You can eat the francesinha sandwich in Porto as often as you like. Walking this city is an intense workout so the calories aren’t noticeable. Dessert may even be called for.

The signature sandwich is on offer in many forms all over the city but Cafe Santiago is its epicenter.

Its a new month! But the flea market wasnt open due to the rain and bad weather :(
However!!!! A Lego store opened here :D So me and my friends went there instead.
Tumblr media
Right at the door there is a lego recreation of a Francesinha, a tipical dish of Porto. :D
The store was packed with people, probably bc its brand new and its the 1st of its kind in the city. There was an area to choose the bricks you want by the cup, a mini-fig building area and a bunch of beautiful lego displays.
Tumblr media
Me and my friends made a mini-fig each. Mine was the left one! The friend that made the one on the right took 40mins to make it bc she couldnt decide what she wanted XD meanwhile me and the other just went around the store looking at the sets.
I also had a mini crisis looking at the flower/botanical sets... it was so dificult to chose one to take home!
Tumblr media
I ended up buying the daffodils! But i want the other flowers too so this might be the start of a new collection XD
Tumblr media
I haven't played with legos in years but it was so fun! :D i need a pretty vase for the pretty flowers!

porto
“Back in the beginning, fresh out of the kitchen, when I first went out in the world trying to figure out how to make television, I came to Northern Portugal. Little did I know what I would find. Up until then, for 30 years spent working in kitchens, meat had come wrapped in plastic. I’d order it in boxes. I had never seen an animal die because I was making dinner.” - Anthony Bourdain, Parts Unknown in Porto
porto was a last minute add to our honeymoon. thanks to the flight schedule changing, we were able to fly out a few days earlier and add in an extra destination. we chose porto. personally i was inspired by tony's porto episods in both no reservations and parts unknown. also, it was highly recommended by friends.
and what a choice it was. porto was amazing.
it's a hilly city with extremely friendly locals. i must say that portuguese were significantly nicer than italians and spanish. there was this sense of welcoming hospitality towards foreigners. all of our interactions with hotel staff, restaurant workers, tour guides, etc. were positive and friendly. the only time i got yelled at was when i was waiting for a restaurant to open a portuguese grandma yelled out something to me as she walked up the alley into her house. i'm pretty sure she said "you dumb ass the restaurant will open when they want to open!" lol.
food. we must talk about food and drinks. every little thing we ate were delicious. small fried fish. the majestic hot dog deviant. the octopus salad. the devilish francesinha. and just give me all the nates in the town. along with super bock on draft. all the bottles of vinho verdes. port wine was not my favorite - something i don't mind savoring but didn't find it to be exquisite.
the favorite part of the visit was watching sunset over douro river. we grabbed a cheap bottle of vinho verdhe and found ourselves among the crowd at jardim do morro. we sat there, sipping on wine, enjoying the crowd, and live music by a brazilian artist. the old city to the right, the new city to the left, surrounding the curvy river as the sunsets over the atlantic. what a scene. what a city.
"porto - late add to our honeymoon. charming old city. simple yet delicious food. fish, nata, vinho verde, and super bock. watching sunset at jardim do morro. 3 euro uber rides and beer cheaper than water. wonderful people who appreciate the visitors. obrigado." - anthony boordain
