National Bat Appreciation Day reminds us of the very important roles bats play in our daily lives, without them we would no longer have many of our favorite food or drinks such as chocolate, fruits or my personal favorite (tequila 😋). More importantly though, without bats the price of food would increase, ecosystems wouldn’t have enough water to support life in dryer climates and more toxic pesticides would be needed to control insect populations, releasing more chemicals into the environment resulting in untold environmental and health impacts. This day also reminds us to acknowledge the very important people that work tirelessly to save my favorite sweet spooky little creatures of the night. Thank you to my beautiful friend Steph at @pabatrescue who dedicates her heart, her soul and every waking minute into rescuing, rehabilitating, educating and so much more.
