So this year I decided to keep a media journal of all the video games I've played. And as is custom from the Internet, I have decided to rank them. So, here they are:

I will also add that these are games that I have finished (or at least games I was done playing). I am currently still mid playing the games Penny Larceny, Justice Sucks, Baladins, and Tavern Talk (and let's not even talk about the games I've bought this year, but haven't gotten around to playing yet).

Saw that don't cry there are 8,000ish-and-counting frog species in the world yesterday. This evening as I was doing laundry the coqui frogs in my backyard started singing.

Coqui are a fairly recent, extremely successful, and generally unwelcome addition to Hawaii's ecosystem. In just the 40ish years since they were introduced they have begun to change. Evolution in action.

The coqui here now grow much larger than their Central American relations. But that's not the part that's interesting to me.

They still sing. Loudly. But! The ones in my yard (and other places, I'm told) have started experimenting. Most still use the koh-KI call that gives them their name. But a few years ago I noticed one brave male started calling koh-KIKI and this evening I heard TWO call variations I hadn't heard before. Someone out there is courting with a koh-KI KI KI and another is calling koko-kiKI tirelessly outside my bedroom over the sound of rain.

So, don't cry. There are frogs becoming new species right now based on how sexy improv jazz is.
