Nice! Oh! What if Ford had crashed somewhere else and had some severe injury but also a really bad case of memory loss. A bit like Castiel in season 7 of Supernatural. Someone founds him, takes him to a hospital and once he is out, they help him try to found himself. Maybe since, he doesn’t remember anything, they give him a new name

​That's exactly what I was thinking! Ford survived, but was dropped outta the sky by the tornado and wound up with severe amnesia, not remembering anything about himself, not even his name.

And that's why Stan, despite searching desperately, is unable to find Ford. Until, years down the line, they randomly cross paths in whatever town Ford wound up living in. Stan immediately recognizes Ford, and Ford immediately realizes this man looks just like him, and gets excited that he might be a potential relative who can tell him about his true identity.
