It is the temperature at which human cells start to cook, animals suffer and air conditioners overload power grids. Once an urban anomaly, 50C is fast becoming reality 

Imagine a city at 50C (122F). The pavements are empty, the parks quiet, entire neighbourhoods appear uninhabited. Nobody with a choice ventures outside during daylight hours. Only at night do the denizens emerge, HG Wells-style, into the streets – though, in temperatures that high, even darkness no longer provides relief. Uncooled air is treated like effluent: to be flushed as quickly as possible.

School playgrounds are silent as pupils shelter inside. In the hottest hours of the day, working outdoors is banned. The only people in sight are those who do not have access to air conditioning, who have no escape from the blanket of heat: the poor, the homeless, undocumented labourers. Society is divided into the cool haves and the hot have-nots.

Those without the option of sheltering indoors can rely only on shade, or perhaps a water-soaked sheet hung in front of a fan. Construction workers, motor-rickshaw drivers and street hawkers cover up head to toe to stay cool. The wealthy, meanwhile, go from one climate-conditioned environment to another: homes, cars, offices, gymnasiums, malls.

Asphalt heats up 10-20C higher than the air. You really could fry an egg on the pavement. A dog’s paws would blister on a short walk, so pets are kept behind closed doors. There are fewer animals overall; many species of mammals and birds have migrated to cooler environments, perhaps at a higher altitude – or perished. Reptiles, unable to regulate their body temperatures or dramatically expand their range, are worst placed to adapt. Even insects suffer.

Maybe in the beginning, when it was just a hot spell, there was a boom in spending as delighted consumers snapped up sunglasses, bathing suits, BBQs, garden furniture and beer. But the novelty quickly faded when relentless sunshine became the norm. Consumers became more selective. Power grids are overloaded by cooling units. The heat is now a problem.

The temperature is recalibrating behaviour. Appetites tend to fade as the body avoids the thermal effect of food and tempers are quicker to flare – along, perhaps, with crime and social unrest. But eventually lethargy sets in as the body shuts down and any prolonged period spent outdoors becomes dangerous.

Hospitals see a surge in admissions for heat stress, respiratory problems and other illnesses exacerbated by high temperatures. Some set up specialist wards. The elderly, the obese and the sick are most at risk. Deaths rise.

At 50C – halfway to water’s boiling point and more than 10C above a healthy body temperature – heat becomes toxic. Human cells start to cook, blood thickens, muscles lock around the lungs and the brain is choked of oxygen. In dry conditions, sweat – the body’s in-built cooling system – can lessen the impact. But this protection weakens if there is already moisture in the air.

A so-called “wet-bulb temperature” (which factors in humidity) of just 35C can be fatal after a few hours to even the fittest person, and scientists warn climate change will make such conditions increasingly common in India, Pakistan, south-east Asia and parts of China. Even under the most optimistic predictions for emissions reductions, experts say almost half the world’s population will be exposed to potentially deadly heat for 20 days a year by 2100.

Not long ago, 50C was considered an anomaly, but it is increasingly widespread. Earlier this year, the 1.1 million residents of Nawabshah, Pakistan, endured the hottest April ever recorded on Earth, as temperatures hit 50.2C. In neighbouring India two years earlier, the town of Phalodi sweltered in 51C – the country’s hottest ever day.

Dev Niyogi, professor at Purdue University, Indiana, and chair of the Urban Environment department at the American Meteorological Society, witnessed how cities were affected by extreme heat on a research trip to New Delhi and Pune during that 2015 heatwave in India, which killed more than 2,000 people.

“You could see the physical change. Road surfaces started to melt, neighbourhoods went quiet because people didn’t go out and water vapour rose off the ground like a desert mirage,” he recalls.

“We must hope that we don’t see 50C. That would be uncharted territory. Infrastructure would be crippled and ecosystem services would start to break down, with long-term consequences.”

Several cities in the Gulf are getting increasingly accustomed to such heat. Basra – population 2.1 million – registered 53.9C two years ago. Kuwait City and Doha have experienced 50C or more in the past decade. At Quriyat, on the coast of Oman, overnight temperatures earlier this summer remained above 42.6C, which is believed to be the highest “low” temperature ever recorded in the world.

At Mecca, the two million hajj pilgrims who visit each year need ever more sophisticated support to beat the heat. On current trends, it is only a matter of time before temperatures exceed the record 51.3C reached in 2012. Last year, traditionalists were irked by plans to install what are reportedly the world’s biggest retractable umbrellas to provide shade on the courtyards and roof of the Great Mosque. Air conditioners weighing 25 tonnes have been brought in to ventilate four of the biggest tents. Thousands of fans already cool the marble floors and carpets, while police on horseback spray the crowds with water.

Football supporters probably cannot expect such treatment at the Qatar World Cup in 2022, and many may add to the risks of hyperthermia and dehydration by taking off their shirts and drinking alcohol. Fifa is so concerned about conditions that it has moved the final from summer to a week before Christmas. Heat is also why Japanese politicians are now debating whether to introduce daylight saving time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics so that marathon and racewalk athletes can start at what is currently 5am and avoid mid-afternoon temperatures that recently started to pass 40C with humidity of more than 80%.

At the Australian open in Melbourne this year – when ambient temperatures reached 40C – players were staggering around like “punch-drunk boxers” due to heatstroke. Even walking outside can feel oppressive at higher temperatures. “The blast of furnace-like heat ... literally feels life-threatening and apocalyptic,” says Nigel Tapper, professor of environmental science at Melbourne’s Monash University, of the 48C recorded in parts of the city. “You cannot move outside for more than a few minutes.”

The feeling of foreboding is amplified by the increased threat of bush and forest fires, he adds. “You cannot help but ask, ‘How can this city operate under these conditions? What can we do to ensure that the city continues to provide important services for these conditions? What can we do to reduce temperatures in the city?’           

Those places already struggling with extreme heat are doing what they can. In Ahmedabad, in Gujarat, hospitals have opened specialist heat wards. Australian cities have made swimming pools accessible to the homeless when the heat creeps above 40C, and instructed schools to cancel playground time. In Kuwait, outside work is forbidden between noon and 4pm when temperatures soar.

But many regulations are ignored, and companies and individuals underestimate the risks. In almost all countries, hospital admissions and death rates tend to rise when temperatures pass 35C – which is happening more often, in more places. Currently, 354 major cities experience average summer temperatures in excess of 35C; by 2050, climate change will push this to 970, according to the recent “Future We Don’t Want” study by the C40 alliance of the world’s biggest metropolises. In the same period, it predicts the number of urban dwellers exposed to this level of extreme heat will increase eightfold, to 1.6 billion.

As baselines shift across the globe, 50C is also uncomfortably near for tens of millions more people. This year, Chino, 50km (30 miles) from Los Angeles, hit a record of 48.9C, Sydney saw 47C, and Madrid and Lisbon also experienced temperatures in the mid-40s. New studies suggest France “could easily exceed” 50C by the end of the century while Australian cities are forecast to reach this point even earlier. Kuwait, meanwhile, could sizzle towards an uninhabitable 60C.

How to cool dense populations is now high on the political and academic agenda, says Niyogi, who last week co-chaired an urban climate symposium in New York. Cities can be modified to deplete heat through measures to conserve water, create shade and deflect heat. In many places around the world, these steps are already under way.                        

The city at 50C could be more tolerable with lush green spaces on and around buildings; towers with smart shades that follow the movement of the sun; roofs and pavements painted with high-albedo surfaces; fog capture and renewable energy fields to provide cooling power without adding to the greenhouse effect.

But with extremes creeping up faster than baselines, Niyogi says this adapting will require changes not just to the design of cities, but how they are organised and how we live in them. First, though, we have to see what is coming – which might not hit with the fury of a flood or typhoon but can be even more destructive.

“Heat is different,” says Niyogi. “You don’t see the temperature creep up to 50C. It can take people unawares.”

US seizes on tanker attacks to up the stakes with Iran

Just over 12 hours after reports broke in slumbering Washington about the new crisis, Pompeo appeared in the State Department Briefing Room to significantly raise the stakes.

“It is the assessment of the United States government that the Islamic Republic of Iran is responsible for the attacks that occurred in the Gulf of Oman today,” Pompeo said.

He cited intelligence, weapons used, the required expertise and sophistication of the assault and previous attacks to conclude it was the latest assault by Iran on “freedom-loving nations.”

Pompeo offered no evidence for his accusations. He did not allow questions so journalists could challenge his assertions. And his decision not to allow a few days to elapse for a full investigation left no doubt about US intentions.

He left the room after warning the “United States will defend its forces, interests, and stand with our partners and allies to safeguard global commerce and regional stability.”

Later on Thursday night, US Central Command released a video that it claims shows a smaller Iranian boat sailing up next to the tanker to remove an unexploded mine. An individual stands up on the bow of the boat and can be seen removing an object from the tanker’s hull. The US says that object is likely an unexploded mine.

Pompeo’s approach will do nothing to quell anxiety that the United States and Iran are locked into an inexorable cycle of escalation that could trigger a disastrous war.

And after placing the prestige of the Trump administration on the line, he left open the question of Washington’s next steps in dealing with a crisis that caused an immediate spike in oil prices and has few obvious off ramps.

US piling pressure on Iran

Thursday’s drama in which two ships were left ablaze forcing their crews to abandon their posts, was not an isolated incident. It’s a product of rising tensions that Trump administration critics see as the logical result of a hardline approach heralded when the President pulled out of the international nuclear deal concluded by the Obama White House.

Washington insists its new strategy of economic and political pressure on Iran is aimed at driving the Islamic Republic back to the negotiating table. But many US allies fear it is more likely to lead to a military confrontation.

Apart from Pompeo’s swift warning to Iran over the attacks and the CENTCOM video, there has not yet been any independent international assessment that blames Iran or its proxies for the attacks — though suspicion is hanging heavy on the Islamic Republic.

The Trump administration’s documented recor d of perpetrating falsehoods means it inevitably faces a higher bar for its statements on an issue as critical as Iran. Memories are also still fresh of botched intelligence that led the US into war with Iraq.

There are no signs so far that Washington is preparing a military response to the tanker attacks. It is more likely to use them to bolster its case for Iranian malfeasance.

But it has the option to increase naval patrols in the area. Trump has already rushed an aircraft carrier strike force to the region and is deploying 1,500 troops and a Patriot missile system to meet Iran’s perceived threat.

The US also called a UN Security Council meeting on the tanker strikes on Thursday but did not present any evidence to back up Pompeo’s remarks.

Uncertainty about what is next is also being fueled by indications that Trump is not on the same page as senior members of his national security team on Iran.

The President, loath to get pulled into foreign misadventures, is seen as far less hawkish on the issue than Pompeo and national security adviser John Bolton.

Shortly after Pompeo spelled out his stern-faced warning, which Trump tweeted out, the President was still holding out the hope of eventual talks with Iran.

“I personally feel that it is too soon to even think about making a deal. They are not ready, and neither are we!” T rump tweeted.

Iran will never be ready, if remarks carried by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s Twitter feed on Thursday are any indication.

“I don’t consider Trump as a person deserving to exchange messages with; I have no response for him & will not answer him,” Khamenei wrote.

Fog of war hangs over tanker attacks

The question of who is behind Thursday’s attacks may not be quite as clear cut elsewhere as it is in Washington.

The fog of war in the region, with its bitter rivalries, opaque motivations and boiling tensions means that there are a number of conceivable explanations for the strike.

If Iran was involved, it might have been sending a pointed message to the US that it has the capacity to hold the world economy to ransom by attacking shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

One of the ships involved was a Japanese tanker, in an embarrassment to one of Trump’s closest allies, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe who was in Tehran hoping to broker an easing of tensions.

One way of looking at the targeting of a Japanese tanker would be to conclude that someone wants to send Trump a message that his vows to protect US allies are empty.

But if Iran hoped to use Abe’s visit to convince Japan to resume buying its oil despite US pressure it would not make much sense for the government to order an attack on a Japanese owned ship.

But decision making in Iran is not monolithic. Even if Iranian forces or proxies were to blame, the action may not have been ordered by political leaders in Tehran, who are locked in a constant power struggle with the ruling clerics.

And Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps has in some cases the autonomy to act outside the auspices of the country’s religious or political authorities.

The Middle East’s thriving conspiracy theory industry also means there are alternative rationales for the attacks. Might an Iranian foe like Saudi Arabia, keen for a US-Iranian confrontation, not have an interest in staging such an attack to reflect badly on Tehran?

“Reported attacks on Japan-related tankers occurred while PM @AbeShinzo was meeting with Ayatollah @khamenei-ir for extensive and friendly talks,” Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif tweeted on Thursday.

“Suspicious doesn’t begin to describe what likely transpired this morning.”

The tanker attacks came a month after the previous peak in recent tensions, after four commercial ships were attacked in the Gulf, Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen attacked a Saudi pipeline and they US pulled non-essential staff from its embassy in Baghdad — a potential target for pro-Iran militias in Iraq.

The fact that this attack was more sophisticated and expansive than the previous one is sobering. And will fuel concerns that the US and Iran are on track to recreate the proxy warfare in the Gulf of the 1980s that several times spilled out of control.

I’m Melbourne born-and-raised, though I spent much of my childhood at our family house in the High Country. I initially studied graphic design at Swinburne University before following my passion in photography to the Photography Studies College. I had the wonderful opportunity to assist photographer Sharyn Cairns for a few years, which has propelled me into the industry, and I haven’t looked back!

I’m still Melbourne-based, however I love any opportunity to shoot interstate and overseas. A few of my favourites places over the past few years have been a travel feature in Tasmania, Oman, and today’s feature: on the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

I first travelled to Spain in 2007 on a year-long backpacking trip, which also took me through Africa (South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia), Portugal, Spain, London and Canada. With camera-in-hand, I was young and free and ready for an adventure. I found just that.

I fell in love with Granada and the Southern coast of Spain, and had always wanted to return… This desire was strengthened by the many wonderful things I had heard about the Camino de Santiago. When my close friend Holly and I decided on an active holiday, it was the top of our list!

Although this walk originated as a religious pilgrimage, people take it for many reasons. You definitely don’t have to be religious! It’s an incredibly rewarding way to see the area.

For me, the biggest challenge were some body ailments. I had sore feet, leg cramps, and a slightly dodgy hip (I always knew this would be the case as it’s constantly something I work on at home). Then, there was the lugging of my heavy camera gear, which I couldn’t go without! I chose to only take one lens (24-70mm) and one camera body, and most days I would carry it in my arms the entire time. As I was on foot, it was harder to ‘chase the light’ as you can with a car, however shooting was a lovely way to take in the smaller details along the way. Looking back, it’s all just about good training, management and shoes! I will do more prep next time.

One of the most rewarding aspects was to be able to spend my entire day walking. It’s an active meditation and I often find that my biggest ideas and realisations come about when I walk. Another highlight came at the very end of the trip – I got engaged the day after returning home to Australia (I think I’d get in trouble if I left that detail out!).

It really is a special mix of people that find themselves walking hundreds of kilometres across a country, with locals there to guide them on their journeys. We were humbled daily by the kindness of strangers – directing us back on course, picking us bags of peaches, tending to our sunburn and blisters, buying us local dishes they think that we would like, or sitting with us to go through a Spanish menu when we were struggling to read it!

OUR ITINERARY

There are many different routes that lead the way to Santiago de Compostela. The most famous is the one that begins in the French Pyrenees and takes around 35 days to complete. As we didn’t have that much time, we decided to walk part of the Portuguese Camino from Baiona on the Western coast of Spain, following the coastline to Santiago de Compostela.

Day 1&2 – Seafood by the sea!

We arrived into Baiona a town situated on the coast of the Monterreal Peninsula which leads out into the Atlantic Ocean.

Our taxi wound its way through the city, underneath a fortressed wall and up to the Parador de Baiona, a beautiful Galician manor.

We spent two days here wandering through the old town, eating seafood by the water, drinking wine and watching the boats sail out to sea.

Day 3 – Baiona to Vigo (26km)

We trekked out of Baiona sharply climbing in altitude along busy roads en route to Vigo. We rose high above the Atlantic mist below, which had settled in for the morning.

It was a shock to the system, as the first leg of any long walk is, and I’m sure the wine in Baiona didn’t help. Getting a little lost we finally found the iconic shell markings along the road that lead you all the way to Santiago de Compostela – It’s like an adult treasure hunt!

As you follow the Camino shells, you wind high above small towns and then through back streets, passing many albergues (guest houses), local restaurants and cafes.

After 25kms, we found our way to Vigo, a bustling city surrounded by a lush mountain landscape. We were weary and very sore, but managed to find a town square that came alive with restaurants, bars and children, playing late into the night.

Day 4 – Vigo to Redondela (20km*)

This day was around 20km’s, not including the many times we got lost! But this was when the true Spanish hospitality shone, with locals gently guiding us wayward travellers back on to the track and on our way. It was a very humbling experience!

Day 5 – Redondela to Pontevedra (22km)

By day 5 we were in our walking groove. We headed off in an early convoy of trekkers back into the mountain tracks, with views of the Monterreal Peninsula still peeking through the trees to our left.

We arrived into Pontevedra, a labyrinth of small cobbled stoned streets that opened up into large Piazza’s ready to be filled with the night’s activities. We were not disappointed and again the Spanish hospitality and very loud ‘Salute’s’ were on show.

Day 6 – Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis (25km)

The trail followed the highway dipping in and out of local vineyards, all of which had an abundance of grapes and made for a sneaky snack!

Reaching our destination, we treated ourselves to a beautiful hotel a short taxi ride out of Caldas de Reis. Torre do Rio’s gates opened and we walked into what was once an 18th-century-textile-factory-turned-boutique-accommodation positioned on top of a hill surrounded by sprawling gardens and a cascading waterfall. It took my breath away.

Day 7 – Caldas de Reis to Padron (23km)

It was hard to leave Torre do Rio, especially after eating our way through the breakfast buffet.

Back on the road, we soon caught up with a familiar walker wearing socks and thongs – it’s hilarious the footwear some people end up wearing after days/weeks of walking!

Day 8 – Padron to Santiago de Compostela (30km)

Padron is a small and eerie town that we were happy to leave. We slept next to an open chapel, which gave us both nightmares!

This was the hardest yet most rewarding day of the walk. Most of the morning we paced through low-lying fog, cobbled stone roads, past numbers dogs, churches, and cornfields. After stopping for an early morning espresso we powered onto Santiago.

We walked into Santiago de Compostela to the large cathedral square, which was a buzz of energy and excitement. A melting pot of walkers from all around the world were there – some who had walked for months! It was a surprisingly emotional finale to a short section of the Camino. I can only imagine how the others who had been on the road for weeks were feeling.

We sat down in a small and quiet chapel to rest our feet and reflect on our short but inspiring walk. A quote on the wall read ‘Blessed are you pilgrim, if on the way you meet yourself and gift yourself with time, without rushing, so as not to disregard the image in your heart’.

In our busy lives, it’s very hard to truly gift ourselves time to stop, slow down and move with the natural rhythm of life. This experience gifted me that time and I can’t wait to go back for a longer walk next time.

Must-see location

The hotel Torre do Rio, in Caldas de Reis is worth a trip back to Spain. I definitely plan on returning one day!

Must-try local delicacy

The Galician region of Spain is renowned for its fresh seafood. Located right on the Atlantic Ocean the freshest of seafood doesn’t have far to travel and it did not disappoint! We were treated to the freshest oysters, calamari, mussels, fish, and beautiful local wine!

…pack very light if you are planning on carrying all your belongings!

If you really can’t, there is always the option to get a taxi to deliver your bags to the next town.

Why Imax CEO Richard Gelfond isn’t worried about Netflix and the streaming revolution

Richard Gelfond, the chief executive at Imax Corp., likes to say “eventicize.”

It is not a word. But he believes his massive movie screens — 1,505 of them in 80 countries — can “eventicize” movies, make them premium, something that cannot be replicated at home. And that is why, as cinemas face off with the streaming services, Gelfond is not worried about his business.

“No matter how big your TV set or how good your sound system, it’s not Imax,” he said, awaiting an egg white omelette at the Four Seasons in Toronto on Wednesday.

Lately, whenever Gelfond speaks publicly, people want to know where he stands on Netflix. The streaming service is making major investments in feature films, but has largely avoided screening them in theatres because of an ongoing disagreement with cinemas. Imax could act as a bridge between Netflix and traditional theatres, using its sound and screen technology to do justice to Netflix’s select big-budget productions, but Gelfond is reluctant.

“If they respect the windows, we’d like to work with them,” Gelfond said. The problem is that Netflix has historically not respected windows — cinema speak for the amount of time new releases are shown in a theatre. Usually, it’s three months. But Netflix, Gelfond said, wants to show exclusively in theatres for two or three weeks before putting their films online. And if theatres allow Netflix a small window, the fear is that Hollywood studios will start demanding the same.

“And a lot of the economics upon which theatres are built would start to chip away,” he said. “If a movie is in a theatre for three months, if you want to see the movie you’re going to go to a theatre to see it. If it’s in a theatre for three weeks, then they’re worried people will just wait and watch it at home.”

Gelfond, personally, doesn’t worry much about windows, since Imax only shows blockbusters for their first and second weeks, anyway. But he depends on theatres too much to risk upending their operating model.

Imax itself doesn’t own theatres. Gelfond gets frustrated by this misconception, which he said is common, particularly among the investor set. But Imax is “a different animal.”

It licenses its projection in sound technology to theatres, while working with film producers to use high-resolution Imax cameras or remaster footage shot on other cameras. In exchange, Imax takes a cut of the box office sales. The arrangements vary by theatre and by region, but broadly speaking, Imax usually offers two options: It sells its technology to the theatre and takes a smaller share of ticket sales; or it provides the equipment up front at no cost and takes a bigger portion of sales. Either way, Gelfond said, Imax sees about 20 per cent of ticket sales on average.

In the twenty-five years since Gelfond bought Imax — then a Canadian company started by Canadian filmmakers that showed documentaries and nature films in cinespheres, museums and science centres — it has become a global entertainment brand with screenings that grossed more than $1 billion in 2018. This month, the company saw its fifth-highest grossing film, Captain Marvel, which brought in $36 million in Imax screenings during its opening weekend.

Imax’s major expansion in China has seen the company ramping up its partnership with Chinese productions rather than just offering its slate of Hollywood blockbusters. Earlier this year, the Chinese film, The Wandering Earth, grossed $45 million in Imax screenings.

Still, Gelfond said, Imax gets lumped in with North American theatre chains.

“If it’s a bad weekend for movies in the U.S., our stock will go down,” he said, adding that 70 per cent of revenues come outside North America.

“We’re in a lot of crazy places. We’re in Pakistan. We’re in Oman. We have a big presence in Russia.”

The All New Innova is a Mean Machine!

Toyota is known for its world class, high performance vehicles, capable of running smoothly on all kinds of terrains. The company has recently introduced an upgraded version of its highly popular MPV family vehicle, Innova. This five door minivan is part of Toyota’s IMV program, along with the Hilux pickup truck and the Fortuner SUV, and is manufactured in Indonesia.

Innova History

Being manufactured since 2004, the Innova is sold across India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, Jamaica and Thailand, and is also available in Brunei, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Oman, Kuwait and the UAE. The name "Innova" comes from the English word, innovation.

Currently sold across several countries is the second generation Innova, the AN140 series. This new series is a completely new vehicle with a new platform and new diesel engines. The minivan is now available in 2 and 2.7 litre petrol engines and also 2.4 and 2.8 litre diesel engines. The available transmission options are five-speed manual and six-speed automatic. The AN140 is produced in Indonesia, as well as in other locations.

The New Innova and its Variants in Saudi Arabia

Based on the Japanese company’s new TNGA or Toyota New Global Architecture platform, the new Innova comes with eight seats, great flexibility and superior performance. The new platform is apparently lighter and stiffer, as compared to its earlier platforms, and has also been used in the new Fortuner engine.

Being offered in two variants in Saudi Arabia, Standard and XL, the new series is equipped with a 2.7 litre four cylinder engine capable of producing 164bhp of power and 245Nm torque. Offered with six speed automatic transmission, all models come with a rear seat slide mechanism to improve legroom.

The XL variant comes with steering wheel mounted audio controls, which the standard version does not have. The new Innova comes with an advanced music system with six speakers, Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity, along with CD player and AM/FM radios.

The standard model comes with manual air conditioning and rear blower control, the XL variant is equipped with an automatic climate control system. Standard features of the two variants include power windows, keyless entry, central locking, multi-information display, fabric seats, fake wood trim, 16-inch steel wheels, fog lamps, airbags for driver and front passenger, and ABS brakes.

Measuring in at 4.74m, 1.83m and 1.79m in length, width, and height, respectively, this new offering from Toyota is a highly practical and useful vehicle for moving around in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
