Fairfield Porter (1907-1975) Jimmy Schuyler (the poet James Schuyler) c. 1959 oil on canvas 79.4 x 110.5 cm The Bluet JAMES SCHUYLER And is it stamina that unseasonably freaks forth a bluet, a Quaker lady, by the lake? So small, a drop of sky that splashed and held, four-petaled, creamy in its throat. The woods around were brown, the air crisp as a Carr's table water biscuit and smelt of cider. There were frost apples on the trees in the field below the house. The pond was still, then broke into a ripple. The hills, the leaves that have not yet fallen are deep and oriental rug colors. Brown leaves in the woods set off gray trunks of trees. But that bluet was the focus of it all: last spring, next spring, what does it matter? Unexpected as a tear when someone reads a poem you wrote for him: "It's this line here." That bluet breaks me up, tiny spring flower late, late in dour October.

Charlet Sanieoff Presents The Most Expensive Real Estate Properties in The World
Charlet Sanieoff
Many people have the misconception that owning a home is cheaper in other countries, but it’s not. Some of the most expensive real estate markets are outside the United States. We’ve compiled a list of six prime locations where you can buy your dream house—if you can afford to live there!
Villa Leopolda, France
Price: $750 million
If you have the money, you can buy a luxurious home anywhere. But some locations are more expensive than others. Villa Leopolda, located on the French Riviera, is one of the most expensive real estate properties. The estate was built in 1902 for King Leopold II of Belgium and was later sold to an Italian businessman million in 2008.
The penthouse at One Hyde Park, London
Price: $318 million
One Hyde Park is a luxury residential development in London completed in 2011. The development includes 86 apartments, and it is one of the most expensive real estate developments in the world. The penthouse at One Hyde Park is the most expensive apartment in the development, and it is also one of the most expensive apartments in the world. The penthouse was sold in 2014, and it is currently the most expensive apartment in the world.
The Antilia, Mumbai
Price: $2.2 billion
The Antilia is among the world's most expensive real estate property. It is located in Mumbai, India, and is worth an estimated $2.2 billion. The 27-story building was designed by architects Perkins & Will and took four years to complete. The Antilia is home to Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, and his family. The building is rumored to have cost over $1 billion to construct.
Buckingham Palace, London
Price: $6.7 billion
The lavish Buckingham Palace has been the official London residence of Britain's sovereigns since 1837. Situated in the city's fashionable St James's district, the palace covers an impressive 39 acres and contains 775 rooms, including 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 19 staterooms, 92 offices, 188 staff bedrooms, and 78 bathrooms.
Including the royal apartments, the Buckingham Palace gardens cover an impressive 40 acres. The palace is also home to the Queen's Gallery, which hosts a program of changing exhibitions, and the Royal Mews, where visitors can see the royal coaches and carriages.
The Odeon Tower Penthouse in Monaco
Price: $387 million
The Odeon Tower Penthouse in Monaco is among the most expensive real estate properties. The penthouse is located on the top floor of the Odeon Tower, which is a 44-story building that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. The penthouse features a private pool, a terrace, and a view of the coastline.
Four Fairfield Pond, Sagaponack, New York
Price: $250 million
Four Fairfield Pond has an estimated value of $250 million. The property covers 63 acres and includes a massive mansion that spans over 60,000 square feet. There are also several smaller homes on the property, a tennis court, a basketball court, and a pool.
The property is owned by Ira Rennert, a billionaire investor and philanthropist. Rennert is known for his lavish lifestyle, and this property is just one example of his extravagance.
The list of the most expensive real estate properties in the world is just a snapshot of some of the priciest locations you can buy a home. Whether you're looking for a luxurious penthouse in London or an expansive estate in New York, these six properties will set you back a pretty penny. If you're lucky enough to afford one of these homes, congratulations! You're among the elite few who can say they own one of the most expensive pieces of real estate in the world.

When it shall be made to appear to the Secretary of the Treasury that the interests of commerce or the protection of the revenue so require, he may cause to be stationed at places in the various collection districts, though not named as ports of entry, officers or employees of the customs with authority to enter and clear vessels, to accept entries of merchandise, to collect duties, and to enforce the various provisions of the customs and navigation laws.''

A Relished Life in Redding Connecticut
By Mark Gilrain, Licensed in Connecticut
A little over a century ago, an urbanite with material success gained and lost and gained again, quit city living for a sophisticated life integrated into the earthy hills of central Fairfield County.  That urbanite was an author known publicly as Mark Twain and the town in central Fairfield County was Redding CT.  Ever since then city dwellers with a bit of success under their belt and a little creativity in their soul have made the same choice.
Redding would probably be referred to as the quiet corner of Fairfield County if it weren’t Fairfield County’s geographic heart.  But if not a corner, it is quiet.  But maybe not that either.  Peaceful is a better word.  Peaceful with natural beauty that starts in the roots of the rocky ridges and extends through the verdant farms and forests to the blue skies.  Rural town elements clustered on its byways and waterways turn it from country to community.
Redding is a town of sophisticates.  Sophisticates who value open space, the option of a quiet pace, and a community where relationships are built for the long haul and the old-fashioned way through collaboration, cooperation, and taking the time to be there.
Redding housing is historic or contemporary or current.  Properties are amply sized with 2-acre and greater zoning.
An hour from Manhattan and minutes from commercial and cultural centers in southern and mid-Connecticut, Redding feels like a personal paradise.  One might want a suburban cul-de-sac and it’s there.  One might want a home where walking to dining was possible and it’s there.  One might want a house on a hill with your own private third of a mile drive and it’s there.
Redding has a secret excellence that its residents know well and work hard to sustain.
Here are four of the most vaunted aspects of Redding:
Redding Schools
Educating Redding’s youth falls to the Easton-Redding-Region 9 School District which works to provide outstanding academic and character education for students across Redding Elementary School, John Read Middle School, and Joel Barlow High School.  It is a blue-ribbon school system receiving this nation-wide recognition because of the quality of its programs and the student results it produces.  The elementary school has been awarded the prestigious PTA School of Excellence Award repeatedly including the last full year for which the award was given.
With William Butler Yeats’s exhortation that “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire,” Redding educators prepare young people for not just academic performance but for a life of curiosity, discovery, and fulfillment.
Georgetown Center
On the west side of town where Redding meets the neighboring towns of Wilton, Weston, and Ridgefield, is the historic mill center of Georgetown.  Site of a once active and lucrative wire mill, the area is now a crossroads of dining, shopping, small shops, and a neighborhood of in-town style homes that have the charm of yesteryear.
Redding Ridge
On the east side of town, not far from the campus of Joel Barlow High, is where Cross Highway meets Black Rock Turnpike on a high plateau.  A historic church is straight from a New England post card.  The Spinning Wheel, a winner of Connecticut Magazine’s Best of CT Restaurants, offers current dining excellence with a name that evokes the past.  The local post office shares a road side turnout with a high-ceilinged and cavernous market and deli that’s as much about mouth-watering desserts and treats as it is about overstuffed sandwiches and refreshing salads.
Notable Places and Events
A number of Redding’s attractions are due to its natural beauty.  Three ridges with intervening valleys orient the town with the Aspetuck River, Little River, Norwalk River, and Saugatuck Reservoir all found within the borders of the town.  Preserves and parks are numerous with Huntington State Park, Devil’s Den, and Highstead Arboretum among the biggest and most well-known.  Topstone Park offers a swimming lake, boat rentals, basketball courts, and is friendly to dogs.
The Redding Parks and Recreation Department offers state of the art facilities at the Redding Community Center with space for teens, adults, and seniors.  Every year the Mark Twain Library (named after that famous past Redding resident) holds a blowout used book sale raising revenue for a rich set of programs like magicians for kids, author visits, and lectures.
New Pond Farm Education Center offers programs for kids throughout the year and summer camps on a working farm. Each May, the farm is the site for the start and end of Redding’s fully subscribed “Run for the Cows” series. Distances range all the way from Piglet Prance to the Redding Half Marathon.
If You Are Thinking of Living in Redding
Numerous beautiful homes are for sale in Redding.  Here are a few that might be of interest.  56 Hopewell Woods Road a contemporary farmhouse colonial with pool on almost 6 acres.  10 Rob Rider Road a large center hall with pool on over 5 acres. 19 Woods Way is an association 3 bed colonial walking distance to Georgetown’s center.

Hello from the other side (of the pond)
To start off, I would like to tell you about our amazing academic solutions team (our program mentors) who await upon your arrival to London! They are with you from start to end; booking various different trips, dinners, theatre outings etc... So far we have visited Dover, Canterbury, Liverpool! Kasia is our main point of contact and she is incredible! She is easily the kindest and happiest person I have ever met! Along with Kasia we have George, Ryan, and a student representative named Mary. Obviously the student representatives change by the semester, but I do believe Mary will be here for the spring 2018 semester as well! Together Kasia, George, Ryan, and Mary are our support outlet through out the study abroad experience! Kasia's named in pronounced like the Kashi cereal brand, except with an 'a' instead of an 'i'. (I struggled with her name at first). Kasia is very well traveled and knows all of the best restaurants. Below is a picture of me with Kasia at the Cavern Pub in Liverpool and a photo of me at the Cliffs of Dover!

A lot has happened since my last post! I have started classes and I have joined a couple societies on campus; such as the Arab society, the food society, and the Queen Mary Acapella group, which is a part of the music society. I was unsure at first if I wanted to join Acapella, because I had known it would be time consuming. I like to travel as much as everyone else, but I feel that I have my entire life to travel around the world, but only one chance to be apart of a European campus and create music with people from all over! Getting involved on campus is extremely important, whether I am at Fairfield or here at Queen Mary the importance of joining a club is huge. Studying abroad doesn't mean you have to take a break from what you love. Queen Mary has over 200 societies to choose from which is crazy, there are so many options! I am so glad I decided to join the music society, it has taken my study abroad experience to a new level while also filling my Glee Club/Sweet Harmony void. Plus, who doesn't like making more new friends? I have made such great friends in this group, ranging from Seychelles to Romania to Hong Kong.  Here is a photo of my A capella group and I enjoying a wonderful dinner!
Tumblr media
Now, about my classes, I am currently enrolled in four modules: a British history class, a theatre class, a marketing class, and a business ethics class. Unlike the Fairfield, these classes meet once a week and are broken up into an hour lecture and an hour seminar. I didn't know how I would adjust to this teaching style, but I find it has a lot of advantages. I only have three days of classes per week, which gives me a lot of time to sit back and enjoy the beautiful view from my bedroom. Here are a couple photos of my great sixth floor views!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My theatre class has been my favorite so far, it is a history based theatre course, so it links well to my British history course. Most recently, my professor sent us to go see 'The Fall', which is a play about a student activism group the University of Cape town in South Africa, fighting for decolonization on campus. The theatre was small and intimate, and after the performance I was lucky enough to have met the entire cast! They all signed my script and I am now friends with some of them on facebook! They are actually performing their play in New York this winter, and I plan on meeting up with them again!
