The Bergman's bear of Russian folklore: . Reports of a giant bear of Kamchatka, a "God Bear" in Russian folk traditions, have circulated for centuries. In recent years, indeed, some scientific evidence has emerged to validate reports of a cryptid known as Bergman's bear. In 1920 the Swedish zoologist Sten Bergman examined the skin of a giant, black furred variety of the Kamchatka bear. Bergman wrote that the pelt "far surpassed" the size of any bearskin he had seen. Most notably, the black bears pelt was shorthaired, unlike the long coat of the normal Kamchatka bear. Bergman's 1936 paper also described a huge paw print, 15 inches by by 10.5 inches and a report of an equally outsized skull. This giant cryptid animal may well be extinct. On the other hand, it may not be. In a book called 'Bears of the world', writer Terry Domico observes that much of the Kamchatka peninsula has long been closed off for suspicious military reasons. A former Soviet official who did have access to the area told Domico that the black giants were still reported. What do you think of this cryptid? Edinburgh's Beltane Fire Festival

The festival of Beltane is here and marks the peak of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. Beltane is an ancient fire festival, with the word bel-tene meaning a 'goodly fire'.

Fire is associated with transformation, cleansing and purification, burning the old down to make way and fertilise the new.

At Beltane, Spring has reached its peak and Summer begins to emerge with a more direct and committed energy. The Beltane Fire Festival is something we've wanted to experience in Edinburgh for a long time and this time we were finally here for it!

Based on an ancient Iron Age Celtic Ritual and taking place every year on the evening before the 1st of May, hundreds gather together to celebrate the return of summer - casting off darkness and celebrating the light.

The Beltane Fire Festival retells the traditional stories of The May Queen, and The Death and Rebirth of The Green Man, set amongst fire-play, acrobatics, drummers, dancers, musicians, witches, actors, a cavalcade of curious and larger-than-life characters, and even a little... Kaos!

Established in Edinburgh by the Beltane Fire Society - a community that brings people from all over the world together for the largest Celtic festival of its kind!

The word translates as bright fire and it's safe to say there's plenty of fire on show at this festival including a huge bonfire at midnight.

The procession takes place on Calton Hill and is ticketed so one to save for next year if you want to experience this sacred festival.

Lessons of Dandelions

And that's what they do - they derail your self-worth on purpose so that all your many accomplishments become overshadowed by the idea that you're a nuisance to their perfect order.

They mark your resilience as irritating.

Your adaptability and persistence as annoying. They cut your voice at the stem and demand your silence. Pump you full of poisonous chemicals. Erase your story and what it took you to get here.

Dandelions are the plant of the Witches, and hardly anyone remembers.

They are the plant of the Women - all women - who have ever had to fight their corner just to exist. Who are chased and harmed for simply being. Who are ripped out by the roots for daring to shine brightly or laugh loudly.

Who others see their shine and dump concrete ontop of them to try and ruin their worth.

But we are powerhouses of medicine, my friends. We will form cracks in your concrete lines and tear through your conditioning.

The Clan Keeper

The matriarch in the totem pole;

Gave her knowledge freely.

So that her offspring would know;

From seeds she planted by the family tree.
