F*ck You?
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
and the rest of the 11th Street Kids
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: Adrian has his own secret way of asking you to sleep with him.
Warnings: Mentions of sex, but no actual sex. The team bullying Adrian as per cannon ☹️. Peacemaker typical language.
A/N: Just a silly little thought I had at 5am during a text convo with one of my best friends when I couldn’t sleep. Shout out Tyler for letting me bounce this idea off you. Thanks bestie! Just a short little fic. The italics are flashbacks. Crossposting on my AO3 adriansglasses.
Adrian stuck his middle finger up, pointed at you. You were going through some files on the other side of the room unable to see him behind the papers you were focusing on. Those who saw were giving him questioning looks.
“Dude why are you flipping off, (Y/N)? I didn’t realize you were mad at them” Economos decided to be the first to question him. Usually he didn’t care enough to ask, but even he was curious as to why Adrian was enthusiastically flipping you off.
“Oh! That’s because I’m not. I just wanna have sex when we get back to my apartment. I was saying can I fuck you.” Adrian says, as if it’s obvious. Chris begins to laugh, having overheard the conversation.
“Oh my god. I’m not sure if you’re insane or an idiot.” Harcourt rolls her eyes, walking away.
“I’m pretty sure he’s both. You know that’s not what that means right?” Economos questions.
“It has two meanings.” Adrian says in a very matter of fact way.
“No, it doesn’t.” John argues.
“Then how do they always know what I mean?” Adrian asks, as if he’s proving his point.
Chris continues to laugh to himself as Adrian and Economos argue.
You’re deep in thought, not paying them any attention when Leota passes you the file you were looking for.
“Thanks!” You smile at her.
“Why is Adrian flipping you off?” She asks.
You look over at him, blushing. You nod.
“See!” Adrian yells throwing up his arms. “Two meanings! I told you!”
“Oh god.” You blush, hiding your face in one of the files. You didn’t need the entire team knowing you were going home to have sex after this, but it’s not like it was that big of a surprise. You’d been dating Adrian for a while, of course you had a sex life. “I don’t know how or why he got it into his head that fuck you means can I fuck you- but like I personally think it’s very clever and very cute so I just don’t correct him.” You laugh, deciding to be honest with Leota.
You thought back to the first time he flipped you off in such a manner. You were out with the team celebrating with drinks after a mission. He threw up his middle finger, drawing a question mark in the air with the other hand. You looked at him with a confused look and mouthed. ‘Are you asking me to have sex with you?’ and he mouth back, ‘Isn’t it obvious?’. Only Adrian could think something like that was obvious. Only Adrian would even do something like that. You smiled, laughing quietly to yourself. It was so uniquely him.
Chris was still laughing uncontrollably in the back. He was thinking of the first time he’d seen Adrian do this too. Little did everyone else know Chris had been the one to teach it to him long before you were dating.
“You really wanna know how I pick up chicks across the bar?” Chris asked with a shit eating smirk.
“Please!” Adrian begged. He could pull girls as Vigilante no problem, but it was a lot harder without the suit.
“Be direct. Just ask if she wants to go home with you. The most subtle way to be direct is to flip her off.” Chris falsely informs.
“Wait… you want me to be subtle and direct? I’m confused.” Adrian asks.
“Well, yeah. You want her to know, not the whole bar.” Chris quickly lies.
“I always thought flipping somebody off was an insult.” Adrian is rightfully cautious.
“It has two meanings. It’s like special. Special can mean you’re one of a kind, cool, awesome, or it could be used the other way.” Chris explains.
“Oh! Okay!” Adrian smiles, before pausing, with a pondering facial expression. “Wait! You call me special all the time.”
“You should hit on that girl over there!” Chris redirects.
“Okay… here goes nothing…” Adrian says, slowly raising his middle finger. The girl looks shocked and starts to walk up to the two men at the bar. “Oh wow! I think it worked!”
Her pace picks up. She walks up to Adrian, slapping him, hard.
“Wait! This is positive! I’m hitting on you!” Adrian says frantically with his finger still up, as she walks away.
“Aw! Fuck! Do you think maybe she had a boyfriend?” Adrian asks, adjusting his glasses and rubbing his jaw.
“Yeah, maybe.” Chris laughs hysterically.

movie night (adrian chase x reader)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Adrian Chase x Reader (one shot) Summary: You and Adrian have a movie night and watch Shaun of the Dead. (I have a hc that Adrian loves watching horror movies, specifically zombie movies, and discussing the logistics of the kills in it lol) Word Count: 536 Tags: Established Relationship, Fluff, Swearing, Comfort, Idiots in Love, Gender-Neutral Pronouns, Post-Canon, Zombie Movie, Reader-Insert, Post-Canon, Post Season 1 Warnings: swearing, gore, blood, zombies
>>>(read on ao3)<<<
After a long shift at your café job, and Adrian just coming home from Fennel Fields, you two were exhausted, and you both didn’t feel like going out to patrol tonight, so you decided to have a movie night. Looking through your gigantic, shared collection of DVDs, Adrian suggested Shaun of the Dead, which is one of his favorite movies. Whenever you two watch it, or any zombie movie, he goes into so much detail about the zombies, and the kills, and you love it. He knows how some of these kills should look like, and he loves talking about the logistics of it. And he loves seeing if he would survive given the circumstances of each zombie flick.
“Oooh like right there, the blood should’ve splattered differently, and there would definitely be more blood too! But that kill was insane!” he smiled, getting antsy on the couch, you could tell how much he loved this movie. You both had an immense amount of film knowledge, but this was where Adrian shined. Normally while watching movies, people get quite annoyed with you and Adrian sharing facts or talking while watching. The 11th Street Kids always throw popcorn at you guys or heckle you when you ramble too long during a movie. But together, you two love to discuss what’s happening, and hearing what the other has to say. “These zombies are mad slow walkers though, which gives them all at least some kind of chance. In that one movie we watched, those ones ran, which would just make it even more impossible to survive.”
“Yeah, man, in a regular zombie apocalypse, I think we’d have some chance of survival,” you started, Adrian looked over at you, “you know we have some experience defending ourselves,” he giggled, “but if they ran, it’s game over for me… You know I’m not the fastest runner,” you chuckled. “You on the other hand, might have some odds in your favor, you are such a fast runner, babe,”
“You’re fast!” Adrian instantly came to your defense. “Remember when we outran the cops that time? You were super fucking fast, I think you’d have a chance,” he nudged you.
“Eh… if they’re like the ones in that movie though, I’d be a goner,” you joked, “you’re on your own, Ade,” you tapped his thigh.
“Nooo!” He screeched. “I could carry you whenever we needed to run, or give you a piggyback ride,” he suggested, fully serious. “Ooh or I could tie you to my back like I did with Goff a while ago,” you started laughing.
“Wouldn’t I slow you down?” you said in between laughs.
“Nah, like you said, babe, I’m fast,” he gloated. “I don’t wanna live through an apocalypse without you," he said as he rubbed your hand. “It’d be superrrr boring, and like who would I even talk to?”
“That’s true, I am pretty fun to converse with,” you smiled, and he nodded in agreement. The night continued like this, watching the movie, making up fake apocalypse scenarios, and seeing how or if you would survive. In every fake scenario, no matter how insane it was, Adrian always made up some crazy, irrational way to save you.

Imagine Adrian is expressing his love by comparing how he feels when he kills people…
Tumblr media
“I feel the same way about you like I feel when I kill criminals” Adrian whispers into your shoulder
"Babe, as your significant other and spouse I love you so much. With that being said you will need to elaborate on your analogy cause now all I think is that you get the same terrifying satisfaction and look in your eyes when you murder as when you kiss me. Now please go to sleep its four in the morning and you have work later." you say as you grudgingly turn to face him and fall back asleep.
Adrian: ☹️🧜‍♂️

Stuck With You
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: When the team sticks their newest member with Vigilante, everyone feels bad for you, but you’re grateful to have him around when you run into something from your past and lose your cool.
Warnings: panic attacks, human experimentation, referenced child abuse
A/N: I found a couple lines of dialogue in my drafts that I never did anything with and I had the writing bug today so I decided to finally make something with it! I’ll crosspost it on my AO3 adriansglasses as well. Hope you enjoy!
“(L/N), you’re with Vigilante.” Harcourt says, at the beginning of the meeting.
“You’re really gonna stick the newest person with that psycho?” John asks.
“You don’t need to be mean to Adrian just because he’s not here.” Leota starts.
“I would say it to his face too. He’d probably just laugh and call me his 4th best friend.” John retorts.
You hadn’t been with the team for long. This was your first mission with them. After a mission gone too out of control, Waller sent you to the middle of nowhere Evergreen, Washington. You thought she’d sent you here because the environment would be less hectic, but the longer you’re there, the more you realize she probably sent you here because everyone on this team is either highly traumatized or in need of more experience. She was trying to put the training wheels back on. From what you’d been told by the team’s top conspiracy theorist, Christopher Smith, this team was originally supposed to be an expendable scapegoat, but they ended up saving the world. You had no idea what to believe at this point.
“What’s up with Vigilante?” You ask, wondering why this was all such a hot topic. You hadn’t known him for long. He seemed a little odd, but overall fine. If you were being honest you actually kind of liked him. He was sweet and funny, often without trying. There was this comforting air about him and you didn’t really know why. He was a good fighter and you’d be lying if you said you didn’t think he was at least a little bit cute.
“He’s a little…” Chris started moving his finger in a circular motion, trying to insinuate that Adrian was crazy.
“He can’t be that bad.” You smile.
Suddenly Adrian comes running into the old video store tripping over one of his shin guards that wasn’t on properly. He sits down and fastens it.
“Sorry I’m late, guys. They kept me late at the restaurant and then when I was trying to put on my suit in the car I accidentally ran a red light and usually I would kill somebody for that, but I mean I think the more important thing is that I didn’t run over the old lady crossing the street! She was totally fine and I know she’s alive because she screamed at me…I’ve never seen an old lady use to many swear words. It was kind of awesome! Anyway what did I miss?”
“You put on your suit while driving?” Leota asks.
“Yup.” He gives a straight face nod. Adrian often had a way about him, as if what he was thinking should be obvious to other people, when in fact, it was not obvious to most people most of the time.
“You amaze me.” Harcourt says, sarcastically.
“Thank you.” Adrian smiles, not catching her sarcasm.
She rolls her eyes, sighing.
———————————————————————
Later on that night you and Adrian found yourselves walking through a series of tunnels.
“John, I think we might be lost.” You spoke into your coms, hoping he can help you from the van.
“I can’t even hear you in my earpiece and I’m right next to you. I think we lost the signal.” Adrian walks in silence for a few seconds before adding, “I’m sorry you got stuck with me.” He looks at the ground, sad.
“What are you talking about?”
“I know they stuck you with me. Nobody ever really chooses to be my partner.” He lightly kicks a rock, pretending not to be bothered.
“They did pair us up, but that doesn’t mean I was disappointed.” You smile.
“Really? Why would you want me?”
“Well first of all, you’re a great fighter. You were also the first person to attempt to be my friend. I’d trust you in the field over anyone.”
“Really?” You can hear the surprise in his voice.
“Yeah.” You let out a soft giggle. “Why are you so surprised that I like you?”
“Usually everyone just tells me to shut up or fuck off.”
“Well I’m not everyone.” You nudge him playfully as you walk.
Soon you come upon a door. It’s a little rusted, but Adrian shoots the lock off and you’re able to break in.
“What is this place?” He asks.
As soon as you walk inside you see the tubes, the files, the devices, the tables, the symbols. You know exactly what this is. This is an old facility for the for the group that made you leave your old job, the mission that ruined your life. You see files on the table, files no doubt full of details on the children they were experimenting on. The group would take orphaned children or children who were abandoned and unwanted, kids who had no one to protect them, and they would experiment on them. They were human trials to try to find new ways of making superheroes. This must have been one of their old abandoned facilities. Despite the lab being inactive, just the sight of it was still enough to send you into a spiral.
Your heart starts beating rapidly as you grow dizzy. You look down at your shaking hands. You’re starting to lose control of your breathing.
“I- I can’t-“ You walk backwards out of the room, starting to hyperventilate.
“Woah. Hey, what’s going on? Are you having a panic attack?” Adrian slowly puts his hands out towards you. He’s a little unsure of what to do.
“I’ve seen this before!” Your entire world is spinning as your start to cry. You can’t stop thinking about the awful things you saw when you snuck into their active facility earlier this year. Those poor children. Part of you was starting to wonder if Waller put you on this team for a reason. You should have known better than to think she was giving you a break. Waller always had some sort of fucked up motive that only worked for herself hidden up her sleeve. “I can’t fucking breathe!” You sob, sucking in air.
“Tender nice touching.” Adrian slowly approached you, patting your shoulder. You needed pressure on your body. You felt like you were slipping away from earth and you needed to be held down.
“Can I have a hug?” You asked, quietly.
“You want a hug?” He asked, his voice just as quiet. He was speaking softly to not startle you further.
“Yeah…”
“I think I can do that.“ He smiles, slowly bringing you into his arms. A little loose at first, he tightened the hug as you melted into him.
“I’m sorry- I- I just…I know what the did here and- and-“ Adrian shushes you as you begin to stutter, your mind moving much faster than your mouth is able to.
“You’re okay. You’re safe. I’ve got you. Just breathe with me. Don’t focus on anything else, but your breathing okay? Can you feel me breathing?” He rubs your back as you cry into his arms. You nod. “Okay, good. Just…just follow that.” He sighs and then focuses on making his own breathing something you can follow.
“Sometimes it’s hard for me to know what people on the team want because I know Chris doesn’t wanna look weak and Harcourt would kill me if I touched her, so I try to be careful. I just don’t wanna upset you guys more, but if you want me hold you I can keep doing that. Just let me know what you need and I’ll do it.” He says, softly.
“Can you just keep talking?” You ask. The sound of his voice is soothing and grounding.
“You want me to keep talking?” He smiles. “You’re in luck. I’m actually really good at talking. So good, in fact, that people are constantly asking me to shut up. So uh… What can I talk about? Oh! I know. So I have this friend at work. His name is Taylor. Well, he says we’re not friends, but he texts me all time time asking me to help cover his shifts and I would only trust a friend enough to ask them for that, so I think we’re friends. Anyway, so Taylor walked in this morning and…”
The longer Adrian rambles on the better you feel. The pressure of his body on yours and his voice slowly bring you back to earth. Eventually you find yourselves walking back through the tunnels, hand in hand, retracing your steps as he guides you back to the van to regroup. He keeps you distracted with silly stories the entire walk back.
You don’t know what the rest of your team was talking about. Adrian was the best partner you could have had.

You Look Like Shit
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: Adrian helps you calm down at the end of a stressful work week.
Warnings: Stress, a ridiculous amount of hurt/comfort
A/N: This is so so deeply self indulgent. If you know me and my real life no you don’t. Look away lol. Sorry if you see typos. This was barely proofread. Just a short little thing I wrote on a night where I had trouble sleeping. Crossposted on my AO3 adriansglasses.
You sat in the driver’s seat, dissociating, staring into space at your home through the windshield of your parked car. Eventually you blink, take a shakey breath, and get out of your car, slowly heading to the door.
“Babe, is that you?” You hear your boyfriend call from the other room.
“Yeah.” You force a response out, despite feeling like your energy is running on empty. You’d just worked a pretty tough night shift. Just standing up right felt like an impossible task.
“Hey have you seen my- woah… don’t take this the wrong way, but you look like shit.” Adrian says, stopping in his tracks to look at you. He’s half dressed in his Vigilante suit, but he’s missing the chest piece. You can barely focus your eyes on him.
“Two no call no shows, a regular call out, unhappy customers, screaming babies, and something in the back of my head is still worried that building is gonna blow up because we never figured out what that weird smell coming from the heater was a couple days ago. Not to mention one of the no shows was a friend and now it’s my job to find her and connect her with work because somehow some way they don’t have her fucking phone number.” You feel tears start to build in your eyes.
“Holy shit…” Adrian’s voice trails off.
“And if I wasn’t stressed enough I’m covering extra shifts left and right and I don’t even have time to prep for my supervisor interview next week for the promotion and I’m massively overstimulated and everything is just going wrong.” Your voice cracks.
“If they don’t give you that promotion they’re stupid.” He sighs.
“Can I please have a hug?” Your voice trembles as tears begin to fall.
“Come here.” He holds out his arms. As soon as you reach his arms you start sobbing, finally letting out the tears you were holding in all night, the tears your body wouldn’t let out before because it only feels safe enough to do this with Adrian when it’s so stressed. He pulls you close, giving you the pressure you crave. He runs his hand across your back slowly. Your mind tracks the calming repetitive motion. “I’m sorry you’re so stressed. You have every right to be, but you’re home now and I’ve got you. You don’t have to worry about anything right now.”
“But- but I- I can’t stop stressing! I can’t stop! Like what the fuck am I supposed to do?” Adrian notices as your breathing quickens. You’re struggling to keep it at its normal pace.
“Hey hey hey.” He shushes you. “Why don’t we go lay down? Let me take care of things for the night.” He suggests.
“But I thought you were going out.” You gesture to his suit.
“No, I don’t need to go out. Not when you need me here.” He kisses you on the forehead, starting to play with your hair.
“But the city needs you.” You don’t want him to go, but you don’t want to be selfish.
“No, my partner needs me. The streets have been quiet this week. P can handle it on his own and if he can’t he can call me.”
“I just don’t wanna fuck anything else up.”
“Look at me.” He separates from you enough so you can see his face. “You’re not fucking anything up. I’m choosing to take the night off because it’s pretty chill out there and quite frankly I deserve it and I’m gonna use that time to hang out with my awesome partner. You’ve been working your ass off. That place wouldn’t run without you. Just let yourself try to relax with me tonight. We both deserve it.”
“Are you sure?” You ask quietly.
“Positive.” He smiles at you. He leads you to the bedroom where he helps you get changed. He picks out more comfortable clothes for you, letting you wear his clothes because he knows you always prefer his shirts over your own.
“That’s better.” He smiles, kissing your forehead after you’re eventually cuddled up to him in bed for the night.
“I’m sorry for ruining your night.” You say, looking away.
“You didn’t ruin anything. I didn’t even wanna go out. It’s kinda cold. Plus who wants to kill criminals when I could be killing your bad vibes.” You laugh quietly.
“I love you so much.” You snuggle into him.
“I love you too, but you should try to get some sleep. You really need it. It’s not like you have to be anywhere in the morning. You can just rest. You don’t have work tomorrow.”
“Yeah, but I’m just so stressed about work. I don’t wanna sit here. What if something goes wrong? Not to mention, not setting an alarm just feels wrong. I keep thinking I’ll oversleep and miss work, but I don’t have work tomorrow.” He feels you tensing in his arms as you ramble.
“But you’re with me now, Sugarplum,” He reminds you. “and I wouldn’t let you miss work, so get that out of your head. I know it’s hard, but try to relax. Your body is stressed about things and it’s just creating more stress, but I’m literally gonna find a way to shrink down and go inside your brain and start hitting buttons like Inside Out to get you to stop. Actually, Chris told me there’s this guy called Batmite and he’s pretty small so maybe he could crawl through your ear-“
“Adrian!” You cut him off.
“Sorry I forgot that’s gross to you.”
“Ear stuff is gross to most people.”
“I think your ears are cute.” He smiles.
“I think you’re weird.” You giggle. “And cute.” You add. “Very, very cute.” You smile. You don’t know how even on nights like this he can make you smile. On nights when nothing feels right and the world is broken, Adrian is the only thing that makes sense to you.
“Well you’re way cuter.” He smiles.
“I’m so deeply in love with you.” You say what you’re thinking out loud.
“Well that’s a relief because I’m so deeply in love with you… and I’ll be deeply in love with you in the morning too. I’m gonna be here all night. I’m not gonna leave you- well… I might get up to pee, but that’s like a 2 minute side quest. Okay the point is, I want you to try to sleep.”
“Can you keep talking? I’ll close my eyes, but I really love your voice. It helps. Just until I fall asleep?” He smiles at your request.
“I’d talk all night if it helped. I’d talk until my voice box broke. I’d talk until I die.” He vows.
“Please don’t die. I just want you to talk long enough that I can stay calm enough to fall asleep.”
“I guess I can do that too, but where’s the challenge in that? I could tell you how much I love you in a million ways and it still wouldn’t be enough. It’s like those papers you wrote in detention where you have to write you’ll never do again what you did wrong like 100 times on a sheet of loose leaf… I guess I’ll start off by staying that you’re strong and I love you and I’m proud of you and that I’m happy you’re strong, but you don’t have to be so strong around me. You can let me take care of you. I’m here and you’re safe.”
Your eyes get heavy and you fade away to Adrian’s reassurances.

You Really Gotta Get Better At Lying
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Featuring platonic!Peacemaker, Goff, and the rest of the 11th Street Kids
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: You’re a civilian with a superhero boyfriend. It was working out pretty well for you both until one day when you’re hanging out in his best friend’s trailer and you get stuck in the crossfire. This is based on episode 6.
Warnings: Mentions of guns, Cannon compliment jokes, language, and violence, joking references to m-preg and daddy kinks (this is Adrian and Chris we’re talking about and it’s based on the butterfly interrogation scene lol), Angst with a happy ending
A/N: Hey Guys! Cannot believe this is my first full fic I’ve been able to finish since last August…11 months! This year has been pretty nuts for me, but I miss my man :)))) ❤️🧜‍♂️❤️ (Also the part in italics is a flashback if that’s not clear.)
“Come in Adrian!” You heard a voice coming from the trailer as your boyfriend knocked.
“How did you know it was me?” Adrian asked.
“You knock in a very annoying way. Hi, (Y/N).” Chris said as you walked into his place.
“I’m sorry.” You placed a hand on Adrian’s shoulder.
“Well I think it it’s cute.” You smiled at him. He smiled down at you, breaking into an infectious smile. Your own smile only grew. “Hi, Chris.” You said turning to look at Peacemaker. Today was your day off and Adrian wanted to get wasted at the trailer. Despite not always getting along, you were pretty good friends with Chris so you loved going to his place with Adrian to hang out. When you got there he was in his super suit. This was no surprise to you. Adrian had brought his as well. Usually a day at Chris’ meant at least an hour would be spent doing target practice or what you liked to call watching your two favorite idiots fuck around.
You had learned about Vigilante not too long into dating Adrian. It wasn’t hard to figure out. You loved him, but he was an awful liar. One slip up lead to another and suddenly it was 3am and Vigilante was knocking on your door. You’d had a nightmare and called Adrian because you knew he was a night owl. You woke up hyperventilating and sweating, too scared to go back to sleep. You just wanted to hear his voice, but you weren’t gonna complain when he said he couldn’t sleep either and was on a late night walk by your apartment. You didn’t question how weird that sounded, you just wanted to be with him so you said he could come over. What you didn’t know was that he was actually on patrol on your side of town. He meant to change, before reaching your door, but somehow he was in such a hurry to get to you he just forgot. He didn’t realize when you screamed upon opening the door, already shaken up from your nightmare and now confused as to why the news’ least favorite costumed crime fighter was at your apartment. He screamed back at you.
“What are you screaming about?!” Vigilante asked.
“What am I screaming about?! What are you screaming about?!”
“Okay! Stop screaming! I am really confused right now!”
The more you thought about it the more you realized you knew that voice.
“…Adrian…”
“Of course it’s me! I know it’s late and it’s dark, but is it that hard to recognize me? I think you might need to check your eyes again, Bug-a-boo.”
One of those silly nicknames you loved. It was Adrian.
“…mask…”
You saw his eyes go wide behind the tinted red visor. His gloved hands went up to touch his face. He’d forgotten.
“Oh shit…” He said under his breath. “I- I don’t know who Adrian is…who’s that? I’m sorry I scared you, innocent civilian. I was just out doing my patrol duties and I-“
“Adrian…” You started to tear up.
“I told you I’m not Adrian. I’m Vigilante. Common mistake. Both names sound like super similar actually-“
“Adrian…” You cut him off again, bursting into tears, hugging him. He sighs.
“You’re okay, (Y/N). I’m here. Everything’s okay.”
You stared at a jar on Chris’ table. It had some sort of bug in it. It was a species you’d never seen before.
“What’s that?” You asked.
“You kept Goff?” Adrian questioned.
“Is that like the name of the bug or did you guys name it?” You keep staring, confused. It almost seems to stare back at you.
“That’s his name. We found him in a shitty politician.” Adrian answered. In him…? You didn’t want to know so you decided not to press as the boys continued to argue about keeping Goff as a dangerous pet.
“Why is he dangerous? Is he invasive?” You questioned.
“You could say that!” Adrian joked.
“Where is it from?”
“I don’t know, but I don’t think they came from our solar system. I feel like NASA would have figured that out by now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were fucking lying to us.” Chris said on the verge of telling another conspiracy theory.
“What…?” You finally broke your gaze from Goff.
“Don’t even fucking get me started on the moon landing and-“
“No, I mean this- this is an alien?” You cut off Chris. You turn to Adrian. “You’re fighting aliens?!”
“Yeah! How cool is that?!” His face lit up.
“So fucking cool!” You started nerding out with your boyfriend until your attention was drawn to Goff who was drawing a peace sign on the jar in some sort of weird goo. The three of you, after taking about a minute to freak out, sat on the couch to investigate. You sat in between Chris and Adrian. You were hoping this would keep them from arguing, but it did nothing of the sort. Before you knew it your head was resting on the back of the couch as the two guys argued above you. “Will you guys just kiss and make up already?! Jesus! Get a room! Chris you gotta have more patients and at least try to see his point of view. Adrian, baby, we have to ask yes or no questions because Goff can’t speak to us verbally and we don’t have an alphabet for him to spell things out with.”
“What if we got like an ouija board and just let him move the little triangle thing around?” Adrian wondered.
“I think that’s a great idea, but we don’t have one right now, so just while we’re limited on time we gotta keep it to yes or no questions, alright? Think of it like that pendulum thing I showed you. It can only swing so many ways like how Goff can only tap so many times.” Adrian finally seemed to understand. One of your favorite things to do together was info dump about your interests. Not too long ago you’d had a really big hyperfixation on ghosts, which is probably where he’d gotten the idea for the ouija board in the first place. It wasn’t that he was stupid, he was often just running a marathon in his head to find different solutions to the problems everyone else had already given up on. While he was trying to figure out a solution, everybody thought he was an idiot for even trying. That was one of the many reasons you and Adrian worked so well together. You both understood how the other person’s brain worked.
“Okay. Goff, are you here to put babies in us like in alien?”
Two taps: No.
Adrian sighs.
“Dude, you’re upset about that?” Chris asks.
“Well how else am I gonna experience motherhood?” Your boyfriend asked sadly. You rested your hand on his knee.
“I’m sorry, baby. But you know what? Maybe one day you can be a really incredible dad to our kids.” You blushed.
“You think I’d be an incredible dad?” He asked in awe.
“I think you’d be the most incredible dad.” You kiss him as Chris gags.
“Now it’s my turn to say get a room and not one in my trailer. I don’t want you guys fucking roleplaying your daddy m-preg shit in my bathroom.” Chris rolled his eyes.
“Oh my god that is not what I meant! Please can we just get back to the alien bug sitting on your coffee table?!” You exclaimed.
One tap: Yes.
“See! Even Goff agrees you’re being ridiculous!” You tell him.
“I am not!” Chris started to argue like a toddler.
Two taps: No.
“You’re acting like a toddler.”
One tap: Yes.
“Woah! It’s like Goff’s on (Y/N)’s side.” You smiled at Adrian’s amusement.
One Tap: Yes.
“You are not helping me here.” Chris whispered in a harsh tone to the jar.
One Tap: Yes.
You laughed. “Goff, do you wanna be friends?”
One Tap: Yes.
As you and Adrian continued to argue with Chris, much to Goff’s amusement, Adrian’s phone started to ring.
“Who is this…Vigilante? I- I don’t know that person. That’s um- is that even a name? I’m- sounds Italian and I’m- I’m- I’m American, so I can’t even-“ Chris ripped the phone from his hand and you gave him a sympathetic look.
“Babe, you really gotta get better at lying.”
“I’m great at lying!” You gave him a smile.
“Okay, honey.”
“I am!”
“A month after we started dating you showed up at my door fully suited up, completely forgetting to change after patrol.”
“That’s because I wanted to. It was my way of telling you.” He was obviously lying again
“Okay, honey.” You smiled as Chris shushed you. He was panicked, far more panicked than usual.
“What’s happening?” You questioned, starting to get nervous.
“The entire police force of Evergreen is outside right now. This place is fucking crawling with cops.” Chris whispered, opening his sunroof.
“Are we gonna fucking crawl up there?!” You whisper yelled, trying to keep your voice down. You were a civilian and despite hanging around superheroes you had never been in on the action yourself.
Adrian grabbed your hand. “It’s gonna be okay.” He tried to give you reassurance, despite not quite knowing what they were up against. “I need you to promise me you’ll stick by me, okay?” You stared at the roof in fear. “(Y/N), I need you to promise me.” Adrian looked at you desperately searching for an agreement.
“O-okay” You stuttered, your mind barley able to process what was happening. Chris climbs through helping pull you up as Adrian lifts you through the hole. You were so scared you didn’t even really notice Adrian had Goff tied to him with duct tape. Chris started climbing in a nearby tree. Adrian pushed you towards it. You shook your head at him, giving him a face that said ‘There is no way in hell I’m doing this’.
“I’m not gonna let you fall.” He promised. So much for that. Not long into climbing Adrian himself fell out of the tree. Usually you would find his clumsiness cute, but now was not the time. Chris put his free hand over your mouth to stop you from screaming.
“Oh fuck…I’m okay…” He said, a little out of it, just having at the wind knocked out of him. Of fuck. Goff. This is when you fully process the glass jar taped to Adrian’s back…the broken glass jar. Chris quickly helps you get down. You run to Adrian.
“Are you okay?!”
“I’m okay, I promise.” Adrian reassures you.
“DON’T MOVE!” The police detective yelled, pointing her gun at you. Adrian rested one hand on his hip, close to his knife and the other on your back so he could push you underneath him in a second if bullets started flying. You were terrified. You didn’t even notice Goff flying towards the woman until he started to fly into her mouth. Now you knew what Adrian meant by in the senator. Blood started pouring out of her mouth.
“What the fuck?!” You yelled in shock as Chris and Adrian started pulling you up from the ground. Everything was happening too fast. Suddenly you were running through the woods. Bullets were flying. Knives were being thrown.
“At worst, he’s paralyzed!” Adrian’s voice barley broke through to your clouded mind. You could see a clearing up ahead. Just get to the clearing. You can do it. Just get to the clearing. You saw Chris stop in front of you. He had a gun pointed directly at him. Then another. You and Adrian stop behind Chris. You’re surrounded. Adrian keeps you close. Then one of them falls to the ground. You grab onto Adrian’s back, not wanting to limit the movement of his arms. He reaches behind himself to put a hand on you. You turned to see another policeman had shot the guy who was pointing a gun at you.
“What the fuck?!” You yelled, trying to keep your panic down.
“Do you wanna ask stupid questions or do you wanna live?” He asked you as you hid behind Adrian again.
Chris and Adrian pulled you away from the scene as the man shot the defenseless low level cops on the ground. He mocked their cries as he shot them. Chris and Adrian brought you to a car the man had told you about. A getaway car that was waiting for you just down the road at the edge of the woods. Adrian shoved you into the car. You sat in the back seat with him as he continued to argue with Chris, even throwing his phone out the window at one point. He kept an arm around your shaking body. Eagly was squawking in the passenger seat. It was all too much.
“SHUT UP! BOTH OF YOU PLEASE.” You started to cry. “I LOVE YOU BOTH, BUT PLEASE! FUCK!”
Adrian placed a kiss to your forehead gently starting to rub your arm. “I’m sorry.”
“No, it’s not you. Usually I wouldn’t care, but what the fuck is happening?! Is the detective fucking dead?! Like is that what they do?! Just like fucking drill into your skull through your mouth and play Ratatouille?!”
“They can go through your butt too…” Adrian said quietly.
“Oh great! So glad! That must be so much more pleasant!” Adrian went to open his mouth, but you knew what he was gonna say. “Yes, I’m being sarcastic!”
“Okay. Thank you for specifying. Let’s just breathe. Can you do that? Can you breathe with me?” Adrian asks, starting to exaggerate his breathing for you to follow. He knew you were starting to get worked up. You always got upset when you were confused, but this was an entirely new level with an added sense of extreme terror and danger. You try to follow his breathing. “In and out. Good job.”
“Forget about the aliens I wanna know what the fuck was up with that one cop!” Chris questions from the driver’s seat, now done using Adrian’s phone to call headquarters.
“You mean you didn’t fucking know that guy?!” You question.
“No! Why would I just know a crazy fucker at the police station?!” Chris yells.
“I don’t know! Maybe the fact that he gave you a car?! You know some pretty weird fucking people! I’ve never met King Shark!” You scream, letting out a sigh, leaning further into Adrian’s touch as he kisses your forehead again, still trying to calm you.
The rest of your short drive to headquarters was mostly spent in silence. You had never been there, but you knew where it was. You were the only person Adrian told everything to. You walked into headquarters quickly, not wanting to be seen stashing the getaway car.
“What the fuck just happened?!” Chris yelled bursting into headaquarters.
“Who’s the civilian? I don’t think I have to remind you of the privacy of this mission.” A man who seemed to be in charge asked as you tried to make yourself small feeling scared and embarrassed. You think you remember Adrian saying his name was Murn.
“They’re my partner.” Adrian told the team.
“You have a partner?” The man who was absolutely John Economos asked. He was even taller than you imagined.
“I told you I had a partner. You knew about them.”
“Yeah, but I didn’t think they were real.” John laughed at his own joke.
“Um…hi. Sorry. Very real partner over here, what the fuck is happening?!” You interrupted. They all exchanged a series of looks you couldn’t read before one of them spoke up.
“Hi my name’s Leota. Why don’t we go talk in the other room for a bit?” You didn’t answer her, you just squeezed Adrian’s hand, not wanting to be separated from him.
“It’s okay. You can go. I’ll just be a few minutes. I promise you can trust her. Eagly does!” Adrian smiled at you.
“I guess he’s pretty good judge of character.” You joked, giving Adrian a smile.
“It’s okay. We’re safe here. Here, take this.” He reached for the back of his chair and grabbed a sweater he’d accidentally left there. He wrapped it around you. He knew how much you loved to wear his clothes. You were happy to be surrounded by his smell. You sighed, calming a little bit. “I won’t be long and I’m not gonna leave the building. I promise.” You nodded, reluctantly following Leota.
“Harcourt you handle this. Peacemaker, Economos in my office now.” You heard as you walked up the stairs. As Leota was answering some of your questions Harcourt and Adrian were downstairs having a very difficult conversation.
“You don’t look so happy. I thought you loved violence. I thought you said it was awesome.” Harcourt started, her voice thick with sarcasm. Adrian missed it yet again.
“Not when they’re involved.”
“Well maybe you shouldn’t have involved them then.”
“I didn’t mean to! I’m not normal. I know and usually I don’t care, but they are the only thing in my life that makes me feel normal- the only part of my life that feels normal. Even…even when I’m just Adrian Chase, the busboy at fennel fields, everybody acts like I’m a fucking freak or some big burden. But not them. They let me be myself. They like me! They’re separate from all of this. I should be allowed to have this one thing.”
Harcourt’s face softened. “You should be and I’m sorry…but that’s not how this life works. I know you want to keep them safe. It’s only gonna get more dangerous from here. You know what you have to do, right?”
“I’m not doing it.”
“Look…” Harcourt paused taking a deep breath. “Adrian…I’m sorry. Doing what we do- it isn’t easy.” She used his real name. He thinks this might even been the first time she’s really called him anything other than Vigilante, psycho, or dumb shit.
While they were talking downstairs you were upstairs asking all sorts of questions to Leota about the butterflies. She was answering as much as she could until Adrian knocked on the door. “Can I have a minute alone with (Y/N)?” He asked.
“Of course. Let me know if either of you need anything.” She smiled at you on the way out.
“She’s nice. I’m sorry I freaked out earlier. I think I finally have a handle on everything now.” You smiled at him, but he wasn’t looking at you. His eyes were glued to the ground. “Ade, what’s wrong?” You asked.
“I’m breaking up with you…”
“Yeah haha very funny. Now, what actually happened downstairs?” He stayed silent. “You’re serious? Adrian, you’re not breaking up with me.”
“Yeah I am actually.”
“Why?”
“Because I don’t want to date you anymore.”
“That’s not true. You’re an awful fucking liar, so look at me and tell me why you’re breaking up with me.”
“I already told you why.” He was starting to get choked up.
“Adrian, I love you.”
“I love you too-“
“Then don’t break up with me!” You cut him off.
“I have to!”
“Why?!”
“I need to keep you safe!” He raised his voice at you. He’d never raised his voice at you like that before. You started crying.
“Why don’t I get a choice?! What about what I want?! Shouldn’t it be my choice?! Adrian, I don’t give a fuck if it’s dangerous! Before I met you my life was awful! I was a freak! You are the only person who makes me feel like I can be my fucking self! You are the only person I don’t feel like a fucking inconvince around! The only one who understands me! Why can’t we just have this one fucking thing?!” You yelled.
He laughs through the few tears that had just started falling down his cheeks. “That’s what I said.” He sighs, sitting on the couch, wrapping you in his arms. “I’m sorry.“
“Please don’t leave me. You’re my entire world.”
“I may be your world, but you’re my sun, I live for you- because of you. There would be nothing without you. Nothing.” He kisses you on the forehead.
“So, don’t break up with me.” You were pleading quietly through your tears at this point.
“I’m sorry. I don’t wanna say I was eavesdropping, but I was totally eavesdropping. If you’re worried about them being safe I think I can help.” Leota entered the doorway again.
“How?” Adrian asked.
“Well, I have my wife set up in a safe house right now while things are a little extra sticky. Sometimes things get lonely. I bet she’d love a new roommate.”
“Adebayo, are you serious right now?”
“Very serious, Adrian.” She smiled.
“Oh my god I could kiss you.”
She laughs at his comment. “Don’t kiss me. I’m married. Go kiss your partner who you’re not breaking up with and don’t tell Harcourt about this.”
“I won’t.” He smiles.
“Okay, now I think you should really take her advice and kiss me.” You smile up at him, kissing him.
“Okay, lovebirds. I’m gonna go distract buzzkill 1 and buzzkill 2 downstairs. I’ll let you know if you’re needed.” She smiles, leaving you to alone.
“I can’t believe you almost broke up with me.”
“Yeah that would have been stupid.”
“Really stupid.” You added, both laughing. “I love you more than anything.”
“I love you too more than anything.” He said. You both smiled, kissing. You snuggled deeper into him and started a discussion about the logistics of how you would navigate this new adventure.

Why Is This So Surprising?
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
(With cameos from all of the 11th Street Kids)
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: The team sees a softer side to Adrian when his partner gets upset.
Warnings: Descriptions of something similar to a panic attack or autistic meltdown
A/N: So funny story this has actually been in my drafts for almost year and I forgot about it because I broke my phone the week I wrote it and got a new phone, but I’m thinking of maybe ending my hiatus and coming back soon. In the meantime I have some old fics I never posted. College and my mental health got in the way and I never got to finish some old WIPs, but I think I might finally be ready to pick them back up again! Hope you enjoy! ❤️🧜‍♂️❤️
You felt your breath catch in your throat as your lungs expand and contract trying to get air in. You were trying to forget about the mission you had just been on and you were having little success. You were able to push down your emotions on the car ride back to the old video store and you were currently staring at the piano, avoiding eye contact, in an effort to block out what Harcourt was saying. If you didn’t hear the debriefing it couldn’t be real, right? If you didn’t hear how terrible the mission went, it just simply didn’t happen. Sadly that wasn’t true. You found it getting harder for you to breathe. You pushed yourself up from your chair, getting ready to walk upstairs to be by yourself for a minute when you’re stopped by Harcourt.
“Where do you think you’re going? I didn’t say you could leave. This is important.” She starts.
“I don’t need a recap of this. Thanks.” You say, continuing upstairs, your voice cracking.
“Hey, (L/N), we all did things we aren’t proud of today-“
“You didn’t do what I did!” You yell at her. Suddenly the room starts spinning. It all just feels too real. You can feel everything and it’s too much. You hear a clock ticking, water rushing through pipes, feet slapping on the pavement outside, the click click clicking of heels, the electricity in the lights, the lights that just won’t stop flickering. You back up into a wall and slide down it, tears blocking your vision. You let a sob come out.
“What are we supposed to do?” Chris asks quietly, standing up and walking closer.
“I don’t fucking know! I’ve never seen them like this!” Harcourt whisper yells. Adebayo stands up and walks over to you, the rest of the team crowding around. They’re making it harder to breathe until you start hyperventilating.
“What can we do for you?” She asks.
“You guys can move the fuck over. Give them some space.” Adrian says, pushing his way through the crowd. “Somebody go get them some water.” He commands and John leaves the room to grab you a glass. “Are you pro touch or anti touch right now?” He asks, but you feel like you’re underwater. You feel like speaking is like moving through quicksand and you just can’t manage it. Adrian slowly puts his hand out towards you, like a wounded animal. He tries to take your hand in his and at first a little jumpy, you let him. He puts your hand over his chest and takes deep exaggerated breaths. “Follow my breathing, okay? In and out.” He instructs you and you breathe together. “You’re doing such a good job.” He praises. When your breathing becomes somewhat regulated Adrian moves so he’s sitting against the wall and you’re leaning against his chest. He’s giving you the pressure you so desperately need, as he sways with you. He brings you back to this planet. Slowly, gravity starts to feel normal again. Now that you can breathe a steady stream of tears starts to flow. He wipes them occasionally as you lay with your ear to his chest, listening to his heartbeat drown out the other noises that were too loud. “It wasn’t your fault. You did your best. You’re okay. Everything is okay.” He reminds you. John hands him the glass of water. “Here, (Y/N), drink this. You need to stay hydrated.” Adrian reminds you, as you take the glass of water. It feels cool against your throat which had previously felt like fire. “Thank you.” Adrian says to John.
“You’re welcome.” John responds. The rest of the team just stares. They’ve been staring the whole time. You don’t even notice the stares and neither does Adrian. Your minds are on more important matters. You completely forget they’re there until they start to speak up.
“How did you know what to do?” Harcourt asks.
“What do you mean?” Adrian answers her question with another question.
“Well we didn’t even know what to do and you say you don’t have emotions.” John comments.
“I say I don’t have emotions like other people. That doesn’t mean I don’t have emotions. I just have them differently.” He clarifies.
“Well you clearly don’t know what to do when I’m crying.” Chris starts. He then clears his throat. “I mean if I had cried you wouldn’t know what to do. Because I never cry! Crying is for babies!” He adds. Adebayo gives him a look and Harcourt slaps him on the arm.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” Harcourt whisper yells. You don’t take offense to his comment. You know he has masculinity issues.
“First of all crying is healthy. It’s a fundamental part of human nature. Second of all they’re my partner. We’ve slept in the same bed for over a year. I’d think I’d know how to take care of them. Why is this so surprising?” Adrian roles his eyes at the others while they shrug. Everyone has something to say, but they just decide to keep their mouths shut. As the tears start to slow, you shift in his arms, getting more comfortable. You don’t realize how tired you are until your eyes start to get heavy after you’ve made it to a comfortable position. You look up at him with pleading eyes.
“Can we go home now?” You ask.
“Of course, Babe.” He says, planting a kiss on the top of your head. Adrian moves you off of his lap, stands, and reaches out a hand for you to lift yourself up with. The others wish you well as you collect your things to go home.
“(Y/N), you don’t have to come in tomorrow. Get some rest…and Chase…I’m sorry we underestimated you.” Harcourt tells the both of you. You can’t see your boyfriend’s goofy smile in the dark of the night outside the video store, but you can hear it in his voice as he thanks Harcourt and bids his goodbye. When you get home Adrian puts you in his softest t-shirt and you climb into bed. He pulls you to lay on him and you don’t object. You enjoy the feeling of his chest rising and falling and the sound of his heartbeat. You like that you can hear it better now that his suit is off. It’s comforting. He’s comforting.

More Than I’m Willing To Lose Part 1
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Featuring platonic!11th Street Kids
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
Prompt: After Project Butterfly, ARGUS decided to make some new additions to the team. You and Adrian have been secretly, hopelessly in love with each other for a year now, but are unaware of the other person’s feelings. Tired of waiting for Adrian, you decide to go on a date with someone else that doesn’t end very well. This is Adrian x GN!Reader.
Warnings: Reader injury, mentions of vomit, gun violence, panic, hospitals, cannon typical Peacemaker violence and language
A/N: So funny story…I’ve actually had the first two chapters of this in my drafts since last August because I was afraid if I posted them I would never finish the fic. A year later I actually wrote two more chapters, even though this was originally only supposed to be three parts. The chapters are done, but are still going through some proofreading and light changes. I’m gonna post a chapter once a week. The original concept for this story was to write what I called at the time “the ultimate hurt/comfort”. The concept I started with was based on an episode of Criminal Minds, but it expanded overtime. I hope you guys enjoy!! ❤️🧜‍♂️❤️
You were happily kicking your feet back and fourth at the table waiting to be let go from the debriefing. After everything went down with the butterflies, ARGUS decided it would be best to expand their small Evergreen team. You were the first addition. They had planned on adding more, but after a year you were still waiting on a big enough mission to present itself for you to be assigned more muscle. Truth be told Harcourt, Adebayo, Vigilante, and Peacemaker could handle themselves. You were great help in the van when Economos needed it. An extra hand was always needed on computers and medical needs. You weren’t a fighter, but you still found your place on the team.
“What are you so happy about?” Adebayo asked in a chipper tone.
“I have a date tonight.” You say blushing. You hadn’t been on a date in a long time. Truth be told, you were holding out for a certain team member of yours, but you feared Adrian would never get the hint and ask you out, let alone even have feelings for you, so you were doing your best to move on. He sat up a little straighter in his chair and stayed uncharacteristically quite, but you didn’t really notice. You were preoccupied by thoughts about your date and questions from your teammates.
“You got a date? Who would wanna date you?” Chris laughs. You roll your eyes.
“A really hot guy! Who’s much cooler and better look than you!” You laugh back at him. You know he’s just teasing, but you can’t help, but feel just a little hurt. You push down the feeling.
“Where did you two meet?” Leota asks.
“At a bar. He walked up to me and we started talking. It was mostly about work, but I didn’t mind listening to him. His job sounded super interesting.” You tell them.
“What do you mean you talked about work? Your job is a secret.” Adrian finally spoke up.
“Well he actually did most of the talking. He doesn’t actually know anything about computers so I just rambled on about coding. He thinks I work as a computer specialist at Best Buy.” You laugh. Adrian’s face stays deadpan.
“What does he do for work?” He asks.
“He’s a lawyer, I think. I don’t know. I can’t really remember what kind of law he specializes in.” You say, hoping to end the conversation. His eyes bore into you.
“Well that’s very exciting and I hope you have fun, but not too much fun. We have to all have to be here at 9am tomorrow.” Harcourt reminds the team. Everybody groans. The meeting ends and you start walking to your car, but Adrian stops you.
“I don’t think you should go on that date.” Adrian starts.
“And why not?” You ask.
“I just have a bad feeling. I don’t think this guy is who he says he is. You barely know anything about him! What if he’s some sort of criminal?!” Adrian begs you to not go on the date. You can’t help, but begin to bubble with anger. This is the first date you’ve gone on in over a year thanks to Adrian and he doesn’t want you to go on this one and the only reason he can pull out of his ass is his stupid intuition? No. You’re going on that fucking date.
“I’m not who I say either. Does that make me dangerous? I appreciate your concern, but I’m going on the date, Adrian.” You say, before leaving him in the parking lot.
Maybe you should have listened to him. The date was nice, but if you were being honest you did feel like he was hiding something. You pushed down the feeling though because you knew you were hiding something too.
Your date Jack was nice enough. He paid for the date and walked you home. It wasn’t until you got home that you felt not just uneasy, but scared. You were walking up the stairs to your door when you heard a clicking noise. You worked around guns enough to know exactly what that sound was. You slowly turned around to confirm your suspicions.
“What are you doing?” You ask.
“Shut up. I’m the one asking the questions.” Jack says. You nod, feeling your breath catch in your throat. It isn’t often you’ve found yourself in trouble like this, but on the rare occasion this did happen your team was always there to keep you safe. Adrian was always there to keep you safe. A tear slipped down your cheek at the thought of Adrian. He told you not to go on this date and you didn’t listen to him. Now you were never going to see him again. “Where is the Task Force X headquarters?” He asks.
“What?” You ask.
“Come on, dumbass! I know you’re on their team. You’re going to tell me everything you know, including who Vigilante is and what you’re currently working on and you’re going to tell me quickly or else you’ll never see your team again.” He rambled, stepping closer, gun pointed at you.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about!” You cry and play dumb.
“You should really get better security on your home computers. Your computers at work are fine, but the second you got home and pulled out your little laptop, you were mine.” That’s when you stop dead in your tracks. You always do your work from headquarters. Always. Except for the day you worked from home sick.
“I don’t really need you. I could just take your laptop. I just thought this would be more fun. After all, the thrill came entirely from stringing you along. Burglary isn’t really my style and I didn’t really feel like taking the time to hack into your laptop. You were so eager to go out with me too. I barley had to ask.” He laughs before pulling the trigger. You feel a sharp pain in your shoulder and you fall to the ground with a scream, at least you think you screamed. You can’t hear anything over the ringing in your ears. You can’t move. All you can do is cry. You feel hands all over you, searching your pockets. Your keys are taken from you as you watch Jack break into your house. As quickly as he’s in, he’s out, laptop in hand. He’s got what he needs and now he’s going to leave you to die. The ringing starts to go down and you start to feel hands on your body again. You try to move, but cry out in pain. You clench your eyes shut in both fear and pain.
“Please don’t touch me. Please. Please get away from me. Please don’t hurt me anymore” You beg. You don’t know who is above you, but you just hope it isn’t Jack or whoever he may be working with.
“Shhh it’s gonna be okay. I’m here. It’s me. It’s Adrian.” You hear his calming voice and you open your tear stained eyes to see him above you in his Vigilante suit. Your steady stream of tears turns into sobs. You hear footsteps approaching quickly and you start to hyperventilate.
“Peacemaker!” Adrian calls over his shoulder. When you realize it’s just Chris you calm down a little. “We need to get them help.” Adrian says, voice quivering.
“What happened?” Chris asks in shock.
“You were right.” You cry out, taking a deep breath. “I shouldn’t have gone on the date. You were both right. Who would want to go on a date with me? I should have known.” You hiccup through your cries. Chris stiffens.
“Hey, don’t talk like that! We need to go get them help.” Adrian says. You let go of any tears you were previously holding back.
“Please don’t leave me!” You cry. Adrian weaves one hand through your hair and the other holds your cheek as he lightly brushes his thumb across your skin.
“I promise I’ll never leave you. Peacemaker’s gonna go get my car.” Adrian promises.
“I am?” Chris asks.
“Yes, you are dude.” Adrian says, tossing him his keys. Chris runs a couple blocks to the car.
“I’m sorry.” You whine after your sobs subside a little.
“Why are you sorry?” Adrian asks.
“I didn’t listen to you. I should have listened to-“
“No, it’s okay. It’s not your fault.” Adrian cuts you off. Your eyes start to feel heavy.
“Hey, stay with me. Stay awake.” He shakes you lightly.
“I’m so tired. Adrian, I’m so scared. Am I going to die?” You ask him. You think you might faintly hear the car pulling up.
“No, I’m not going to let that happen. Peacemaker’s here. We’re going to take you to the hospital. This is going to hurt, okay?” Adrian asks. You nod and brace yourself, but when he picks you up you don’t think you could have prepared yourself for that kind of pain. You scream and grip his arms, chest, neck- anything you can hold onto.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” Adrian rambles out a spew of apologies. Chris hits the gas pedal as soon as you are in the back seat with Adrian.
“I feel like I’m gonna be sick.” You whine.
“It’s okay. You can get sick if you need to. I won’t be upset with you.” Adrian secretly cringes at the thought of you throwing up in his car, but he knows you can’t help it.
“Actually can you try to hold it in because if you get sick, I’ll get sick and I can’t drive and throw up.” Chris requests. Adrian gives him a death glare from the rear view mirror. The two speed to the only hospital they know they can go to, the hospital they all went to after the final fight with the butterflies. The staff is less than happy to see Vigilante and Peacemaker walk back in, but they already know what the two men look like under the mask and the helmet, so it was the safest place to go. When you arrive you’re immediately placed on a bed and rolled away.
“No, I need him! Please!” You scream as you’re hauled away from Adrian. You don’t know wether to call him Adrian or Vigilante because your consciousness is slipping and you can’t remember what he’s dressed as, you just know you need him by your side. The nurses hold you down.
“Don’t move. You’re going to make things worse. He’ll be in the waiting room until you’re out of surgery.” The nurse promised. It broke Adrian’s heart to hear you cry for him and not be able to run to you, but he knew if he interfered that it would only take them longer to help you. The truth was he was scared too. He had never been this scared before. He had never felt like this in his life. He realized he was now also on the verge of throwing up.
“They’re gonna be fine.” Chris promised, placing a had on Adrian’s shoulder. He wasn’t 100% confident, but Adrian didn’t need to know that.
By the time you woke up, the whole team was there and Adrian was in his street clothes again. You saw everyone standing outside the waiting room talking while Adrian slept in a chair with his head against your mattress. You couldn’t really understand what they were saying so you just tuned them out. Instead you focused on Adrian’s breathing and his soft messy curls. You traced each curl with your eyes to calm yourself.
Outside your room the team was talking about you and, little did you know, Adrian.
“I’ve never seen him like this before. I’ve never seen him care so much about someone.” Chris starts.
“I thought he didn’t have emotions.” Economos questions.
“Everyone has emotions, even Adrian.” Adebayo added.
“It’s true. I’ve seen him cry before.” Harcourt added her two cents. They all give her a look.
“But can we at least agree he’s being MORE emotional than usual?” Economos asks. They all nod.
Back in the room you decide to start playing with Adrian’s hair. He jolts awake, only to realize it’s just you and he relaxes into your fingers. He then fully realizes it’s you again and practically jumps out of his seat.
“You’re awake! I’m so thankful that Peacemaker and I were patrolling that area and heard the gun shot. Never do anything like that to me ever again!” Adrian exclaims.
“I’m sorry.” You apologize.
“Don’t be sorry. Just don’t do it again.” Adrian sighs, taking your hand in his. The rest of the team must have heard your conversation because they start to shuffle in.
“Hey, kid.” Chris says softly. You always hated that nickname when you started to work with the team, but you had grown to love it. It was given to you because you were the youngest on the team. You were a few years younger than Adrian making you over 10 years younger than Chris.
“How are you feeling?” Adebayo asks.
“Not so hot.” You make an effort at a laugh. You grip Adrian’s hand a little tighter unintentionally and he gives your hand back a squeeze to remind you he’s there. It’s hard to feel all of the spotlight on you. You can’t help, but feel like you’ve fucked up badly. John shifts uncomfortably where he stands.
“I’m gonna head back the van. I’ll be on coms when you get what you need.” Economos starts to head out.
“What do you need?” You ask.
“Could you give us some privacy?” Harcourt asks for the room. Chris and Adebayo leave to stand outside the door. Adrian reluctantly stands up, but you don’t let go of his hand. It’s embarrassing how you hear your heart monitor increase at the thought of him leaving you again. Harcourt must sense or literally hear your panic, despite trying to keep it down.
“Chase can stay if you want.” She says. You nod and he sits back down. Your heartbeat falls into a steady pace when he starts to rub his thumb against your hand.
“I need to ask you a few questions. They might be kind of hard to answer, but it‘s very important you answer them to keep yourself and the rest of us safe. You can take a break at any time.” She tells you and you nod. The first questions she asked were about Jack’s appearance. It was easy to describe hair color, but when you had to go more into detail it almost felt like you were back there with him. Your heart monitor increased again. You felt a tear slip down your cheek. You avoided looking at Adrian. You should have listened to him when he told you not to go on the date. You then went into detail on what he was looking for and what he asked you. By the end you were crying so hard you could barely get out the words.
“I think they should take a break.” Adrian told Harcourt.
“No, I have to keep going.” You told him.
“No, you don’t (Y/N). You can take a break.” She tells you.
“I have to keep going. It was my fault. First I didn’t check to make sure my connection was secure on my laptop and then I went on a date with him even though you said I shouldn’t. I should have believed you and Chris. Why would a guy like me? It’s my fault. He said I made it easy.” You cry.
“It’s not your fault. Chris was just being an asshole. You are worthy of attention from guys. It’s not your fault you try to see the best in people. Hell, I wonder what you see in me and why you’re my friend everyday.” Adrian says. Truth be told you see much more in Adrian than you’ve ever told him. You think you might love him, but you know you can’t say that. You can’t handle the rejection right now.
“I’m going to go out to the van. I think John’s got something.” She informs you. You forgot they were wearing coms and you weren’t. It was odd to not have their voices in your ear.
After everyone is gone you look back to Adrian.
“Hey Adrian, can I ask you a favor?” You ask.
“I’ll do literally anything for you.” You smile at him.
“You don’t have to if you don’t want to…” You trail off, embarrassed by your request.
“What is it? Whatever it is, I’ll do it.” Adrian says, very adamant on helping you.
“Can you lay in bed with me and hold me?” You ask quietly. He smiles.
“Move over.” He instructs you as he helps you settle into the other side of the bed. He takes off his shoes and slowly climbs in, sliding his arms around you. You place your head on his chest so you can hear his heartbeat. You start to drift off to sleep to the sound of his heartbeat and the feeling of his chest rising and falling with his breath.
“I promise I’m never going to let anything like this happen again. I’m going to keep you safe. I’ll make this right. I love you.” He says as you fade away. He must have thought you were already sleeping. You would respond if you didn’t feel so heavy. You’re not even sure if you heard him right. You could just be high on pain meds. You probably just imagined it.

More Than I’m Willing To Lose Part 2
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Featuring platonic!11th Street Kids
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Part 1, Part 3, Part 4
Prompt: Adrian takes care of you after the incident. This is Part 2 for More Than I’m Willing To Lose.
Warnings: panic, meltdowns, hitting yourself and pulling your own hair during a meltdown, gun violence, hospitals, non-sexual nudity, non-sexual showering with another person, wound care, cannon typical Peacemaker violence and language
A/N: Hi guys! I meant to post this yesterday, but forgot. I’ve never been on a weekly posting schedule before. Super exciting! I hope you enjoy the chapter and the rest of the series! ❤️🧜‍♂️❤️
It wasn’t long before you were discharged from the hospital. Adrian had spent as much time with you as possible, occasionally stepping out for a short shift at Fennel Fields. The others took turns hanging out with you in the four hours a day he was gone. He had originally planned on taking time off, but you wouldn’t let him. You knew he needed the money and that it wasn’t healthy for him to spend all of his time awake or asleep in a hospital. He rationalized going to work by promising to take off time when you were discharged so he could help you get readjusted. Truth be told the nights he was gone for a couple hours were your favorite. It wasn’t that you didn’t miss him. It was the opposite actually, but despite missing him you were always excited when he brought you food after his shift. Italian food was your favorite and you were sick of hospital food.
On one particular afternoon you were missing Adrian a little more than usual.
“I know that look.” Adebayo laughed.
“What look?!” You asked.
“You miss Adrian.” She gives an exaggerated sigh.
“Do not!” You protest, but the deep red coming to your cheeks tells a different story. The tv was on and you had been channel surfing until you came upon a channel playing Fargo reruns. It was very obvious who you were thinking of.
“He’s a little interesting…but sweet.” She smiled. “I can understand why you like him.” She says after a short pause.
“I never said-“
“I could just tell. Harcourt and I have been talking about it over the past few days. We think he likes you too.” She cuts you off. You decide to sit silently on that information. Your mind drifts back to your first night in the hospital when you could have sworn you heard Adrian say he loved you. You were on some heavy pain meds and you were falling asleep, so you had forgotten about it until now and you weren’t sure it even happened. That’s going to be the only thing in your head for a while.
Not too long after that you hear a knock at the door. You look up to see Adrian half dressed in his uniform. His apron and hat are missing, but he’s still in his red shirt and black pants. He has a brown paper bag in his hand and the smell of Italian food is radiating from the hallway. Your face immediately lights up.
“I brought your favorite.” He smiles.
“And mozzarella sticks?” Adebayo asks.
“And mozzarella sticks.” He confirms. Leota pumps her fists in the air with excitement and you laugh.
“I missed the beginning of Fargo?” Adrian whines turning his head to the tv.
“Sit down. I’ll restart it. The hospital has direct tv.” You say, patting the bed. He settled into the bed next to you. With Adebayo in the chair, he really had no other place to sit, but neither of you minded. You had become like puzzle pieces that fit perfectly together since the night you arrived at the hospital. While Adrian’s eyes were glued to the tv, you couldn’t help, but notice Ad’s giving you a mischievous look.
In the next few days you were discharged. Adrian had the day off from Fennel Fields and Harcourt excused him from the team meeting, so he could help you. He would be helping you a lot after your discharge. You were currently sat in the passenger seat of his Sebring. Your arm was in a sling, but aside from that you were feeling a little bit of normalcy for the first time in forever with your window down and Adrian’s music coming from the speakers. The two of you were quietly singing along to the music as he drove along the familiar streets of your neighborhood. By the time he had gotten to your block you were done singing. You stared down the street at your apartment. You hadn’t noticed Adrian had stopped singing either until he grabbed your hand. You lightly jumped, a little startled by the sensation, but eased into the feeling of his warm hands.
“You’re shaking. Are you okay?” He asks hesitantly, pulling over in front of your building. You take a deep breath and give him a slow nod. He gives you a small smile, putting the car in park. “Look, I know I’m not always the best at knowing what people are thinking, but if any of this is too much for you, just let me know.” He says, trying to make eye contact with you. You can’t peel your eyes away from the place in front of your apartment where you were shot. The blood is gone. If you didn’t know better, if you were just passing by on the street, you would assume nothing had ever happened. You slowly nod again. “We can just sit here for a minute if that’s what you need?” Adrian asks hesitantly.
“I want to go inside.” You say quietly.
“Are you sure?” He asks.
“I want to go inside, but I can’t walk up the steps by myself.” You admit shyly.
“You don’t have to. I’m going to be with you every step of the way.” He assures you. He slowly gets out of the car and walks to the passenger door. He opens it for you and undoes your seatbelt. He then holds out his hand for you to take. “Whenever you’re ready.” He says, patiently. Every part of your body feels hyper sensitive, like all of your senses are on fire. You can feel the muscles flex in Adrian’s arm as he pulls you up. You can hear the blood rushing in your ears. Your legs feel wobbly as your feet slap against the hard concrete. As you approach the steps to your building you grip Adrian tighter. He pulls you protectively into his side. You think you can faintly hear him talking, but you can’t process what he’s saying. You are however aware of the sounds of the key scraping inside the lock as Adrian lets you into your apartment on the second floor. After Jack had stolen your keys, Harcourt and Economos had come by the replace the locks. You take one more step and you’re in your apartment. Once you’re inside you look at the posters of your favorite shows and movies and try to forget that Jack had even set foot in the space. This was your safe place and you would make it that way again. Harcourt had offered to get you a place in the building where she was living, but you refused. You didn’t want this asshole to take your home away from you. You would make it yours again.
As soon as you walked into your bedroom and carefully flopped onto your bed, you felt a rush of comfort splash over you; like waves rolling over your body at the beach on a hot summer day. Staring at the familiar ceiling brought you peace. You traced the stars and planets on your ceiling with your eyes. You hadn’t put them there and they had long since been painted over by someone, most likely your landlord, but they were your favorite part of your apartment. The plastic glow in the dark stars and planets covered by white paint had probably been there long before you moved in and they would be there long after.
It was nice to be in clothes you felt comfortable in again. The hospital gown was getting old and the feeling of your couch underneath your body felt so familiar and comforting. You were currently watching Little Shop of Horrors with Adrian and your apartment smelt of slightly burnt popcorn and butter because Adrian was trying to make sure every kernel popped and in the process burnt some of the earlier pieces to pop out of the batch. You were currently waiting for Chris to show up with the beer he promised to bring.
“I don’t understand how he fucked up this badly. He could have easily gotten away with that murder. He’s such a bad lier.” Adrian sighs.
“No offense, but you are like the worst lier I’ve ever met.” You laugh.
“I am not!” He argues.
“No, you are. I don’t know how you haven’t been caught yet.” You continue to laugh.
“I haven’t been caught because I’m the second best superhero in town!” He declares.
“Honey, you’re one of only two suited superheroes in town.” You blush, realizing you just called him honey.
“That we know of.” He says, lips tight in a pout, desperately reaching to win this argument. You open your mouth to respond when suddenly the power goes out. You feel yourself stop breathing. Adrian stands up and gets off the couch. You reach out in the darkness desperately trying to grab for him. He must barely see you because he leans into your grasp. He crouches down to your level, placing your hand on his face.
“I’m here. I’m just going to look outside. Just stay here, okay?” He says. You let out a soft whimper, unable to form words. “I’m not even going to leave the room. I’m just going to look out the window.” Adrian releases your hand, standing up again, walking towards the living room window that faces the front of your building. You find a little peace when his body is illuminated by the moonlight. You try to hold back tears and breathe evenly. Adrian quickly moves towards you as your eyes try to adjust to the darkness. He’s taking something out of the waste band of his jeans. He brings you to the corner of the room. You hear a click and you want to immediately retreat, but there’s nowhere to go. You start to hyperventilate.
“I need you to stay in the corner and shoot anyone who walks through that door that isn’t me.” Adrian says quickly.
“I-I can’t-“
“Yes, you can. You have to.” Adrian cuts you off.
“I don’t know how to use it.” You’re looking for any excuse to not take the gun.
“The safety is off and there’s plenty of bullets for if you miss the first time. Aim for the head or the-“
“Adrian, I can’t.” It was your turn to cut him off.
“Why not?” He asks. The two of your are speaking a mile a minute.
“I can’t do it. I can’t. I never want to see a gun again. Please don’t make me take that.” You beg him.
“I’m sorry, but you need to take this.” He says. Shoving the weapon in your hands.
“Please don’t leave me.” You beg through sobs that you started, but are unable to stop.
“I have to run downstairs for just a minute. I promise I’ll be right back, but I need you to promise you’ll stay in this corner and you’ll shoot anything that moves.” He pleads with you. You nod through your sobs. “I’ll be right back. I promise.” He says before running out the door.
You stand in the corner for what feels like the longest moment of your life. It feels like an hour although you’re sure it’s only been a few minutes. You hear gunshots outside and your heart stops. After a little while you start to hear footsteps coming up the stairs. You don’t recognize the heaviness of the boot and the foot pattern to be Adrian. You wait to be sure until a silhouette comes into the doorframe and it’s taller and wider than Adrian. With the lights still out, you’re able to attack the intruder before they even recognize you’re in the room. You follow Adrian’s instructions and pull the trigger.
“What the fuck, (Y/N)?! It’s Chris!” The voice yells. You freeze in your tracks. Suddenly the lights come back on and you’re met face to face with Chris who is now holding his arm, bleeding. Luckily you had only grazed him. You hear footsteps running up the stairs.
“I found the breaker!” Adrian calls from down the hall.
“I don’t give a shit about the breaker, they shot me!” Chris continues to yell as Adrian enters the room. You stay frozen, staring down at the gun.
“Sorry. I told them to shoot anyone that wasn’t me.” Adrian says.
“You couldn’t have warned me?!” Chris complains.
“You didn’t ask.” Adrian shrugs, walking over to you slowly. You can see Chris’ look of annoyance, but you don’t truly process it. Adrian takes in your posture and facial expressions, analyzing you, before slowly placing his hand over the barrel of the gun. Your hand is gripping it so tightly that your knuckles have turned white. “I’ve got it. Just let go. That’s it.” Adrian says softly as you slowly release the gun. When it’s out of your hand and Adrian passes it off to Chris, you release a breath you didn’t know you were holding, as you fall forward into Adrian’s arms. You feel your body go limp against his as you start to sob. You drag him to the ground with you. He shushes you, rubbing circles into your back.
“I’m sorry.” You apologize.
“You did nothing wrong. You did exactly what I told you to. I’m so proud of you.” Adrian smiles down at you. You continue to cry into his arms.
“He’s gone. He made a run for it when we started shooting at him. We tried to catch him, but we weren’t fast enough.” Chris tells you. You know this is supposed to be in an effort to make you feel better, but it only makes you feel worse.
You try to keep your body from shaking violently. You wiggle around in Adrian’s arms. He catches on to your attempt to self sooth and he sways with you. You pull your arm that is not in the sling out from under his and start to pound into your head and pull at your hair. You try to hold back screams. He carefully unwinds your fingers from your hair and hugs you tighter to keep you from hurting yourself. You scream into his chest.
“I’m sorry. It’s gonna be okay. You’re safe now. I’m never gonna let him hurt you again. I’m here. I’m here.” Adrian repeats. Chris leaves the room to call Harcourt to give her an update. After a while your sobbing subsides, as you continue to rock back and fourth slowly in Adrian’s arms. “You’re doing so good. I’m so proud of you. You’re so strong.” He continues to compliment and reassure you. He places a kiss on your forehead. The warmth of his lips spreads across your whole body. It helps bring you to a calm enough state to speak.
“I don’t want to be here anymore.” You let out a quiet, weak sentence.
“Do you want to sleep at my place tonight?” He asks. You nod, but make no effort to get up to leave. Adrian slowly helps you stand and he drags you to your room to sit on your bed while he packs a bag for you. You assume you will be gone for more than one night, as he packs you a bag of several days worth of clothes. He wraps your favorite blanket around your body, and slings the bag of clothes over his shoulder. He then picks up your favorite pillow in one hand and wraps an arm around you with his free hand. You hold onto him tight as the three of you make the trip outside to pile into the Sebring. You hold your breath until Adrian locks your seatbelt in place and drives far enough that your apartment is out of view. Chris is still on the phone updating Harcourt. It was late enough. Tonight she would let you rest, but tomorrow she was going to come to Adrian’s to crack down and close this fucking case.
First stop was to drop off Chris. The guys decided that tonight probably wasn’t the best night for beer and movies. After stopping at the trailer you made your way back to Adrian’s place. You stayed silent the entire time and for the first time in his life Adrian didn’t have much to say either.
“I want you to teach me how to shoot.” You say quietly, breaking the silence. Your voice is dead as you stare off through the window.
“What? I thought you were afraid of guns.” Adrian questions.
“I don’t know what I’m not afraid of at this point, but the next time I see that bastard I’m blowing his fucking brains out.” You inform him.
“Wait a second. You used to be so anti-killing. That was supposed to be my job. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m glad you’re finally coming to your senses on the topic of killing bad people and this dude totally needs to be killed, this just isn’t like you.” He rambles.
“I don’t even know who me is anymore. He took that away from me.” You let your voice trail off, as you get choked up again. Adrian looks at you, not quite knowing what to say. The truth is he wishes he could say every nice thought he’s ever had about you, but he doesn’t want to freak you out. He doubts you feel the same about him and after getting shot by your first date since he met you a year ago, he doesn’t really think you’re in the mood. After all Chris had spent the entire past year saying you were so far out of his league that it was funny. You wish you knew all of this. You would have proved Chris wrong.
Adrian walks around to your side of the car, opening the door for you. He lets you into his home. You walk around like a zombie with a blank stare, not particularly looking at anything, just sort of disassociating. He takes your belongings and brings them down the hallway to what you assume is his bedroom.
“What do you want to do now?” Adrian asks. You shrug, avoiding his stare.
“Do you want to shower and change into something more comfortable?” He asks. You think about a shower and it’s honestly the best thing you can imagine right now. You nod, speaking feeling like a chore. He pushes you towards the bathroom and starts the water for you. He places his hand inside until the water is the perfect temperature. He turns to leave the room, but you stop him. You call his name softly. He turns around and hums in response.
“Can you help me?” You ask, pointing to your sling. He gulps and nods. You think you see a blush quickly approaching his cheeks, but you’re too numb to care at the moment. He helps you take off your sling. He then places his hands at the hem of your shirt.
“If you’re uncomfortable, just let me know and I’ll stop and leave the room.” He says. You lock eyes with him, trying to keep tears at bay and nod. You hadn’t felt this safe with a man in so many years, you couldn’t even remember. It was especially jarring after that ‘date’. He slips your shirt off of your body, pausing to take a look at your wound. “I’m going to have to redress your shoulder after you shower.” He tells you. You nod again, too tired for words. He then kneels to take off your shoes and socks. He then slides your jeans down your legs. With any other man this would be awkward. It would feel oddly sexually charged. You wouldn’t feel safe. With Adrian you know he would never do anything to hurt you. You know he’d respect you and your body and never take advantage of you. That’s why you take your next step.
He holds out his hands to help you step with wobbly legs into the shower. When he goes to leave the bathroom, you reach out your hand to tug at his.
“Can you…” You’re just so tired of talking. You try to pull him into the shower with you.
“You want me to join you?” He asks, a nervous edge to his voice. You nod.
“Please. I don’t want to be alone in here with my thoughts.” You tell him, honestly. He gives you a sad smile before stripping down to his boxers and stepping into the shower behind you. Despite being naked in a shower with the man you’ve had a crush on for a year, you feel no need to make a move. You’re exhausted and scared and you just need his comfort right now. You hear a bottle opening and the squeezing of shampoo into Adrian’s hands. He begins to massage the shampoo into your hair. He’s so gentle and the way his finger nails scratch across your scalp feels euphoric. You feel like a rag doll, as Adrian moves your body in every which way to clean it. You don’t feel invaded. You feel quite the opposite, like you’re being well taken care of. His hands are soft and he smells incredible. You smile to yourself thinking you’ll smell like him too after using his soap. He hums to you as he washes you. It’s odd to think someone who kills people at night can be so gentle and loving.
After you shower he cleans and redresses your wound. He does all of this wordlessly. You don’t think you’ve ever heard Adrian so quiet. You hiss at the pain as he touches your wound to clean it.
“Let me know if I’m hurting you.” He instructs you.
“You could never hurt me.” You smile up at him.
“I definitely could.” He says, missing the point. You stare off into space trying to ignore his hands against your shoulder.
“Better?” He asks after your wound is covered again. You look up into his eyes and nod slowly. You get lost in his eyes, staring at each other. His green eyes seem to put you in a trance. Your faces are even, as the counter you’re sitting on makes you taller. Adrian is standing between your parted legs to have better access to your wound. You’re so close you can feel his breath on your skin. You think you might be drifting closer. You want to kiss him so badly. You think you might before Adrian turns his head away at the last second. A blush comes to both your cheeks. “I bet you’re tired. We should get you set up in my room. I’ll take the couch.” He says before exiting the bathroom. You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding before following him.
You take a minute to yourself before walking into his bedroom to see a shirt and a pair of boxers laid out on the bed. He’s already changed, so you assume they’re for you.
“When I packed your bag I forgot to grab something for you to sleep in. Sorry.” He admits. You blush. That wasn’t the truth, but you didn’t need to know that. He hoped you wouldn’t catch onto the fact that he just wanted to see you safe, warm, and comfortable in his clothes.
“That’s okay. I don’t mind wearing your clothes.” You say quietly. The shirt was black, its design faded and the fabric was starting to grow pilly. This was obviously a very well loved shirt. You had seen Adrian wear it from time to time when he wasn’t in the Vigilante suit, which you saw him in the majority of the time. At one point you commented on how much you liked it. You remember him telling you it was one of his favorite shirts. What you didn’t know was that this is his absolute favorite shirt, his comfort shirt, the shirt he practically lives in when it is clean. Despite just seeing you naked, Adrian leaves the room for you to drop your towel and change. When he comes back in, he has a glass of ice water in his hands. You gladly take it. You gulp it down quickly, not realizing how thirsty you were. It’s probably from all of the crying. When you hand him back the glass he asks if you would like another. You politely decline.
“You should get some sleep.” He says, slowly backing out of the doorway.
“Are you sure you want me to sleep in your bed? I don’t want to kick you out.” You ask.
“Pshh of course. It’s nothing.” He says, trying to make light of sleeping on the couch.
“Well, nonetheless it means a lot.” You smile at him. You lay down on the bed before he flicks out the light and goes to shut the door. Your anxiety quickly grows in the dark, unfamiliar room.
“Wait!” You catch his attention. He opens the door and you watch the light cascade in again from the hallway.
“What’s wrong?” Adrian asks.
“Can you uh…” you drift off.
“Do you want me to lay with you again, like I did in the hospital?” He asks. You nod, sheepishly. “Uh- yeah.” Adrian nods, smiling. “I can do that.” He affirms, as he gets under the covers with you. At first Adrian is a little stiff. This is admittedly a weird situation. You’re not filled with all of the adrenaline that you were the first time. It takes a minute before you decide to place your head against his chest. He shifts awkwardly before putting his arm around you and pulling you tightly to his body. After you fall into a rhythm and it’s clear what the other person wants, you feel perfectly pressed together like two puzzle pieces. Adrian starts drawing circles on your arm. Between the steady motion, his heartbeat, and the rising and falling of his chest, you’re soothed to sleep. You feel him press a kiss to your forehead as you drift off.

Get A Room
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Request: “adrian chase and reader fic where she falls asleep on his lap/shoulder after a mission?? and the others are making fun of him and hes shushing and telling them to be quiet as to not wake her up and she just keeps cuddling closer to him? maybe he carries her to bed and she asks him not to go, and they end up cuddling? they get teased(alot) the next day and they eventually confess their feelings?”
Thank you to @acupnoodle for the request!
Warnings: Sexual References
A/N: While the request asked for a fem!reader, I actually tried to avoid using pronouns because I was so in love with this request I wanted it to be as accessible as possible. This ended up leaning more towards gn!reader. Hope you enjoy! ❤️🧜‍♂️❤️
It had been a long day. A very fucking long day, to put it lightly. You were out of town on a mission for Waller with your team and you’d finished the mission successfully, but it was extremely difficult, leaving you all exhausted. It was too late to drive home and after staking out this group before taking them down you were sick of taking shifts, sleeping on the floor of the van or in a sleeping bag outside in the dirt. According to your team leader Emilia, you had earned a nice rest so she booked six bedrooms in an okay, but cheap hotel. This was a treat considering you usually had to share rooms in the shittest motels imaginable and while you didn’t mind sharing a room with Leota, one of your closest friends on the team, you were happy to have your own bed and your own shower. You found yourself drifting in the van on the ride to the hotel. You tried to stay awake, but you were so tired. You were sat next to Adrian, so you tried to avoid slipping into sleep because you didn’t want to fall asleep on him. The truth was you’d always had the biggest crush on him. Once you felt yourself falling over, you tried to wake yourself up again. Through heavy eyes you apologized to Adrian.
“It’s okay. I don’t mind at all. Go ahead.” He encouraged you. While you were embarrassed because of your crush, the thought of sleep and the opportunity to cuddle with Adrian sounded too good to ignore, so you lightly laid your head against his shoulder. You fell asleep quickly. In your sleep, you somehow moved enough to land your head in his lap. He didn’t mind. He rested his fingers in your hair, lightly playing with it, only bringing you deeper.
“If you’re trying to use (Y/N)’s sleeping body to cover up your boner, you can just say so.” Chris laughs.
“Shhhh! What?! Dude, no!” Adrian says in a harsh whisper.
“Just let the lovebirds rest.” Leota smiles.
“We’re not in love and we’re not birds.” Adrian sits up a little straighter, looking down at you. You shift, cuddling closer to him. He quickly stops moving, careful not to wake you.
“Well, at least one of you is.” She lets out a soft laugh.
“No, I’m pretty sure neither of us are birds.” He states. Leota rolls her eyes.
“Guys, Vig is right. We should be quiet. This is probably the only way he can get somebody to sleep with him.” Chris becomes very serious.
“That’s not true and you know it!” Adrian quietly tries to defend himself.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Emilia asks.
“Well Peacemaker met this girl and brought her back to his place and we-“ He starts to explain.
“La la la la la I’m not listening La la la la la” John cuts him off.
“Even though you’re acting like a third grader, I can agree, I don’t need to hear the end of that story.” Emilia says, trying to tune out the rest of the van.
As the trip goes on, you continue to sleep on Adrian. When the van parks, Emilia runs inside to check you in. When she comes back she has six keys in her hand.
“Just give me (Y/N)’s. I’ll come find you to get mine later.” Adrian says, reaching his hand out for the key. She hands him your key and the rest of the team exits the van, making their way to the rooms. Adrian slowly moves out from under you. You whine at the loss of contact.
“What’s going on? Where are we?” You ask, half asleep.
“We’re at the hotel. I’m gonna bring you to your room. Okay?” He asks, softly. You nod, not even bothering to open your eyes. You’re slipping in and out of consciousness. He slings your bag around one arm and his around the other before sliding his arms underneath you and lifting. You jolt awake at the sudden movement until you realize what’s happening.
“It’s okay. I’m just bringing you to your room. You can go back to sleep.” Adrian reminds you. You look at him and he flashes you a smile you. You nod and snuggle deeper into his chest, drifting back to sleep.
Miraculously Adrian is somehow able to juggle both your bags, your body, and unlock the door. Next thing you know you’re being softly placed on the bed. Your shoes are being taken off and covers are being placed over you. You’re still drifting, but you’re awake enough to catch Adrian’s arm as he goes to walk away.
“Stay.” You mumble.
“I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be right next door.” He reminds you.
“No, with me.” You clarify.
“You want me to stay with you?” He asks.
“Please? You’re just so warm. I don’t want you to leave.” That’s just one of many reasons you don’t want him to leave, but that seems to be the least incriminating.
“Okay.” You can hear a smile in his voice as he begins to shed his armor. You eventually feel him climb into bed. You take your last remaining strength to crawl closer to him. You rest your head on his chest to listen to the sound of his heartbeat. You enjoy the feeling of your head moving up and down with his breath. He sleepily wraps his arms around you. It’s nice to feel so safe in a job that is so terrifying. It’s like you’ve found a pocket in time your shitty job can’t ruin. This is your special place with your special person. Even if Adrian didn’t like you, you’d always have this moment. The moment when everything was perfect and time just stood still. You both drift off to sleep as your breath syncs.
You wake up in the morning to Adrian getting out of bed.
“Where are you going?” You whine at the loss of his warmth.
“I’m just going to get some fresh air. We’re not supposed to leave for an hour. You can go back to sleep if you want.” He says, smiling at you. You wanted to protest, but you felt sleep dragging you back down, so instead you just turned onto your other side and closed your eyes again. On his walk Adrian ran into Emilia, Chris, and Leota loading the van.
“Adrian, why didn’t you use your room last night?” Emilia asks.
“What?” He sweats nervously.
“Your room. You never came and got the key from me.” She smirks at him. He stands there in silence for a second, not sure what to say.
“Oh, you totally fucked (Y/N)!” Chris laughs.
“No, I didn’t!” Adrian protests.
“Then where were you last night?” Emilia questions.
“I crashed in (Y/N)’s room, but all we did was sleep. I swear!” Adrian says, embarrassed.
“You totally have feelings for (Y/N)!” Leota exclaims.
“I have to go grab my bag…” Adrian’s voice drifts off, face red. When he walks back into your room, you know somethings up.
“What’s wrong?” You ask him.
“They think I have feelings for you.” Adrian says with a tone of annoyance.
“Why is them thinking you like me a problem? Am I really that unlikeable.” You ask, growing upset. This was beginning to feel like some real middle school shit where one kid was always asked on fake dates and other kids would taunt each other by making up fake crushes on them. You exit the room, into the hallway. You don’t want him to see you upset.
“No, it’s not that! I just- I don’t want to weird you out.” Adrian follows you. He runs a hand nervously across the back of his neck.
“I wouldn’t think it was weird.” You say, softly.
“You wouldn’t?” He questions.
“No…I’d actually kinda like it if you liked me…” You say quietly, almost hoping he doesn’t hear.
“You would?” He looks for confirmation.
“Yeah.” You confess, blush approaching on your face.
“Well then that’s great because I do.” He says, blush creeping up on his own cheeks.
“You do?” You can barley believe what he just said.
“Yeah.” He smiles. You stand in silence for a moment.
“Oh! Um…I suppose I should say I like you too.” You smile back at him. You lean up, giving a peck to his lips. Stiff at first, he eventually reciprocates the kiss. You both smile into it before separating, leaning your foreheads against each other. He goes in for another kiss before you’re interrupted by Leota.
“I called it!” She yells.
“Jesus! Get a room.” John speaks out from the down the hall.

Rock Paper Scissors
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Request: “I was wondering if you could write an Adrian x Reader with the only one bed trope?”
Thank you @r3tr0sp3ct for the request.
Warnings: None that I know of. (If you see something please let me know!)
A/N: I was so excited about this request when I got it. I love writing for Adrian! If you wanna see something for our boy (as long as it’s not smut) send it my way and if I feel comfortable writing it I’ll eventually get to it!! Hope you guys enjoy! :)
You hopped from the van, slinging your duffel bag over your shoulder as you watched Emilia walk into the shitty motel to reserve some rooms for the night. You were out of town on an overnight mission. After working all day you were so tired and you just wanted to get to sleep before you had to get back to the mission tomorrow. The motel was very booked and Waller had given Emilia a limited budget so she made do with what she could. She was able to get three rooms.
“We’re going to have to share rooms.” She announced. There was a collective groan from the whole team.
“I personally think it’s a good idea to keep Chris and Adrian apart so they won’t stay up all night or kill each other.” Leota whispered to Emilia loud enough that you could hear.
“Or both.” Emilia joked back. She put her fist out and you knew what she was hinting at. While the boys were distracted the three of you played Rock Paper Scissors to decide who would room with who.
“Loser has to take Adrian.” She announced. You were hoping he wouldn’t overhear. You weren’t sure if you wanted to win or lose. On one hand you sort of had a crush on Adrian and you wanted to spend more time alone with him, but on the other hand you sort of had a crush on Adrian and you were TERRIFIED to spend more time alone with him.
You closed your eyes and reluctantly threw your hand into the circle. You were so nervous you barley remember what you picked. Was it rock? It would have been funny if it was because that’s what you wanted to beat yourself in the head with when you found out you had lost. The two girls laugh at you as your face goes red. You slowly take a key from Harcourt and walk over to Adrian.
“Come on, we’re roomies.” You exchange tired smiles before you head up the stairs to your room. Usually Adrian is much more talkative, but you assume he’s just tired. You approach the door and unlock it to a sight you’re not happy with. Emilia failed to mention there would only be one bed. It was large, probably a king, but the thought of sleeping with the idiot you had a crush on was nerve racking. Your cheeks flush a bright red.
“I’ll uh… I’ll sleep on the floor.” You say quietly.
“What? Why?” He asks. He looks at you genuinely confused. You stare at him unable to give an answer. He flops onto the bed.
“This bed is like huge. We can totally share it.” He says, patting the other side of the bed. You slowly make your way over the other side of the bed and sit down. If he couldn’t see how weird this was you just had to go along with it. If you didn’t you would seem like the weird one. Were you the weird one? Was sharing a bed only weird because you had a crush on him? Would it be different with someone else like John or Emilia?
You were pulled away from your thoughts when the bed shifted. You looked up to see Adrian taking off his suit. The armor came off and he was just in a skin tight black shirt and his pants. Then suddenly the shirt was gone too. You studied the muscles in his back before he slipped a t-shirt on from his bag. You suddenly become very embarrassed and decided you were lucky he was facing the other way or else he would see how red your face was becoming again.
“I’m going to get changed.” You said, exiting to the bathroom before letting him get a word in. When you got back he was sitting on the edge of the bed, clicking through the channels on the tv.
“You’re putting on the tv? It’s like 2am. Aren’t you tired from the mission?” You ask. He shrugs.
“I missed Fargo tonight. I wanna see if they’re replaying it. Sometimes they do that late at night.” He says before he lands on the channel he’s looking for.
“You’re such a nerd.” You smile before crashing back onto the bed.
“Tucked or untucked?” He asks.
“What?” You question him.
“Your feet. Tucked or untucked?” He clarifies.
“I don’t really care. I’ll just do whatever you want.” You lie. You do have a bit of a preference, but you just want to be easy going and get to sleep before anything awkward happens. You pull the covers over you and watch tv for a little bit before closing your eyes. Adrian gives commentary during the episode about the actors and his opinions on the episode. The sound of the tv dulls your nerves enough to drift off to sleep.
At around 4am your eyes shoot open and your body tenses as you try to remember where you are. You had just woken up from a nightmare in an unfamiliar bed. You try to stifle a cry when you remember Adrian is sleeping next to you. You don’t want to wake him up. Your heavy breathing probably isn’t helping either. You need to calm down and get some sleep. You have to be up early in the morning for the mission and if you don’t sleep you’ll let yourself and your whole team down. You try to take deep breaths and slow your breathing before doing the one thing you can think of to help yourself. You scoot closer to Adrian. As embarrassing as it is, you need him right now. Trying not to wake him up, you scoot as close to him as possible, not quite touching, but you can still feel the heat radiating off of his body. His warmth provides you a little bit of comfort, but suddenly he starts moving. He flips over in the bed to face you, tired eyes squinted, trying to open.
“Hey, what’s going on?” He asks. His voice comes out rough. You’re so glad it’s dark in the room or he would see the obvious blush on your cheeks.
“I’m sorry. I just- I had a nightmare. I didn’t mean to wake you.” You tell him honestly. You can’t make any bullshit excuses right now. You’re hoping in his half asleep state, he’ll just drift away. You didn’t think it was possible, but you start to blush even harder when you feel two strong arms wrap around you and bring you into his chest.
“It’s okay. You’re safe. I’ll protect you.” He slurs, obviously about to fall back asleep at any moment. That’s all you needed to hear. Your body relaxes into his and you’re able to fully regulate your breathing by following his. You’re able to drift off to sleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
The next day you wake up, your limbs tangled with his. You feel him start to stretch underneath you and you know he’s waking up.
“Good morning.” He flashes you his signature Adrian Chase smile. It’s infectious. You can’t help, but smile back.
“Good morning.” You repeat back you him.
“You’re like really pretty in the morning.” He says, unfiltered and you’re blushing again. You look away from him. Then you hear pounding on the door.
“Be in the van in 15 minutes.” Emilia’s voice comes from behind the door. You get up, get ready for the day, and walk outside to meet up with the rest of the team. When you get outside, you approach Emilia.
“Thanks for making sure Adrian and I got the single bed.” You say. She smirks at you.
“How did you know they weren’t all single beds?” She asks.
“Do you really think Chris and John shared a bed last night?” You joke.
“I was hoping you’d lose Rock Paper Scissors.” She laughs.
“Honestly…so was I.” You confess before loading into the van and taking your seat next to Adrian.

Green Eyes
Adrian Chase/ Vigilante x Reader
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
(H/N)=Hero Name
Prompt: After knowing your best friend for the past six years you finally find out his name and what he looks like when you join a task force made to save the human race from aliens.
Warnings: Cannon typical violence, episode 4 spoilers
A/N: I think this is the longest Adrian fic I’ve ever written. Enjoy! ❤️🧜‍♂️❤️
You had known him for years, but you were never able to put a name to the face. Hell, you didn’t even have a face to put to the body. You had know idea who he was, but somehow simultaneously you knew exactly who he was. He was your best friend after all and you knew everything about him, except for his identity. He knew what you looked like, but you kept your name a secret. To him you were just (H/N). To you he was just ‘Vigilante’. At the beginning of your friendship you tried to get him to tell you who he was, but after six years of friendship you knew better than to pry. You understood he was just trying to protect you, but you could handle yourself. You were a hero just like him.
The time when Peacemaker was away felt like the longest period of your life and yet felt like no time at all. You missed your friend, but in all honesty you enjoyed the quieter moments with Vigilante. You preferred when he wasn’t around Chris. When he wasn’t trying to impress his favorite person. When he was just himself. You felt guilty for thinking such things, but there were nights when it would just be you and Vigilante and the entire world would disappear. There would be nights where you laid on the couch, drunk out of your mind, when you would slip your head into Vigilante’s lap. The first time it happened he completely froze. He didn’t know what to do and it was almost like he just stopped breathing, like he had shut down, turned off. After the first time he got more comfortable. He would look down at you and play with your hair. You would sit there and talk about anything and everything, but if you were drunk enough you would try to get information out of him.
“Please tell me something, anything, about what you look like.” You’d beg.
“You know I can’t do that, (H/N). It’s not safe.” He’d remind you. You’d place your hand at the base of his mask and just rest it there. The first time you did this he flinched away, but he was used to this by now too.
“What’s under there?” You’d ask. Sometimes he’d make a joke and other times he’d stay silent.
“I bet you have no hair and a face tattoo.” You’d always come up with something you thought would be completely untrue. He’d laugh at you.
“I bet you have blonde hair.” You’d then come up with something less outrageous in hopes that he’d agree.
“I could tell you what I look like and you’d have no idea if I was lying or not.” He’d remind you.
“I know, but I trust you Vig.” You’d say. This would usually end in him changing the subject. One night he broke the pattern.
“Green.” He said quietly.
“What?” You asked, your heart suddenly pounding out of your chest.
“My eyes are green.” He told you.
From that night on you’d held onto that statement. You’d often dream about his green eyes. You would try to steal glances behind his visor, but the tint stopped you from seeing the color. He’d often catch you staring and you’d quickly turn away, cheeks flushed.
It wasn’t until Peacemaker returned that things started to get crazy. Rather than spending last night patrolling, you and Vigilante followed Chris on a mission with his team. After getting sucked into the mission, Vigilante and Peacemaker were taken hostage. By the time you were able to get to them, Vigilante was limping. He had been tortured. The minutes where you heard his screaming, but couldn’t break through the door to get to him were some of the longest minutes of your life. You were terrified. You hated to hear him in pain. When you eventually got down to them, Vig was limping and Peacemaker was totally unphased. While Vigilante was tortured, Chris was left untouched. You wanted to slap him, but you knew that wouldn’t help. Instead you just helped Vigilante make his was back to the van. It was strange riding with the new team. It was even stranger when they offered you a job. When you heard they were fighting aliens hell bent on destroying humanity and taking over the world you were all in, so was Vigilante. This was the sort of higher purpose you’d always wanted. You weren’t just helping one town. You were helping the entire world.
The past couple days had been pretty wild, so you had gone home to shower and get a change of clothes. You were now rushing back to headquarters because you had gotten a call that Judomaster had escaped. When you got there at the same time as Harcourt, Judomaster had already been recaptured. You walked in to find Adebayo and Economos sitting with his unconscious body. He had been shot. You knew what that meant. Adebayo had taken her first shot. She looked pretty shaken up. You let Harcourt do most of the talking, as Adebayo tried to say she wasn’t cut out for the job.
“None of this sits right with me. First I manipulated Vigilante into going into prison and killing Peacmaker’s father and now this-” You cut her off.
“You did what?!” You jump out of your chair. The thought of Vig killing Peacemaker’s piece of shit father didn’t phase you, but you were worried about him. Would the police arrest the Vigilante and put him in prison for the rest of his life or would they arrest the man underneath the suit with no connection? You knew Chris had a thirty year sentence. Chris. What would Chris do if he found out Vig killed his father? He would never forgive him.
Your mind was swimming with thoughts, but most of all you just wanted Vigilante out of the prison and safe. You didn’t know why you were so worried. He could handle himself.
‘He can handle himself.’ You repeat in your head.
“I thought Waller gave me soldiers! Instead it’s the fucking Apple Dumpling Gang!” Murn breaks you from your thoughts. You’re now sat in the main part of the office as he scolds the team for letting this happen. Adebayo tries to defend her choices, but all you can hear are words spilling out of her mouth. None of them have meaning. Suddenly Economos is getting into technicalities on who is actually Chris’ best friend, Vigilante or Egaly and you pound your head into the desk.
“Can we just fucking figure this out?!” You yell. You don’t mean to yell, but you’re just so nervous.
“His father ,the goddamn White Dragon, is a trained killer! He could kill Vigilante and without Vigilante we’re taking on the butterflies one man down!” Murn continues to yell.
“Half a man down. That guy’s a psychopath.” Harcourt interrupts. She doesn’t seem to care if he lives or dies. You boil with anger.
“If he ends up dead or imprisoned for the rest of his life, you’re gonna fucking regret it, Harcourt.” You try to bite back your words, but they spill from your mouth.
“Is that a fucking threat, (H/N)?” She questions. You stand up to approach her before Murn pushes you back down.
“It’s the four of us against a damn alien invasion. We need a psychopath.” He says, connecting eyes with Harcourt.
“I’m sorry Mr. Murn.” Adebayo apologizes.
“Can you get Vigilante out of the system before he screws us more than we’re already screwed?” He asks Economos. He sits down, at his desk with a sigh.
“I don’t even know this guy’s name.” He says. They all turn to you. You shrug.
“You’re like his best friend. You’re literally inseparable and you don’t even know his name?” Harcourt asks.
“I don’t even know what he looks like.” You say quietly.
“White male, 5’11”, thirties, green eyes.” Adebayo starts describing him. You feel your breath catch in your throat. Green eyes.
“Y-you saw him?” You stutter for a second. She nods.
“Hm. I think I’ve got something.” Economos starts.
“Found him.” He says. Your heart pounds in your chest.
“Adrian Chase, the Vigilante.” He continues with confidence.
“That’s him.” Adebayo confirms, obviously looking at a picture. You stand frozen in your tracks. Adrian Chase. Adrian Chase. You can’t help, but repeat his name in your head over and over again.
“Wasn’t he our busboy at Fennel Fields?” Harcourt asks.
“Do you wanna see?” Adebayo motions for you to come closer. She moves so there’s room for you to step in front of the screen. You hesitate. If he wanted you to see what he looked like, he would have showed you. Six years. You’d been friends for six years and you had no idea what he looked like, what Adrian…looked like. Adrian. It was a nice name. Slowly you realized you were walking to the screen. You finally found yourself staring at the screen. Your eyes were met with a picture of a brunette. It was so weird to put a face to the body. You wondered if it was even him, but Adebayo confirmed that it was him. She had seen him.
“I’ll go pick him up. Just text me when you get him out” Harcourt starts for the door.
“No.” You stop her.
“What?” She turns around to question you.
“I’ll do it.” You say quietly. She nods and heads out the door. You stand frozen, staring at the picture. For all you know this could be not only the first, but the last time you see his face. You want to remember this forever.
“I just put in the request. They just have to process him and he’ll be out soon.” Economos speaks up. You don’t respond.
“Are you okay?” Adebayo asks.
“Six years.” You laugh to yourself.
“What?” She asks.
“That’s how long I’ve been friends with Vigil- Adrian. Adrian. That’s how long I’ve been friends with Adrian.” You smile to yourself as you feel his name forming on your lips.
“I’m sorry. I just…” You trail off.
“I better go get him.” You speak again before heading out the door.
Now you were sitting in your car outside the police station. The sky had grown dark. You sat in silence. Normally when you were getting ready to pick up Vigilante you would be blasting a playlist of your guys’ favorite songs, but this is different. Everything is different. You’re nervous, scared even. How will he react? Will he hide? Will he come clean? Will you destroy what you have with him? What do you even have with him? You’re best friends of course, but… You think back to the night he told you he had green eyes, your head in his lap, his hands playing with your hair and you freeze. Did you like Vigilante? You had pondered it before, but brushed off the concept. How could you possibly have feelings for a person with no name and no face? You had known nothing about him, but somehow simultaneously you knew everything about him. Everything that mattered anyway.
You were broken away from your thoughts when you saw him slowly walk out of the police station and approach the familiar looking car with a look of confusion. You rolled down your window.
“I’m here to take you home. Get in.” You smiled at him, hoping to relieve some of the tension. He slowly opened the door and sat in the passenger seat. He sighs.
“He’s still alive... I’m Adrian.” He says softly. The second he speaks you know without a doubt in the world that it’s him. He didn’t look very different from the picture. You could still recognize him, but it was like you were seeing him for the first time. He took your breathe away. It was love at first sight, but was it really? Maybe you had loved him all along and you were just too afraid to admit it to a nameless, faceless figure. You suppose it’s your turn to be honest.
“I’m (Y/N).” You smile at him. He gives you a small smile before his face changes again.
“I think I might have made things worse.” He says, his voice quivering. He’s about to cry. In the six years you’d been friends you’d rarely seen him upset, let alone cry. He breaks eye contact with you.
“And now you’ve seen my face.” He continues as his voice grows much quieter. You see a tear roll down his cheek.
“Hey, it’s okay.” You say, grabbing his hand. Your skin touches his for the first time. It’s soft.
“No, it’s not. I’m going to lose my two best friends.” He argues with you.
“What makes you think that?” You ask.
“Peacemaker is going to hate me and you probably hate me too.” He rambles on. You shush him and place a hand on his chin. You tilt his head for your eyes to meet. You place your hand on his cheek and swipe your thumb against his cheek bone, wiping away some tears.
“Adrian, I could never hate you.” You promise. Hearing you say his name out loud only makes him cry harder. You pull him into your arms.
“I just thought- We’ve been friends for six years. I thought you’d be angry or disappointed when you finally found out who I was.” He confesses. You separate to look him in the eyes.
“It doesn’t matter what you look like or what your name is. I care about the person I’ve grown to know over the past six years.” You tell him. He gives you a small smile.
“(Y/N)?” He questions.
“Yeah. That’s me.” You smile. It’s strange to hear his name on your lips, but secretly it’s what you’ve always wanted. His voice feels like a dream.
“That’s a pretty name.” He compliments you. You feel the heat rush to your cheeks.
“Not as pretty as you are-“ You cut yourself off as your realize what you just said.
“You-You think I’m pretty?” He stutters, his own face growing red. You turn to look at the road.
“I’m gonna start driving now.” You say, your eyes refusing to look at Vig.
Once you pull away from the police station you hand Adrian your phone, tired of sitting in awkward silence.
“My passcode is 1963. Put on some music.” You tell him.
“First a name, now a passcode? We’re moving pretty fast, (Y/N).” He smiles. You can’t help, but giggle. He puts on your playlist and the Spice Girls starts blasting through your speakers. You both sing your separate parts which you’ve practiced very hard over the past six years. You grow a large smile on your face when you hear the line friendship never ends’. You know no matter what you and Vigilante go through, you’ll always have each other.

You Can’t Get Rid Of Me That Easily
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: The rest of the team goes on a mission while you and Economos are stuck at base giving directions through comms. After teasing you for having a crush on Adrian, Economos tries to quiet your worries when Adrian goes missing and the comms go dead.
Warnings: Episode 4 spoilers
A/N: I’m back with another fic about everyone’s favorite dork! I hope you guys enjoy! :) ❤️🧜‍♂️❤️
You sat back at base with Economos giving directions to your fellow teammates over comms. After the first time Judomaster escaped, Murn couldn’t risk losing him again so even though there was a bullet hole in his chest, you and John were forced to babysit, working this mission remote from the base. With Murn in the van, the rest of the team was trying to chase down a group of butterflies in very high positions of power.
“Turn left and there should be a tunnel in front of you. That should lead to the sewers where you can find the lair.” You tell your team.
“Don’t say lair. You make it sound like a cheesy comic book.” Economos says. You give him a strange look.
“I’m currently giving instructions to a black ops team being lead through the sewers by two -dressed in full costumes- superheroes” You remind him.
“Our life is a cheesy comic book.” You add.
“Hey!” You hear Vigilante say over the comms.
“This isn’t a costume, (L/N). This is a uniform. Respect the fucking uniform.” Peacemaker chimes in. You face palm realizing you weren’t muted when you said that.
“I never said I didn’t like them!” You say in defense.
“I really like one of them.” You mumble to yourself daydreaming.
“What did you just say?” Harcourt asked.
“Nothing!” You say realizing what you had just said out loud.
“They said they liked my uniform.” Peacemaker says with confidence.
“No, they said they liked one of our uniforms. How do you know it’s you?” Vigilante starts. The two begin to fight over you and you blush. Some time passes before you hear some bad news.
“(Y/N), the path splits in two directions. We’re splitting up.” Harcourt says.
“Okay, just please be careful. Adebayo you’re with Peacemaker. Harcourt you’re with Vig. We don’t have a full map of this place so just try to give updates when you can.” You command. Economos mutes your mic.
“Vig?” He asks.
“Yeah, it’s short for Vigilante. It’s like a nickname.” You say nonchalantly.
“I didn’t realize you guys were that close” He said as your face began to flush again.
“Yeah we’re pretty close.” You tell him.
“Ew!” He says in a mocking tone.
“What?!” You ask him.
“You have a crush on that little freak, don’t you?” He asks. Your face goes completely red. You pause looking for the words to get you out of this.
“You do, don’t you?” He asks again.
“Yes…but theres no way he could like me. Plus we’re both so busy with work- I mean between this and the restaurant he’s basically working two jobs. He doesn’t have time for a girlfriend and if he did why would it be me?” You could go on and on giving excuse after excuse, but after a while your voice just fades away.
“As gross as this young nerd love thing is, you should talk to him about it. Maybe he’ll surprise you.” He offers the advice. You nod.
“Maybe.” You say quietly.
“Motherfuck-“ You hear Adrian’s voice on the comms followed by the sound of a body hitting the ground and your heart skips a beat. You rush to unmute yourself.
“Vig?! Vigilante?! Harcourt?! Anybody?!” You say into the mic, panicked.
“Peacemaker and I are fine, but we don’t know what happened to Harcourt and Vigilante. We’re turning around to go find them. ” Adebayo says.
“Thanks, Leota.” You say as you bounce your leg up and down.
“They’ll find them.” John says, sitting down next to you. After what feels like forever we hear voices again.
“We found Harcourt out cold, but no Vigilante.” Leota informs you. You gasp, quickly bringing your hand your mouth.
“We’re going further into the tunnels” Peacemaker informs you. Economos takes the lead.
“Thanks guys” He says into the mic.
“We’re going to-“ The line goes dead. The screen says there’s no signal. We’ve lost them.
“John…” You say quietly.
“I’m sure they’re just too far underground for the comms to work. It’ll be fine.” He tells you.
“I should have been there” You start.
“Doing what? Sitting in the van just as worried? They’ll bring him back. They’ll all come back.” He promises.
Minutes seem like hours. Hours seem like days. You sit there and pick at your nails until you hear a door open. First comes in Chris, then Adebayo, Murn, Harcourt, and finally Adrian.
“Adrian?” You let go of the breath you didn’t know you were holding and run to him. He holds out his arms to wrap around you. He pulls away from you slightly at first contact.
“Ow” He says and you pull away, still holding onto his arms.
“I’m sorry. Did I hurt you?” You ask, alarmed.
“I think I broke some ribs” He tells you before slowly bringing you back into his embrace. You lean your head against his chest and listen to his heartbeat. You just need to feel close to him after thinking you might never see him again. You let out tears you didn’t know you were holding. They fall softly and effortlessly down your cheeks.
“I thought you were dead.” You say softly. It’s so quiet you aren’t even sure if you said it. You don’t want to even voice such a thing.
“I’m right here. You can’t get rid of me that easily.” He promises you.
Later that evening you drive Adrian back to his apartment. Once you get there and park, you stare blankly into the night sky. You think about what Economos said.
“Hey, Adrian?” He looks at you and hums in response.
“I was really scared you weren’t coming home today” You start off.
“I had to come back. Fargo’s on tonight” He jokes.
“No, really. I was terrified and it made me realize I never want to lose you.” You say. He looks at you confused.
“You’re not going to lose me” He says.
“I’ll always be your friend” He adds.
“Adrian, I don’t want to be friends.” You tell him.
“Oh.” He says sadly.
“No, you don’t get it. I wanna be more than friends.” You say connecting eyes. You sit there in silence while you both process what you just said until he leans forward to kiss you. At first attempt your foreheads clank together. You separate bringing your hand to your head.
“I’m sorry.” He apologizes.
“You have nothing to apologize for. You’re perfect.” You tell him. Your lips finally connect and he takes your breath away. When you separate you place a hand on his cheek, rubbing it in a short line with your thumb. He places his hand over yours. Smiles grow on your faces. You feel safe and grounded for the first time since starting this job. He’s safe. He’s home. But more importantly, he’s your home.

Safe In His Arms
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: When you get captured and tortured you’re saved by your teammates, but is it too late? Harcourt demands you be rushed to the hospital as you bleed out in Adrian’s arms. Can they save you in time?
Warnings: Blood, Knives, Someone cutting into your skin, Violence, Kidnapping
A/N: This is mostly Adrian x Reader, but also platonic!Harcourt x Reader. Hope you guys enjoy!
You could feel blood dripping down your abdomen. You weren’t sure how you got into this position, but you were here. Alone. In the cold. In the damp. In the dark. Bleeding out. Your torturer had taken you into his gross basement to have some fun. While you were stretched out on a cold metal table you felt a knife carving pictures on the exposed skin of your stomach. You winced at the feeling.
“For the last time. Just tell me what I want to know and I’ll let you go.” He reminded you.
“I said I don’t know anyTHING” You scream as he digs a little too deep. You close your eyes tightly. Despite being on a black ops team you truly didn’t know what man was asking you about. You were often kept on the dark when it came to these matters. Despite his promises to let you go you knew he was lying. The second you said anything useful he would kill you.
“Hey, look at me when I’m talking to you!” Your capturer proceeded to dig deeper and your eyes shot open. You looked behind him to see a sight for sore eyes in the doorway. Vigilante held a finger up to where you assume his mouth was, telling you to keep his presence a secret. You took a deep breath. You muster up just enough confidence and energy to give him the break he needs to get inside.
“I told you I didn’t know anything, but even if I did why the fuck would I tell you?” You say making eye contact and spitting in your torturer’s face.
“You’re gonna regret that. You’re about to wish you were dead.” He says softly, but with a lot of anger, turning towards the table to pick up a different instrument. You would truly believe his words if it weren’t for your favorite superhero and best friend standing by in close proximity. While picking out a new tool, Vig sneaks up behind the man and beats the shit out of him. After he’s already down and unconscious he continues to pound into his face. You’d hate to be on the receiving end of this anger. After he was pleased by how much blood he had drawn from the man he stood up to release you. Your body tenses as he nears.
“It’s okay. I’m gonna get you out of here.” He promises. He places a hand on your face and wipes away some of the tears before uncuffing you. You try to move, but feel sharp pain all over your stomach where the man was carving. You sit up, only to feel extreme dizziness. Harcourt rushes in.
“I don’t know what to do.” He admits shakily.
“We have to stop the bleeding!” Harcourt reminds him in a hurry. She pushes him out of the way with a large blank that must have been from upstairs. She wraps it tightly around your stomach.
“You’re going to have you carry them out” She tells him and he nods slipping one arm under your knees and one arm under your back.
“This might hurt.” Harcourt braces you for the pain. You nod.
“One, two, three.” Adrian says before lifting you into his arms. You wince grabbing hold of his shoulder and gripping tightly. You place your other had on his chest and curl into him.
You watch Harcourt scout slightly ahead gun drawn in case we run into anyone else, despite you assuming the guy back there is probably dead right now. When you get to the van everyone is inside ready to speed off. As soon as you’re in the van Adrian takes off his mask and you look into his eyes. Your hand moves from his shoulder to his hair. You briefly touch his face before gripping his shoulder again when you hit a pot hole.
“We have to get to a hospital. Now.” Harcourt says with urgency.
“No, hospital!” You manage to get out despite you’re quickly losing consciousness. You knew you wouldn’t be able to explain your injuries.
“(Y/N) is bleeding out. They need fresh blood, which we don’t have. We’re going to the nearest hospital now or we’re losing them.” She said as you feared for the worst.
“I’m so tired.” You whispered to Adrian.
“Adrian, you need to keep them awake!” Harcourt continued to command the room. He proceeded to fill the van with the terrible jokes in an effort to keep you awake. The rest of the van just stayed quiet and watched in anticipation. After the third joke you let your eyes close. He laid a hand on your face.
“(Y/N), please look at me.” He pleads. You look into his eyes and everything else fades. It’s just you two. You’re the only people in the world. You reach a hand up to his face in mirror. You just stare at each other until the van comes to an abrupt stop. You’re ripped from Adrian’s arms and placed on a gurney with doctors and nurses running you to a room.
“Adrian…” You whine as you fall unconscious.
When you wake up you look to your side to see an iv drip connected to your arm. You turn to your other side to see a chair pulled up next to your bed. Adrian is asleep in his street clothes. He must have been waiting for you to wake up. You smile. Despite the pain to move, you reached towards him and grabbed his hand.
“(Y/N)?” He questions in a soft voice as he begins to wake up. He looks at you with a soft sleepy smile.
“I’m glad you’re awake.” He starts.
“Well, I wouldn’t be without you.” You remind him.
“Thank you. You saved my life. I hung on because of you.” You both smile at each other. You sit there for a while before you realize you’re shivering.
“Is it cold in here?” You ask.
“You’re probably cold from all the blood you lost, but yeah it is a bit chilly in here.” He says thinking about the cause. You build up the energy to move to the other side of the bed. You pat the side closest to Adrian in an effort to get him to climb inside.
“Just until I warm up?” You plead. He smiles and climbs into bed with you. He pulls the blanket up over you and you snuggle up to him. He wraps his arms around you and you feel safe.
“Can you talk to me?” You ask.
“About what?” He asks.
“I don’t care. I just like the sound of your voice.” You confess. His cheeks are dusted with a soft pink. He smiles.
“Tell me a story?” You plead. He pauses to think.
“Okay so there was this one time where Peacemaker and I…” He started. You let him drone on and on. You didn’t care what he was talking about you just wanted to hear his voice, the voice that kept you alive, the voice that makes you feel safe. You were so tired you couldn’t remember the story if you tried, but you will always remember the soothing feeling of being in Adrian Chase’s arms.

Need Some Help?
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x AFAB!Reader
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: Adrian comes to your apartment to check on you when your team hasn’t seen you in a while. After seeing you’re struggling with doing your daily tasks because your mental health isn’t very good right now, he offers to help you get back on your feet.
Warnings: Depression, anxiety, eating disorder, eating, sex toys (but not in a sexy way)
A/N: Hey guys this is a little bit of a heavier topic so I just wanted to say getting help is easier than you think (if you need it) and if you need to imagine your favorite fictional characters to get your tasks done, that’s okay!! I wanted to make the fic lighter in hopes of giving those struggling a break. I’ve been there, so I totally get you guys. I’ve been trying to make my fics more gender neutral, but this one is AFAB. This fic was inspired by the scene from episode 2 in Peacemaker’s home, so minor spoilers? I hope you guys enjoy! :) 🧜‍♂️
It was 2pm and you were still laying in bed. It just didn’t seem worth it to get up. Lately you’d had a really hard time doing just about anything. You hadn’t showered in days, nor had you changed your clothes. You only showered when you left your apartment to keep up appearances. It was just one of those times. Sometimes you had ups and sometimes you had downs, but this down had been going on for a while.
Suddenly your thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of tapping on your window.
“Why don’t you just use the door like a normal person?” You ask your friend Vigilante as you lift up the window next to your bed just enough for him to open it and climb in.
“And risk your landlord seeing me? No way.” He says very seriously.
“And him seeing a strange masked man climbing through my bedroom window is any better?” You ask him.
“Why are you in your suit anyway?” You continue to question.
“I just got back from patrol” He tells you, taking off his mask and putting on his glasses. You had known his secret identity ever since he joined the black ops team you were a part of. Despite his efforts to keep it a secret, we all knew by his second mission. He sat down next to you on your bed and you slowly sat up, shaking. You weren’t sure if it was from the anxiety or the fact that you hadn’t eaten yet today. You hadn’t been eating much lately, not because you didn’t want to, but because you felt nauseous every time you ate.
“Are you okay?” He asks.
“They sent me to check on you… well not exactly. They said ‘Somebody should go check on (Y/N).’ and I said I’d do it and Harcourt said ‘please for the love of God anybody else!’ and nobody else came so I just decided to come on my own.” He informs you.
“Not that they didn’t want to! I’m sure they were just busy. I’m sure they care about you. I care about you a lot so…” He trailed off, his face starting to get flushed.
“I appreciate it, but maybe you should go. I feel a little sick” You inform him.
“Hey, you’re shaking” He says putting an arm on your shoulder to steady you. You feel faint and a little nauseous.
“When was the last time you ate?” He asks, looking into your eyes.
“Some time yesterday” You tell him as you lean against the headboard.
“Hold on.” He says as he gets up and heads to your kitchen. He looks around the cupboards and fridge before he settles on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a big cup of ice water. You assume he probably doesn’t know how to cook very well, but it’s a very sweet gesture.
“Thanks” You smile at him as he passes you the plate. The less hungry you became, the less foggy your brain was, and the more aware you became. You looked around your room and noticed how much of a mess the place was.
“I’m sorry. It’s not usually like this. I’ve just been having trouble getting things done lately” You tell him.
“Yeah I wasn’t gonna say anything, but your place is a dump!” He laughs. You put your face in your hands and rub your eyes.
“A lovely dump, though!” He adds trying to save himself. You offer a small laugh.
“It’s okay, Vig you don’t have to lie. I’ve been wanting to clean. I just can’t find it in me to actually do it.” You tell him.
“Need some help cleaning up?” He offers.
“You don’t have to…” You say beginning to feel bad.
“No, I want to.” He says. He offers a smile and you nod. He immediately stands up and starts bringing dirty cups and dishes to the sink. First he takes the trash out and then he gets to work on the rest of the apartment while you eat your sandwich.
“Where does this go?” He asks picking up a book.
“Over there on the shelf please.” You say pointing to the self you want it on.
He proceeds to ask where some things go and he figures out the rest. You lay down and close your eyes for a moment until you hear a buzzing sound and some laughing. Your eyes immediately shoot open.
“Woah! Where does this go?!” He asks, amused.
“Adrain Chase please put my vibrator down!” You plead. He puts it down on the table as it keeps buzzing and moving about the table. He continues to laugh.
“It’s like it’s dancing!” He announces. You think if your face could catch on fire it would have by now. You are just SO embarrassed. You jump out of bed, picking up the vibrator, turning it off, and throwing it in the drawer of your nightstand.
“I hate you!” You tell him, storming back to your bed.
“No, you don’t. You can’t hate your best friend.” He argues with you.
“You’re not my best friend.” You try to hold back a smile.
“Then who is it? It’s Leota or Harcourt isn’t it?” He asks. You just laugh.
“I’m just messing with you. You’re my best friend.” He lets out a sigh of relief.
“Thank God! You’re my best friend too.” He says landing down on the bed next to you. The bed dips and you lean into him, putting your head on his shoulder.
“Thanks for helping me today. I really needed it. I really needed you.” You confess.
“Anytime.” He promises. Adrian always knew how to make things better.

Please Don’t Be Dead
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
Tumblr media
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Part 2
Prompt: This fic follows along with Episode 7: “Stop Dragon My Heart Around”. The reader is Adrian’s significant other and they’re very worried about him. DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN EPISODE 7!!!
Warnings: Violence
A/N: I loved episode 7 so much, but I am so worried for Adrian. If you guys get my quotes from The Crew, I love you. Enjoy! ❤️🧜‍♂️❤️
“VIGILANTE” You screamed as Economos tried to hold back both you and Peacemaker. There was a ringing in your ears from the grenade. You felt two strong arms wrap around as you tried to take off in your boyfriend’s direction. He had just dropped a grenade between himself and the White Dragon. Chris dragged you back into the woods kicking and screaming. He had to put a hand over your mouth to quiet you so you could make a clean getaway. He must have felt the tears streaming down your cheeks, hitting his hand because he whispered,
“I’m sorry” in your ear. Nice things out of Chris’ mouth were rare so this only fueled your pain more. Once far enough away he pulled you down to hide behind a tree with him and Economos.
“You have to let me go back.” You pleaded as your lip quivered and you could barley choke out the words.
“Vigilante’s crazy and reckless, but he’s resourceful. He can make it out alive, but if we go back, we can’t.” John tried to reason with you.
“I don’t care. I have to go back.” You objected.
You heard the White Dragon’s followers catching up to you.
“We’ll find him, (Y/N), but for now we need to stay out of sight.” Chris gave you a pleading look. You took a deep breath, running your fingers through your hair, wiping your tears, and nodding. You followed Chris and John through the woods until you realized they were tracking you through Chris’ helmet. You guys ditched the helmet and you watched Chris fight a wild raccoon. It was interesting to say the least, but you truly only had one thing on your mind. Adrian. Your idiotic boyfriend who might be dead somewhere in the woods.
After about 15 minutes of hiding in the woods, you make it back to the road where you see a red car in a ditch. When you get close enough to the window you see a familiar figure asleep in the driver’s seat. Please don’t be dead.
“Adrian.” You let the word leave your mouth just before you take off in a sprint for the car. Chris opens the driver side door, pushing him over to the passenger seat. You get into the back and Economos and Eagly follow. You shush John’s complaining as Eagly pecks him. Usually you’d be more considerate if you weren’t so worried about Adrian.
“Adrian, how hurt are you?” You ask. He ignores you. He instead goes to turn up the radio.
“What are you doing man?” Chris asks.
“There’s no wrong time to rock, motherfucker.” He says with a big goofy smile.
“Now is. This is the wrong time to rock.” Chris tells him. Normally you would think he was being cute if you weren’t so concerned about his health. He at least had to have a concussion.
“Babe?” You tried to get his attention.
“That’s me!” He smiled at your affectionate pet name for him. You usually didn’t call him anything other than Vigilante or Vig on missions, but you didn’t care at this point.
“Hey, look at me. What do you see?” You said looking at him, seeing a far off look on his face. You start to show him numbers with your hands.
You show a number 2.
“Scissors.”
You show a number 5.
“Paper.”
You show a number 1.
“Rock with a finger on it.”
“They’re showing you numbers, idiot.” John chimes in.
“Not helping.” You give him a disapproving look.
“Can you count backwards from 10?” You ask trying to continue the concussion questions.
“Can he count backwards from 10 on a normal day?” John asks.
“You know what? I really fucking hope Eagly starts pecking you again.” You shoot him a death glare.
“How did they find you guys anyway?” Adrian asks.
“They put a GPS tracking device in Peacemaker’s helmet.” John says. Adrian gives us a nervous sort of ‘oops’ look.
“What?” Chris asks. He slams on the breaks.
“I didn’t know! I thought they were expensive!” He tried to defend himself. We all just exchanged looks. He was just trying to help. We couldn’t be mad at him.
You follow your boyfriend into the woods to pee to make sure he doesn’t pass out. You don’t fully trust his functionality right now. You stand with your back to him, as to not make him pee shy. You begin to hear faint yelling in the distance. You watch as Economos crawls through the woods to you.
“What are you doing?” You ask.
“Shhh. They’re here!” He says in a sort of whisper yell.
“Why the fuck are your pants all the way down?” He asks Adrian.
“I can’t pee when clothes are touching my butt.” He says. John shoots you a look and you just nod. Adrian was your boyfriend. You were unphased. After pulling up his pants, Adrian runs through the woods and jumps on the White Dragon stopping his speech and stopping him from killing Chris. You gasp as Adrian is throw off of his back right into the middle of a circle of his followers, guns aimed at him. Without thinking you throw yourself in front of him.
“What are you doing?!” He asks.
“In the past half an hour I didn’t know if you were dead or alive and it made me realize I can’t live without you.” You tell him honestly. He kisses you deeply until you hear gunshots. He wraps his arms around you, trying to shield you from the fire until bodies start hitting the ground and you realize John has taken out all of the White Dragon’s followers. You stay in Adrian’s arms for a minute holding onto the only thing that matters in life. Each other. You get up just in time to see Peacemaker kill his father. Adrian tries his best to comfort Chris, but he doesn’t really know what to do. Chris didn’t often show his emotions, covering them up with his humor. It was awkward, but a sweet gesture, a side of Adrian that you loved. Even though he didn’t necessarily register emotions the same way most people did, he still cared about how those close to him were feeling. If you let him try, he would eventually figure out a pattern that worked for you. Dating him had given you the perspective. After he backed away from Chris you took his hand in yours and lightly squeezed. He squeezed back. You were comforted knowing he was really alive and not just some dream.
After letting Chris take his time to grieve, he remembered something important. Eagly. He was injured in the fight and wasn’t doing too well. You rushed into the car and immediately googled the closest veterinary practice. They would know what to do. Without thinking, the four of you rushed into the building, no masks, guns in hand. At first a little freaked out, they decided to stitch up Eagly. You were in the waiting room leaning your head on your boyfriend’s shoulder when a thought suddenly came to Adrian’s foggy brain. He got up and cocked his gun in the faces of the vet and the nurses.
“What are you doing?” You ask.
“They’ve seen our faces and we’re wanted. I have to kill them.” He tells you.
“But they didn’t do anything wrong!” You protest.
“They saw our faces. I need to protect us.” He said very deadpan.
Harcourt and Adebayo walked through the door. Finally. We begin to explain the situation.
“It must be weird waking up everyday and being a male nurse.” He comments. You give him a disapproving look.
“You’re a fucking busboy.” John remarks. You have to stifle a laugh.
“Oh great. Now we definitely have to kill them because you’re giving away stuff about my secret identity.” He says repositioning his gun. You step between him and the people.
“I’m sorry my boyfriend hit his head pretty hard earlier and I think he has a concussion.” You make an excuse for him.
“Now they know my greatest weakness!” He whines. You blush at the comment.
“I’m your greatest weakness?” You ask.
“Stop the flirting or shoot me too.” John sighs.
“Do we really have to kill these people?” He asks. After some thinking Harcourt gets Adrian to put the gun down. She suggests we tie them up instead.
“Okay, but we can’t use duct tape. That’ll hurt their skin when they try to rip it off.” Adrian tells them. You can’t help, but think of some suggestive images. What was wrong with you?
“So you’re compassionate about tape, but not about brutally murdering people?” He asks.
“Yes.” Adrian replies. You realize this isn’t making yourself look any better. You walk back to the waiting room, sit down, and put your head in your hands, resting your elbows on your knees. Adrian follows you.
“What’s wrong?” He asks.
“Nothing.” You lie. The truth is you know what’s going to happen next and you’re not happy about it. He sits down next to you, putting a hand on your back.
“Did I embarrass you back there?” He asks.
“No.” You say softly.
“You know you can talk to me.” He reminds you. You let out a sob you had been holding in all day. He pulls you from your hands and into his arms. He rubs small circles into your back and he lets you cry it out, just as he had learned he often needed to do in this sort of situation with you. When your sobs begin to quiet he pulls from you and looks into your eyes. You trace the cut on his forehead and he winces. You kiss the cut.
“What’s going on?” He asks.
“Adrian, I thought you were dead. You almost died and now-“ You stopped to take a deep breath.
“They’re going to ask you to go back out there again.” You continue.
“I have to. Who else will? They need all the help they can get.” He comments. You nod, holding back tears.
“One more serious hit to your head and you could die.” You try to reason with him.
“If I don’t go out there, the entire world could die.” He argues. You nod again biting your lip.
“I know.” You say gripping his chest tightly, as he wraps his arms around you again. Some time passes before you go back into the room with everyone else. The decision has been made. Harcourt is leading the mission and Adrian is going on it. When it’s time to volunteer to go, you jump at the chance. You’re not letting him go without you.
You watch him feed Eagly in the van on the way to the barn where they keep the cow. He smiles and you try to burn it into your memory. You never want to forget seeing him like this. You sit next to him and lean your head on his shoulder.
“Wanna try?” He asks passing you a chip. He guides your hand to the Eagle’s mouth and he takes the chip. You let out a soft giggle. Adrian joins in the laughter. He wraps his arms around you and you melt into him. You loved him more than anything and you were happy to have this moment of peace in the middle of the most chaotic day of your life thus far.
