The Lament For Icarus (1898) by Herbert Draper
The Lament of Icarus
The stories will tell you
That my wings were fragile
That my feathers were bound with wax
And the heat of the sun was my demise
But as I lay here in the laps of my would-be saviors
I find my wings intact
I am still blinded from the sun
But under my hands
They feel the same as they did
In my father’s workshop
Soft and strong and free
The stories will tell you it was my hubris
And the heat too close to the sun
But the truth is that my hands are weak with chill
My toes bitten with frostbite
My skin chafed by icy wind
Apollo is not a warm god
When he showed himself to me the first time
It was in a dark corner of our prison
Shrouded in shadows and frost
I did not believe he was the sun
He whispered the idea of wings
Into my father’s ear
As I watched from that same corner
Eager to be free
Free with him
He told me the sky would be warm
He told me I would make it high enough
If I could just make it high enough
He would bring me home to him
The tips of my fingers are wet
From the ice dripping from my feathers
And the ocean I plummeted so far into
This stone, even shaded by cliffs
Is warmer than my sun god ever was
My would-be saviors are crying, now
Nymphs, maybe, or dryads
One with her arm beneath my head
Her skin, cooler than any human’s would be
Is warmer than mine
With her hand pressed to my ribcage
She can tell my oh-so-human heart
Isn’t beating
In the shade of these ivory cliffs
I am shielded from Apollo himself
His glare
But I can still feel his gaze
He knows I am dead
Perhaps he meant it that way
Perhaps I was an idle game of gods
Or perhaps
He intended to free me
From the cold grasp of life
Into the warm cradle of death

[cross-posted from the creative corner forums, link in rb]
1. milton, the mossy pohip
summary: the coliseum team - rosie, florence, and belvedere - spar with beastclans, and come up against a mossy pohip.
-----
Rosie clacks her teeth, gnashes at the air, making that wretched sucking sound with her tongue against the back of them. Her nerves, her anticipation, and Florence is more than understanding, but the sounds grate at his nerves and if she carries on for much longer there'll be a friendly-fire tussle about it. Belvedere will watch, nonplussed, possibly calculating whether it'd be worth it to patch either one up afterwards - should there be any wounds at all, that is, which is unlikely despite the aggravation.
"Rosie."
She pauses, eyes wide as she tilts towards him. She blinks once, twice, thrice, in rapid succession - the absolute picture of innocence.
"My dearest..."
"Ye-es, sweet Flori?"
She teases him, rotten Tundie. He lunges at her with a snap at the air near her face, and she laughs, giggles, half-stepping back. Crowds in closer, as though he's about to nip at her face, then-- drags his tongue flat across her face. Rosie splutters and laughs again, trying to get away.
"You do that on purpose, dear."
"Oh, sometimes!" Her grin is as wide as a summer's day is long: unabashed.
"You two should get ready," comes in Belvedere's even tone, "I see a couple of Deer getting bored."
"A throuple of Deer," Rosie 'corrects'.
"... yes... of course."
Rosie hums, pleased with herself, leading the way, and the two larger dragons follow suit.
***
Wood Ear and White Rot Deer; Lilium and Petalmane Floron; Travelling Garden and Terra Tortoise; Rosaline and Buttercup Strangler; Fingi of Moonlight and Sage; Alstroemeria and Myosotis Foxes; Aspen Gall Dryad and Barkskin Watcher; Five-toed and Venomtooth Pilco; Frostbite and Sunbeam Dryard; Maned and Flora Cerdae; Palefoot and Ruffletail Tadhop; Grove Piper and Spotted Faun - all fought, all vicious, all for the sake of fun. Some were more willing to talk afterwards (but offered little in the way of contacting them again), others preferred to move on immediately post-spar.
And still, after a good long afternoon of sparring, Rosie still itched for another round. Belvedere was tending to a minor wound, and mulled it over, and Florence was in two minds about it: go home to rest, or finish with one last round, a flourish.
They agreed.
Such hubris granted them the audience of a Mossy Pohip.
"... Ah."
"Mm."
"..."
The Mossy Pohip grinned at them, lumbering closer to the coliseum clearing.
"Good evening, little hatchlings." The voice booms, low and bassy across the clearing, and he receives a muted chorus of 'good evening' in return. "Let us fight!"
Rosie nods, shaking, but still hoping for the best - whether they win or lose (and quite frankly, she's sure they'll lose), it should be fun.
The Pohip surged, a beast of such phenomenal power that it didn't matter if he was accurate or not, his attack still shook the ground and caused even Belvedere to tremble and waver. Rosie's Mana Bolt and Enfeeble was little use against him; both Florence and Belvedere's Scratching seemed to slide right off of the Pohip, barely giving him pause; Eliminate just about worked, but even then the Pohip never faltered. His jaws would come close, incisors large and crushing, as he'd sling a Mist Slash at either one of them, or cast Shroud to blind the two Arcane dragons, leaving Belvedere to flounder unassisted.
They lost, of course, with Belvedere being the last to collapse on his side, exhausted and on the verge of passing out; Florence was still clawing at the ground, despite being so winded, and Rosie had already lost consciousness, limp on the ground. The Guardian watched as the Pohip came closer, apparently wanting more from his winning.
"I must say, little hatchlings," he boomed again, only just causing Rosie to stir with a groan, "you all gave quite the fight, but I have won, and so must collect my prize."
Prize? Belvedere frowned; this was all for the sport of it, there was no prize.
"And I must say... I am rather... hungry."
Oh. Oh no. The Guardian struggles, manages to skitter backwards, only bearing both Florence and Rosie in half a mind, hoping the Pohip focuses on him rather than his wards (his friends), even when his heart is hammering away in a panicking hummingbird rhythm. He doesn't get far, too exhausted, and the Pohip too persistant even if he wasn't. His breath hitches as the Pohip gets closer, jaws wider again, teeth glistening with saliva, closer, closer, closer--
Then the Pohip pulls back, holding his head aloft and his mouth now mostly closed. Hm?
"But... I am a... vegetarian." Then the Pohip grins, and laughs, and it is as booming as his talking voice, so much that Rosie claps a paw over her ear, and it disturbs nearby birds from their resting places.
"A good fight from you all! What a good fight!"
He stays for a little while as the three dragons recuperate some, allowing Belvedere to rest against him. Tells them his name is Milton, and it's more than even the friendliest of previous sparring 'enemies' had given, so they lean into idle chatter for an hour: chatter about preferred climes; talk of ideal holiday destinations; favourite vegetables and fruit; Milton mentions a crush on a Flowering Pohip called Florentina.
When the three are able to stand without wobbling, Milton bids them a goodnight, and they the same to him. On the way home, they consider whether or not to fib a little - say they won every fight, yes even against a Pohip. Rosie decides against it, deciding a little humility for one's hubris - her own, no-one else's (although Florence would call it arrogance) - would be worth it.
-----
can't end these things satisfactorily enough to save my life lol but anyway this was a fun little exercise :^)

Okay but which subspecies of Fay are they
For the record I am counting mythological creatures, cryptids and yokai as Fay
Amity Liminals
Danny- Banshee (it’s half ghost half fairy)
Sam- Lampad (underworld nymph)
Tucker-???
Valarie- Swan Maiden (suit acting similar to swan cloak)
Ellie- puck (mischievous)
Jazz-???
Wes- clear sighted mortal (plus he’s a red head)
Vlad- Strigoi (vampiric ghost)
Jack- giant/troll/ogre (size + kool aid man)
Maddie-???
Paulina- Dragon (amulet of Aragon)
“Ghosts”
Ember- Siren (obvious)
Frostbite- Yeti (obvious)
Amorpho- Changeling (tried to take Danny’s place)
Fright knight- Bogart (hidden in suit of armor)
Spectra- dementor (feeds off depression)
Gotham liminals
Scarecrow- dementor (feeds off fear)
Batman- shadow demon (obvious)
Nightwing- Sylph (wind spirit)
Catwoman- Cat-Sith (fairy cat)
Poison Ivy- Dryad (obvious)
Huntress- Harpy (bird of prey)
Harley Quinn- Maenad (follower of god of madness)
Red Hood- Reverent (obvious)
Joker- Reverent (won’t stay dead)
Tim Drake- Kitsune (expert liar and trickster)
Cass- Shadow demon (obvious)
Duke- Will o the Wisp (light fairy)
My new favorite HC is that the Infinite Realms is Faerie. Danny died and is brought back by the magic of Faerie, making him more half Fae than he is half ghost. He’s been raised by the Fentons, though, who believe that Faerie is the Ghost Zone and that they’re ghost hunters, and so Danny, Sam and Tucker all just assume that he’s half ghost.
The Infinite Realms, however, are in fact infinite, and most of the ghosts Danny fights are in fact the spirits of humans who died in a place where the barrier between worlds was exceptionally thin, like ley line intersections or natural portals. They don’t realize that Danny isn’t actually half ghost because halfas are so rare. When Danny defeats Pariah Dark, he becomes King of the Infinite Realms (King of Faerie) after which his Fae qualities begin bleeding into his human half too. (Liminal Sam, Tucker and Jazz meaning they also start having Fae qualities? Team Phantom making everyone just slightly uncomfortable because they’re just a little too inhuman. Like uncanny valley vibes, they’re all just a bit off, but they’re just vibing completely oblivious to it. Ellie is like Puck from midsummer nights dream. Team Phantom eventually all becoming more Faerie than human through exposure and connection to Danny.)
If we go DPxDC on this, the liminal Batfam being just slightly off the way Sam Tucker and Jazz are, something people chalk up to them being bats, but Jason coming back more like Danny, a little more unsettling than the others.
The Speedforce being another corner of the Infinite Realms, and the Flash Family sometimes smile just a bit too wide, sometimes laugh just a bit too brightly, sometimes when people are around them as they run, they get the inexplicable urge to join in and never stop. (Flash Family being like the Wild Hunt or like the dancing until you die thing.)
The first time Team Phantom meets the Justice League + Constantine, everything in Constantine is screaming to stay as far away as possible from them, but the Flashes and Bats just completely disregard his warnings. The Kents and Diana also ignoring him because their nonhuman physiology means they don’t have that instinct to run. Damian thinks being around Team Phantom feels like being around the League.

Anthropomorphic ghosts are an exception to nearly anything that can be said about ghosts. They aren’t formed from a black hole; they are initially created by a blanket covering nearly everything this side of reality. Humans constantly have ideas, they’re always trying to explain, but honestly? There are so many contradicting opinions, it takes forever for those ideas to congeal into a coherent whole.
So instead, weaker versions of the concept are created. A cheerful nature (nature as in 'yay plants’, not ‘things are just like this’), an angry nature, a peaceful nature, and they can instinctively tell they need belief. They begin appearing to people; there used to be hundreds of dryads or nymphs or whatnot, appealing to humanity for their continued existence.
But eventually, one of the versions wins out. If they were a dust cloud out in space, this would be the time when it begins gravitating towards one point and collapsing down to a star. Violent nature defeats peaceful nature, and eats it, consuming that weak pseudo-core to strengthen its own. They are the same idea, compatible to absorb in such a way. And it happens again and again until eventually, there’s just one left, one who has grown strong by eating of its own kind.
Most ghosts prefer not to think about it. Conceptual ghosts (those that survived, at least) are powerful and it’s best not to aggravate them. A large reason many ghosts have a survival-of-the-fittest mindset is because personified ghosts, some of the earliest influential ghosts, did too.
Or at least, many of them. The yetis in the Far Frozen are the rare example of conceptual ghosts that, instead of strengthening their cores the easy way, relied on teamwork. It took a while, but they were able to form solid cores by reinforcing their identities and occasionally messing with humans to spread rumors. By using technology they were able to fend off some of the more powerful winter spirits that wanted to consume them, and now they peacefully coexist within the cold biome of the Far Frozen.

Lanterns | Terraria Reader Insert
Tumblr media
A/N: Yes, I made an actual fan fiction for Terraria. After five years of not playing, I have returned to realize that the NPCs actually have a personality! Being entertained by my interactions with them, I decided to write this.
A lot of this is referenced to the in-game quotes and events by the NPCs, in addition to my frustration of world exploring. Enjoy!
Word Count: 1980
Summary: You returned to town to find a party being thrown for you. This time, they had a different idea for a celebration.
Reader: Second-person. Gender-neutral pronouns are used if any.
Characters: Zach the Guide | Fantasia the Party Girl | Chryseis the Dryad | Dante the Arms Dealer | Caitlin the Nurse
Pairings: All are platonic.
~
“Huyah!” You yelled. Your sword slashed through the carnivorous Wyverns. Their twists and persistence gave you the fury to strike them down. Souls of Flight fell from their innards, topping off the final ingredient needed to make frozen wings. They make a much better alternative to your current fledgling wings.
You also wondered how Zach the guide managed to know the recipe for making wings. You would never know; maybe he was an adventurer himself once before.
The magic mirror lit up at your reflection. Then your eyes opened to the familiar comfort of your home. The warmth from your fireplace made the frostbite on your fingers less painful. At your arrival, Zach stood up from the sofa in surprise, the book dropping from his hold.
“Oh! It’s you, (Name)!” He held his chest. “I thought you were one of those Goblin sorcerers. ...Did you get the Souls?”
After plucking out some harpy feathers from your armor, you opened your backpack and took out a glass bottle containing the essence. “Yeah, I did. Thanks for the recipe, Zach. I can reach the sky islands easier now. Those Wyverns are hell to deal with though. If it weren’t for the shield from who was it, Romeo, I wouldn’t make it….”
“As expected,” he laughed. “And it’s no big deal. I’m always happy to lend a hand to our town hero. Speaking of which,” Zach took the bottle, placed it on the table, and grabbed your hand, “come, (Name). Fantasia’s excited to be throwing a party after you protected us from the Pirates. Who knew they’d be interested in a small town like ours?”
“Eh? Another one?” Your brows furrowed. “Zach, I’m thankful, but I’m just doing my deeds. You guys shouldn’t even be surprised to have invasions anyway. It’s not like it’s something new.”
“All hard work deserves something. Don’t feel bad for us; the majority of us do nothing but sell and buy.”
Huh.
“I guess you make a good point—.”
“Hey (Name)!” People leaped from behind the bushes. They were your fellow townspeople, and you realized that Zach took you to the park for the celebration, instead of the usual town hall. “The park? Is there some construction on the hall that I didn’t know about?” Your shoulders slumped. “Don’t tell me another attack happened while I was away.”
Fantasia waved her hands. “No no, of course not! Instead,” her lips formed a grin, “we just have this cool idea for an activity. And tonight has some perfect weather for it: mild wind, a clear sky—.”
“We decided to do this activity for each time you defend us from a new enemy.” Chryseis smiled, placing a moonglow flower crown on your head.
“And what would that be?”
“Thought you’d never ask!” Fantasia raised her left hand up high. “Light it up, everyone!” Behind the party girl, you watched in awe as something began glowing in each towns-person's hands.
“Ahh.” You realized: those were lanterns, being released into the night sky.
Their small flames mimicked the stars, making them all the more beautiful.
Zach chuckled; he admired the lanterns twinkling in your eyes.
Waking to your side, the merchant brushed his beard. “These lanterns are made of silk, produced by the fine webs of spiders. It’s not easy to retrieve, but the Oten’s explosives scared them all off.”
“Don’t think you can leave me out, old man,” Dante huffed. “If it weren’t for my bullets, those spiders wouldn’t know when to stop. Oten here keeps missing his aim.”
“Oi—!”
“Dante!”
“Fine, fine. I’ll quit it.” The man lifted your hand to his lips and placed a kiss. “Only for you—.”
You pulled away. “Sorry, I’m actually saving myself for someone with more compassion than that,” you playfully wafted your hand, leaving the arms dealer in embarrassment. Everyone laughed at the sight.
Then, a glass of blueberry juice reached your hand. “Ahh, I’m glad to have you here with us, (Name),” Caitlin spoke up. “Not only have you provided us a home, but you’re also a cool person! Better ask me to treat when you can.”
“Let me guess: in return for coins?” You sipped the juice.
The nurse was so quick to answer, “Yeah— hey!” She lightly shoved your arm. “I’ll lower the costs for you, o-of course!”
“Haha, appreciated it, Cait.”
As you strolled away, a sudden, blue cloud poofed out of nowhere. A man of a white beard and purple appeared. “Hello, beloved hero!” Merlyn exclaimed.
“What’s with the formality?”
“Now now, have you really not heard of my saying: ‘great magic comes with great respect’?” Another cast of blue revealed a crystal ball in his hands. You tilted your head. “You sure? I don’t remember you saying such thing last after-party.”
The man hushed you, “Sh, sh! It’s essential I follow the advice of my magic crystal. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have spoke in such a way. I mean, its tellings don’t come often after all!”
“Merlyn, I really do think the crystal tells you the future, not actual advice on what you—.”
“Shh!”
With a gentle touch, Merlyn rubbed the object. Then, he held it out, closing his eyes and chanting a string of words, until he removed his hand. “Aha! Your future seems bright— other than a dead goldfish— but still! I give you this magic crystal, beloved, young hero, (Name), in hopes that you will use this in a time of doubt.”
“Wait what?” You held the crystal with great care. “Merlyn, I’m not sure—.”
“Whoops, too late! I must walk my hat! Perhaps, an enchanting cup of hot chocolate may entertain you instead.”
Just like that, the glass in your hand transformed into a hot mug. You realized you lost sight of the wizard. You glanced around in vain. “Huh, he actually dipped on me,” you muttered. You stared down at the crystal ball and sighed. “Fine.”
“How are you feeling, (Name)?” You jumped, making Chryseis laugh. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.”
“You’re good. In all truthfulness, at least you’re not Dante.” The dryad rolled her eyes at the name. “I must agree. To this day, that man still can’t tell I’m five hundred years old.” A look of shock caught your face. “I’m sorry, what?”
“What?”
“I actually didn’t know you’re five hundred years old….”
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“It isn’t! You look incredibly young!”
“I know you mean it as a compliment.” Chryseis rubbed her arm. “I just  don’t think it helps in the case of Dante,” she chuckled. “But enough of that, the corruption has been decreasing thanks to you.”
“Well, some of the thanks should also be given to Hope. Even though it was pricey, the cleminator was helpful.” You crossed your arms. “Oh, the steampunker?” You blinked. “Yeah, is there something about her?”
“Not necessarily.” Chryseis shook her head. “I heard she dislikes me, but for what reason, I’m not sure. Anyway, let me see….” The dryad connected her hands and closed her eyes. A gust of wind blew by as she hummed a short tune to herself. “Terraria has less than five percent of corruption! Each day, nature is more at ease.”
“Terraria?”
“Oh.” The dryad’s eyes widened. “Sorry, that was a slip of my tongue. I meant (World Name).”
“Well, I’m glad to hear my work paid off, and that my gold isn’t for nothing.” Your hand lightly touched the flower crown on your hair. “And thanks for the crown again, Chryseis.” She smiled. “Of course.”
“Ay, (Name)!”
A different voice yelled out, one that made the dryad frown. “Oh no, I must leave now, (Name). Do take care!”
“W-wait, you can’t just leave—!”
Dante took your arm, turning you to face him. “Now where’d you think you’re going, sweetheart? The party’s just started.” You grimaced at the nickname. “Don’t you have Caitlin to flirt with?”
“I didn’t know you’re so interested in who I’m with.” He smirked.
“More of ‘I wish you wouldn’t talk to me now,’ to be honest.”
“Ouch, not even a bullet hurts that bad.” Dante ran a hand through his hair. “C’mon, I just need a moment.”
You glanced around for a lone person to speak with, but alas, everyone was busy with their own celebratory agenda. “What would it be now: more firearm dealing, a dinner date?” You waved off. “Forget it, I’m happy with my current weapon and treasure hunting.”
“Hey hey!” The dealer stopped you. “It’s… I just want to give you something as a gift, all right?”
“…Huh?”
Dante scoffed, “Why do you sound so confused? I’m not that hard-hearted. Here.” The man shoved a long cardboard box to you. You slowly opened it, revealing the star cannon. “You….”
He rubbed his nape. “Look, I was supposed to give you it three parties ago— y’know, the one after you killed that giant plant— but I never found you. You were always gone for some reason, but I guess you got other stuff to do, so….” He paused for a moment. “So… you like it?”
You stared at the gift, thinking and admiring the fact that Dante even poured effort to forge it. The silence you gave was unbearable for the man, however.
“Hey, don’t leave me hangin’, (Name). I even asked Oten to explode the meteorite for it, but apparently, his explosives don’t even work on it. You’d have to find stars for ammo though. I would’ve gotten some if it weren’t for the fact that the stars I’ve seen killed some—.”
“I love it.”
The sudden remark made Dante flustered.
“Thanks, Dante. I have to admit: I didn’t expect this.”
He coughed. “Yeah yeah, I only did it because you earned it—.”
“(Name)!”
Your eyes flickered to your friend walking over to you two. “Zach?” You smiled at his appearance.
Dante, on the other hand, “tch’d,” looking away with bitterness in his mouth. “Hey, glad to have found you. The wind’s drifting the lanterns to the west. I thought we could go over to the pond and read the messages on there.”
“You guys put messages on there?” You looked to Dante, who pursed his lips and nodded.
“Come on!” You put the star cannon back into the box, carefully handling it. “Okay okay. I gotta go, so thanks again, Dante.” You smiled.
You and Zach hurried over to the edge of the pond. The lights reflected onto the water. You watched the wind lead some of the lanterns within arm’s reach. After some time, your hand raised up high and caught onto one.
“This one’s from Konah,” Zach observed.
“‘Strong energy flows through you, in which your presence keeps my soul at peace.’”
Zach pulled in another lantern. “Oh, this is from Reishi!”
You laughed at this one. “‘I’m glad you didn’t try to eat me.’”
“Unfortunately, he’s got Alfed to worry about. That guy’s always trying to take a bit out of him,” Zach sighed. You thought aloud, “What’s up with truffles?”
“Not sure, I just heard it can mess your head up, which sounds more uncomfortable than tasty,” your friend replied.
The two of you looked up at more lanterns in silence, many of which were floating far away. Something ran through your mind when you caught sight of the actual stars in the sky. “…Hey Zach?”
The guide hummed, signaling you to continue. “Every day, I wonder why I’m here. To be honest, it feels exhausting to get rid of the enemies and corruption. In fact, I wonder if I have a different purpose than that. But… after spending time to meet and talk with you guys, I feel less lonely.” Zach turned away from the lanterns to face you.
“I’m glad to have you guys here. I’m glad that my purpose is to help protect you guys if anything. And…,” you paused, “I wish it will stay that way forever.”

Greenskeeper Fest Foods
It is rare in the Viridian Labyrinth to have feasts or even cooked food. Food is rarely in excess, and a common saying around the flight is “take only what the forest gives”. Many clans are nomadic, so most food found is eaten that day and rarely stored. Some more primal clans view agriculture as an insult to the Gladekeeper, that to farm is to mock The Mother’s ability to provide. As to cooked foods- in a tropical rainforest keeping a fire light can be a troublesome thing, and for those who live in trees fire can be a dangerous thing.
Thus, feasts and cooked food are rare in the Labyrinth, but if you do want to try the cooking the best time is spring- especially during Greenskeeper Gathering. The land is filled with abundance, flowers filling the forest and life overflowing. These are pivotal times for the Labyrinth, battles are held off and clans come together to socialize and eat together.
Below is a list of some potential food items for your Greenskeeper Festival:
Foods
Grilled and Roast Meats- while Fire Flight maybe king of the grill, Nature has many a hungry Wildclaw to feed. Any bird or beast or fish caught will be skewered and placed upon the grill. The first round of meats is the appetizers such as whole roasted Lovebirds, grilled Tadhop legs rubbed with chili peppers, or skewers of Firebelly Scorpions in a garlic sauce.  For main dishes, Spotted Goat and Barkback Boar is sectioned and served in a variety of cuts and doneness.
Banana Leaf Baked Hippocampus- Hippocampus baked in a Banana leaf with a coconut curry sauce. There is great debate whether it is more fishy or equine in taste.
Pit-Roasted Pygmy Hippo- covered in Banana leaves and buried in the ground with coals to slowly roast for day, it is said this meal could feed an Imperial… or a pack of hungry mirrors.
Clownfish Ceviche- clownfish marinated in lime and orange along with onions and chilis, often served along with fried Plantain chips for dipping.
Cheesy Wild Rice Mix- steamed in Bladed Flatleafs, this dish contains beans, Bark Boar bacon, grilled Grove Ferns, and Goat milk mozzarella.
Clay Pot Amphithere Stew- Amphithere can be difficult to eat whole due to the many bones, so in this dish it is cut from the bone and stewed with tomatoes, onions, lime juice, and coriander. Fish such as Gilded Tetras or Bamboo shrimp are often added to the dish. Typically served with a porridge made of manioc or cassava.
Blooming Greenpod Salad- when slowed cooked over a fire these plants bloom from their pods. The leaves are then often mixed with Paradise Seeds and Sage Shell mushrooms in an herbal sauce made from Jungle Raincatch plants.
Jungle Bark Tamales- the Jungle Pith bark is tasty, the pith itself not so much. Thus, the pith is removed from the bark ground up and made into a dough with sweet or savory fillings. The dough is then wrapped with the bark and mixture is steamed together. The bark and dough can be eaten together or separately.
Slow Stone Soup-soup made from a Travelling Garden in its own shell, typically contains hard-boiled Zalis eggs, tomatoes, Wild Onion, and bell pepper
Steamed Rolly Polly- in the jungle Rolly Pollys can grow to massive sizes and can be steamed or roasted like a lobster. Much to the delight of the dinner, after steaming the shell can simply be tapped to open and reveal the white flesh within. Typically served with a citrus sauce.
Red-Blue Banana Custard- made from a Red Banana which has a dark blue fruit, typically served in bamboo cups and topped with a red sauce made from Redblood Sapper.
Minty Jadevine Sorbet- a gift from Frostbite Dryads, a dessert that is cool in two different ways.
 Drinks
Barkskin Tea- leaves traded by from the Barskin Watcher make for a strong green tea.
Chilled Edamame Smoothie- with a little sugarcane syrup and fruit added this treat will get any hatchie to drink their veggies.
Jungle Juice- a mix of liquors and fruit from every clan in an area, sweet and sure to give you a hangover the next day.
Manticore’s Tail- a cocktail made of sugar cane liquor and lime juice with chili salt on the rim.

Any thoughts on life-ice secondary?
(school masterpost) @myaennalee also requested this!
Yet another mom friend, but like, annoyed older sibling vibes.
Will shield you just so they don’t have to heal you, if what they say is correct.
Like working with support style wizards more.
Just... middle sibling vibes.
Loves Mooshu, especially Kembaalung Village before it was messed up.
Some of their life spells get frosty or have a fresh layer of snow, like Dryad, Rebirth, and Treant.
Their unicorn spell is on fresh snow, large as a Clydesdale, with a fluffier mane and tale, and frost flowers blooming up in their wake.
Their frostbite spell is less effective but they can treat it well.
They have tea and gossip sessions with Moolinda and Lydia. Lydia has the Best Gossip Ever.

First come first serve since most are singles but a few I’ve got several of! Just DM me either here or maybe Discord and I’ll send ‘em to ya for free (tho I won’t say no if you wanna donate treasure / gems lol), I don’t need them! Otherwise I’ma Baldwin them~ ]

Sketches and doodles collected from 2018 lol--
+ Frostbites!!! A ship consists of Blanca (an ice-person) and Baron (an incubus). They’re such a soft spot for me aaaahhhh + Some new OCs!! Kazuha - a kitsune host, Rogue - a multi-limbed editor, and Alejandra - a rose-bush dryad + Some misc. Jonesie sketches. One was inspired by Becky G in the Mad Love MV, and the other is a rough draft of her new (current) look~ Mainly the hair but ya know lol
None of these characters are White and Cishet and I think that’s beautiful tbh.
