anyway, for the ask game: coconuts & lychees?
✦ paimon from @wishis!
Thankyou so much for the ask Paimon!!!! (≧∇≦)ノ And thanks for making the ask game as well it's very fun!!
Coconuts ✦ What's your "type" in terms of fictional characters? What character trait(s) are you most drawn to?
When I realized I was Asexual I was very "I don't have a type" about romance, self shipping included, and while I still stand by that because to me my F/O list looks like it's kind of all over the place... I have submitted to the fact that a man simply has to be Pathetic and Cringe for me to like him. Koro-Sensei instilled that type in me,
Other than that I'm not sure, someone else would have to tell me, I'm not good at picking up "types" between characters, they're all so unique to me I can't see their tropes kfjgkfg
Lychees ✦ Do you use self-shipping to explore dynamics that you otherwise wouldn't in real life? What dynamics? Do you use self-shipping to imagine things you do want to experience in real life?
Yes to both, but obviously different dynamics krgjdfjgkdfdkg
For what I do want in real life, it's mostly Polycule dynamics. A good, communicative group of a couple. Me, my partner, their partner, our collective shared partner, the Queerplatonic, my other partner, our friend who isn't dating anyone but is hanging out, and the person we're all desperately trying to swoon.
I know a Big Polycule isn't the most realistic thing in the world, but it's my personal dream to have a polycule of 4 or more people interchangeably dating living together. I like imaging that life in Self Shipping a lot, with grey areas between Romantic and Platonic sense that's where I naturally fall, and solid communication of feelings and wants/needs expressed.
As for stuff I wouldn't want in real life, it almost falls in the same category? I adore Grey love, this middle space between Familial, Romantic, and Platonic. Between just a little over protective and completely obsessive. Between overbearing affections and devoted co-dependence. The space just before we hit a breaking point and cross the line into forbidden
A caretaker who loves their child the wrong way, a friend who never wants to let go of your hand, a teach who shows favoritism to a certain student or a sibling who just wants to spend a bit more time together.
Supposedly there's a Right and Wrong way to love someone, a clear cut line between the types of Love in the world
I like to blur that line while self shipping.
