guardian falling off his shoulders as if it had fully served its purpose.
Munakata opened his eyes again, though the mistiness was still there, and couldn't help but thank Mikoto for dragging him along to the afterlife by his side. Munakata guessed things did work out how they were supposed to in the end.
Which brings me back to this...
"Favor you say?" He asked with fondness, knowing the truth deep down, just as much as he had that first day, when two determined youths had ventured out on the Return together. "That's where you're wrong."
Nagare said nothing, only pulled away from the pool with a nod of amusement. Yes, he already knew the answer as well, and Munakata gave a fuller laugh this time, letting it echo off the meeting room's walls to blend with Mikoto's heavy breathing behind him as the angel snoozed.
Exactly as thing should be...
After all, favors were kindnesses given beyond the usual.
No, what he was doing...this was precisely what he owed.
--
The sounds of his heart monitor beeping were becoming normal by now, fading into the rolling of stretchers and medicine carts, drowning into the chatter of nurses and doctors alike. For most people it would probably be annoying, maybe ominous or sinister. Not for Yata.
He smiled slowly, his eyes managing to blink without succumbing to tiredness. It was hard, but he wouldn't leave without--
"Misaki..." The voice came from the bed right beside his, weak and barely there, but to him it was as calming as ever, capturing his attention in an instant. Misaki smiled wider, turning his head, though his muscles protested. Whatever, it was worth it.
Despite all the years he'd spent looking and thinking about Saruhiko, seeing his face never got old, no matter how old they actually got.
Misaki chuckled at his own joke, eyes sweeping over the body in the other bed. Saruhiko's hands were still at his side, toil worn and wrinkled, curled in on themselves from a life full of paperwork and overtime. Yata knew if the other stood, his posture would be god awful too, after his countless hours hunched over his computer. Dumbass.
As if sensing his thoughts, Saruhiko squinted at him, the crows feet under his eyes being accentuated by the expression, his glasses slipping slightly down his nose. Yata laughed, and while it quickly turned into a cough, it didn't make it any less pleasurable. Saruhiko's eyes flashed in amusement, the bright blue hues as vibrant as ever. Beautiful, analytical, piercing. So very Saruhiko.
Yeah, totally worth it.
"Yes?" Yata's voice was hoarse, struggling, and at that moment he figured he must look the same as Saruhiko. Saruhiko, with his rough, sagging skin and white hair, the perfect picture of old age. Funny, Yata never considered his appearance as he grew older, how far they'd come, until now, sitting right on his deathbed.
No doubt he had receding hair just the same, aching joints and bad posture to go with them. He laughed again, feeling unbelievably alive from the realization alone.
Ninety-two years, not bad huh, Saru?
Yata felt his eyes water, and he doubted it was from his body aches. Not bad at all.
Saruhiko licked his dry lips, shaking his head as he glanced up at the ceiling. "Do you think they planned this?"
It took a second for Yata to realize who he was referring to, but when he did, he couldn't help but feel a weird surge of gratefulness. "Probably, knowing them."
"How cheesy."
"Are you complaining?"
Yata felt his heart stutter when Saruhiko smiled at him, probably both from the emotions it elicited, and the fact his time was almost up. His eyelids felt heavy, his thoughts scattered, but when he finally passed, he wanted Saruhiko to be the last thing he saw.
The last face he saw before he died, the first when he opened his eyes.
He didn't doubt Munakata and Mikoto putting this together, not letting Yata spend even a day without Saruhiko. Not to mention the date...
Perfect.
Saruhiko reached a quivering hand across the small space which separated their beds, as if sensing the impending fate as well. Yata gripped it as tightly as he could, keeping it against his chest as his heart pounded and skull shook from the effort of keeping himself alive. Just a bit more...
Saruhiko finally answered him, his voice cracking and fading slowly. "No...I'm..n-not. Misaki..."
The tone was as scolding as it could be, and Yata could nearly hear the implied meaning there. "Idiot, you'll see me soon. Sleep."
Sleep huh...you too Saruhiko...you should sleep...
Yata felt his grip on the other's hand slacken, and he fought against the urge to drop it, using the last of his energy to keep it close to him. As if he'd let Saruhiko pass through a door alone ever again.
Sleep...and I'll be here when you wake up.
Yata smiled, feeling his vision spin out of use, his lungs giving up as the two monitors in the room went haywire, and the last thing he could make out was Saruhiko's eyes closing, the grip on his hand tightening.
And then there was nothing.
There was silence.
A complete absence of noise.
Still and steady...

Yata Misaki. Age ninety-two, born on July 20th, died on the night of August 14th.
Fushimi Saruhiko. Age ninety-one, born on November 7th, died on the night of August 14th.
.
.
.
Saruhiko opened his eyes, seeing nothing but the blurred edges of walls around him, shining white. Blinding white, giving off the illusion of a never ending hallway. Same as always, he thought.
He was lying on the floor, his limbs frozen like in ice, and he slowly began twitching each finger, working to his arms and legs with practiced ease. The room remained hazy, and without faltering, he reached up, removing his glasses until the room bloomed into clarity. His skin felt smooth, his muscles strong, his body able, as if he hadn't aged a day since he was twenty years old.
The thought made something nostalgic inside him stir, and he wondered why he was surprised in the slightest. He gave an amused smile at the ceiling, reaching up to thread his fingers through his long dark hair, feeling the lack of a receding hairline, basking in the mobility of his joints.
He wondered if this was a gift too, being given back his youth, though he didn't care to question it. He had more important things on his mind, and he turned his head to the side calmly, ignoring the distant paranoia beating in his heart, telling him he'd woken up here alone.
No, he knew better these days.
Misaki's eyes were bright and glowing, as they'd always been. That had never changed, even with age. The amber color warmed Saruhiko to his toes, the love and fierceness he associated with those eyes threatening to melt him on the spot.
Misaki...
The other was staring at him in wonder too, his face youthful, his hair back to the same fiery color as before he hit sixty, and Saruhiko reached forward to run his hands over it, down Misaki's cheeks and lips, like he held the universe in his hands. Well, he sort of did. Misaki was his universe, had helped him build and strengthen his world until it was big enough for them to share.
Saruhiko's fingers settled on the redhead's lips, feeling them lift up into a huge smile, and it was probably that which made Saruhiko lose his control. He surged forward, catching Misaki's lips with his own, the kiss firm and all he'd ever wanted. Somehow, he'd never gotten tired of it.
Misaki pulled away with a snort, but his watery eyes gave his real emotions away. Saruhiko, for once, didn't feel the need to comment, probably because his eyes stung too. "I look that good huh, Saru? No more wrinkles..."
Please...
Their foreheads bumped together as Saruhiko shook his head, reveling in the silence around them, something which had once unsettled him to no end. Now it was a reminder, telling him his time with Misaki would never truly end. "No. You always looked good to me."
Misaki's eyes widened for a brief second, the tears in both their eyes building, before the redhead pushed back on Saruhiko's head with his own. It was all they could think of to deal with the emotions raging between them, and eventually, Saruhiko's tears spilled first. Both of them laughed regardless, no unhappiness or discontent to be found, and they clung onto each other a moment after.
The force of the hug had them falling to the floor again from where they'd sat up, but they didn't mind. Nothing would ruin this.
"I missed you Saruhiko."
"We were apart for a few minutes, tops."
"Doesn't matter," Misaki sniffled. "You idiot."
Saruhiko couldn't feel pain anymore, but he swore he felt his skin sting from how hard Misaki gripped him, and he wouldn't give it up for anything.
I missed you too. I love you.
How silly it was, given how long he'd been apart from Misaki in the past, for months, maybe even years as he faced the unthinkable. Saruhiko shook his head, smiling to himself. Guess it doesn't matter now.
For that point on, they'd get through everything somehow, like they'd always had.
Together.
"Hey Saru," Misaki said, pulling away with a laugh. The redhead reached up to wipe his tears away, a small smirk settling on his face. Saruhiko hummed in response, returning it. "I think we're late."
The statement actually managed to catch Saruhiko off guard for a second, but soon he was rolling his eyes, taking in the plain white room once more. Once late arrivals, always late arrivals, that much was true.
Saruhiko leaned forward, capturing Misaki's lips again in a quick kiss before he heard a door open behind him as if beckoned, and he heard the familiar sound of a cane clicking on the floor.
Saruhiko smiled at Misaki as the redhead offered him his hand, and Saruhiko took it gratefully, ready to face fate's next endeavor.
"Yeah, I guess you're right."

Sarumi AU where Saruhiko is a pro gamer who plays online games all day in his computer and only drinks coffee for his dinner. One time Saruhiko ended up inside his computer in the game he was playing (he was playing some fighting game) That's where he saw and met Misaki
Yup, that’s how you get isekaied all right. Imagine Fushimi who almost never leaves his house and makes money as a pro gamer, he enters random tournaments and never shows his face because even that is a pain. He only does single player PvP too, every so often other gamers will reach out to him and try to get him to join a team for a pro league and Fushimi just deletes their emails. He doesn’t see any point in interacting with the rest of the world, as far as he’s concerned it’s just a pain to deal with other people and he would rather be alone living off coffee and Caloriemate. One day he receives a mysterious game in the mail which claims to be a free trial that was sent out to multiple gamers. Normally Fushimi would be suspicious of such a thing but he’s been feeling unwell lately and he figures playing a new game will give him something else to focus on, and anyway he’s received advance game copies before. He starts the game up and it’s a fighting game, Fushimi finds the character selection screen a little underwhelming. Like look at this one fighter, some short redhead with a bat even though it’s a fantasy setting, how stupid.
He starts playing but begins to feel dizzy, he puts his controller down and goes to get an aspirin but ends up passing out. He wakes up to someone shaking him, Fushimi grumbles ‘annoying’ and puts out a hand to wave them away, accidentally smacking the person in the face. The guy who was trying to wake him up squawks indignantly and Fushimi opens his eyes, sitting up and asking why someone else is in his apartment. The guy beside him is like uh what are you talking about and Fushimi realizes he’s outside, in some kind of stadium. Next to him is a short redhead with a bat and imagine Fushimi just giving this flat look like ‘really’ because he’s played his fair share of isekai games and this has to be a stupid dream. The guy introduces himself as Yata and Fushimi grumbles ‘I know’ before he can stop himself, Yata’s all flattered because to think he’s just started in ‘the Games’ and he already has a fan. Fushimi’s like I’m not your fan Misaki and Yata’s like wait how did you know my first name I don’t tell that to anyone. Fushimi mutters ‘the character selection screen,’ Yata has no idea what he’s talking about but Fushimi doesn’t look well so Yata figures he should take Fushimi to the med tent to check on him.
As he’s being looked over Fushimi realizes that he really did get isekaied, and even worse he’s wearing a wristband that proclaims him as a contestant in these battle games. Fushimi decides he’ll have to survive this to escape the game and figures that Yata seems stupid and gullible so Fushimi will just use him to learn all about the games and how to beat them. Yata doesn’t know what’s up with this weird skinny guy who somehow joined the games but he’s always happy to help and explains how the whole thing is like a big gladiator-style fighting ring and whoever wins gets a big prize. Imagine Yata thinks Fushimi should probably drop out because he seems pretty weak but then in his first fight Fushimi wins by using knives and strategy and now Yata thinks that this Saruhiko guy is amazing. Fushimi is determined to just use Yata to win his way up the ranks but when Misaki says ‘amazing’ it makes his heart skip a beat and as they spend more time together he realizes something horrible: he actually likes Misaki, and he doesn’t want to go back to the world where Misaki doesn’t exist. But at the same time he doesn’t know what will happen if he loses here either, and part of him is aware that as Yata keeps winning too they might have to eventually face each other.
#sarumi#Talking K#see drink too much coffee and play mysterious games and you get isekaied#and meet cute angry redheads#imagine Fushimi realizing he doesn't want to go home bc he hates home#but thinking whatever he does he'll end up losing Misaki#and hating that he cares about a video game character this much

People start to wonder where Saruhiko's daughter came from, like, did he give birth to her himself or...?, and then Saruhiko reveals that he found her sitting around when he was sixteen. Saruhiko accidentally-intentionally becomes a teen dad because that kid was not gonna last. Maybe that could be great to keep him going? Maybe one of the reasons he joins Scepter 4 is that, besides his underlying issues, he could give her a better life there?
I’m assuming this is in an AU where it’s not an omegaverse and Fushimi is still a cis male, but even so when he shows up at S4 with this little girl in tow everyone just thinks he must have birthed her out of nowhere himself XD I imagine him finding her maybe a little earlier than when he’s sixteen though, otherwise Yata and Homra would probably have ended up taking some control of her care. Maybe this is like just after Niki dies but before Fushimi and Yata move in together and Fushimi is wandering around when he feels this tug on his shoe. Fushimi looks down and there’s this little girl barely one year old holding onto him, wearing just a diaper and a dirty shirt. She’s really thin and ragged looking and all alone, just staring up at him with these big blue eyes. Fushimi looks around but there’s no adults anywhere around, and when he tries to ask the kid where her parents are she just looks at him in confusion and makes babbling noises. Fushimi considers dropping her off at a police station but it’s not like he trusts any adults, even police, and besides it occurs to him that they might ask why he’s out alone so late too. As much as he complains about this kid clinging to him he doesn’t want to simply leave her there either, and in the end he has no choice but to take her back home with him. He figures it’s just for now, he’ll figure out how to get rid of her in the morning, but somehow despite him constantly telling himself that he keeps watching over her instead.
In this case I feel like Yata at the very least would have to know about the kid, there’s really not much of a way that Fushimi could get around it especially if he was already planning to move out of his house and Kisa’s planning to sell the place anyway. Yata can’t believe that Saruhiko of all people adopted a kid, Fushimi says he’s just watching her until he finds her parents and he doesn’t want Yata to tell anyone. When they find an apartment maybe it’s slightly larger in this case and Fushimi and the kid have a room separate from Yata, Fushimi says it’s so she can have her own room so he doesn’t have to listen to her cry and can get some sleep but then in practice he ends up sleeping in the room a lot because she won’t stop crying unless he’s there (and the idea of just leaving her to cry until she gets exhausted makes Fushimi feel itchy and on edge, like that’s something that Kisa or Niki would do, and even though he’s adamant that this is not his kid and he is not her dad now he can’t bring himself to be like those two either).
Yata really thinks they should at least tell Kusanagi about the kid because maybe he could help find her parents but Fushimi tells him not bother Homra with stupid things like this, he can find the kid’s family all on his own. Yata I think would be pretty helpful here even so, he knows how to deal with little kids so imagine he does end up ‘teaching’ Fushimi some parenting basics. Yata likes the kid but he can see that Saruhiko is unexpectedly attached and thinks maybe this is a good thing, Fushimi still seems on edge in Homra and like he’s not fitting in but here’s something that Fushimi is showing an interest in. Yata feels like eventually Fushimi will share the kid’s existence with the rest of them and Homra can help him raise the baby, and if it’s good for making Saruhiko happy then Yata will support that and be the best uncle ever.
Obviously having a kid is an extra expense, and even though Yata swears he can handle paying for the apartment on his own and he doesn’t need Fushimi’s half, really, Fushimi insists that he’ll pay his half and pay for everything for the kid too. In this case I wonder if Fushimi would even stoop to touching his inheritance (presumably he has one, Kisa didn’t need Niki’s money and I could absolutely see Niki leaving anything he has to his little monkey as one last joke), like he doesn’t want to get anything from ‘that man’ but his baby needs food and he has nowhere else to go. Maybe he starts taking odd jobs when he can, but since he’s only sixteen it’s either online coding work or shady in-person stuff. Kusanagi would probably become aware of the latter due to his own contacts and he tries to talk to Fushimi about it, worried that he’s going to get into something he can’t get out of, but Fushimi just rebuffs him.
Then when Munakata recruits Fushimi to S4 maybe this is part of his ‘sales pitch,’ like while he and Fushimi are doing the puzzle in the van Munakata just drops a ‘you’ll be paid of course, enough to support yourself and your dependent.’ Fushimi is immediately on guard because he never mentioned a dependent, Munakata just smiles calmly and says he has his sources and has become aware that Fushimi is working for two, so to speak. Munakata probably also knows whose kid Fushimi’s child is but won’t unseal that record unless Fushimi asks, though should he join S4 he would have full access regardless (also imagine Munakata hinting that he himself is a very dependable uncle and good with children and Fushimi is like I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that).
Maybe one of the other things that gets Fushimi to decide to leave too is Yata finally breaks his promise and tells Homra about the kid — definitely not maliciously, like say Kusanagi decides to talk to Yata about the dangerous stuff Fushimi’s been doing lately to see if Yata can talk some sense into him. Yata’s really worried that Fushimi’s putting himself in danger and ends up blurting out ‘I told him I’d help pay for the kid.’ Kusanagi is like wait what kid and Yata desperately tries to think of a lie but of course he’s no good at that and eventually has to admit the truth (say while he’s stumbling over a bad lie Mikoto comes over and tells him it’s fine if he wants to say it, if he thinks that’s the right thing to do. Then afterward when Yata’s trying to explain himself to Fushimi he starts talking about Mikoto and Fushimi misunderstands, thinking Yata just told because Mikoto asked him to and not that Yata had already accidentally given it away). When Kusanagi, Totsuka and Mikoto try to gently confront Fushimi about it he gets defensive, on top of him seeing all the Niki hallucinations putting him on edge. All of this piles up to him deciding to go to S4, because he’s angry at Yata for breaking his trust and leaving him, angry at Homra for thinking he can’t take care of someone else on his own, and angry at himself for being just as useless as his own parents that he can’t give this kid a decent life and that he can’t bring himself to give her up even though he knows anyone else would be better at being a parent than him.
#Fushimi Saruhiko#Talking K#good dad Fushimi#imagine all the rumors that Fushimi gave birth to her XD#even though everyone knows he's cis male it's just like an assumption#like he birthed her via mitosis or something XD#Fushimi is dragged kicking and screaming into being a parent#he insists for years to anyone who asks that he isn't her dad even as she calls him dad

If Saruhiko were pregnant, how would it reveal it to Yata and Scepter 4? Would he even try to?
If Fushimi is cis-male in this and it’s not an omegaverse situation I imagine that would be a pretty major revelation XD Assuming this is either omegaverse or trans Fushimi, I think he would definitely be hesitant at telling anyone just because he’s still processing it himself. I’m also assuming this is Yata’s baby so that would probably be his first concern, like how does he tell Misaki and does he even want to, what would happen if he just quietly took care of this himself. Of course Yata probably starts to notice that something’s wrong pretty quick, since Fushimi’s been even sicklier than usual with lots of throwing up in the morning and maybe he’s even eating weird things, like Yata caught him chewing on a stalk of broccoli the other day. I imagine Fushimi revealing the pregnancy to Yata slowly but also kinda bluntly, like he tries to ignore it until Yata finally confronts him all ‘what’s going on, seriously just tell me’ and Fushimi just blurts out ‘I’m pregnant.’ Yata is speechless and Fushimi immediately takes that badly, Yata has to reassure him that no it’s okay I’m excited this is great.
Revealing it to S4 is a whole different matter, like with Yata the worry is all about the pregnancy itself but if Fushimi’s revealing it to work he’s reconciled at least with the idea that yes he is having this baby. He probably doesn’t want to tell work mostly because he doesn’t want to be fussed over or told to stay back out of danger, the idea that everyone will treat him differently annoys him. He does at least have to tell Munakata at some point though, Yata pointing out that as annoying as that guy is Munakata is Fushimi’s boss and Fushimi being pregnant and needing eventual leave is technically in Munakata’s hands. Imagine Fushimi being so grudging about it though because he just knows that Munakata is going to be so excited and planning to be an uncle and Fushimi just doesn’t want to deal with it. By the time he actually gets around to saying anything Munakata’s probably figured it out anyway and is just excitedly waiting for Fushimi to confirm, which makes the whole thing even worse from Fushimi’s end. As soon as Munakata knows everyone else does too, because rumors travel that way in S4 and the squad are equally excited, everyone congratulating Fushimi and telling him that he’s glowing (Fushimi meanwhile is glaring at them all and it’s like ‘wait no that’s just the bloodlust’). He does end up having to take it easy eventually too but it’s a little less grating somehow once he starts showing more and everyone is looking out for him, it just takes one glare and order from Awashima and Fushimi is actually taking it easy for once for the good of the baby.
#sarumi#Talking K#I feel like it's two different issues for him#telling Misaki is accepting this is happening and he has to deal with it#telling S4 is like ugh they're gonna fuss all over me Captain is going to be insufferable

Fushimi as Kotaro while the s4 members as the other apartment tenants in a Kotaro Lives Alone AU. (I sometimes don't end up sending an ask cause I think I already sent too much before so I may or may not have sent this same ask to you before, I'm sorry if I have and feel free to ignore this. Thanks).
Imagine everyone just falling in love with poor little Fushimi who is all on his own D: Say in this AU Kisa dies young and her little son Fushimi gets her inheritance, though he’s unaware of it. Fushimi is taken away from his creepy dad and set up at an orphanage but when he’s found by Niki he decides to run away and go hide, living by himself at an apartment complex. His rent is paid by a ‘generous benefactor,’ which is actually Kisa’s inheritance that’s being handled by lawyer Munakata. Munakata would love to adopt this adorable child himself but is aware that Fushimi would reject him if Munakata decided to do this without getting Fushimi’s agreement first, so instead he just brings Fushimi money regularly and tries to play puzzles with him. He’s hoping that eventually little Fushimi will ask to come home with him but it hasn’t happened yet, even so Munakata is willing to be patient and does his best to support Fushimi from afar. Fushimi thinks Mr. Glasses is weird and creepy.
Meanwhile the rest of the tenants at the apartment complex become aware that there’s this little gloomy child living in one of the apartments and there doesn’t seem to be any parents anywhere (but this strange sparkly nerd man in glasses will show up every now and again). Awashima works with Munakata and helped him get the apartment for Fushimi so when she’s off work she checks on him in Munakata’s place, imagine she’s always bringing him giant stuffed animals even though Fushimi says he doesn’t need them (and imagine Fushimi with this huge collection and he has no idea what to do with them but also somehow he can’t get rid of them). Government employee Hidaka immediately goes full big brother mode with Fushimi, imagine Fushimi’s school happens to be in the same direction as Hidaka’s office and Hidaka likes to walk Fushimi to school every day. Hidaka’s always smiling and chatting, even with Fushimi glares and complains, but at the same time Fushimi is now never bothered by bullies because he has his ‘giant big brother’ with him. Hidaka’s coworker Enomoto walks with them too, imagine Enomoto trying to get Fushimi into conversations about anime and being crestfallen that Fushimi doesn’t watch anything like that (except secretly Fushimi totally does and loves it).
Kamo meanwhile brings Fushimi a lot of his food, he’s not allowed to see his own daughter and probably kinda tries to take a parental role towards this kid who’s only a few years older than his daughter. Kamo runs a sushi restaurant and brings Fushimi leftovers, though he quickly realizes that Fushimi won’t eat a lot of things and has to be particular in what he brings. Akiyama and Benzai are policemen who are like vaguely aware that a small kid shouldn’t be alone in an apartment and maybe they even find out that Niki is looking for Fushimi. They eventually realize why Fushimi is hiding from Niki though and use their position to throw Niki off the scent so Fushimi can be safe. The rest of the apartment complex finds out about this too and imagine Gotou putting up some cursed statues around the foundation just to be safe, while Doumyouji tries to teach Fushimi how to defend himself with a stick (this ends with Fushimi hitting Doumyouji with a stick for being an idiot while Doumyouji cries that Fushimi is mean). Even Fuse, who pretends he finds the kid annoying, is always keeping an eye out and making sure Fushimi is okay, the whole apartment complex wants to protect him.
#Fushimi Saruhiko#Talking K#nooo poor babu Fushimi on his own#imagine him as little elementary schooler trying to be self sufficient#all the alphabet boys as his big brother#and Munakata who desperately has to rein in his desire to Adopt

In an AU where they are actors, Fushimi and Yata were cast as rival characters who have their own respective love interests. They didn't get along irl and so their rival relationship onscreen was realistic. This also meant when they finally became friends and got close irl, their rivalry onscreen look like there's something more and the fans started shipping their characters. Denying it in interviews just made fans think they're being tsundere.
They are tsundere though XD Imagine actor AU where maybe they were friends as child actors, like Fushimi is the son of high-powered executive Kisa and popular bad boy actor Niki and so of course he was pushed into show business. Yata just liked acting and was lucky to get a break, he acted in some commercial alongside Fushimi and it was the only time Fushimi ever enjoyed acting. After this they shared a few jobs together and became close, but then say Niki died of like an overdose and a bunch of scandals came out about his activities that made it difficult for his son to get work anymore. Yata didn’t have Fushimi’s contact info and wasn’t allowed to talk to him because it could affect his own career, though he tried to secretly send letters that always got returned to sender. As a result Fushimi assumed Yata didn’t care for him anymore and was tossing him aside just like everyone else.
Many years later Fushimi returns to acting on his own merits, having been nabbed by Scepter 4 Acting Agency and carefully pushed back into it by Munakata, who can see that Fushimi does actually enjoy acting. His big break is in some TV drama where he plays like a bad boy character and it just so happens that Yata is playing the delinquent with a heart of gold role. Yata is initially thrilled to see Fushimi again but of course Fushimi thinks Yata left him behind and so immediately starts mocking him. Yata doesn’t understand why Saruhiko became such an asshole and now they’re rivals, Fushimi deciding to make Yata hate him and Yata just confused and hurt. Their onscreen chemistry ends up just being even better because of this though, say their characters are also former childhood friends and the bitterness between them is so palpable that it just makes the onscreen rivalry feel more real.
Of course eventually they do end up actually talking their issues out (they probably get locked in Fushimi’s trailer or something and have no choice but to have a good fight and tearful reunion). While they’ve made up their characters are still rivals and both are good enough actors that it doesn’t affect their onscreen chemistry…except that now their chemistry is even better, like when Fushimi pins Yata to a wall and mocks him it somehow makes everyone wonder if they’re going to kiss. Imagine in the drama they both have love interests and the chemistry there was always a bit negligible (because Yata gets nervous around female costars and Fushimi can’t even fake being heterosexual) but now it’s so much clearer where the real chemistry is. The director is initially concerned about it until they see the fan reaction and everyone is just going wild for Yata and Fushimi, the ratings are up and all the online chatter is about these two characters.
Eventually at least some of the fans start assuming the two are dating, like imagine Yata and Fushimi having their own contingent of fans who look at their clothes and interviews and try to find like signs and secret codes that the two of them are together. What no one realizes is that Yata and Fushimi are idiots, so while of course they’re in love neither one has realized it yet. When they get asked about their ‘special relationship’ in interviews Fushimi just clicks his tongue and Yata talks about what good friends they are, the fans are like ‘okay they are definitely dating.’
#sarumi#Talking K#well maybe not tsundere#more like clueless XD#imagine them having all this chemistry though#like with their tv love interests it's kinda meh#but put them in a scene together and boom electricity

imagine aya somehow ends up at bar homra and runs into yata, she still calls him weird names but yata seems only slightly affected by it cause he is kinda used to it by now but the rest of homra have no idea who this girl is and why is yata not freaking out about her?, the guys assume she must be his gf and the rumor spreads until it gets to saruhiko
She's the only girl his age who he doesn't freak out around, clearly the Homra guys are making the only possible connection XD Imagine this like post-ROK and Aya just initially stopped at the bar to drink because she heard this place had good ambiance. Maybe she came with a group from school (since she’s grown too and has friends now) or something and she forgets her bag, she tells everyone to wait for her and goes back to get it and that's when she runs into Yata who was starting the clean up because Kusanagi had to run out for a minute. There's a moment of them looking at each other and then Aya gets this small smile and says 'Misaki-pyon.' Yata blinks and then laughs and greets her, he hasn't seen her in forever after all and he did kinda wonder if she was doing okay (especially since he doesn't know about the whole thing with jungle, as far as he knows the last he saw Aya was that day in the rain after middle school graduation). The two of them start chatting a little, Aya asking about Fushimi and Yata sheepishly saying that everything is,um, good because he doesn't want to get into that whole betrayal and reconciliation thing. As they're talking a couple Homra guys walk in and see that not only is Yata talking to a girl normally but she's being all familiar towards him, like clearly something is wrong here.
Eventually Aya goes but Yata says he'll call her again and that makes everyone even more intrigued. After she's gone the Homra alphabet ask who she was and Yata just shrugs because maybe he's worried that he might say too much about Fushimi's past in bringing up Aya, like he's trying to keep things vague, and he has no idea that he's now made the entire Homra alphabet think he has a girlfriend. Of course this spreads the rumor right away because everyone is shocked, Yata was the last person anyone expected to get a girlfriend. Eventually it even makes its way to S4, Doumyouji or Hidaka stopping by Homra to chat with the guys and finding out that Homra's Yata Misaki has a girlfriend. Imagine Hidaka finding out and being all worried because he's pretty sure Fushimi-san liked Yata Misaki and it won't be good if he finds out. Unfortunately for Hidaka he's the opposite of discreet and he totally ends up telling the other S4 guys, and just as he's talking about it Fushimi walks in. Hidaka freezes but Fushimi just gives this soft tongue click and goes back to work.
As soon as he's off work though Fushimi heads right to Bar Homra, head probably full of reasons for why he's stopping by that have nothing to do with Misaki dating a girl. Fushimi tells himself that he doesn't care who Yata dates it has nothing to do with him, he just wants to see who managed to get past that virgin's fear of girls, he's definitely not upset or anything nope. Imagine he initially just sees them from afar and he finds himself freezing when he sees Yata talking to a girl – Yata's smiling and the girl has a high-pitched voice and seems all traditionally girly and suddenly Fushimi can only think about how of course he wouldn't be the one that Misaki chooses, why would Misaki want him when Yata could just have a nice normal girl. He's just about to make a run for it when Yata yells his name, Fushimi almost doesn't stop but then he hears Aya as well and pauses. Maybe at first Yata doesn't get a chance to clear up the misunderstanding (because he has no idea that everyone thinks he has a girlfriend) and he's very confused when Fushimi starts immediately grabbing him by the hand and giving Aya all these cold challenging looks like she's trying to take something that belongs to him.
#sarumi#Talking K#I imagine at some point this gets cleared up so Fushimi doesn't have to be jealous anymore#and Yata is like wait you thought she was dating me she used to like you#Fushimi is like no she didn't so very clueless#Yata sighs like never mind#also you can let go of my hand now

Oooh! That Munakata with a toktok ask sounds fun! What do you think Munakata would say about those tiktok challenges? Would he participate on some? Would he try to start his own? (I don't have a tiktok so I'm not sure what challenges are in right now but I bet he'd hate the harmful ones I see on the news. Maybe he'd make some kinda PSA about them, too).
Oh I bet Munakata would love challenges, he always enjoys a challenge :D Somehow I imagine him stumbling upon all kinds of weird and random challenges and trying them out because he's been told such things are good for Content and Algorithms. He probably ends up getting a lot of views but only because he's so supernaturally good at the ones he tries, like imagine Munakata doing the spicy food challenge and just eating the hottest foods with a perfectly serene expression. Later he tries the milk crate challenge, the alphabet squad dutifully stacking crates for him into a pyramid, and then he just easily walks up and down them without falling or anything crashing to the ground at all (some of his viewers notice that there was a Blue glow around the crates but chalk it up to special effects, Doumyouji complains to Munakata later that the point of the challenge is to fail and Munakata is very confused). He probably gets very excited and tries to pull the squad in sometimes, like discussing with Fushimi that wouldn't it be good for their social media outreach if all the squad participated in a flash mob with him and Fushimi just gives him this flat 'no.'
Of course eventually Munakata finds out about all the dangerous challenges and he's very dismayed, like he didn't realize this fun app with all the silly videos could also be dangerous. As a government official and one who dispenses justice Munakata cannot just sit idly by and allow children to harm themselves simply for the sake of virality. Actually I could see him inadvertently getting popular by becoming something a debunking channel, like he starts making videos explaining why certain hacks are unhealthy and in some cases he'll do experiments (with lovely assistants Fushimi and Awashima) to show how such challenges can go wrong and here's how to do them safely. While he gets a lot of attention for these some people aren't happy with him harshing their buzz by speaking out against dangerous challenges, like what's this old man doing telling us what we can and can't do.
This gives Munakata an idea, if a challenge is dangerous he will simply have to create his own challenge which goes even more viral and supplants the dangerous one. Imagine he ends up creating 'the puzzle challenge,' where a person buys a puzzle with a huge amount of pieces and has to put it together without looking at the picture. Munakata demonstrates by doing this huge difficult one all by himself, sped up to fit the video length restrictions but clearly all done in one take. He wonders if anyone could manage to do such a thing themselves and urges his viewers to all please try and beat his record of 10,000 pieces in ten minutes (he chose an easy puzzle and went slowly so as not to dishearten anyone). When the squad find out they all think there's no way this will go viral, no one's interested in puzzles, but then to their shock it does take off and soon there are thousands of videos of people putting together puzzles and Munakata is just so touched and happy, finally everyone else loves puzzles as much as he does.
#Munakata Reisi#Talking K#CAPTAIN NO#he would definitely never sit idly by as children try dangerous stunts#he just has to replace them with wholesome challenges#like the oya challenge or the ninja challenge

Idol K Sarumi! Yata reaches acceptance/resignation about Fushimi's 'betrayal' with Totsuka and Kusanagi's help. In the process, they put together the most epic cover of Journey's 'Separate Ways', specifically for Yata's voice. Once released, it's a hit of crazy proportions for multiple and obvious reasons. Fushimi's reaction?
Somehow just imagining Yata doing this very very 80s song amuses me, imagine him just getting to rock it out. Say after Fushimi leaves Homra record label Yata's initially super upset and for a while he and Fushimi are probably debuting dueling broken heart/betrayal songs. Even though he was initially angry though Yata slowly starts accepting it more, maybe seeing how much more alive Fushimi seems on stage now that he's with Scepter 4 vs when he was in Homra. It's like the spark that was there when they were a duo has come back and that helps Yata realize that maybe Fushimi was never happy in Homra after all. He still can't forgive Fushimi for breaking things off with him so painfully but at the same time he's starting to feel like he understands why Fushimi left and he wants to reconcile, he just doesn't know how.
Totsuka and Kusanagi happen to be listening as Yata records his next heartbreak-ish song and Kusanagi says it feels like something is missing in the recording. Totsuka gets this understanding look as he says this isn't the song Yata wants to sing is it. Yata admits that he's been struggling to write a new song, something that can let Fushimi know that even if Fushimi doesn't want to be friends anymore Yata will still be there for him. He feels like yeah, he's still heartbroken but he's also kinda understanding and he wishes there was a way he could convey in his music what he's feeling. Totsuka gets this grin as he says he has an idea, he's been getting into older English songs lately because he wanted to try something new and he thinks this song might work for Yata. He plays the song for Yata and at first Yata's kinda unsure because the beat is cool but he has no idea what any of those words mean because he doesn't speak English. Kusanagi translates for him and Yata's eyes widen, this is just what he needed.
So Yata ends up releasing this epic cover of an 80s song by Journey, maybe they translated most of it into Japanese but left the chorus in English for flavor – and in part because Yata knows that Fushimi can speak English, and will definitely understand it. The song becomes a major hit and imagine Yata doing the rounds on talk shows, mentioning that he wanted to sing this song in order to 'let a stubborn idiot know how I feel.' Of course this is how Fushimi finds out about it, at first he refuses to listen to the song because why would he want to listen to idiot Misaki's worthless songs (even though he always listens to them all eventually, and owns all Yata's albums and singles). The first time he listens imagine him just sitting there in silence, letting the words sink in as his fists clench and his nails dig into his palms. I imagine him not wanting to believe this at all, like even with what Yata's said on TV, even though it's so obvious to everyone else, Fushimi still can't believe that Yata's trying to convey these kinds of feelings to him, until a few days later when a disc copy of the single arrives at his apartment with a note written in Yata's obvious handwriting, reading 'just listen to it, okay?'.
#sarumi#Talking K#imagine Yata just belting it out#he probably thinks the song is like a cool American rock song XD#imagine him switching between Japanese and English knowing Saruhiko will understand#Fushimi quietly listening to the song and not saying a word#later Yata's on stage singing it live while looking right at Fushimi in the audience

fem!sarumi during their lsw era playing with make up
Somehow I can’t see either of them being fond of makeup, Yata because she wants to be a tough girl and makeup is for stupid girly girls and Fushimi because she’s just too lazy to actually apply makeup every day, like what the hell kind of effort can anyone expect of her. Maybe they’re actually hanging out at Fushimi’s house one day and Yata has to run to the bathroom, the house is so huge she gets turned around and ends up in Kisa’s private bathroom. Yata’s never been in here before and she’s boggling at how fancy it is, when she sees all this makeup laid out on the vanity. Most of it is really high end stuff in fancy containers and it’s probably mostly full too, since Kisa so rarely actually gets ready at home.
Yata takes so long that eventually Fushimi shows up, wondering what she’s doing. Yata says it’s not like she’s interested in makeup or anything (but maybe she is secretly kinda curious) but anyway look at all this stuff does your mom really use all of this. Fushimi clicks her tongue and shrugs, Kisa has mentioned things to her before about how a proper young lady should know how to use makeup but Fushimi’s always ignored that. As she’s talking Yata sprays some perfume at Fushimi’s face, Fushimi glares like what are you doing idiot. Yata says she’s just looking, opening up a tube of lipstick and telling Fushimi to smile. Fushimi calls her an idiot again but Yata just grins and pounces, trying to put the lipstick on Fushimi and smearing it on her face.
Fushimi gets annoyed and hits Yata with a powder puff, soon they’re trying to get at each other with the makeup. At some point though say it goes from attacking each other to trying to see who’s ‘better’ at it, Fushimi claiming no makeup can make Yata look like an adult while Yata thinks makeup can’t even fix Fushimi’s scowl. Neither one is very good at it and the products probably don’t fit Yata’s skin tone in particular at all, she can’t help but feel a little down that she doesn’t look all that good in makeup but Yata tries to blow it off by saying of course she wouldn’t like makeup. Then she glances at Fushimi and chokes a little, Fushimi’s managed to put together a look and she’s actually really gorgeous, dark lips and eyeshadow that makes her blue eyes even more striking. Fushimi takes Yata’s stare to mean it doesn’t look good and she starts to clean it off, Yata’s like no seriously you looked amazing maybe you should wear makeup more often. Fushimi just quietly mumbles that she doesn’t want to ever look like ‘that woman’ and washes the rest off as quickly as she can.
#sarumi#Talking K#imagine them having fun for a while#until Fushimi looks in the mirror and sees Kisa's face staring back#and immediately she cleans it all off and refuses to wear it again

How about something with post-reconciliation sarumi finally getting past the awkward phase and just returning to a comfortable friendship, when saruhiko (in an ooc moment where he isn’t as emotionally constipated) realizes that what he feels for misaki is definitely more than friendship. he panics and tries to push yata away again to try and put an end to this mess, but even though yata’s completely oblivious to the reason,he’s not about to make the same mistake again, so he just keeps (1/2)
I can definitely see this happening, like now that they've become friends again and Fushimi's trying to become a healthier person and all that he suddenly realizes that not only do his emotions exist but he's having an awful lot of emotions for Misaki and he assumes that this will totally ruin his rekindled friendship. Fushimi doesn't have the confidence to believe that Yata would ever actually love him back and he thinks that there's no way he could just keep this a secret, like somehow he's going to screw up and tell Yata how he feels and then Yata will reject him because why would anyone love someone as screwed up as Fushimi. Not knowing how to handle this at all Fushimi falls back on old habits, even with him trying to become better he's still got his old shitty coping mechanisms (or lack thereof) and he doesn't know any other way to handle his mixed up feelings other than trying to push Yata away. On some level he knows that really he's just making the same mistake again, breaking his friendship because he assumes it will be broken without even knowing for sure if that's the case, but now that he's accepted his feelings for Yata the idea of Yata leaving him or hating him is too painful, Fushimi would rather shatter everything a second time rather than have to deal with Yata leaving him behind.
Fushimi doesn't go for out and out betrayal this time – because there's nothing really to betray and even an idiot like Yata will figure out that something's wrong – but he tries to just like subtly push Yata away again. He starts canceling any plans they make together, always finding a reason why he can't go drinking or spend the night at Yata's place, avoiding Yata whenever Homra and Scepter 4 end up working together, and just generally trying to act as if his relationship with Yata doesn't exist anymore. Yata has no idea what's going on because they were doing better and here suddenly Fushimi's pulling away from him again, but he's also not going to make the same mistake again and this probably just makes him even more determined to get close to Fushimi and find out what's wrong.
So the more Fushimi tries to shove Yata away the more Yata keeps showing up to talk to him, like oh okay you don't have time to go out because of work that's fine I'll just stop by your work and bring you something to eat. Fushimi's best attempts at turning him away don't work at all, Yata just keeps appearing and talking to him and being all gentle, as if he's dealing with a skittish animal who could run away at any moment. And of course this makes things even worse for Fushimi because now he's falling for Misaki even more, every time Yata looks at him with those understanding eyes and smiles at him and tells Fushimi to take his time Fushimi just falls in love all over again (and maybe Yata even says it out right to him at some point, like I know you’re trying to avoid me but I don't know why and until you tell me I'm just gonna keep showing up okay and Fushimi has no idea how to respond to that because he can't bring himself to just blurt out his feelings even though his heart is pounding so fast right now with Yata right there beside him staring at him).
#sarumi#Talking K#Fushimi probably ends up saying it somehow eventually#like he's up way too late and Yata shows up to talk to him#he's half asleep and cranky and not really focused#and he sees Yata and thinks this is like an overwork hallucination and he ends up saying 'I love you'#Yata is momentarily surprised and then he smiles and is like you idiot you could've just said so earlier#FUshimi suddenly realizes this really is Yata when Yata leans in to kiss him

Strain power that reverse your feelings, so the level of love you have for someone will turn into level of hate. What would happen if Munakata/Fushimi is affected? (Reisaru pls)
When Fushimi gets hit can anyone even tell XD Well, maybe no one else can tell because Fushimi is normally prickly to Captain anyway (that’s just how Fushimi shows his love) but Munakata knows something’s wrong. Imagine the Strain power only works by changing your feelings for the person you love the most, so Fushimi’s normal interactions with everyone else don’t change. He doesn’t even realize he’s been hit because of that, like maybe he gets jumped by the Strain but afterward Fushimi feels fine and so he doesn’t mention the issue to anyone. When he gets back to headquarters though and has to deliver his report to Munakata he scowls, just disgusted by the idea of having to be near that guy and suddenly he can’t understand why he even joined S4 when he loathes his King so much.
The rest of the squad just think Fushimi’s in a bad mood, the way he’s muttering to himself about how he doesn’t want to deal with Captain, but as soon as he steps into Munakata’s office Munakata feels like something is different than usual. Fushimi is all cold and scornful the way he usually is but there’s something even deeper to it this time, like it doesn’t feel as if Fushimi is being that way to mask his true feelings, he actually is upset. Munakata tries to talk gently to him and Fushimi clicks his tongue and snaps at Munakata not to touch him. Munakata is truly worried now, attempting to like see if Fushimi has a fever or is ill in any way and Fushimi recoils in visible disgust, snapping at Munakata that he hates being touched by people he doesn’t like.
Poor Munakata is perhaps a little stung by that ‘doesn’t like’ (somehow I imagine him sitting there at his desk with his glasses slightly cracked and a sad sparkle as ‘people I don’t like’ echoes in his head). He feels as though he knows Fushimi too well to just accept this though, I imagine Munakata immediately trying to uncover what’s happened to make Fushimi act so. This is how he eventually finds out about the Strain and he quickly uses all resources at his disposal to try and find the Strain and get rid of the power’s effect on Fushimi. Imagine afterward Munakata’s pleased that Fushimi has returned to normal, Fushimi grumbles that he was normal before it’s just that Munakata is annoying and that’s when Munakata points out the ‘changes your feelings towards the person you love most’ bit and Fushimi’s face suddenly gets super red.
Opposite scenario, poor Fushimi is probably pretty hurt by this one. Imagine same Strain power and Munakata doesn’t even know he’s been hit, he acts the same towards everyone and no one even notices a change in him. But then Fushimi goes to deliver the report for his most recent mission and imagine Munakata being so cold towards him, ridiculing Fushimi’s work as sub-par and wondering if his trust in Fushimi was misplaced. Fushimi is obviously taken off guard and he gets defensive immediately, Munakata just scornfully throws the work back at him and says if he isn’t competent enough to do this perhaps Munakata should find him a role that’s more suited to his abilities. Fushimi ends up storming off, angry and irritated and actually very hurt but unable to show it or really process it, he’s sitting at his desk with his shoulders hunched and teeth gritted and he can’t even vocalize why he’s so upset.
After this Munakata just continues to look down on Fushimi, constantly criticizing him for his failures and inability to live up to Munakata’s expectations. Fushimi’s temper keeps getting shorter and shorter but imagine at the same time he’s overworking himself even more than normal, like he’s going to ‘show that guy’ but really he’s upset that things he’s properly worked on are being criticized. At some point the rest of the squad definitely notices and becomes concerned, everyone knows Fushimi is Munakata’s favorite and it’s not like him to act this way to Fushimi. Awashima ends up talking to Kusanagi about it because she’s really worried about both Munakata and Fushimi, which is when she finds out about the existence of the Strain and realizes what might be going on.
Fushimi doesn’t want to hear it when she tries to tell him so Awashima and the special forces squad go out on their own to capture the Strain, for Fushimi’s sake. Once the power has worn off I think Munakata would be very remorseful, the idea that he said such terrible things to Fushimi is very upsetting to him. Fushimi tries to claim that it doesn’t matter, he wasn’t hurt anyway, but Munakata doesn’t buy that and he’s being all loving and doting to Fushimi as he says that he would never wish to hurt Fushimi in any way. Fushimi mumbles that Munakata doesn’t need to comfort him and Munakata strokes his hair while saying that this is comfort to them both, if he can see Fushimi’s spirit eased that is all the comfort Munakata wishes.
#Reisaru#Talking K#poor Fushimi he would be so hurt#thinking Munakata's angry at him#Munakata knows something is wrong immediately#his precious Fushim-kun would never say such things :P#anyway back to three asks y'all work quick

Since Mikoto and Fushimi are both from a rich family, what about a Mikosaru arranged marriage?
Imagine Mikoto has been aware of this for a while but Fushimi had no clue so he's freaking out while Mikoto's just like 'oh yeah that.' Like maybe Mikoto's parents worked with Kisa at some point and they had a strong business relationship, at the time Fushimi was just a small child. Kisa and Mikoto's parents decide that a great way to cement their business relationship would be to betroth their kids (pretend in K world it doesn't matter that they're both guys and no one bats an eye at it), though Mikoto's a few years older Kisa doesn't see it as a bad investment and she agrees. They sign some legal paperwork and the idea is once Fushimi turns twenty he will be officially betrothed to Suoh Mikoto. Mikoto is like tangentially aware of this whole thing, his grandfather mentioned it to him once but he never really thought too hard about it. When Fushimi and Yata join Homra Mikoto thinks that Fushimi's name sounds familiar but he can't recall where he heard it oh well if it's important he'll remember eventually.
So then Everybody Lives AU and when Fushimi turns twenty Kisa shows up to inform him he has a fiancee. Obviously Fushimi's first reaction is basically fuck that never talk to me again but Kisa is insistent, she's made this agreement in writing and Fushimi needs to follow through. Fushimi is convinced to at least meet his fiancee and if they can come to an agreement to terminate the marriage contract Kisa might be willing to consider it but she's still fairly set on the whole thing, even though Mikoto's parents are dead he still has a lot of inheritance that Kisa thinks could be useful for her ambitions. As it happens she never tells Fushimi the name of his fiance, just gives him an address to meet and waits outside for him. Fushimi ends up at this fancy restaurant where he's taken to an outdoor table...and there's Suoh Mikoto, half asleep on the opposite side of the table.
Initially Fushimi thinks Suoh somehow decided to crash the party, like what are you even doing here. Mikoto looks up at him all oh it's you, Fushimi doesn't get why Mikoto would even be here in the first place like shouldn't you be off bugging Captain somewhere right about now. Mikoto shrugs and says he figured he shouldn't leave his fiance waiting all alone. Fushimi starts to say something cold and then he's like wait fiance and Mikoto just grins up at him. Fushimi is in total shock like why the hell would I be engaged to a lazy bum like you and that's when he finds out that Mikoto is in fact loaded thanks to inheritance stuff he just never really touches the money because he isn't interested in it. Fushimi assumes that means he's not interested in the engagement either and Mikoto gives him a wry smile like 'didn't say that.'
Fushimi assumes that Mikoto refuses to cut off the engagement just to toy with him and he's kinda half right, like obviously Mikoto isn't going to make Fushimi marry him if Fushimi doesn't want to but he's always found the kid intriguing and maybe he thinks that spending some time together might get Fushimi to be less afraid of him. Fushimi absolutely doesn't want to be engaged to this guy but he's bound by the agreement for now, he probably makes Mikoto vow not to tell anyone about this. Except since Mikoto doesn't tell anyone now Homra's getting all nosy because Totsuka's noticed King sneaking off a lot lately and suddenly he's being tailed as he goes on what appear to be dates with Fushimi. Fushimi meanwhile is also being watched by S4, who are all curious where he keeps running off to and why he's been in an even worse mood lately, and now he's also spotted going on dates with Suoh Mikoto. Both clans are all on fire with rumors and that's when Totsuka overhears Mikoto talking to Fushimi about an engagement and everyone assumes the two of them have been dating for ages now and hiding it from them all. Meanwhile Fushimi is being forced to go out on dates by his mom, like the two of them have to be seen at various functions together, and he's not happy about it but imagine spending all this time with Mikoto is making Fushimi get closer to him too, like he's insisting he doesn't want to marry Mikoto but then at the same time he can't deny that the dates have not been... as horrible as he was expecting.
#Mikosaru#Talking K#SHIP MIKOSARU ALL YE HEATHENS#and Mikoto is just starting to enjoy all this#maybe he's being protective of Fushimi too in his own way#like if Fushimi wants to break the engagement Kisa might not ever leave him alone#but if they can find a way to work things out themselves he can get Fushimi away from his awful mom#also maybe he likes seeing Fushimi huff and complain too it's cute :3c
