yo, owner of daily demon spotlight here, what'd you think of smt v? i wanna have tempered expectations for when vengeance comes out, so i was curious how someone who played it felt about it. ty in advance! :)

hi!! overall i really liked smtv tbh, at least enough to keep playing to get every ending (and then see the vengeance reveal THE NIGHT I FINISHED MY LAST RUN 😭)

i'll try to keep it a little vague in case you don't want too many spoilers but......there's still some spoilers lmao i'm so sorry but i at least tried to leave out the huge details or not explicitly say them

in terms of gameplay, it's really fun!! it's pretty difficult at first (i played on hard mode my first run but i've read that normal and casual can be challenging too i guess esp if you're new to the series) but it gets easier as you progress. a lot of people seemed to have a problem with the level scaling, esp for the shiva battle since he's a lv96 superboss (optional really but required for the secret neutral ending) but the bosses in the very final dungeon are like......lv80-85. even the final boss is only like lv85 unless you're doing the secret neutral route then he's lv90 i think. i didn't really think much ab the level scaling until i saw other people talking ab it but.......yea i had HUGE problems with shiva, i had to max out the level of my whole team just to take him on, but then it turned the endgame bosses into a total joke. i had a hard time with some of the other bosses too, the ones i remember the most being hydra, nuwa, lahmu, surt, and vasuki but it might be different on lower difficulties. the magatsuhi gauge + the skills were fun to use but the one you get at the very beginning that just comes with being a nahobino is.........kinda the only one you really need a lot of the time since you can just crit everything when you use it. it didn't really make all of the other ones obsolete tho since some were really good for survival like buffs/healing, it's just that it was a little too easy to get away with using the critical one for most of the time

oh, the unique skills were a good addition too, a lot of them were super useful like idun's, demeter's, and danu's since they all had good healing + extra effects. a lot of the new demons were good too, i haven't used all of them but the ones that i did use either really saved my ass or i just enjoyed having them on my team. although, i'm pretty disappointed the last 3 bosses aren't fusible and i'm ESPECIALLY disappointed that lucifer isn't fusible considering he was in apocalypse. he has such a good design in this game i'm so upset i can't have him on my team 😭 oh yea, and demons being locked behind an alignment is a little annoying but i don't really mind it much????? idk i feel like it gives the game a little more replay value, so i don't mind as long as it's not overly difficult to get. danu. inanna. and maria being locked behind certain alignments and ALSO being locked behind 70% compendium completion was a little annoying, but if you've got the macca to burn you can just summon directly from the compendium for new fusions until you get 70%, so it's not overly difficult to do. maybe a little tedious. i also liked the essence mechanic, but getting them was SUCH a pain since there isn't really any consistent way to farm them except for the aogami essences which are a little easier to get. i prefer the demon whisper from iv/a tbh but essences makes it easier to get certain skills on demons without having to do fusion gymnastics to get the perfect build

another thing is that there were only two real dungeons since the open areas were kinda supposed to serve as dungeons to a certain degree, but those two dungeons were........pretty underwhelming. the first one was really annoying cus it had a fan mechanic that would blow you to certain areas around the rooms and you kinda had to be careful with the timing on certain ones. it wasn't overly difficult to get around, it's just the fans that were a pain. the second dungeon was also the second to last area you go thru in the whole game and the setup was so ridiculous??????? like, it had a ton of long hallways and dead ends which is kinda to be expected but when you see a pic of the whole map for each section it's like "who the hell designed this?!" it's not even difficult to get thru, it's actually SUPER easy even with the time stopping doors gimmick which you can just......ignore entirely and the only consequence is losing out on some treasure. the layout is just weird and chaotic and seems like it might've been rushed cus it's also pretty empty, tbh both dungeons are

for the game's story..........oh god. it's pretty clear it was really rushed cus it was super underbaked. i didn't hate it, i actually liked the beginning a lot! but it falls off really bad after the second lahmu fight imo and the pacing just ends up all messed up. like the second lahmu fight feels like you're still early in the story but it's more like closer to midgame. and after finishing each major area, you end up going back to tokyo and having a meeting with your friends and director koshimizu at the research center, so all of those cutscenes look more or less the exact same since it's always in the same room and even the placement of the characters is almost the same. i've seen some people complain ab the lack of world building and while i don't think it has as much as iv/a did, a lot of the world building just ends up coming from talking to npcs and doing side quests instead of the main story. idk if that's good writing/design really but it's how the game ended up. there's also a few parts where they seem to be building up to something really big, but then the thing they were building up to ends up being mostly underwhelming. like the part where you meet yuzuru in da'at in front of the broken train, it feels like something is ab to happen, like a demon is gonna ambush them or they're gonna run into another friend like dazai, but then the convo ends and nothing happens. but it feels like something should've happened! and the pandemonic summit should've happened a lot earlier imo, idk i just feel like the placement of it is off cus after the summit, you're in the last main area and the end of the game is basically right around the corner. as long as you can beat the shit out of odin, zeus, and vasuki, you can get to the end relatively quickly, but it feels like more should've happened between the summit and the end of the game

i really liked a lot of the side quests tho! i think the khonsu one was my favorite and i wish he and miyazu didn't get sidelined so badly 😔 but the gameplay was really what kept me coming back for ng+ so many times tbh

the characters are all severely underdeveloped too, the only character that gets much at all is dazai tbh. yuzuru is off doing his own thing for a huge majority of the story and his sister miyazu is completely useless, getting minimized to being the chronically ill girl who just hangs out in the fairy forest the entire time. she get sidelined so badly which was so sad to me cus i ended up loving her, esp after the khonsu quest. sahori could've been given a little more, i wish she had a bigger role or something. tao also could've been expanded on a lot more especially considering her role in the grand scheme of things. even aogami doesn't get much of a backstory but it seems like they meant to try and touch on that but couldn't cus of time constraints. dazai is the only one that gets much of an arc at all, and it's decently interesting. i get that they might've wanted to try to do what nocturne did where you almost immediately split off from your friends and only meet intermittently, so their development happens offscreen, but i don't think this game did that very well. it also doesn't help that the world of v is so much more whimsical compared to nocturne

and oh god the ending...... i thought the cutscene where you finally ascend to the throne was beautiful so i don't necessarily hate it, but the way they tied the ending in with everything else was so obviously rushed and not well done. if you've played any of the other mainline games (mostly nocturne and iv/a are my frame of reference since i haven't played i or ii and haven't finished strange journey redux yet) it's really different in a way that i didn't really like. after you beat the final boss, the cutscene where you'd see or at least get an idea of the kind of world you created is so.....disappointing a little bit???? i won't spoil the endings for the other games in case you haven't played them, but the gist of them is that you're with your respective alignment rep and they're talking to you. but in v it's just.....you're getting narrated at by some guy! the whole thing is kinda just an info dump of how the new world turned out instead of getting to infer from the conversation with the alignment rep you sided with! like, really?? it would've been nice to see how the alignment reps felt about the new world at least

i was treating this as kinda a spoiler but tbh if you've played any other mainline game you can kinda expect lucifer to be the final boss or an endgame boss, but they basically used him as a huge infodump at the end?????? if you do the secret neutral ending he starts talking sometimes mid-battle about stuff about the universe that was never mentioned earlier in the story???? like, he talks about how the universe is doomed to reincarnate (which i know is par for the course in smt but still....) and that you have to kill him to break the cycle, but nobody else really mentioned that during the story. and i guess you could suspend your disbelief and say only he knows about it since he consumed the knowledge of the creator so of course none of the other characters would know, but that whole thing just felt really random, like the devs suddenly remembered that smt is supposed to have themes of reincarnation so they threw that in at the end. i don't think he mentions any of this in the other endings, and you don't even fight him in the normal neutral ending! and then after you kill him and see the cutscene about the new world, you find out in the post credits cutscene that none of that shit even worked!! so what the hell was all that for!?!!?!? i get that smt always has huge nihilist themes so the whole "you just did all of that for absolutely nothing cus we're doomed to reincarnate forever" thing isn't out of left field, but man seeing that post credits cutscene REALLY made it feel like i just did all that for absolutely fuckin' NOTHING. i'm kinda conflicted about it honestly, cus it was an interesting twist! i was surprised by it and the way they revealed it was really cool! but it also felt like it just diminished all of the world building lucifer just dumped onto us literally 10mins prior

the requirements for the secret neutral ending also felt really weird cus you're supposed to help all of these demons and it's basically showing you that even the demons aren't completely evil, but then the ending for that route is just "nah fuck all of them, this world is only for humans" and i just don't think it was a very good writing choice. the requirements make you feel like maybe there IS a solution for all of this conflict and maybe there is some kind of way to coexist with demons in a positive way, but then you see the ending and it's like oh......nvm then. maybe it turned out that way cus of time contraints, i don't know. i pretty strongly believe the secret neutral ending was meant to be a route centering around miyazu and khonsu considering the requirements to get it, but then the time constraints made atlus have to dump khonsu and miyazu off into a side quest and shift things around

overall, i'd say it was a good game! the gameplay is a lot more compelling than the story, but the problems with the story really only become glaringly obvious if you play it 4 times over like i did lmao. i've seen some people ask if they should play the game or wait for vengeance, or say that they got the game to play while waiting for vengeance to release and tbh.......i don't think it's all that worth it, if i didn't have the game already i'd just be waiting for vengeance since the story of the original game is still gonna be available, it'll just be a different path entirely. plus vengeance is supposed to have a lot of improvements both storywise and gameplay wise, so i feel like it's better to just wait. i'm really looking forward to it tho, i've been loosely following the trailers/news and it looks like miyazu will have more of a role and they've added a lot of cool gameplay mechanics 🥰

i wasn't expecting this to be so long, but i feel like there's a lot to say about the game even if it seems like there isn't. i just really liked the game despite all its problems and it's in really close second as my favorite after iv, so the release of vengeance makes me wonder if it'll top iv as my favorite. thanks for giving me a chance to word vomit ab it lol

Spoilers for Update 3 ahead!

So, we're finally at the end, Update 3 has been a mixed bag and for plenty justifying reasons. Most of what seem to say, is the difficulty. I will say climbing the towers on hard, was hard lol. Tower 1, 2 and 5 mostly, but 2 especially. However, I think it's not entirely unfair, that is if you're an experienced player, someone who thinks "platforming in Sonic games is a breeze", if you're a casual player or someone who isn't too used to StH's style of platforming, then this isn't easy for ya, try changing to easy mode if possible since I heard there's checkpoints (might be wrong tho!)

Anyways the main meat of the dish this time around is still the story and gameplay but moreso of the new characters! Amy, Knux and Tails who finally, FINALLY, make their grand return to being fully playable for the first time in over a decade in a Mainline game. All of which have new moves, some returning moves and no costumes whatsoever what the HELL SEGA.

Anyway. no seriously what the hell sega....

ANYWAY, their gameplay is different enough for me to take a different approach when playing as one.

Amy is waaay jumpier than any of the cast, her triple jump when unlocked covers TONS of airtime. Her base speed, to me at least, felt a bit like the rest of the cast which wasn't bad, and didn't need time to get used to thankfully. Her fully upgraded speed with the Max rings upgrade however, is chaotic to say the least lol. It takes a good amount of effort to steer and turn her...hammer broom? And when Max speed upgrade, it's WAAY past fast. It's fun when just chilling but bit of a hassle otherwise.

Her moveset....isn't bad. But wow, tarot cards went way into it. I love the idea of her using it as an attack! But having it be her main attack is...kinda disappointing cause she literally has a hammer. Which she's known for, by a lot actually. But again, the tarot cards being implemented is a welcome surprise! Just tone it down a bit next time yk? Also jesus christ Ms Cindy Robinson went hard in the studio SHE KILLED THAT SHIT

Knux wasn't fully polished, his gliding has a pain-in-the-ass startup, his attacks can miss at times cause of how much height he gets from the uppercut, and his fully upgraded Glide is MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE chaotic with how fast it is.

And I love it.

He has a good amount of stuff that needs fixing but like god man, he's just super fun to play as when fully upgraded. A huge glide over here, spin drill burst there and cheesing through obstacles all around. Plus that ground pound is obnoxiously powerful with a too-long start. He needs a fair amount of polish, but damn is he fun!

Lil buddy Tails is floatier? I think. Compared to the rest imo, he feels lighter. His attacks leave a bit to be desired tbh, his main attack being Woe Wrench be upon Ye, and it works fine enough but it doesn't have a lotta oomph. Even with the upgrade. His Adventure tailspin would have really benefitted being here but I digress. His laser kicks ass tho LOL, which coincides with the Cyclone returning.

Holy fucking shit. Good fucking Goku above. This shit is broken LMFAO like its a blast, probably the most fun I've had with in terms of the new moves but fuckin hell is it broken FJHEBA. idk if they plan to release patches for these 3, but if they do, don't be surprised if the cyclone is nerfed. SPEED MAXIMUM.

As for the Sonic's sides of things.....hueh..it's not. Bad. Just. Hard. LOL. Ya get 5 towers to climb, with the punishment of falling down being HUGE. Remember to Parry and sidestep when in the air as a piece of advice. It saved my ass tons of times. OH and if you destroy the purple walls in Tower 2 and fall all the way down, start a new life cause they do not I repeat DO NOT RESPAWN, until ya die or replay the save.

Aside from the towers are also 5 trials at the top of each one. They range from kinda easy to slightly easy to okay to hard as ball to Challenge 5. Not in that order except Challenge 5. Challenge 5 ya might wanna change the difficulty to easy. Also as a piece of advice for the snake trial, Cyloop, 2 hits then a stomp, it worked for me! And remember to parry when far away and they shoot at you.

Challenge 5.......fuck me man LOL. I didn't even know I've been playing on Hard mode until I changed it to easy cause of this. I only managed to half beat Wyvern but jfc. Each difficulty level has a different time for parrying. Easy has a 3 second time parry, Medium I believe is 2?? Might be wrong. But Hard, you need to be Frame by Frame, absolutely perfect. No shame in the easy way this time lol.

The story itself was okay! Not bad. Nothing too extraordinary but it was fun to see through. Plenty of lore with optional conversations such as the wildlife being transported before The End got to the ancients aside from some insects, Sage kinda admiring Sonic, Sonic shittalking Eggsy to the max and BIG WASN'T REAL APPARENTLY??

It was fun to see the other 3 experience the corruption of cyberspace and them breaking through it all was just badass I'm ngl lol. Amy's voice lines were raw as hell that sent shivers down me spine.

The memories and conversations with the Ancient Warriors who were the pilots of the titans were really fun, they all not-so-subtly reflected each of the main cast and there being an actual King to the koco was a surprise, lol at Sonic giving him shit tho. The ending was beautiful, Sage managing to hear EggMan call her his daughter without needing to sacrifice herself and them heading home together....grhj....ghje...I do, truly, care them.

I just remembered the cyberspace levels lol. They were okay. U get a bomb strapped to u in some. Fun.

The final, FINAL, boss is better than both the original Supreme fight and the "secret" boss fight against the end in the vanilla game. Both of which were kinda underwhelming, moreso the end tho.

The End v2 has a bit of a problem however, you can only target the tube on its head by attacking the head for a bit with normal attacks, then sidestepping, which leads to attacking the tube. Pain in the ass to find out. The fight itself is okay, Super Duper Sonic isn't too different aside from mandatory perfect parrying and blue eyes, the dramatics were BALLER AS HELL THO, THE SNAP AND THE SPECIAL MOVE WHERE HE CROSSES HIS ARMS A BUNCH WERE RADDDDD!!! Manually having to cyloop the sniper gun was a bit clunky tho since Super Sonic flies a bit funky.

Also the song isn't bad, it's a revamped cover of I'm Here, the vocals are Kellin Quinn and the instrumental goes hard!! But it kinda feels like they autotuned it a bit too much. I think I might prefer the original honestly.

And of course...what everyone's probably already seen at this point..

Overall, a mixed bag for all, but ultimately Fun for me. Who's to say if there'll be more in the future aside from sega and the employees themselves, likely patch notes at most. The characters were fun, the music was great, no shitty minigame being the true ending, all fun stuff. I hope Sonic Team and Co receive fair criticism and take notes where necessary.

Love ya Frontiers!!! Overall a 7or 8 outta ten in terms of this update alone for me!

So why stop playing genshin? Bored? I haven’t played in like 4 months now. It started on a long weekend where i didn’t have access to my ps5 and when I got home I was like “ehhh I’ll play tomorrow” and then tomorrow turned into a week into a month and I think I realized I only played out of fomo for the past few months. I do look at new stuff and think it looks fun but that might just be the fomo. I feel a bit bad tho since i did spend money on the game. Not an awful amount of money probably more than 150, less than 200

i was getting bored tbh. also when the devs said theyre not adding a new endgame mode.. like ive been a day 30 player and there's no challenge in the game anymore. i like being challenged and being a little competitive. exploration in genshin is so tedious too. not to mention paimon keeps interrupting every dialogue. yeah the game really has died.

im looking forward to try Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero. i think hoyoverse is aware that people are leaving genshin so theyre gonna self compete. and each game has a different demographic. i think ZZZ might be my game

psychonauts 2 review!

I played the first few-ish (not many... I'd guesstimate under 4) hours of the original Psychonauts years ago, but found it unruly to control and never progressed further. I remember thinking the concept was neat, though, and when I heard a sequel was coming I figured I'd check it out, since it'd presumably be more polished.

The sequel is very very good. I think it is the best game I've played this year. It's also maybe the most creative game I've played... ever.

When Rift Apart came out, a lot of reviews said it was "like a playable Pixar game". Having played (and enjoyed!) Rift Apart as well, I gotta say while that may be true in image fidelity, in basically every other respect I think Psychonauts 2 comes closer. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who's ever enjoyed this kind of platformer.

More detail and possible spoilers:

I'll start with the cons, because there aren't very many:

I posted early on that I found jumping kind of unwieldy/frustrating, which is bad for a platformer. Although I got better at it as I got used to the controls, I still did run into scenarios where I was creating a thought bubble while trying to wall jump, or rolling off the edge of a platform I'd just landed on, or otherwise just finding jumping clumsy. I turned off fall damage pretty early for this reason; it was infuriating to just keep dying because I couldn't make a clumsy jump, and then respawn with increasingly limited health.

(Also, fwiw, because I know gamers were losing their damn minds about this when it was announced, turning off fall damage doesn't allow you to skip out on executing all the platforming. You just don't respawn with a health penalty if you fail. You still have to eventually time it right.)

A few hours after turning off fall damage, I turned off combat damage too. So I guess I can't really evaluate the smoothness or difficulty of combat fairly, because uh... I was immortal. This is just me as a player though -- I played large chunks of Spiderman & Miles Morales & Rift Apart on immortality mode. Boss fights simply do not spark joy for me; I want to progress a story without repeating a segment several times. I will say, in this mode, combat was fairly repetitive, mainly just psi blasting and meleeing everything. I kept thinking about turning it off, to maybe appreciate the challenge or figure out other techniques.... but I really just wanted to keep progressing the story, so I never did.

HOWEVER... there's a ton of extremely profitable games where combat is literally just "shoot", so, even then I wouldn't hold it against Psychonauts much.

I'm an idiot I guess and didn't realize levelling up skills was a separate thing from buying pins to augment the skills. So I played like a good chunk of the game with every skill at level 0 lmfao.

Easily my least favourite level is the first one, which I think is a bit unfortunate... I don't have, like, a dental phobia and I was still not really enjoying that part, and compared to how colourful and cool and imaginative the other worlds are it just seems like it starts the game off on a weird foot.

I know some purists are reading this like SO YOU PLAYED A GAME WITH NO DAMAGE AT ALL? Yep and I appreciate DoubleFine allowing me to do so. ✌🏻

And then onto the pros:

Like... everything else?

Playing Rift Apart this summer made me feel like a kid again, as a someone who grew up on cartoony platformers like Spyro and who still craves the satisfaction of first discovering you can charge that cracked wall and find an orb behind it. Psychonauts 2 had all that fun of exploring maps and finding secret, hidden locations and collectibles... on top of having the most creative and varied level design I've ever seen.

Seriously the levels were gorgeous. I was constantly spinning the camera around to take in all the little details, and there were SO MANY different levels where the gimmick would surprise and delight me. Almost every level for me was like "omg how did they think of that". Even when I was getting irritated by (for eg) the unruliness of trying to steer a giant bowling ball down a precise ramp, I was at least marvelling at the ingenuity involved.

The script was wonderful. Funny, charming, clever in its use of metaphor, and genuinely touching at times. If ever anything felt a little bit simplified, well, it's a kid-friendly game... I can't be too mad about that.

Raz is so endearing! It's very easy for the plucky young kid character to uh, become grating, but I always found Raz charming and I was rooting for him. Richard Horvitz is so good.

TBH all the characters were super lovable and funny. In a giant cast of cartoons I don't think there was a single one where I'd be like "ugh, this guy again" which is quite a feat honestly. They were all charming and well-acted and bursting with dialogue.

Even the random NPCs around the motherlobe who have their own progressing storylines via conversations... I love that detail! It was one of my favourite parts of Life is Strange: True Colours and I was delighted when I realized it was happening in this game too. It was fun to check in on some of your faves as the game progressed.

I'm pretty thorough, and I love exploring maps, and boy do these maps have a lot to explore, especially the hub areas. I STILL haven't figured out how to get everywhere in the Questionable Area, lol, or gotten every psy card, etc.

I like the music, especially the music in the quarry area that absolutely makes me feel like I am walking around Epcot. Perfect vibe. (And the Small World knock-off music in Nick's brain lmao...)

As soon as the projection started talking I was like, "this is GIR, right? This is intentionally a Zim and Gir thing?" So I felt validated by checking IMDB after lmao.

Ummm... I think that's about it. Honestly great game. I might give Psychonauts 1 another go... although I'd say there's a high chance I instead watch it on YouTube, lol.

I explained the choices under the cut, equal parts personal bias and objective opinion, so if you think differently then hey, good on ya!

Going down to up XD

The Silver Eyes Graphic Novel: Do I even need to explain this one? Rushed art with countless mistakes, horrid coloring, samey designs, the important scenes come off as bland and even goofy instead of impactful. It’s clear Pinky wasn’t used to drawing humans, the colorist had no idea what they were doing, and no one on the team made a graphic novel before. It’s laughable how bad this was XD

The Fourth Closet: Does anyone really know what happened at the end? I... really don’t like what they did with Charlie in this one. I don’t like how William was able to get out of his Springtrap- it was SUPPOSED to trap him, and yet he just... is out of it... I think the whole thing with Baby being like this hot clown girl instead of what she is in Sister Location is very... ... it exists... Tbh I respect the bold direction it took, but I honestly felt it was too much of a stretch and just didn’t work.

FNaF AR, Special Delivery: Not bad! The character models and voice acting is where the game shines most. Other than that, there isn’t really much substantial to the game other than some lore with Vanny/Ness and Luis. The gameplay can get frustrating sometimes(I cant collect remnant, read my mail, or even work on my own animatronics without DING DONG SOMEONES HERE every 5 seconds), and all you do is spin in a circle until you get glitchy, look away if they get glitchy, or zap them when they run at you. Some people probably love this game and good on them for that, but I find myself not touching it for weeks at a time.

Freddy In Space 2: GREAT game for charity, great art, great music! ... That’s all it has going for it, though. It was clear that this was a quickly made game designed to be beaten in one sitting, and it did exactly what it needed to do! Other than being amazing how it was for charity, the game doesn’t have that much going for it(except introducing Lolzhax aka BEST ROBO), so overall not bad but also did almost nothing outside of being for the Charity Livestream XD

Fazbear Frights, Into The Pit: Again, not bad! A nice collection of short stories, almost like goofy campfire horror you’d tell to kids... like goosebumps! I felt each story was REALLY lacking in some areas, but I liked the general idea they were going for. That being said, they’re moreso neat scary stories with the name FNaF attached than anything else(except maybe the first of the three). It hints that they have an overarching plot that will be covered in future books, but as of right now, I feel no one’s missing out by not reading them.

FNaF 3: A satisfying end to the original trilogy story! Purple Guy gets justice, everything gets tied together with a neat bow, and the first arc in the series comes to an end. Also Springtrap, aka my favorite. This game is riddled with neat 8-bit minigames and bits of lore, but the gameplay itself is where I find it not as good as the S A and B tiers. The new setup with the system reboots are def really interesting, but other than that, each night is just... the same thing but harder. Most other games introduce different characters on different difficulties per night, but since Springtrap is the only deadly one, it’s just... him more aggressive each night and systems failing more often. Makes the gameplay pretty repetitive and frustrating after Night 3 or so.

FNaF 4: The beginning of what I like to call the Afton saga(4, SL, FFPS, UCN)! This is when the lore began to get REALLY good... and also really confusing. Props for it taking such a bold direction by taking place in a child’s bedroom instead of in an office with cameras, its a neat change of pace! That being said, the gameplay can get frustrating and there’s a high learning curve for needing to listen to each sound the anmatronics make. Also lore wise... there really isn’t much! Just mainly focuses on what happened to this poor kid. Also the box still being a loose end... yeah.

The Twisted Ones: I enjoyed this one! It had a very interesting direction that kinda kept me guessing on what was going on, and this is when Scott really started nailing in the foreshadowing for the reveal in TFC. The Twisted animatronics are SO cool, and the introduction of those little alteration chips provided new context to games like 4 and SL! That being said, I don’t remember it being... that memorable? I also didn’t like how Charlie’s and John’s relationship was... so awkward... It was neat, but honestly nothing to really go crazy over, in my opinion.

The Silver Eyes: Honestly, I adored this book when I read it back in 2016, before Sister Location happened. At the time I wasn’t trying to connect it to any lore, so it was really great just to see a sort of retelling of the FNaF story. A lot of people complained about how long it was... I might agree if I reread it but tbh it never bothered me before. It was delightfully creepy, yet had a simple plot and wasn’t NEARLY as out there as TTO and TFC. Especially TFC. I felt this book didnt need 2 sequels and would’ve been just fine on its own, but whatcha gonna do. Carlton is forever my fav, and it’s the first time we really learn about Henry AND it was the first time we got a name for our Purple Guy: William Afton!

Sister Location: I like this one for just how bold of a game it was. I’m also including SL’s Custom Night wrapped into this package. Jam packed with lore, our first (main) game with VOICE ACTING, and honestly the humor has no right being as good as it is. I love how this not only expanded on the crying child from 4′s story, but also gives us so much Elizabeth and Michael content. The gameplay has a lot of unbalanced features and feels a little too over the place at times, but I appreciate where it was going with it!

FNaF World: ... This one is pure personal bias. A lot of people don’t like it. I adore it. Honestly I love the cute overworld, I love beating up enemies as my favorite animatronics, I love the horror, nihilism, and lore shoved into this game alongside SO MUCH humor. Update 2 was nothing short of an absolute delight and... wait, no!!! FNaF World had our first voice acting!!! So many endings and nods to other games Scott’s made, a cool scene with Desk Man/Henry and Baby, just... muah. Good content. Also Scott 57 <3

Ultimate Custom Night: Name a better way to end the Afton Saga, I’ll wait. It’s so obvious how much time, thought, and care went into this one. I love how the game rewards you with funny cutscenes the higher scores you get, and I just! So much voice acting! I love how each preset- no, each character has their own moves so every time you do a certain mode, you need to learn to manage them all and get a good strategy. I like how it’s way more strategy and skill than the RNG that many previous games had. Also, Scott!!! You managed to put this into the LORE by making it William’s hell, MUAH, couldnt have done it better!!!

FNaF 2: This one might have bias for being the peak of the fandom, but it was one of the greatest times to be in that fandom. Freaking out over the trailers, theories galore, prequel vs sequel, and just... so good. 1 didn’t have much plot, 2 DID. 2 had more mechanics and strategy to it than 1, and gave us over twice as many characters! We finally got a “face” to our killer, Mr. Purple Man, and how could I ever complain about more Phone Guy~? This one also introduced the 8-bit minigames, which became a HUGE staple for the series! Perfect expansion of the first!

Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator: The PERFECT blend of old and new gameplay. The salvage scenes are intense, the nights had a great balancing mechanic of juggling doing tasks while also avoiding animatronics, multiple endings, and a neat tycoon segment to give the player a breather... but with LORE!!! Midnight Motorist is easily one of the best tracks in the series. Also has a GREAT canonical ending, when(with paired with UCN), ties the plots of 1-6 SO nicely with a neat bow.

FNaF 1: Okay. From a personal and gameplay standpoint, I was going to put this much lower. Like B or C. That being said... this has to go in S. Yes, it has the least lore and arguably the worst gameplay(too much RNG for 4/20 mode), but this was the game. I can’t even exaggerate when I say just how much FNaF changed not only the gaming community, but especially the horror and indie communities. So many names got big from this: Markiplier, Dawko, Game Theory, The Living Tombstone, DA Games, SCOTT HIMSELF, just to name a few!!! And to think, this was originally going to be Scott’s last game! FNaF changed gaming HISTORY, and I think that alone makes this title deserving of S.

FNaF VR, Help Wanted: Okay, personal bias time, but I truly think VR deserves this S. Seeing Glitchtrap for the first time incited a panic in me that I hadn’t felt since FNaF 1 and 2. You get FNaF 1-4 in one, all in VR, WONDERFUL character models that you can WATCH MOVE!!! SO many minigames and fun challenges to play, so many neat knickknacks to collect, the Halloween update is FANTASTIC. The introduction of some great characters, such as: Glitchtrap, Vanny, Tape Girl, Dreadbear, Grim Foxy, etc!!! There’s also just- something so nice about being able to see every office and the pizzeria in 3D spaces where you can look around! Just from a gameplay and environment standpoint, this was an AMAZING addition and deserves the S.

A - Aftercare

Both coming right up! Under a cut for length because I have LOTS OF IDEAS!!

CATSEYE So I have a concept for the Evo version of the Hellions HERE but if we wanted to just do Catseye and not the whole Hellions team, I have another idea too! There start being reports of a big cat on the loose in a major city, assumed to be an escaped zoo animal or illegal pet. The X-Men are aware of it, but don’t consider it to have anything to do with them, until a photo of emerges of the beast transforming into a werecat-type form. Obviously this is mutant business now, so they fly out and go on a hunt for the creature, to find her before human authorities do! They succeed and, of course, it’s indeed a mutant, it’s Catseye! Rather than being unable to speak when they find her, I’d say she already has her sing-song broken syntax speech, suggesting she was abandoned as a child rather than a baby and thus retained language, she just hasn’t used it in a LONG time because she stayed in feline form most of her life, til said form got too big to be taken for a normal cat anymore. Rahne is obviously her bestie, they’re FREQUENTLY seen together, and Rahne really enjoys having someone she can run around in animal form with (Evo Rahne doesn’t seem to have the same issues/upbringing as 616, though she also didn’t get much spotlight in Evo either so I think we can hint at some slightly similiar stuff) They definitely get into LOADS of trouble, and there should absolutely be whole episodes dedicated to that! But another character she ends up being close to is X-23, who is a New Mutant by that time (and still going only by that name) A lot of people call X-23 “feral” but like...she’s not? Her entire existence is defined by captivity. She doesn’t act like a wild animal at all, not really, she acts like an ABUSED animal. Catseye, by contrast, is the truly free one. Everyone else wants to teach X-23 to be a person, which is definitely super important, but only Catseye shows her how to be an animal, beholden to nothing but her own natural desires and instincts. And Catseye isn’t doing this DELIBERATELY, it’s just her being herself. She also doesn’t look at X-23 as different from any other human, because she has no frame of reference for what a “normal” human is anyway, and that ends up meaning a lot to X-23 even if Catseye never knows it. Catseye also never calls her X-23. Catseye doesn’t call ANYONE by their actual name. She may call them by their codenames, but mostly she gives them nicknames based on their traits. She says this is because human names like Kurt or Sam don’t tell you anything about who that person is, but some codenames do (and some don’t, like Shadowcat, she’s not a cat, Catseye is a cat!) And...that gets X-23 thinking...she doesn’t want to be X-23 forever. She’s actually wanted to be called something else for a LONG time now, but she could never think of what. Because she doesn’t have an identity besides a weapon. But...maybe a new codename could be a good start? That’s how she starts going by Talon. She won’t start going by Laura until she meets Gabby. Catseye really frustrates and flusters Scott, as he really just has no idea how to deal with her? Deliberate troublemakers or the other kids being stupid are one thing, he’s mastered that, but Catseye just this entirely NEW thing. Jean is a bit more patient with her, but she can probably afford to be thanks to her powers letting her deal with Sharon easier (telekinetically stopping her, telepathically showing her something that she can’t verbally understand, etc) She also scares and upsets Amara, who is supposedly the “princess” of the bunch according to source material, and Amara’s reactions just make her keep going. She also has made it a game to try and catch Kurt (especially his tail, it moves around and she HAS to catch it!) because his powers make it such a challenge. She LOVES pouncing Multiple because of how he splits into duplicates when she does. A lot of people get fed up with her, and for good reason. Rahne will gently try to correct her in private, but in front of others, she ALWAYS defends Catseye----she didn’t hurt anyone, she doesn’t understand, etc. It’s expected by everyone that Beast will be her favorite teacher, that they’ll relate, etc., but in fact Beast shies away from her. It turns out that she reminds him of his own “beastliness” too much, his fear of becoming an animal on the INSIDE as well as in appearance, and it makes him uncomfortable to be around her, and then THAT makes him feel guilty because she’s just a child and he should be helping her. He gets this whole arc of coming to terms with this, with his fears, and then trying to connect with her...only for her to be totally disinterested in having him for a mentor, because their interests are totally different. Much like how Hellions!Catseye didn’t understand that the New Mutants were her enemies, Evo!Catseye doesn’t understand that the Brotherhood are the bad guys either. I can see her developing friendships with all them except Pietro. I think Wanda and Lance end up letting their walls down with her because she’s more like an animal than a person, so they don’t feel uncomfortably vulnerable being nice with her like they would with most people. With Blob, she’s not put off by his simple nature or intimidating size or his lack of social skills, since, as with X-23, she doesn’t know that these things aren’t “normal” or have any frame of reference to judge him by. And though she’s VERY intelligent, she’s also pretty simple too. And with Toad, again, she can’t judge that he’s “weird” and I don’t think his odor puts her off like it does other people. Cats are very clean creatures, of course, but their standards of what smells good and bad are different than humans. Like cats LOVE stinky socks! Pietro I think though would just not have any patience with her and not see any use in being pals with her. There has definitely been an AWKWARD AS HELL moment where she, in full human form, jumped into Prof X’s lap in front of guests/visiting parents. FABIAN Okay so LOTS of versions/ideas here! When I first made this blog, my idea for Evo Fabian was just...Duncan Matthews as a mutant. If you don’t remember who that is, he’s the jerkass blond football jock that Jean dates for a few seasons. He’d be a cocky, athletic asshole who hits on all the girls and is unbearable to EVERYONE. Total bully, total creep, gets recruited into the Brotherhood as a baby budding mutant supremacist with his sister, everything you’d expect. Then I actually started writing him and...it went differently than that? He ended up not being so much a Jerk Jock cliche as just a...pretty NORMAL guy? He’s simultaneously a little full of himself and a little unsure at the same time, in the typical fashion of teen boys, and he gets more unsure as he begins meeting other mutants and realizing how outclassed his powers are, which prompts him to try to be competitive with them, especially the other boys, which makes him come off as kind of an ass, especially when butting heads with guys who are already kind of prickly, like Lance. But he’s also like...he’s not CRUEL either, he can be nice and friendly and nervous too, and he actually actively looks out for Anne Marie. He’ll call her stupid and stuff, but he’s always got her back, and he sticks up for her when someone else calls her the same stuff or upsets her. He’s like...not so much “Fabian but a teen” as he is “Fabian BEFORE he actually became Fabian”? So less over-the-top delightfully fun asshole, but also more well-rounded and human. I also started thinking...would he be Brotherhood? Because a common factor of all the Bhood kids is that they seem to come from lower-class backgrounds and broken homes. Pietro and Wanda were abused and abandoned by their shit dad, Lance was in foster care when Mystique found him, Fred was in a truck show with no parents/guardians in sight and doesn’t seem to have ever attended school before, and Toad...we don’t really know, but I think it’s safe to say that any adults in his life either aren’t there or don’t care that he’s living in this shitty boarding house with no adult supervision half the time. Whereas I see the Evo Cortez twins as coming from a nice middle class suburban nuclear family, with good parents and a good support system and all. And I think that would make them harder for Mystique to exploit. She seems to prey primarily on kids with nowhere else to go, who no one else cares about. So maybe Fabian and Anne Marie might very well end up with the New Mutants/X-Men, which could be a lot of fun too! Just because teen Fabian is a human being and not GIANT IRREDEEMABLE ASSHOLE 616 FABIAN doesn’t mean he still can’t act cocky during training and get his ass handed to him, or try to flirt with every girl in his class (I think he’d like Amara best, she seems most his type, which makes me want to see Tabitha either try to keep him away from her or try to push Amara to “go have fun with the new hunk!” though tbh I ship Tabby/Amara SOOOO) But the difference is we could get DEVELOPMENT with that! Like maybe the reason he’s such a cocky asshole in training is that he’s embarrassed about his benign/passive/”useless” powers not being suited to combat, and feeling emasculated by it compared to the other guys. And the obnoxious hitting on the girls coming from not actually knowing how to talk to them normally, because the only girl he knows is Anne Marie, who is definitely not a mode for normalcy, and who only responds to/understands TOTALLY BLUNT BLUNTNESS Anne Marie should also get EVO’S FIRST SAME-SEX ROMANCE! So like...I feel like we could totally get a cute, human Fabian while still keeping his funny traits? And he’s A TOTAL JERK to the Brotherhood BIG TIME of course, like he considers them TOTAL TRASH, so there’s definitely still some “bully” there too! BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE! So, obviously the allure of Evo is it’s a canon high school au, we get all our faves as teens. But, some are still adults! Beast, Storm, Pro f X, Mystique, Magneto...what if Fabian was one of those? So, we see that in the future, Magneto himself will change sides and become a teacher to the New Mutants. That’s going to leave a big power vacuum, both in the universe and in the plot. So who steps up to fill it but...FABIAN CORTEZ? Which follows comics canon of him trying to usurp Magneto’s place as the leader of the radical mutant supremacy movement, just in this version he (probably?) didn’t try to murder him to do it, he just picked up where Magneto left behind, and uses the anger of Magneto’s former followers at Magneto “abandoning” them to his advantage. He basically gets to be the new Big Bad on the “evil mutants” side (and unlike the Brotherhood, he and his Acolytes will live up to the term!) and be the evil, over-the-top, over-dramatic Fabian Cortez we all know and...er, kinda love? And he can still be creepy too, just he only hits on the adults like Storm (and maybe Jean, who might be in college at that point) and probably his own lieutenants, as he’s doubtlessly recruited some new Acolytes. He’ll be 2D, sure, but Evo Magneto was a pretty irredeemable bastard too most of the time. Also, remember how the Brotherhood is shown to join up with SHIELD as adults? I wrote a fic last year in which FABIAN WAS ON THEIR TEAM

September - Launched!

Ok, let’s get the big bit out of the way first... we launched a game. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like that long ago that I was popping games into the app store on a fairly regular basis... but this month’s Dungeon Drop launch was actually the first in over 2 years. And I think there was over a year prior to that one to find another. So those days are clearly long gone. And it’s been a trip.

But hey, Dungeon Drop is out, and we’re really happy with it. If you haven’t tried it yet, it’s a free download on the App Store now.

The launch experience was a fun one, we’d had September 19th lined up for a while as the release date, and then a couple of weeks earlier Apple announced that Apple Arcade would launch on the same day. Bringing 50-100 premium mobile games that players could play for free with a trial subscription, or enjoy completely for only $4.99 per month. All starting on the same day as our little game. What do we do? We had a lot of suggestions to move the date, and we were pretty split on it for a while there, but we ultimately decided to go with the original launch date.

And it worked out well I think, we got one of the best feature spots we’ve ever had for the game in the App Store, I think probably our first US feature since Slambots in 2013... I guess maybe a lot of developers avoided that date and left us some air to work with? Either way. It got featured. A few people told me they liked it, and few even told me they bought the premium upgrade. So that was a great feeling, mission accomplished for Dungeon Drop.

Our next iOS game launches mid-November. We’ll post it for pre-orders later this month and share details then.

We hadn’t really used the pre-order feature prior to Dungeon Drop, but it turned out to be really useful for sharing the game info before launch. We didn’t need a separate web page to direct people to, or even really a video, people could just see the screenshots and app preview on the App Store for themselves. We did post a trailer for Dungeon Drop on Youtube and a couple of twitter videos or gifs, and those worked out well too... so we’ll definitely do that again next time around.

Anyway, I’m less concerned about that launch now, having seen Dungeon Drop get some play and positive response I feel happy with where we’re at with what we’re putting out. Now we need to turn that around and apply it to Monsters & Monocles.

Oh god. What the hell have I agreed to. Finishing this up is going to be a big thing. Ryan is a smart cookie, so fortunately the code is clean and organized. It’s just that there’s a lot of it, and it’s all Ryan’s and not mine. It makes more sense than mine would have, but I don’t instinctively know where to find anything yet. I managed to poke at a few bits, they seem to do what I expected them to do, and I think I can massage all the things I don’t like into something we’ll be happy to launch. I just feel massively overwhelmed right now. There’s a lot of layers to everything, there’s 3 different platforms they launched the game on, there’s the single player, local coop, and online multiplayer cases to consider in everything. And then there’s the stuff that Ryan wasn’t really finished working on when he left... some of those things are hard for me to distinguish from things that either weren’t done at all or have been finished for years. For now I’m really just trying to build a big picture of it all in my head without running off to the mountains first.

I think what I’ll be looking at this month will be a long overdue UI overhaul, because I feel like that’s going to be relatively painless to address. I’ll just need new designs and artwork from Craig and I think I can shuffle everything around and give it a nice new lick of paint there... and hopefully that’ll start to make it feel more like my game. In game, there’s a fair amount of broken or less than great camera stuff that I’d like to get working, which should give me some exposure to the NPC systems and what state those are in, and then I’d like to get things like the player death sequences cleaned up. I’ll be having to touch a lot of systems but I feel like I’ll build a pretty good understanding of a lot of it that way.

I’m hoping a lot of the existing systems like the map generation, basic physics and controls, and the network play, are largely sound for most of what a finished version of this game needs to be. Some of the npc/meta stuff will need an overhaul to create a roadmap to 1.0, and some of the systems like the enemy behaviors, weapons, characters might just need expanded on as they are.

Hopefully. Since the game is out there anyway and there’s only a few people reading this I’ll try to talk about it in a more open inside baseball kinda way as we try to wrap it up. I’m always more open on emotional or general aspects of how things are going, so it’ll be fun to try to be more open in addressing specifics. No promises though, I’ve never really tried this before.

Speaking of generalities, this month wasn’t bad really. Launching Dungeon Drop was a huge distraction that I kind of allowed myself, and then I got horribly sick taking my kids to a soft play place and lost a bunch of work there too. But I’ve had much worse months, and after pushing through finishing two games in a row I probably should cut myself some slack. I’m spending some time working in the same room as Craig this week, which helped a bunch with Dungeon Drop, although it’s kind of difficult with Monsters & Monocles since there’s so much to do and I’m so far off the pace on mastering the ins and outs of the project. If nothing else, having someone next to me gives me a good push to try something anyway.

Aside from working, I’ve been having a blast playing the goose game with my kids, they just laugh hysterically while the goose is horrible, and it’s awesome. Probably one of the best games to play with kids. I finished up Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle. That was great. My kids enjoyed watching some of the earlier battles and the story sections, but they got bored easily when the battles got longer and harder, and during the longer exploration bits. That’s actually kinda like me, tbh, although they did a great job of keeping the later battles challenging without becoming a huge grind or massively difficult. The difficulty probably spiked most in the second half of the second world and the first half of the third for me... There’s some extra challenges to play, I didn’t do those, and there’s more coop levels we didn’t play, those are fun too. Haven’t tried vs mode. 100% campaign and most of the collectables was about 30-40 hours, so a decent length, but my switch obviously can’t pull out kid aimless wandering or repeating time, so I don’t know exactly how that is. I could have shaved off probably 5-10 hours just by not wandering around looking for hidden chests, which mostly don’t add anything to the gameplay or give you any useful boosts, and involve a lot of back tracking and kind of boring wandering around (you’re wandering around beautiful worlds, but it’s mostly linear and you’ve seen it already).

Other games, we’re still playing Mario 3D World, but the kids are definitely tapping out on it a little, but it had a very good run. They love watching Captain Toad, so I got to play through the first couple of hours of that, it’s adorable, I hope I get to play the rest. But they like to try to play and it’s too hard for them, so they get annoyed. We’ve played a bit of Mario Kart, but they don’t really try to stay on the tracks yet, but I feel like they’re going to love that when it clicks. And weirdly they watched me play Twilight Princess for about an hour last night and both seemed to love it, so I might actually get to make some more progress in that. Although it’s rough going after Breath of the Wild, the rigidity and the camera especially make it feel it’s age, even in the HD remake. Off on my own I’ve been picking away at an old copy of Link’s Awakening with the hope of finishing it again before I eventually play the remake. It’s such a great game, I think it may have been the first Zelda I actually played through, since I never had an NES of my own.

Okay, I’ve gone on long enough, back to work, I’d better get going on something so I have some good Monsters & Monocles progress to report next month.

Episode 1 - "Time to put on a bra and take some selfies." - Leigh

Episode 1 saw eighteen players, some fresh faces, and some veterans arrive on the Indonesia beaches, ready to play and ready to win. On a somewhat quiet Obor tribe, Leigh/Trent bonded over the age difference on the tribe (with a cunning plan reliant on using the word ‘lit’) and Anabel/Trent begun to form a bond that would survive the test of time.

On the Cahaya tribe, Matt/Jess feared the casting of one another, and Julian arrived plucky and ready to avoid another prejury experience, determined to improve. Owen/Stoner quickly formed HOS 22: Bermuda, and set to work spreading their connections across the tribe, forming at trio with Julian.

After a decisive victory in the Scavenger Hunt, it was revealed the returnees would have to send two returnees to the other tribe as “infiltrators” casting a sole vote. In an attempt to force the result, Julian went “offline”, in an attempt seen-through by his fellow tribe mates, but one that was ultimately successful, with Owen & Julian sent over as infiltrators.

At Obor’s tribal council, Evan quickly emerged as an easy vote, for his minimal challenge contribution. Two key alliances formed, a newbie majority alliance of Trent/Chris O/Leigh/Anabel/Lorelei and a girls’ alliance of Lorelei/Anabel/Leigh, with Anabel armed with an idol to boot.

As expected, Evan was sent out unanimously, but not before Julian trashed on the Cahaya tribe during tribal council... in a tribal seen... by the Cahaya tribe. With Evan out, the torches still inspiring such hate, and the infiltrators returning... that drew round one to a close.

What's up. So this fox has returned after an eternity of a hiatus with more grey in his muzzle and hopefully some self-awareness to go with it. I played some pretty solid games in the past but after taking a long time lurking and sort of forgetting Tumblr Survivor Crooks asked if I wanted to play despite not knowing I have played before. That's how old and irrelevant of a has-been I am. Back from the dead. I'm glad my star has faded and I can go in with a blank slate. My biggest concern is that I am not on my anxiety medication so my social interactions, especially on call, will be a lot more stilted and I'm terrified this will impair my judgment but we'll see. Right now I'm not trying to come off as a huge strategist. I made an intentionally crappy intro video, made fun of myself, and just tried to be funny without coming off too weird/desperate etc. Almost like I'm not taking this too seriously. However, already I'm noticing a patterns in how people on my tribe are. I have no fucking clue who these mammals are. People will have extensive conversations about people, twists, running jokes, etc and I'm totally lost. That hiatus really did fuck with my ability to ingratiate myself with this community. That will be a huuuuge advantage coming to dealing with the newbies since I can leverage that to not seem so threatening but right now I think I'm doing a fair job being friendly and making people laugh. I hope. God. So my thoughts on my tribemates thus far: Stoner: Vaguely know who this guy is. Aptly named. He's clearly blazed as hell but I can tell he's bright and likable. Says "oh shit" a lot and he seems like depsite his facade he's probably someone I can work with. Isaac: We talked about Overwatch a bit and he seems nice but he's not coming on my radar too strong. Jess: Definitely made a fairly strong impression on me since we're similar ages, Francophone, and we bonded over our mutual detest and hatred of furries and then I calmly sneak in the fact I am a furry an hour later and holy shit I was trying so hard to not bust into tears. She's funny and likable and seems like she's someone I could work with. Matt: Talked a bit about me coming back. Very little in group call. Michael: Talked a fair amount about D&D and made some fun Upside Down jokes. Seems like we have a lot in common but him being a different time zone could prove hard to keep up with. Being the outlier on Time Zones is playing on Hard Mode. Olivia: Love her! We bonded over animals and she seems like a total sweetheart and I definitely wanna share pics of my cat with her some more! Owen: We talked a bit about literature and it was fun. Definitely seems intelligent and he's someone I know a bit about from Olympics. In an ideal world I'd want to work with Stoner, Jess, Olivia, & Michael but everything in on fire. Also, no luck on the idol so fuck me I guess

So coming into this game with a TS under my belt is different... I still have no expectations whatsoever BUT I do know how HARD people go for in these games and I'm planning to go just as hard. The first night was wild. Everyone on my tribe except for Matt and Julian were lively on the tribe call. Everyone seemed pretty cool and super... out there.. I think Isaac might be the one to watch on my tribe. He's been around the block and knows most people on my tribe (new and old). WHICH IS WHY.. I'm going to try my best and get super close to him. I need to make sure I'm not disposable to these "older players" and as asset to these "newer" players. I just know need to cool my jets on the whole socializing bit in the main chat (Yes I know it's literally day 1). I want to be as irrelevant as possible so no one thinks I'm a threat but no one really wants to get rid of me either. Gotta focus on those INDIVIDUAL RELATIONSHIPS. It's 2:30am so WHY NOT post ANOTHER confessional? Am I right? Honestly, we won which I'm BEYOND THANKFUL for. I hate tribal and I can now at least say I wasn't first boot. THANK GAGA. I'm just really trying to solidify things with Michael right now. I think out of everyone on my current tribe I can honestly see myself making a run at this game with him (at least up until merge). I offered him the prospect of sharing idol clues (it's literally the only collateral I have at the moment) so hopefully this doesn't bite me in the fucking ass. Other than Michael I was kind of hoping to somehow get closer to both Julian and Matt (plot twist I know). Matt has hosted me before and it's no secret he is a founding father of the "I Hate Jess" Club. However, these two seem to be the odd men out right now. What’s Up? WHAT’S UP?!?!?!? how dare you ask me such a ludicrous question. Alright so first real general confessional of the game here. I wanna eventually try and record some video confessionals, but that’s if i have the time. but for today, we’re good with a text. So starting off the game on the Cahaya Tribe, which consists of entirely returnees. So right off the bat it makes nervous bc i’m really not around much in the community. Yeah i’m in a few VL’s and i played once before, but i really don’t know anyone. So being the odd one out for that reason was a real fear for a little bit. Looking at my tribe, there are a few names that stood out the most to me. Owen stood out bc we both played Kuwait, and even tho we never met each other, we still have that little connection. Chris motherfucking Stoner is here too!! Chris is such a chill dude. we played together once before and i voted him out pre swap. But that game was so long ago, and i really don’t think he cares (i know i dont). So i’m looking forward to reconnecting with him. Jess is also here!! Jess and I had met previously because i hosted her in Celestial Komnata, and we had some rough misunderstandings there. But months have passed and I know that I am well over it bc i frankly don’t care. But i feel like she still probably cares which will not be good for me. Michael was the last person that stood out to me. Not because I know him, or know of him. But because he’s the only Non-North American in the cast, which means if i can stay up late and socialize with him, he might favor me over other When i looked at the other tribe, i think the only person i know is Anabel? We played together once, i hosted her, so we have somewhat of a connection that if we swap together, i hope that works in my favor. So on the first night of the game, i was very busy with Celestial All stars premiere, so i didn’t get to talk as much as i would’ve liked. which resulted in me telling jones on call like 5 times that i’m gonna be first boot. But the first night, i talked with everyone (to some degree) except Issac bc i forgot Issac was here. The torch twist thing i have no idea what it’s going to be and it worries me. My first thought is that it somehow would result in a third tribe bc there were six torches. so someone would light a torch and be placed on that tribe. But it’s too early to figure out what they even mean and i’m sure as the game progresses.

Woooo so what's happened. Well, we lost the challenge and it wasn't even close. I haven't looked at the spreadsheet to see the final scores but I feel like Me, Trent, and Anabell did the most work. I talked to a few people last night and put Evan's name out there cuz I know most people are too scared to say a name first and I feel comfortable enough about my position to be the one to say a name that most people should agree with. A mutual alliance formed between me, Chris, Trent, Anabell, and Lorelei. Within it, an all girls 3 alliance formed which I'm super happy to be part of. I'm sure Trent will be paranoid about that sooner or later so hopefully Chris and I can make him feel confident. Trent is sharing idol guesses with me so I'm hoping that means I'm like the closest person to him right now. I like the number of options I have so far.

I feel like Facebook might be falling out of style so maybe these youngin's don't even have it or aren't familiar with Facebook ORGs. The only other people here who know my history as far as I know are Foxx and Chris, and I hope neither of them bring it up. If I can stay UTR that'd be nice. Also, I think I need to stop capitalizing letters/using punctuation if I wanna fit in with these kids. Did I already confessionalize that? Not sure.

So far I think the game is going alright. My tribe is incredibly quiet for some reason but I guess that isn't too bad. I made a connection with Anabel and Leigh pretty early on. Decided to suggestion and alliance and both we in so I added Chris and Lorelei so we had a majority. This is the alliance I wanted from the beginning. I wanted the older people to stick together and then add in one young one. I think it's a pretty solid idea. Ive been messaging both kenny and dylan as well. I don't want an alliance with them, but I would like for them to like me and want me to stay in. I also think im getting along pretty well with the two infiltrators right now. Julian was spilling all kinds of info about his tribe to me this morning and then me and owen connected really well. Hopefully this will help me in the future if there is a split soon.

i feel like i did pretty good on the scavenger hunt. i managed to scoop up a bunch of items that were left over and some that were high points. so i do feel good about my performance and think i pulled my weight. Speaking of pulling weight...Julian is...there. I think he only submitted one item which was the Vine. I mean i get you have work and are busy, but like...most of us were the same? even issac who was celebrating his birthday did more. after challenge results we got on call in the tribe chat (olivia, chris, michael, myself). and we were talking about the infiltrator twist and the challenge results. We agreed to have myself and Olivia go, but we needed 5 for a majority. Julian shows up and says he “might wanna go tbh”. and then disappears. We’re on call laughing bc we wanna submit this and not randomize it, so someone who isn’t here gets forced to go. BUT JULIAN won’t talk in tribechat even tho we’re all like, “hey we’ll take turns and you can go next time.”. but no. Julian is only talking in olivia’s pm’s and she’s telling us whatever he’s saying. eventually the hour is up, and julian got randomized to go. that fucker strong armed us into randomizing and he still went god damnit. I think that call was good for my game because we were just chatting for like 1.5 hours about the game stuff and people. After michael/chris left the call it was just Olivia and myself on call and we stayed on for another hour and a half(????? ish??? probably less i can’t remember). But that was a nice call and i think helped start to solidify a bond. Olivia is someone i can see myself working with in this game. Same goes for Michael and Chris. I feel like that call group was pretty natural and we got along really well. I’m too nervous to initiate any kind of alliance talk, but i know it’s gonna have to happen eventually. i’m sure alliances already exist on the tribe and i’m obviously not in them. I think for starters, i need to work on conversations a bit more, because they are somewhat weak right now. My goal for the future is to work on olivia, michael, chris and owen. Those are the people i feel most good about. Foxx is cool but idk it seems hard to gel with them. Julian is cracked and i hope he’s our first boot. and the four of us on call forgot issac was on the tribe so that’s not good for him. i think i’m in a decent position for now, but i’m not gonna count my chickens before they hatch (i think that’s the saying idfk)

It does hurt me to have voted out, but it was a move that had to be made. Now, I am heading to F4. I need to take down Apollo which means I have to give my everything in this next immunity challenge. No matter what it is I have to be certain that Apollo's hands are away from the necklace.

Felix

This reward challenge is very important to me. It is so much information at the palm of my hand. I can pretty much almost taste the victory if I had that. I think I did pretty good in the challenge, though. 27 isn't a bad score by any means. Hopefully no one just God Modes their way through and gets like 10. Boris still wants to work with me, but I have a feeling it's a lie. I know that at the first chance he gets at F4, he'll get me out. I can't rely on no one from here on out. I need these immunities.

Felix

Joey is still my pet goat after all. He's feeding me all the information that Apollo is feeding him. I can still rely on him at this point. I can't believe he won the reward though. It's the most useless player with one of the most powerful rewards. At least that keeps it out of the hands of my enemies though. Boris is practically begging for me to take him to the final. I still haven't decided yet whether or not I should bring him considering once Apollo is gone that he'll be the biggest threat to me winning. His fight with Apollo is a good thing because it means that the two of them are going to gun for each other. That puts me in a safe position to not get voted out. Plus me instigating it to go public helped surface it for all to see and resentment to rise. Apollo thinks he is so slick by telling Brianna and Joey that he is targeting one of me or Boris. Whichever one doesn't have immunity is his target, but jokes on him. Everyone wants him gone. I can't believe he dropped out in one of the most important immunity challenges. Though he could have the merge idol which is probably what he's banking on. That's why I can't let Brianna have this immunity. Otherwise it ruins everything and Joey would go in the end. Finally, Brianna is the last one left. She wants to turn on Apollo which is her best move. Plus, I have finally talked to her in rounds. I'm planting seeds already to make sure she would be willing to take me out of everyone here. Hopefully she trusts me judgment and takes into consideration what I have said.

Guess apollo is going bye bye because of Felix’s power which I’m okay with. Kind of wanted Apollo to go this round anyways.

This opal idol has guaranteed me the victory. And it wasn't luck that got me this. It was my social game through and through. It enabled me to figure out which places were already searched. Then, it allowed for me to convince Boris and Lys to give me the two halves such that I had control of the idol. Nothing is in my way to claim this victory now. I have Boris throwing the F4 comp to me AND have planted seeds with Brianna on getting him out. I think I am doing well for myself this late into the game. I might actually be able to win.

Felix

Apollo is trying to get everyone paranoid in order for them to keep him. He's probably spinning a tale of lies yet again. He's done it with Joey as of this confessional. I got Joey off of that though so hopefully Apollo will leave now. Apollo has to go because, as Joey says, he WILL win if he makes it to the end. Then there's Boris who is coming up to me asking about the plan for next round. He is afraid for things to go to fire, but I have to let him know that it isn't going to go to fire because he will be gone, 3-1. I think Apollo is definitely getting into his ear about what happens next round. My move should be that I will go to fire in place of Boris if he's that paranoid. Because it is best for everyone's game if Apollo goes now.

Getting Lysandre out was so satisfying tbh, and to hear all these compliments from everyone saying how I’m a threat and how they respect my game. Also to head Joey say that I would win in a near unanimous vote from the jury. Just makes my heart swell. Little do they know I’ll be here for the last battle. If I can win this last challenge, maybe I can win this whole thing.

I cannot believe that Apollo has an idol. I suspected there was a merge idol, but there was legit nothing I could do about it. Now he's going to the F4 and we NEED to take him out, otherwise we are going to lose. I just have to hope like someone has an idol nullifier and plays it on him. Maybe that was what Brianna got from the auction which would be very useful at this point.

(FELIX VOTE)So, winning the reward was what I needed for this game. I was able to articulate my plans to the jury, clarify things they didn’t know, and receive feedback for the remainder of the game. I’ve known Boris & Brianna were my best chances at winning for a while, and the jury confirmed I need to take out Apollo and Felix to accomplish my goal. The original plan was to vote Apollo, but once the idol was played I became the swing vote once again. I knew now was the chance to take out Felix, but he did not react well. It’s frustrating to get so much hate for this, but I don’t regret my vote. I’m confident that I have what it takes to win the next immunity and take out Apollo, and go on to win the game.

I used both of my advantages properly and I’m so happy and grateful both worked out. I was just expecting Brianna to go home but I got an even better end of the stick. Also turns out Brianna was a double catfish so she’s gone. So now it’s down to 3. I’m literally at Disney world so I don’t have time to do the challenge but I suppose I’ll try a little. I feel like if I win this fic then I win the game, If I don’t? Then I’ll still enjoy the rest of my vacation and hope Boris somehow keeps me over Joey idk. Felix said he had a lot of respect for me as a player so maybe he can bring that energy with him to the jury and sway Cassie who seems to hate my ass for some reason. I am SO pissed. Apollo came to me during the immunity challenge and was preaching about us sticking together and being a f2 like we had planned. Let me emphasize again that HE came to ME. So he wins and I'm expecting him to take me, but then he comes to me with this bullshit saying he's voting me because he "might as well stick to being the villain" like bitch WHAT. He says he thinks he would lose to me even though he's the CLEAR frontrunner in this f3. To me he's abandoning all morals he had in this game so yeah if he actually votes me out there's no way I'm giving him my jury vote.

Today no one has been online so our tribe has been quiet. But we have our alliance together so thats good.

Okay so this challenge is interesting...it really could be anybody's game. Luckily I know Brian is really good with music so I'm hoping that will come in handy for us. Other than that who tf knows. I just hope we stay safe.

This music video challenge is really hard. Hopefully we could pull another win and stay safe again. It would really suck if we would lose this challenge.

so I just woke up. like ~ 6-7 hours after the challenge announcement. AND THESE FREAKS ARE ALREADY DONE. WTF LET ME HELP.

no no. For real. I am so happy, I am not used to a tribe working this well together in challenges. I am SO SO HAPPY

We actually just murdered the challenge. We finished it in like less than 12 hours. We are beasts at these challenges. I just really hope that we got them all right because that gives us a great shot at winning. Even if we lose I'm in a great spot with Four of a Kind and Nicole is an obvious first boot. But I would still love to keep this win streak going for a little while.

I swear, I go offline for one night... I come back and literally EVERY song is done... I mean go on carry me to immunity thats fine.

So the last couple of days has been quiet since we did win immunity again, but I do have some tea to spill in here, and I love spilling tea hehe...

So I got nothing from my trip to Wonderland, but that's OK! I'd rather get nothing then get something bad for my game. In addition to that, though, the more juicy ish is that Sharky told me that Maynor is trying to get a group together of the 4 men not including me (or Nicole, obviously). He probably already succeeded in that, but I do know, based on what Sharky said, that their first target would be Nicole followed up by me. "It's not that Maynor doesn't like you, because he does, but he just thinks this is the group." Maynor better hope that I don't swap with him because I do not mind having to flip on his ass and send him home at this point. I'd love to stick to tribal lines and think I could find comfort in them if we swap, but I also literally don't care if I wasn't included in an alliance.

So while I know I have Sharky with my back and Maynor not with it at all, that still leaves Charlie, Nicole, and Dennis. Nicole doesn't really talk much to anyone, so I'm kinda just gonna sneak in over the next 24 hours and make sure to solidify something with her so that I could work with her if need be. Dennis and I talk from time to time, but I think if I can play on the fact that we both play League more, then I can solidify something with him... and Charlie and I talked about something between the two of us already, so I feel good there, but he didn't warn me about the Maynor alliance thing, so I know he doesn't trust me fully yet (which, might I add, just shows how I have to keep him at a distance). I feel like if we can win this challenge and potentially swap next round, I will so amazing... because I might swap onto a tribe with a bunch of amazing people that will help me kill some of these annoying hoes on my current tribe (I'm looking @ you, Maynor). My tribe's kinda hard to talk to, so I really need this... I need Marie... Godt... help me tf out because I am DYINNNGGG.....

I worked on videos 2 and 3 last night and almost finished it except like missing 2 songs. When i woke this morning, tribe finished all of video 1 and the 2 that i was missing. I really like our tribe, its really active and they work hard on the challenges. Going to be sad when there is a tribe swap, hopefully i get some of my alliance with me or Brian. Atleast someone i could work with.

Our spreasheets is being locked. I hope that we have the right answers. I really want to win again so hopefully we win immunity again.

Soooo I woke up and the tribe had finished our challenge before I even got to contribute....annoying because now if we lose I’ll be booted for not helping. Still I’m having fun even though I really only talk to Dennis and Charlie.

We won. Again. I wish I had something more interesting to say but I'm in a majority alliance, on a physically dominant tribe, I know who has the idol, and I'm feeling super comfortable. The only thing that worries me is an impending swap. In that situation idk what I would do…

O M G. We won by 1 point. I literally died and came back. Im so happy that we are safe again. Only thing is I’m nervous about us being ‘recommended’ to be online tomorrow. Maybe its nothing and I’m looking into it too much. Lets hope the swap is after one more vote. But who knows cuz it could be swapped into 3 tribes of 5.

Our tribe are such kings, yet another win!! Despite the happiness of being safe, I am kinda worried. If our entire tribe makes the merge it just makes us targets, and honestly I don't see the point. Nicole isn't really online much and from what I can gather it doesn't seem like anyone is closely allied with her.

Yes, what I'm saying is that we're considering, let's say, "Not putting our best effort" into this challenge. Dennis and I have talked about it already, and I do think it's for the best. You only have to look at the healers in HvHvH to see why it's not a good idea to always win!

I hope it's not a live trivia challenge. Cos I love those and it will suck if I have to not try my best on it.

One point... really? I had to log off because I needed to be up early in the morning. There are two people that did absolutely nothing for the challenge. They had 24 hours to do at least SOMETHING, and then we would have won. But no.

NO do i want to go far with her in this game? NO is she probably a great person? MAYBE but i dont want to take chances and im gonna be pretty limited at the begging of this game so hopefully the will let me survive long enough to establish myself apart of this game.

"So I like a lot of my tribemates which is cool because if I didn’t I would have quit night one and thrown all the rice in the fire. There’s a ton of Lago representation, which I’m not surprised about, but am v concerned about. It’s like when you were in like 7th grade and you had those friends you talked to every day and then summer came and y’all didnt talk for a while and you come back for 8th grade and things are chill and you catch up, but they still know you’re better than them in every way.

"this is going to sound completely under believable but it’s all true and happened day while I was in the the Acadia Mountains on a afternoon hike. So I was walking having a very nice time enjoying a new trail I’d never taken before. It was longer than most and seemed to never end, I almost thought I was going around in circles. When I was finally about to give up my gps went off saying I was near a geocache! So like any normal person I went to go it. When i found the capsule it began to glow. Strongly and brightly it started to shine. I’d never seen a geocache this big so I decided I was going to take it the I noticed something weird on it it had names next to dates on it. I had no idea what this list meant or who these people were, I’d so find out. I started my way back to my car but never made it back that day. Once I began to try and leave the geocache started heating up. It became so I dropped it. I would’ve ran off then and there but I started hearing a voice. “Give me what I want and I’ll give you what you want!” Said the dark and gargled voice. “What do you want?” I said quickly to scared to think of anything else to say. “Your soul!” Whisper little voices so close to my ear I could feel there lips nibbling on my earlobes. Wow first confessional after immunity, we stan a mess. So before anyone can get situated we get our challenge thrown at us and of course it is something I am actually terrible at: WRITING. Hun I cant write for shit. But I came up with a great idea that I thought would really sell the judges being the 7 deadly sins. However there are 10 people so 3 would be the ones who find the geocache and use the items in it to fend off the other 7 who are possessed by the sins. Everyone was like super excited for it, but Sarah didn't use it in the writing, which is upsetting since I really wanted to be sloth and be fended off with like Nyquil or something, but aye that's how shit is. Now I guess its time to get these bitches on my side and find out who to get rid of.

so we lost. Obviously i'm not thrilled about it but I'm not filled with rage or anything like that. If i go home first I'll be a little surprised but I don't think thats going to happen. I just know I told dan and sammy individually that i want to work with them and heather is someone who dan trusts. Sammy and Dan played lago together so hopefully they'll be on good terms. This way Dan can kind of be seen as the leader of the group and if anyone tries to take a shot at the grouping later down the road it will be his head on the line and not mine. As for who goes home at tribal? I don't think people will vote for Quil or Dana as not to stir the pot. We can't vote out Sarah. It would be mcfucked if we did that to her. Umm so we tribe swapped and MY TRIBE SUCCS EGGS!! it’s me and Sarah with jay, ruthie, trixie, and Madison. Ironically despite how inactive our tribe is we have the most members at this point in time. "So... is no one trying at these challenges? I'm really shocked that I'm actually dominating every single one of these. I normally do well in challenges, but I've performed better than i ever have before. Its definitely because i'm worried about my place on this tribe. Being that we havent gone to tribal yet, there aren't solidified alliances. I've also had no one start a conversation with me. The conversations I've started with people have never lead to any sort of alliance building either. It makes me believe that I could try to be blindsided because I'm the strongest in challenges and that the merge is on the horizon. I wouldn't put it past these people honestly. I know I have luke in my corner, but stoner is a huge wildcard to me, especially since he's both saved me and burned me in the past. We had a weird relationship in Alcatraz, and it makes me hesitant to trust him in this game.

"Hello well all of the conversations about this game spicing up at merge were true because this cast is fucking CRACKEDT and I have no idea what's going on. I'm in an alliance with Duncan, Madison and Dan... Quillynn, Trixie and Dana expect me to vote with them so I'm kinda stuck between two threesomes but Dan wants to talk to me privately in a few about something and I think it's about the same thing I wanna talk to him about. It's about us being STUCK because we're expected to vote a certain. All I know is my name hasn't been brought up so that's good.

After this round, depending on which way to go I want to work with the group I don't betray, Dan and Carson. I think it'd be smart of me. I just need to talk with Dan before we decide what's going on. Will keep you posted. "

God this round was kind of a hot mess for me. So my main concern going into the merge is not being a target. I knew coming into the merge people would see me as a threat based on my performance in challenges. So my first order of business was to throw the immunity challenge since I would still be among other challenge threats (luke and dan) if I don’t win. Next, I made sure I was still good with my alliance of quil, Dana, and Tim. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s best for me to continue with that alliance. So I went ahead and made a side alliance with Duncan. I view him as a HUGE threat to win, but i feel better going to the end with him knowing I can beat him in immunity challenges. My old alliance is full of wildcards. So at this point, I’m pretty much aligned with everyone, which is both terrifying and exciting. I have been on tribes with Sammy and heather for the past few rounds. Luke and I are super close. I have a new alliance with Duncan that was formed to redeem ourselves from Alcatraz. Dan and Madison are allies of Luke and Duncan respectively, so I need to work on my social connection with them bc jury management. I’m starting to see a path to the finals, but more on that next round. I need to go run errands!!

I wouldn’t be surprised at all of Dana/Trixie/Luke team up against me and Sammy but also I really want to hope that Luke and Dana will go with the winners to the end mentality. I just realistically don’t see a winner winning if it’s not 3 winners at the end. The jury is fucking bitter bc it’s an all stars season and their entitled asses are just gonna have to get over it.

Realistically I don’t see me having many big moves on my resume besides the Heather vote last round. I think Heather needed to go because she really called the shots at the live Tribal with her vote and she’s someone that is likebale to the jury. This game I tried to get all the lago people out because none of them want me at the end again. The next to go in theory is sammy but I think I might try to give Trixie the boot tbh. Sammy is someone who could win final immunity, but let’s be real the kid lives at camp rn or some shit so maybe he won’t even show up again.

I really wanted to try to have a game with a bit more complexity than my first game but I think I ended up playing pretty similarly. This time I tried to hold off before winning comps and now look at me I’m slaying. But socially I think I faultered a few times in this game and I’m ready to face that bitter af jury"

This could very well be my last night in the game and it's super bittersweet. I hate that it's coming down to this fricken comp. I can't figure some things out because some things never got posted on the blog.... *EYES CAMERON AND OLIVIA FROM ACROSS THE ROOM* but anywho, Dana isn't giving me a straight answer about what's going on with everything and I just wanna die. Like Sammy told me he didn't do the comp, which is cool and will self vote to force the tie and then throw fire making, so like now that this confessional has taken a turn for the better I think I'm good (: hehehehehehheehhehehehee.
