Nunca he sido muy fan de Ibáñez, la verdad. Sus historias eran repetitivas y no me llamaban especialmente la atención. Pero he de reconocer la magia del estilo del maestro. El trabajo de Ibáñez gustará más o gustará menos. Pero lo que no se le puede negar es su relevancia. Está en nuestro imaginario común y sigue estando presente en el de la gente más jovencita. Algo tiene. Este dibujo lo había copiado hace bastante tiempo y no he podido resistirme a entintarlo emulando el estilo del maestro. D.E.P

Shirley TV series, 1972

Maria Montez II played the role of Carolina in Shirley Spanish TV series. Chapter I was aired the 26th February 1972, Chapter II the 29th February, Chapter III the 1rst March, Chapther IV the 3rd March, and Chapter V also the 3rd March.

This was the Spanish adaptation of the world famous Charlotte Brontë novel "Shirley, A Tale" and it was directed by Gabriel Ibañez.

Plot (it may contain Spoilers)

In the neblinous world of Yorkshire County we are meeting two Belgian brothers, Hortensia and Robert, settled some time ago in England, and a neighbor of these, a girl named Carolina, who lives in the company of an uncle of hers, Protestant pastor. And finally, Shirley, a young owner who is accompanied by her governess, an older lady. Everyone is going to get the almost magical effect of Shirley's presence in the place.

I found these sketches of the animated movie, Mortadelo y Filemón contra Jimmy el Cachondo (2014). I love it.

Side note (thanks to some Spaniards I know): Cachondo in Spain means a joker or someone who makes jokes.

I know that I don't usually talk about the things I like in Spanish because I know that most of you are not going to be very interested, but. Yes, I love all the concept art behind this film, especially because genuinely everyone involved was excited to make a work in tribute to Francisco Ibañez. (of course it is also because I dream of being a conceptual artist) I would like one of the artists to release a little more of the conceptual art of the film, but I have only been able to find some loose things

also, Yes, I know that it can be the funniest thing to look for the translation from Spanish to English and end up realizing that the word means something else and has more meanings XD
