Four Ford Focus Hot Hatches are Getting the SEMA Treatment
[See image gallery at www.autoguide.com] At least four Ford Focus hot hatches will be showing up at the companyâs display at the 2017 SEMA Show. The American automaker has begun releasing previews for its upcoming SEMA projects, and if history dictates, Ford will have plenty of them to show off in Las Vegas later this month. To kick things off, Ford has released renders for three Focus RS projects and one Focus ST, showing off the hot hatch as a tuner platform. The sole Focus ST project will be easy to see on the show floor, even in the sea of hundreds of modified vehicles. Sporting a Midnight Purple exterior, the Focus ST packs even more of a punch thanks to a FullRace turbo kit, Ford Performance exhaust, and tuning by Blood Type Racing. Giving it a more menacing stance is an Air Lift Performance air suspension, while a Wilwood big brake kit improves stopping performance. Other exterior modifications include Rally Innovations splitter kit and rear hatch wing, as well as a Thule roof rack system. The Focus ST will roll on 19-inch B-Forged Performance wheels wrapped with Toyo T1 Sports tires. SEE ALSO: Custom 1966 Ford Bronco is Boosted and Oh So Blue Then thereâs the trio of modified Ford Focus RS hatchbacks, starting with the âTriAthleteâ that aims to perform at the drag strip, the road course, or on Americaâs twisty backroads. A sinister matte black finish adorns the exterior further accented by custom airbrush art and lightweight carbon fiber pieces from Anderson Composites. Air Lift provides its Performance Series suspension, while under-the-hood performance gets boosted with a Ford Performance exhaust, COBB Tuning carbon fiber cold air intake, and Levels Performance intercooler. Wheels will come from Forgestar, with the brandâs CF5 adorning each corner, paired with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Next up is another Focus RS project in collaboration with the Universal Technical Institute. The bright Axalta Pennzoil yellow paint will surely grab your attention, along with the 19-inch Rotiform wheels with Falken tires and Anderson Composites carbon fiber body accessories. FullRace contributes with an intake, intercooler, and piping, while BC Racing coilovers improve handling and ride height. Baer brakes can be found lurking behind each wheel. Interior upgrades include several Ford Accessories products including a carbon fiber shift knob, instrument cluster, and window switch cover. Lastly, thereâs a rally-inspired Focus RS project that benefits from several Mountune parts including a high-flow induction kit and full intercooler upgrade. All the exhaust fumes are expelled through a Borla three-inch catted downpipe that leads to a Ford Performance S-Type exhaust. Handling ride height is a set of RS-R Sports-i coilover suspension, while the 19-inch OZ Racing Superturismo GT wheels are a perfect fit for the rally look. Other exterior modifications include pieces from Rally Innovations and a wrap from Rolotech. Ford promises to have over 50 vehicles on display at the 2017 SEMA Show in Las Vegas so expect to hear more from the American automaker in the coming weeks. The 2018 Pro-Dyno MM&FF Battle at the Beach
As Mustang enthusiasts, weâre all caught up in dyno numbers. Dyno manufacturers owe Mustang enthusiasts a debt of gratitude for keeping them in business. When we add headers, we want to know how much power they made. When we add a cold air intake and tune, we want to how much bang we received in return for our hard-earned dollars. When we add a supercharger, guess what, we need a dyno tune to see how much more power we have at our disposal.
You can say the Mustang market revolves around dyno numbers. Horsepower numbers define us. Weâre always on the hunt for more power, thinking of ways to increase our Mustangâs output. We add cubic inches, or an engine swap, or a power adder such as a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous. Sometimes we combine a supercharger and a turbo, and in other instances a little nitrous is needed to supplement a supercharger.
After perfecting your Mustangâs power combination, youâre ready for a competition like our Pro-Dyno MM&FF Battle at the Beach. We scour every corner of the country for the best representations of high-horsepower Mustangs, but also, those that may not make a ton of power just to give you an idea of whatâs possible with every power adder/engine combination. If we just focused on one power adder/engine combination; that would be boring. Therefore, we try to cover all the power adder/engine combinations so we can provide some variety.
For the 2018 Pro-Dyno Battle at the Beach, we also had a treat for those in attendance. In addition to all the great Mustangs we had planned for the competition, we were able to get Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his Formula Drift RTR Mustang involved, as well. Most of us only get to see Vaughnâs Mustang doing burnouts and drift displays, but having it in the Pro-Dyno Battle at the Beach provided everyone an up-close look at one of the most famous Mustangs on the planet. Plus, it gave us the opportunity to see what a different power adder/engine combination would make, and that is what the Pro-Dyno Battle at the Beach is all about.
To see where your Mustang friends finished, and to get the lowdown on the different competing combinations, check out the captions.
A big part of what we do these days, in addition to the print product you hold in your hand, is posting on our social media channels. During the Pro-Dyno Battle at the Beach, Mustang360 Tech Editor Mark Houlahan was working the phone, and interacting with viewers. For those unable to make it to Mustang Week, and the Battle at the Beach, we were still able to bring you the action via Facebook live.
When putting together the 2018 Pro-Dyno MM&FF Battle at the Beach, we wanted some way to take the competition to another level; a way to get even more Mustang performance fans to take in the action. We needed someone famous in the Mustang arena, paired with something loud. Somehow, we were able to talk Vaughn Gittin, Jr. into participating in the Battle at the Beach. We owe a debt of gratitude to RevAutoâs Adam Browne and RTRâs Jess Albright for helping make it happen, and Vaughn brought the energy when it was time for his Formula Drift racer to be on the Pro-Dyno portable Dynojet. Now we have to figure out what to do for 2019.
Working with the Pro-Dyno guys for the Battle at the Beach is a breeze. Pro-Dynoâs Dan DeSio and the rest of the crew had participant cars on and off the dyno with quickness. With 10 cars participating in the 2018 Pro-Dyno MM&FF Battle at the Beach, the first car was on the dyno at 9AM, and we were done before noon. Participants get two dyno pulls with five minute breaks in between to make any tuning changes. Some people take one pull, and are happy, but most take advantage of the two pulls. Weâre easy, so if a participant is happy with their first pull, so much the better. However, our experience tells us most want that second pull, and most are rewarded with more power than their first.
Steve Shrader competed in the 2016 Pro-Dyno Battle at the Beach, but at that time, the car had a 323ci Two-Valve engine with a Vortech supercharger and ZEX nitrous. He also converted the car to use a 6R80 transmission, and it was regularly in the 9-second zone after he ironed out all the bugs. At that time, the car made 899 horsepower on the Pro-Dyno portable Dynojet. Shrader was a longtime champion of Two-Valve performance, but he finally succumbed to the desire to see what a Coyote would do under the hood in his 1999 Mustang GT. Specifically, Shrader added a Gen2 Coyote engine packed with Manley forged H-beam rods, DSS forged pistons, ARP head and main studs, and a GT350 intake manifold. The heads and cams remain stock, but Shrader chose Kooks long-tube headers with the corresponding X-pipe, along with a Magnflow after-cat exhaust. A Vortech supercharger with a small shot of nitrous remains the power adder of choice, but behind the Coyote is a Tremec T56 Magnum with a McLeod RXT clutch. A Shrader Performance tune finished up the swap. With all the changes on the car, we were curious to see the horsepower difference between a Two-Valve and a Coyote. We wouldnât consider the two engines to be an apples-to-apples comparison, since the Two-Valve displaced 323 inches, and the Coyoteâs heads and cam remain stock. However, even so, Shrader went from 899 horsepower in 2016 with the Two-Valve to 1020.43 horsepower in 2018 to win the Pro-Dyno MM&FF Battle at the Beach.
Rick Marion â 811.77 horsepower One power adder that has taken over the Mustang market is the turbocharger. Just a few short years ago, turbocharging was reserved for serious race cars, but it seems every other 2011-2018 Mustang GT has a pair of turbochargers under the hood. The Coyote market blossomed the use of turbochargers, and several aftermarket companies have a variety of turbo systems available, from entry-level to 6-second capable systems. To boost his Lightning Blue 2017 Mustang GT, Rick Marion called on Armageddon Turbo Systems for one of its twin 58mm turbocharged systems. To make sure the engine was ready for the power, it was treated to upgraded oil pump gears and crank sprocket, ID1000 injectors, a Kooks exhaust system, a Circle D converter, and a custom Lund Racing tune. The GT retains its stock 3.15 gear, but suspension upgrades abound, and includes an Airlift Performance 3P airbag system. To go along with the suspension upgrades, the GT boasts Rotiform KPS wheels wrapped in Nitto treads. Before adding the bags, Marion ran a 9.49 at 149 mph using Forgestar F14 Drag Pack wheels with Mickey Thompson ET Street Rs. In its current form on bags, Marion is hoping to run in the 9.60s. Leading up to the Pro-Dyno Battle at the Beach, we knew Marionâs GT was going to be one of the front runners, and by making 811 horsepower, he certainly didnât disappoint.
Vaughn Gittin Jr â 766.33 horsepower A special guest in the Pro-Dyno Battle at the Beach, Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his Formula Drift RTR demo Mustang didnât disappoint when it came time to put on a show. Prior to the car getting on Pro-Dynoâs portable Dynojet, Gittin mentioned that this was the first time the car would be publicly witnessed on a dyno. Gittin usually displays horsepower by burning the tires off the car during drift competitions and displays like those at Mustang Week. With a Ford Performance 5.0 XS crate engine, a Vortech JT-Trim supercharger, a Boss intake, ID1000 injectors, American Racing Headers long-tubes, and a Pfitzner Performance Gearbox sequential shifted Tremec T56 Magnum, we knew the number would be pretty high. Hearing Gittin on track, we also know the engine in his car zings to the moon. That was also evident on Pro-Dynoâs portable Dynojet. The Vortechâs boost level is wastegate-controlled, which isnât all that common with a centrifugal supercharger. On the âlow-boostâ setting, the combination was good for 637.03 horsepower, but on the âhigh-boostâ setting, it made 766.33 horsepower.
Jonnie Ream â 569.22 horsepower Like weâve said elsewhere, diversification is more important to us compared to max power. We truly want to give everyone a guide as to the capabilities of their Mustang using a variety of power adders. Representing the ProCharger camp, Jonnie Reamâs 2015 Mustang GT featured one of the companyâs P-1SC-1 Stage II kits. One of the least modified Battle at the Beach contestants, Jonnieâs GT still features the stock engine with the ProCharger, and other than that, the GT benefits from a Pypes Performance Exhaust axle-back, and a Blowfish Racing shifter support bracket. âThatâs all this time around,â Jonnie says. He hints that more power will be coming to the car in 2019. This minimalistic approach to making power was still good for a shade under 570 horsepower on Pro-Dynoâs portable Dynojet.
Brian Prince â 537.43 horsepower When it comes to Coyote performance, the power adder we all fell in love with has fallen by the wayside. Weâre talking about nitrous. There was a time when every other Mustang had a kit on it, but that was also a time when most of us bought a Mustang because it fit our budget. These days, Mustangs are more expensive, so the budget ceiling is higher, and that means many people have moved to superchargers and turbochargers for added power. However, when performing a Coyote swap, many exhaust their walletâs capacity just doing the swap that thereâs not enough in the kitty for a power adder. Therefore, nitrous sometimes presents the right option for giving your Coyote swap a boost. For Brian Prince, his Coyote swap utilizes a F150 engine upgraded to Mustang specs, except for the pistons. The engine does benefit from billet oil pump gears and crank sprocket, an ATI balancer, a Holley Sniper intake, and a Nitrous Outlet 150hp kit. The Coyote benefits from a 3-inch exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers and VRS tailpipes. Oz Tuning makes sure everything is on the money. To even make the Pro-Dyno Battle at the Beach, Prince had a lot of work to do, but with the help of many friends, he made it. For all his hard work, Princeâs nitrous-fed, Coyote-swapped 1986 GT made 537.42 horsepower.
Danny Rosenbaum â 493.78 horsepower The thing with Ford is that the company will introduce a killer car, and everyone pounces on it, thinking itâs the greatest thing since sliced bread. However, the very next year Ford will have something even better. With the Shelby GT500, the car gets better each model year, but like Danny Rosenbaum, sometimes all you have to do is fit the new carâs parts onto your own car. That way, you donât have to buy a new Mustang every year. What was different about the 2011 Shelby GT500 was that it benefitted from an aluminum engine to reduce weight, but the supercharger was a carryover from previous years. What Rosenbaum did to his 2011 Shelby GT500 was add a more efficient 2013-2014 GT500 TVS supercharger to his existing combination. Along with a JLT Performance cold air intake, a Ford Performance throttle-body, and a Steeda Autosports dual fan heat exchanger, Rosenbaum had hoped to bring the performance of his Shelby to current specs. Unfortunately, with the additional boost, he needed more fuel, more than was currently available with his Shelbyâs fuel system. For that reason, his Shelby was limited to 493 horsepower at the wheels at the Battle at the Beach. When Rosenbaum returned home after the competition he added a larger fuel system, a smaller supercharger pulley, and a Kooks exhaust to the car. âItâs a rocket ship now,â Rosenbaum says. He also changed up the exterior by adding different wheels, eliminating the stripes, and adding a cowl hood. With the newfound power, the Shelbyâs attitude now matches its exterior.
Bobby Coffman â 470.98 horsepower When the Shelby GT500 made its reappearance in 2007, Mustang enthusiasts took to it like they did the 2003 Cobra, buying them for way over sticker just to make sure they didnât miss out on the fun. The GT500 was the 2003 Cobraâs second coming, but the GT500 boasted 500 horsepower! Up until that time, that number was relatively unheard of from an American car. Horsepower numbers have since continued to climb, though, with a stop nowhere in sight. For Bobby Coffmanâs Shelby GT500, his 2010 came from the factory rated at 540 horsepower. His Grabber blue example still features the stock Eaton 2300 supercharger, along with the stock exhaust. However, it does have a Steeda Autosports 2.6-inch pulley and cold air intake, and with a Pro-Dyno tune it made 530 horsepower at the rear wheels. Unfortunately, that was in 2017, and this year the Pro-Dyno portable Dynojet was a little stingy, recording 471 horsepower at the wheels. Of course, Coffman wants more power than that, so future plans call for more boost, and upgrading the carâs exhaust. Those improvements should get it back over 500 horsepower where the Shelby GT500 belongs.
Michael Zwick â 317.40 horsepower Call us old school, but a centrifugally supercharged pushrod Fox combination is hard to beat in our book. Back in the day, if you had a GT40 intake on your Fox, you were the man. If your Fox had the whistle of a centrifugal supercharger, you instantly had rock star status. Michael Zwickâs 1990 LX coupe hit us on all cylinders when we needed a pushrod/Vortech combination for the Battle at the Beach. Starting with a Ford Performance crate 302 with a B303 cam, Y303 aluminum heads, and a Cobra intake, the friendly folks at Revolution Automotive added a Vortech V-1 H/D Ti supercharger. With Revolution Automotiveâs Adam Browne tuning the A9L PCM with 47 lb/hr injectors and an SCT BA2600 mass air, the car was good for 455 horsepower at the wheels. Once Zwick and the Revolution Automotive crew had the car ready, we knew we had to get the car into the competition. Unfortunately, the day of the competition Zwick drew the number one spot on the Pro-Dyno portable Dynojet. Sometimes thatâs good, sometimes that is bad. In Zwickâs case, it probably wasnât the best scenario for him. On Zwickâs first dyno pull it was thought the engine was blowing through the clutch. Another thought was that it was the tires spinning on the dyno. RevAutoâs Adam Browne did mention that on his dyno he had to warm up the tires on Zwickâs car to get an accurate number. Whatever the reason, Zwick was pretty disappointed when the final number came in at 317.40 horsepower. Zwick still has a wicked coupe on his hands, and maybe heâs one car we invite back for a redo in 2019.
Calvin Atwell â 311.09 horsepower When it comes to nice Mustangs, you would be hard pressed to find any cleaner than Calvin Atwellâs 2001 Bullitt. A painter by trade, itâs no wonder his Bullitt is one of the nicest, most detailed Mustangs weâve ever seen. Leaving any component untouched is against Atwellâs nature. He canât leave well enough alone. Most of us, when we reach a point that is good enough, we stop. Atwell starts where most of us stop, but none of his cars ever look overdone. For his Bullitt, specifically, the engine is the stock Two-Valve with a ported Bullitt intake and a Paxton Novi 2000 supercharger. To feed the supercharged combination, the Bullitt uses a 2003 Cobra fuel tank, twin fuel pumps, and 39 lb/hr injectors. The Paxton benefits from a CX Racing intercooler and an Anderson Ford Motorsport Power Pipe. BBK long-tubes with a corresponding X-pipe, and a Bassani cat-back make up the exhaust, while Revolution Automotiveâs Adam Browne tunes the car using SCT software. With a 3.25-inch pulley on the Paxton, the engine benefits from 13 pounds of boost. At the Battle at the Beach, we couldnât wait to see what the little Two-Valve could do with the Paxton, but Atwell and Browne forgot they lowered the rev limiter while previously tuning the car. The rev limiter was lowered because the car doesnât have a fuel pump voltage booster, and with the engine being stock, the guys were trying to keep the rods inside the engine. At the time of tuning, the car made 420 horsepower at Revolution Automotive, but to save the engine, they lowered the rev limiter until Atwell was able to add a voltage booster. Unfortunately, with the lowered rev limiter at the Battle at the Beach, Atwellâs Bullitt made just 311.09 horsepower at the wheels. Like Zwick, perhaps Atwell will need a redo in 2019.
Caleb Younts â 294.43 horsepower Caleb Yountsâ 2002 Saleen is a Battle at the Beach veteran, having competed in the 2016 version. Younts represents the budget-minded Mustang enthusiast, but said he had made a few modifications in an effort to increase horsepower. His Saleen is spotless, and we were looking forward to seeing the fruits of his labor. With a smaller blower pulley on his Saleenâs factory Eaton, along with an upgraded throttle-body, injectors, fuel pump, and tune, his little Two-Valve that could made up over 300 horsepower the last time it had spun any rollers in anger. Prior to the Battle at the Beach he had hoped to increase that number even more, but life was in the way and he didnât have a chance to get them on the car in time. Unfortunately for Younts, his Saleen couldnât make it to 300 horsepower this time, but in the end it made 294.43.

Video transcript:
[Music] [Applause] welcome back to Vivid racing Iâm Aaron and today weâre talking drag racing weâre talking about the spicy staggered setup the Big mey L Hoover 305 come alive this is drag pack 101 and by the end of this video you guys are going to have a solid foundation of what wheel setup to buy for your car whether youâre on the street or on the track or even both so first and foremost what is a drag pack technically speaking this is a term that Ford used back in the day however over time it has become commonly used to reference a lightweight wheel and drag tire package now on the front you will typically see a really skinny wheel setup these are called Front Runners or more commonly known as skinnies these will typically be about 4 and 1/2 in wide now the obvious reason for running these is weight reduction theyâre quite literally half the size I have heard arguments that thereâs more to it than just weight reduction but that is the basic principle here these really probably shouldnât be used for daily driving considering theyâre quite literally half the wheel of your traditional setup youâre going to run the risk of cracking a wheel from hitting a pothole due to how just simply how skinny they are there isnât a whole lot of mass there to absorb the impact but the real risk is the lack of traction purely because thereâs not much of a contact patch at all youâre quite literally getting half the amount of traction to steer your car so if you run into rain or inclement weather of any sort might get real spicy real quick but keep in mind for the daily drivers out there you donât have to run a 4 and 1 12 in wheel on the front to get your drag packed look all the wheels Iâm going to show you today all have great staggered fitment options to maintain skinnyish fronts now the biggest thing you want to look for when fitting the fronts is making sure you have a large enough Barrel to clear your brakes and spindles and everything else going on in there if you have like a six or eight piston brake kit with massive rotors youâre probably not going to fit a 15-in wheel on the front youâre probably looking a bit closer to your factory fitment which probably has like a 17 or 18in wheel that are typically 7 to 9 1/2 in wide unless youâre the Roll Racing GTR thatâs four-wheel drive you donât really need thick mey sidewalls on the fronts your goal is that you get just enough Tire on the ground to keep the car going straight with the least amount of rotational Mass possible often times youâll even see people run the factory fronts wrapped in like a Mickey Thompson Street comp all right so that covers everything for the front so letâs move to the back where all that big meaty thickness is the overall goal here is to get a smaller radius wheel that opens up the wheel well for a big old meaty sidewall and to have that big old wide and thick contact patch you may notice that your atypical drag pack is going to have bead locks on the rear as well this is so you can run a really low tire pressure to let that sidewall twist and grip on launch without the tire actually slipping on the wheel this is the same concept you see off-road vehicles using to grip in the dirt but rather than using a big knobby mud or dirt Tire theyâre using a big smooth drag radial or drag slick all said and done the recipe is a small radius wheel plus a thick contact patch plus a meaty sidewall plus an optional bead loock all of that together equals Maximum Traction now an example of why you want a really meaty sidewall is perfectly illustrated by Top Field drag cars when they launch obviously this is at a much greater scale than a street car but the same principles apply the twisting of the sidewall is the tire working to grab traction and it lets the contact patch do its job and grip the track and stops the Wheel from just spinning into a burnout drag races are often won and lost by The 330t Mark or even the 60t mark getting that launchd down is critical now the reality is 98% of all cars donât really need a bead loock typically anything under 800 horsepower you donât need a bead loock but if Iâm honest if I could afford a good bead loock I would do it in an instant I just I love the way they look they just they do it for me now for sizing youâre generally looking anywhere from 15 to 18in wheels that are at a minimum 10 in wide but as my old man told me a 12-in wide tire is where boys become men just keep in mind clearances it is really easy to put on a 12-in wide wheel on your base C5 because they technically do fit but they rub in every possible way they even poke out quite a bit and next thing you know the fiberglass on your rear quarter panel is cracked from hitting a pothole at 80 Mi an hour if wheel fitments confuse you youâre not alone we have a bunch of Wheel fitment videos that cover all sorts of platforms that can help so make sure you check out some of our older videos If youâre looking to learn more about that but if you guys want to keep learning and seeing us compare different car parts make sure you guys hit subscribe and while youâre at it smash the like button also follow us on Instagram our boy Shane makes a ton of build content on a daily basis to get your build started and if that isnât enough and youâre looking to go deeper make sure youâre jumping into Old forums and Facebook groups a good form can be a gold mine of information they are full of people whoâve either done it all on that specific platform or are currently going through and are just sharing what theyâve been doing with their car just buy or beware if and when you go to ask a dumb question cuz we all have dumb questions do yourself a favor and use the search bar first every form has a Search tool and every Facebook group has a Search tool as well it is very likely that somebody has already made a post looking for information about putting a corset exhaust on a Corvette so use the search tool before you ask so letâs compare a few different wheel brands that are popular among the drag racing community and as always links are in the description below along with a little discount code if you guys want to save a few of those Pennies on checkout at vividracing.com each of the following Wheels come in a standard wheel as well as a bead loock option for the rear so if you like one of these styles of Wheels but you donât want the bead loock donât worry that wheel is definitely an option to purchase so first up is an affordable cast wheel option we have the racar 92 drag series these are great for someone who is getting into aftermarket wheels but doesnât want to break the bank these wheels technically retail for around $400 a piece but they are more often than not on sale for about $280 to $300 depending on the size of wheel out the door for a full set of these wheels you can expect to be around $1,200 they are a simple but classic five-spoke design that work on nearly any platform they pretty much always look good they make finding the correct fitment for whatever car you have a breeze their data catalog is huge now the biggest thing you want to be aware of with these rayar wheels is that you will need to use a shank style lug nut this is a trend in pretty much every drag pack that Iâve seen so far you are more likely than not going to need to get some shank style lug nuts if Iâm honest the only real negative about these wheels is that they are cast wheel which isnât inherently a bad thing but lightweight and durable and strong is the goal you certainly can go lighter and you most definitely can go a lot stronger but hey if this is what you can afford there is nothing wrong with that these are a great wheel to get the party started theyâre not the fanciest thing in the world but they definitely work next up is where you get a bit more value but it does come with some extra cost the following three sets of Wheels here are flow forged meaning they are a combination of cast and forged wheel technology first up we have two offerings from weld we have the Laguna s17 which is a super clean design that I actually absolutely love this would absolutely be my top pick outside of going for like a super clean forged wheel setup now these retail for around $350 a piece all in all you can expect to be around $1,500 for a full set next we have the well Ventura s104 now in my eyes these are a direct upgrade from the RAR 92s thatâs simply because theyâre both of simple five-spoke design the Ventura s104 definitely has a little bit more premium look to it out the door a set of four of these wheels will cost around $16 to $1,700 once again based off of the size of the wheels youâre looking for and for our last flow forged wheel we have the forar D5 just another classic simple look you generally can find these wheels from $4 to $500 a piece out the door youâre looking at about $2,000 for a full set of these wheels now like I said these three sets of wheels are flow Forge aluminum so theyâre going to be stronger and slightly lighter than a cast wheel like the RAR 92s but obviously they do cost a little bit more but I would argue that this little bit of extra cost is worth it in the long run flow forged wheels are probably where you get the most bang for your buck compared to anything else that weâve talked about plus thereâs a reason you see forg star and weld wheels everywhere in the drag racing Community theyâre just a really good wheel but just like anything in life doesnât matter how good something is something better will always come along that leads us to the top of our list the forged forg line cf1 RS these are a lightweight super strong forged aluminum wheels they come in at a spicy $1,500 a piece these are about as high quality as I guess some fitments are readily available but realistically these wheels are made to order with full customization this is the type of wheel you put on a 2,000 horsepower car thatâs running deep into the sevens or even in the sixes in the quarter mile but if you want to fleux on your buddies at cars and coffee and be future proof for all the horsepower and tourque you could ever dream of this is your wheel one day when I can essentially double the value of my car by throwing a set of these on it rest assured I will absolutely make the poor life choice without hesitation if you havenât mathed it up already a set of these wheels will run you about $6,000 and thatâs if you donât do any customization to them and for that price why not just go a little bit deeper and add a little on to get the perfect fit and finish so there it is that is drag pack 101 plus a few buying options to get the part already started now I really didnât include any Tire fitment in this video because thatâs its own realm of black magic and Wizardry so weâre going to cover that in an upcoming video so make sure you hit that notification Bell to know when itâs posted if you guys enjoyed todayâs video definitely let us know in the comments but what helps us even more is if you guys use the links in the description below but thatâs all Iâve got for you guys today thank you guys so much weâll see you guys next time peace oh [Music]

Customer Spotlight: Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Rocking A Set Of Forgestar M14 Wheels
The Chevrolet Corvette shows the excellence behind the engineers at Chevy. Featuring subtle nuances of previous racing heritage, the C6 Corvette offers incredible performance. Although the base model C6 was quite the excitement, many owners sought after more power as that is the tendency of an automotive enthusiast.
Releasing the Z06 with nearly 100 more horsepower than base through the LS7 7.0L V8 and the performance-tuned suspension was a milestone accomplishment for Chevy. Enthusiasts went crazy as the Z06 was the perfect platform to start modifying with 505HP from the factory. Being quick, many owners realized they needed more grip on pavement, especially after modifying.

Our customer chose to go with a set of Forgestar M14 to deliver all the power to the ground. Using 19Ă12 +44mm in the front and 19Ă13.5 +35mm for the rear allows for a meaty tire setup. The offset clears the wheel wells and fenders providing an aggressive stance all around while permitting larger tires.
Forgestar M14 modular mesh wheels use a process known as Flow Forming. This procedure not only forges the wheel but also creates an ultra-strong construction to withstand intense amounts of force. Tested to meet high standards ensures each wheel can handle track racing, drag, or regular street use.

Customer Spotlight: Widebody S197 Mustang on Forgestar

We all know the Ford Mustang is one of the most popular performance cars of all time; from drifting, drag racing, road racing, and more, the Mustang can do it all. In the world of âshowâ cars, widebody kits have become popular over the last five years. One challenge youâll face after installing a widebody kit is finding the correct fitment wheels that look good. The easiest solution to this problem is ordering custom multi-piece wheels which allows you to have the perfect fitment for your vehicle.
In the case of our customer, Tommy, Forgestar M14 wheels were a perfect choice. These wheels use a modular construction which allows for a much wider range of sizes. Up front, this Mustang uses 18Ă10.5 +15mm fitment. In the rear, it uses 18Ă12 +1mm fitment. On a standard Mustang, a fitment this aggressive wouldnât even be close to fitting, but thanks to the awesome widebody kit, the wheels fit perfectly.
If you have questions about M14 Forgestar wheels, please contact us. You can reach us by phone at 1-480-966-3040 or via email at [email protected].
