Just saw a comment on a reddit post that suggested Frey's shoes are still so well-kept because Cuff protects them extra well. We do see traces of his magic around her feet as she runs, after all.

Like... Frey has put a high personal value on those shoes. Another thing she "wears," just like Cuff. I wonder if he's actively doing that out of a sort of respect, or if it's more subconscious :)

I got inspired by @phoenixiancrystallist and @cruelfeline to draw a bit more Forspoken! This is another AU design that popped into my head where Susurrus was better contained and Frey was born and raised in Athia. She actually pulls his consciousness out of Cinta when she's born, but is still more naturally adapted to containing him.

In this setting she obviously learns more from her mother, gaining better swordfighting ability and the Junoon royal fashion.

She does eventually (willingly) reabsorb all of his pieces when she becomes an adult. Until then, the newly-freed Cinta helps the other Tantas manage their piece of Cuff, a nickname Frey now gives him after seeing his more artificial forms on her aunties :>

And yes Bird!Cuff is still around. Because of course he is.

Huh! Got new dialogue after resting at camp I've never heard before. Frey asked if Cuff could hear all the bugs and he's like "I hope that's what they are..."

So that's three bits of insect-related dialogue XD

Month 7, day 26

Migraines suck but I promised the Forspoken community* a banner and avatar today and bY GOLLY I WILL DELIVER ON MY PROMISES, BRAIN IMPLOSIONS BE DAMNED D<

I spent, like... I was not paying attention to my start time but I want to say two hours? Let's go with two hours. Anyway, I spent FOREVER on the Cipal banner and then for Frey and Cuff I just took the cutscene screenshot and went "eh that just needs a bit of saturation and contrast tweaking" and spent all of maybe twenty seconds on it lol

Frey sighed through her teeth. "I'm sorry."

"There," Cuff said, "was that so hard?"

"Yeah, it was fucking torture." She hesitated, then continued. "But you're right. I should have listened to you."

Cuff chuckled, but it ended on a pained grunt as Frey scrubbed a little too hard trying to buff out the gouge Gigas had left on him. "Apology accepted. I'm sorry, too."

That surprised her. "For what?"

"That I couldn't protect you at the end there."

Frey had to stop what she was doing so she didn't make the damage he'd taken worse. "Wha— Cuff, you were broken! I almost thought you were dead!"

"You mean you hoped?" Cuff teased despite the pain in his voice.

"No, idiot, I was scared shitless! You're my only friend out here, I—" She cut off. She'd said too much. Let her heart run away with her mouth. The worst part was she couldn't run this time; whatever Cuff decided to do with that, she was stuck with him. Her only solace was he couldn't just throw her away like her foster parents had every time she started to get attached. They were stuck together, but if he wanted to leave like everyone else anyway—

"Frey? Frey, I need you to take a deep breath."

She did. It didn't help, but she took another one just in case that did the trick.

"I'm not going to leave you, Frey," he promised, and at first she was certain she'd heard him wrong.
