Any self-made video clip based on films, games, sports etc., can be submitted to the contest (only anime are restricted). No restrictions on music styles and genres of video. No registration needed. Submit deadline is 10 October 2019. Prize fund: ~500$. We accept exclusive videos only, the ones which were not shown online before the contest. FreeCon 14 FanFiction Contest Announcement

FreeCon is a free yearly anime, video game, and enthusiast convention that is held on the beautiful Florida State University campus. Each year we have thousands of people that attend and would love to see you become one of them.

What Date/Time is FreeCon?

FreeCon will take place on March 23rd through the 25th of 2018. Friday, the 23rd, FreeCon will go from 6pm-10:30pm. Saturday, the 24th, FreeCon will go from 10am-10:30pm. Sunday, the 25th, FreeCon will go from 10am-6pm.

FanFiction contest;

Do you like to write? Do you see pairings everywhere you look? Do you enjoy making people who would never fight, fight for fun? Well, FreeCon has the event for you! This year we are introducing the new FanFiction Contest for all to enjoy, if you win or become the favorite of a judge it will even be read out loud during the convention. There are two sections, PG and 18+, and plenty of prompts to choose from!

Prompts:

PG or 18+

• Write your happy ending for your non-canon OTP • PLOT TWIST: Scenario of an important character that died previously becoming reanimated/ reincarnated- what would happen, what would they do? • The first and last time two characters met- your interpretation and can be AU or canon universe • Your favorite character appears in this universe, and you are their guide • You wake up in you favorite anime after being mocked out (must be canon-verse), and a character(s) is/are your guide(s) • Character A finds Character B’s phone number [enter place here] • "Walking in on significant other dancing to a cheesy love song" • Characters get lit • My friend dragged me to a party and now I’m lost • "I wish you’d stop and realize just how loud you’re being" • "We’re at a murder mystery party and I’m convinced you're the killer" • "The sun hasn’t even come up and you want me to do what now?" • "Somehow you don’t even have to open your mouth to make my head hurt"

18+ Only

• "You’re dressed as a sexy cop and oh god please arrest me" • "Ranting about annoying things that they both disagree with which leads to kissing and so on…" • "Walking in on significant other dancing to a cheesy love song" • "Stop getting crumbs all over my bed" • "We pulled an all-nighter trying to play monopoly and I may have confessed some weird things.”

Rules

• No incest • No non-con: everything must be fully consensual • NO COFFEE SHOP AUs PLEASE • No pedophilia: adults and characters as young as 16 can be shipped, and any ships involving characters younger than 16 can't have more than a 5-year age-gap • No pedophilia pt.2: minors cannot be used in any sexually explicit prompt • Please do not do crossover couples, as it can get confusing • Does not have to be a full FanFiction, though it must have a clear ending, even if that ending is like the ending of a chapter • You must stick to a prompt, if you do not, you will be disqualified • If you are not present to receive your prize, it will be given to the runner-up as a gift in your name******

******I have consulted with the event manager and they said that in the event that you win a prize and you would like it, you must state in your email that you came from the r/FanFiction subreddit and allow us to publish your name on our website otherwise your prize will be given to the runner-up. I understand this is quite the international community and we wouldn’t want to leave anyone out of their rightful prize just because they couldn’t attend the con :)

HOW TO SUBMIT MY STORY The information listed below must be filled out and present on the cover page of your Fic and included in the body of the email emailed to us at fsu.freecon@gmail.com with the email titled Fanfiction Contest. Please attach your Fic as a separate document, do not link to a fanfixx or wattpad (etc) account as we cannot verify it is yours/there may be an issue with the link and do not paste into the body of the email, it will be hard to read and we will judge you poorly out of spite.

Please Note;

We DO allow submissions of non-anime Fanfics. All Fandoms are welcome. As long as your work is based on one of the prompts and abides by our rules, it’ll be smooth sailing.

If you want your prize to be shipped to you, please specify that you are FROM THE R/FANFICTION SUBREDDIT AND THAT YOU ARE OKAY WITH YOUR NAME BEING PUT UP ON OUR WEBSITE, OTHERWISE IT WILL BE GIVEN TO THE RUNNER UP. Also, note that if you would like your prize it would be in your best interest to submit early so that in the event that your work wins a prize we can ship it out to you in a timely manner.

We accept most common document file formats including but not limited to: .doc .docx .pages, etc. If it’s some whack file format and it’s the only way you can type up your Fic for some reason, don’t worry I’ll figure it out lol.

So you went to freecon? What days?

I did indeed go to Freecon! I went Friday-Sunday (As I usually do every year.) On Friday I got there at about 1 an stayed until like 9, an then Saturday I went till the end of the con, so 10, an Sunday I sat in the gaming room till 5 when it was closing. Did you go to Freecon? I have some selfies up of what I was dressed as over the 3 days, Pikachu was Friday, Ash/Dragon Onesie was Saturday, an my unicorn with my bear was Sunday, perhaps you saw me? :O

📢📢 Calling all cosplayers! FreeCon 17 will be hosting a virtual cosplay contest! ☆ヾ(*´▽｀)ﾉ

Interviews will take place on Zoom: March 13th, Saturday, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST and 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM EST. Contestants are not required to attend Zoom interviews in costume.

Contestants are required to provide either, at least 3 photos of their cosplay or a video of their Cosplay that is at least 15 seconds. The Awards Ceremony will be a video compilation of the contestants, and will be streamed on March 14th, Sunday, 1:00 PM EST on YouTube and Discord.
