And promptly cracked her head wide open. Kaiden's playmates, understandably terrified for their friend, rushed over to her mother. When her mother finally arrived, she was frantic. The curious part is, Kaiden was fine. Winded and scared, sure, but what would have been a large gaping hole in her head was nothing more than a scar after what couldn't have been more than fifteen minutes. She did lose blood, though. Lots of golden, shimmering blood. The ghosts laughed then.

The Emerald Guard needed new soldiers for their lower ranks, as the experienced ones who were already serving went to prepare for war with Hlunlah. All Nialon-born citzens aged 17 to 20 were to join. Kaiden, unfortunately, was born in Nialon and raised in a tiny, sleepy Niali town called Daeryn, and so the letters came to recruit her and several others. The people of Daeryn were naturally terrified for their children, Kaiden's parents included. Her mother and father begged her not to go. Kaiden didn't want her adoptive parents to be fugitives, especially since the letters had warned- not directly, but noticeably- that the recruits and their families would suffer the consequences if they refused. Li Hua, her best friend, didn't want her to go either, and the two spent the last few weeks before Kaiden's departure arguing. It was challenging to try and get used to the new setting, as Kaiden had never left Daeryn. She was a quiet, awkward, lonely kid who sometimes seemed to whisper to the air when alone. She was an outcast, through and through. Then, she met Felix BonaDea, another alienated kid. They were inseperable after that.

Every year the Guard held a small challenge to kill a magical beast to try and find the best recruits, and as someone with little fighting skills or training, Kaiden learned quickly that she had to depend on her wits to shine. Something (not the ghosts, not this time) told her she needed to stand out. After three years of grueling training, Kaiden had finally become an offical knight of the Emerald Guard, waiting to be informed of where she would be stationed. The Aquamarine Ball was to determine that. Instead of becoming a guard, however, Kaiden (and Felix) were approached by a Lloyd Santhuff, the leader of the Azari, an elite fighting unit. The two accepted the offer.

They were good. The best, even. Every time they were sent on a mission, they came back victorious, which was why on one particular mission, Kaiden was cocky.

“… we’re surrounded.”

They were safe, thank the gods. Badly harmed, barely alive, but safe.

He was gone now. Gone to live with his family. The others didn’t seem to care.

Formerly a member of the Azari, Kaiden Evania left shortly before the murder of Natasha Pierce, a noblewoman. When questioned about her sudden departure, she stated she felt she wasn't good enough to be a knight and realized she was better off leaving. It’s said she made quite the stir when handing in her resignation. Santhuff was particularly angry for a while after. Kaiden didn’t care.

Well, the good thing about media is that literally nothing stops you from recreating it. And I’m not talking about fanfictions, no. Fanfictions are good, but I mean you can go so much further than that! While fics can be satisfying and you don’t have to accept canon, ultimately, fanfictions will always be just that until the source material becomes public domain and that might take a while before people can use their creativity to create prominent media based on it. However, you can literally always take the potential of a story and use it for a new one. You can literally rewrite it and reinvent it in your very own way. Take the plot or premise of a movie or show that you like and that had its potential ruined by its writers or producers but just change the setting, make OCs based on the characters you love and have them live the story you think they should have had or play the role you think they should have played in it.

You think another character should have been revealed to been revealed to be the Big Bad in your favorite TV show? No problem, just rewrite the story, change their name and make them the villain they should have been. You’re frustrated because a character started out well-rounded and interesting but the writers ruined them and took away all their charm? That’s okay, you can recreate them and this time you can be sure they won’t be ruined! You’re upset because a piece of media you liked lacked grandeur and whimsy? You can just create a new piece of media that will have those things and won’t frustrate you as much as the original! Write it! Draw it! Animate it! Create it in a simulation game! Cosplay as your own characters! Heck, make LIVE ACTION movies or shows, long or short, even if your material is not professional! People have created absolutely amazing things with a very limited budget! It’s possible, you just have to believe it! Cosplayers sometimes create much better costumes than major studios! And I’m sure you can find people that would love to star in your project, even if it’s just your friends! Have fun! You can have FULL control! You can create exactly the type of content that you want or need! All you have to be is passionate and you can also find other people that are just as passionate!

You can do anything with your stories and characters. They’re yours! It’s free and that way you don’t have to worry about copyrights or wait until big corporations get their greedy and uncreative hands off of your favorite media for someone to finally do something good with it. And even if it does enter public domain soon enough, who is going to be that someone? It could be you! In fact, it can only be you! But if all you do is complain about the wasted potential of your favorite series but do nothing about it, you will end up wasting YOUR own potential! You’re creative and passionate! Stop waiting! Do it now! Who knows? You could end up creating something that could resonate with so many people and become the Next Big Thing! And even if it’s just one person that reads/watches it and enjoys it, it’s great! Even if that person is you! At least you’ll be satisfied!

Appearing on the Wednesday, Jan. 29, episode of Sophia Bush’s podcast, Work In Progress, the two actresses bonded over how they were able to form such strong friendships on their respective shows, Pretty Little Liars and One Tree Hill.

Bellisario starred in all seven seasons of the hit teen drama series Pretty Little Liars – based on the novel series of the same name by Sara Shepard – from 2010 to 2017. The Freeform series followed five teenage girls who begin to receive threats from an anonymous person; it also starred Shay Mitchell, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish, among others.

Bush, 42, said that she built a “kind of second family” while starring on her long-running CW teen drama One Tree Hill. Bellisario, 39, said she felt the same and noted that she and her costars were each other’s “home and away from [their] families.”

Bellisario added, “We were all different ages and different experiences.” When the series started, Bellisario was 24, Benson was 20, Hale was 20, Mitchell was 23, Parrish was 21 and Pieterse was 13.

“I had gone to college, I finished high school and finished college, and a lot of the girls had gotten their GEDs or had been homeschooled or who didn't go to college,” she added of the differences in their paths.

Because of that, “they were getting to go through in high school," Bellisario said of filming moments like passing periods and proms. "[That was] not their high school experience because they've been homeschooled.”

“There were a lot of definite shenanigans going on, but I think I always felt like the older sister, that got to go away to college and now was coming back on Thanksgiving break,” she explained. “I was like, ‘Oh, okay. I see what you guys are up to. Yeah. But I'm good.’ ”

“It was also really fun because, as you say, they become your second family,” she said. “We really felt like sisters because you're spending all this time together, and you're not always gonna be best friends, but, like a sibling.”

“If anybody has a sibling, you know, it doesn't matter if you're not best friends. It doesn't matter if you got in a fight the day before you're, like, you're still at dinner together. You're still hanging out,” she added. “It's fine because it's just — these are your second family.”

Bush immediately agreed with Bellisario’s sentiments. “It's real-life dynamics. We were together for 10 years, and none of us had any idea how to be adults when we first met," she said of One Tree Hill's cast.

“We went through all of our s--- together," she continued. "We were doing all the things that you do in your young life, but if anybody from outside our little circus family had anything negative to say about anybody in it, it was like —”

I think we're continually getting variety- yes there are a lot of older mainstays, but new folks continue to get cycled in. Like I've watched a lot of CW/WB and Freeform and there's basically a direct path for a lot of folks from there to these movies. So its always interesting to see who shows up from those. So I usually group them that way- Lacey Chabert and RLC from late 90s teen dramas, then you started having Bethany Lenz and Autumn Reeser from mid ought shows like the OC and One Tree Hill, then Janel Parrish and Merrit Patterson from the Pretty Little Liars early 2010s era, now we're starting to get folks from the mid-10s and later like Lyndie Greenwood, Rhiannon Fish, Jocelyn Hudon, Katherine McNamara and Katie Findlay. But it could be I remember them more because they're not new to me (I think Vic Michaelis is one of the few examples of someone I did not recognize beforehand) I will say though that it does seem we get more variety in the women than we do the guys.

We are starting to see a lot more of the younger women having multiple movies which is great. It's all about finding a good balance for the channels. Then you throw diversity into the mix as well which Hallmark still needs to improve on.

From having this blog, I see a lot of people finding out about certain actors being in movies after they've already aired so Hallmark isn't doing a great job of promoting the movies to the audiences they should be trying to reach either. There's still a stigma around what Hallmark is too and people don't want to watch. I saw SO MANY comments like that on gifs this past Christmas season.

Lyndie is 40, by the way. Rhiannon 32, Jocelyn 29, Kat 28, Katie 33. Lacey, Autumn, Joy are all in their early 40s.

My Thoughts On... #52 - Freeform 📺

Many of you may be familiar with the television network Freeform. But it wasn't always called that. It started out as a Christian network back in the 1970s and 1980s called CBN. Then it was rebranded as The Family Channel in 1990. Then Fox Family in 1998. Then ABC Family in 2001. And finally, it was rebranded as Freeform in 2016. Which, to this day, never changed. At least not yet. Anyway, as a kid in the '90s, I grew up watching Freeform back when it was known as Fox Family. Yes. Not only did I grow up watching Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, and PBS Kids, I grew up watching Fox Family. I remember all the shows they aired, most of which were from other networks, especially from Canada and the United Kingdom, such as Angela Anaconda, The Three Friends and Jerry Show, Braceface, What's With Andy?, The Kids from Room 402, Walter Melon, Garfield and Friends, Dennis the Menace, Digimon, Monster Farm, Camp Candy, Bobby's World, Mega Babies, Bad Dog, Weird-Ohs, Da Mob, Enigma, The Why-Why Family, Rotten Ralph, Heathcliff, Eek! The Cat, Totally Spies!, Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Shining Time Station, ZZZap!, The New Addams Family, Big Wolf on Campus, I Was a Sixth Grade Alien, The Zack Files, Eerie, Indiana, Goosebumps, The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley, You're Invited to Mary-Kate and Ashley's, Two of a Kind, So Little Time, Radio Active, State of Grace, Real Scary Stories, Outrageous!, Show Me the Funny, S Club 7, etc. I never watched them all, of course. I, among everyone other kid or teen in the '90s, enjoyed Fox Family. That is until it was rebranded as ABC Family. They still aired the same shows, at least some, until a few years later when they aired their original shows such as Kyle XY, Lincoln Heights, Greek, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Middleman, Make It Or Break It, Pretty Little Liars, Melissa & Joey, 10 Things I Hate About You, Switched at Birth, Bunheads, The Fosters, Baby Daddy, Young & Hungry, etc. As well as some shows from other networks, most of which were from ABC such as Full House, Family Matters, Boy Meets World, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Step By Step, Growing Pains, The Wonder Years, Sister, Sister, America's Funniest Home Videos (which was later rebranded as America's Funniest Videos hosted by Tom Bergeron), Whose Line Is It Anyway?, My Wife and Kids, and 8 Simple Rules. But some were from other networks besides ABC, such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which originally aired on NBC, and shows from Fox such as Grounded for Life and That '70s Show. Also shows from The WB such as 7th Heaven, Gilmore Girls, What I Like About You, Reba, Charmed, Everwood, and Smallville. Then Freeform came along, which I didn't watch much in the way of at first, but then I found out that while still airing the same shows from ABC Family for a while, just like Fox Family did, they aired original shows later on such as Shadowhunters, Grown-ish, The Bold Type, Praise Petey, etc. As well as shows from, you guessed it, other networks. Such as black-ish, The Middle, The Office, The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. And for a while in honor of Throwback Thursday, they aired shows from Disney Channel such as That's So Raven, Even Stevens, Lizzie McGuire, etc. Anyway, I was a fan of Fox Family's content, so I of course was none too thrilled that they no longer aired all the shows I've watched every day from there. Things were much better when we had that network. But I doubt that there'd be any point for Fox Family to still exist in 2025 since they don't plan on rebooting any of their shows. I mean, they did plan to reboot Angela Anaconda in 2020, which you can find the intro for on YouTube. Anyway, the only thing synonymous with Fox Family that Freeform has is their initials.
