#bad at love#gabriela martins#aroaessidhe 2023 reads#very short and fast and easy to read but is lacking a depth in the overall narrative. kinda skips over belivability for Why they're doing i#and the end is so fast and overdramatic while barely sitting in the complexities of the actual events#her lie was way worse than his goddamn. even if she didn't know what was going on with him#his demisexuality is fine; it’s mentioned a few times and I appreciate that it's something he's already figured out and identifies as#as even though he's never really had a relationship#think the thing I enjoyed most was the aspects of Daniel's experience as a Brazilian in the US#and his insecurities about joining the band who're already friends and the development there.#Plus conversations around their cultures and being white-brazillian in the US vs being seen as the US-centric id of 'PoC'#I wish there could have been a bit more of both of those things#For me; short-and-sweet YA romances work best when the stakes are lower so that things can be explored more in the short pagecount.#and obviously take this with a grain of salt i'm not the intended audience etc etc#demisexual books
