I played along, but I truly wish I could have interacted more with this book club because this is one of my top ten favorite choices stories. Anyway, have a Flynn from Cian’s pov on their houseboat.

VoS Drabble - Flynn x Cian

A/N & Warnings: I just always imagined Flynn was never a morning person but Cian, being a rise before the sun kinda guy, gets him to get out of bed (sometimes) and join him on the deck to watch the sun paint the sky. Flynn complains (good-naturedly), slips on last night’s shirt - or even better, Cian’s shirt - and joins him on deck with coffee (lots of it. I just need this for them okay?!

The sky is dark shades of purple, red, and orange as the first rays of light make their way over the horizon. It was these colors that make clear what Homer meant when referencing the wine dark sea.

He can hear Flynn moving around below and he laughs to himself when he hears Flynn trip in the dark room with a curse.

He’s told him countless times, he doesn’t have to join him this early but Flynn always does if he wasn’t called out by the station. Not that Cian is complaining. It’s one of his favorite times of the day together.

The telltale clink of coffee cups announces Flynn’s arrival up the stairs. His grunt of good morning announces his arrival on the top deck.

Cian turns and smiles at him. “Did you bring enough coffee?” he teases as Flynn hands him a cup and pours his own from the thermos.

“Not nearly enough for this ungodly hour,” Flynn shoots back with a quirk of his lips.

Setting Sail for Tomorrow (and whatever comes next)

Calli and Flynn sail off into the sunset following the events of Veil of Secrets, starting the next chapter of their lives together in Birchport.

In honor of the finale of our VOS book club, I thought it was time to share this. I am absolutely in love with this art by the one and only ArtbyAinna (Instgram).

I'm going to post these HCs separate after the finale but here they are here as well...

After the book...

*Flynn takes over as lighthouse keeper and works to make the docks and ports a more fair place with those doing the work getting livable wages and credit for their hard work. Grant helps handle any lawsuits that need to be settled to help clean up everything at the docks.

*Calli moves to Birchport and works for their local paper. She also starts a private investigation agency (like her cousin Lilah Rose). Flynn helps when he can. Kate really wants to be a detective, but she has yet to master the art of being subtle. Naomi is Calli's main partner at her private investigation agency.

What songs do you associate with the general feel/theme of the game, with characters and MC/certain types of MC? Do you maybe have a playlist? Quite curious about this. Like for example for some reason I associate Imagine Dragons - Bones with MC (yeah I know a lot of people hate this band, but some of their song are decent). This song got a little bit of feeling of restlessness and one line fits well - 'walking the path so many paced a million times'. Or nothing is safe by clipping. for obvious reasons fits the general theme/Morozov family, especially the tragedy with Viktor and etc. Dunno will you agree, but nevertheless I'm curious to see your song association (no explanation needed if you don't want to)

Ooh, just heard the song and it's good! They might be a guilty-pleasure band, but I actually like quite a number of their songs, especially their older ones, the album that also contained Radioactive and Demons (I actually don't know the name of the album 😅). Somehow, I also get the vibe of Vengeful MC from the song.

Also, I'm glad you're interested in the music I associated with the world because I love associating songs I listen to characters and stuff! And because of that, this post might be a little long 😂

As for your question about playlists, yes! I do have those. Right now, I have ones for MC, Luka, and Ash (although Ash's is still Work-in-Progress). I'll add more songs into them over time as I discover more songs that fit, or just old songs in my playlists that I rediscover (I have like close to 1.5K songs in total 😆).

I listened to a lot of songs while writing and depends on what kind of scenes I'm writing. When I need to write sad and emotional scenes, I listen to sad and melancholic instrumental music. But if I need to write brutal action scenes like the ones in Chapter 3, I put on aggressive Phonk songs 😂

For MC's playlist, I tried to fit as many different variations of MC, but I think most of them are fitting for Vengeful MCs in general. Some are also perfect for Ruthless MCs as well. Some of them have fitting lyrics, some just fit the vibes I am picturing.

For example: [Venger by Perturbator] and [Dead Man Walking by WAR*HALL] are really fitting for Vengeful MCs because of the lyrics. [I Chose Violence by iamjakehill] and [vendetta! by Sadfriendd] are fitting for Ruthless and more unhinged MCs mostly because of the aggressive vibes of the songs.

For Luka, it's more of songs that fit his vibes and songs that he will definitely listen to while driving 😁 He loves Electronic music, especially those with heavy basses and Phonk music in general too.

This one's for Ash. There are fewer songs in it because I'm actually still not really done with it (Haven't even made the playlist cover 😅). But the songs there are those whose lyrics I think fit Ash, or songs that they would listen to.

As a bonus, I'll also share two songs that I think fit The Killer 😉

Tim was never the type of guy that felt the need to blow a bunch of money on a date. His first date with Flynn was at a take out truck, and she had insisted on the two of them splitting the largest item on the menu rather than getting their own and only being able to eat half before they took it home. They both felt like they were going to explode by the end of it, but when she grinned at him, grease smeared on her lips, and raised her hand for a high five, he could’ve sworn he was already in love.

Flynn’s dad was never too happy with their relationship, claimed that his raps weren’t lucrative enough to support her for life, and Tim would’ve laughed at the way the thought made the man tear up at giving her away at their wedding if he weren’t also trying to stop himself from crying at the way she looked in her dress.

He was used to his friends laughing when he compared his pineapple shaddies to the expensive wine and champagne someone could find at a country club. But they never had someone like he did that could make him feel like he was drinking the ritziest thing ever by the way she pretended and played the part of a snooty rich person to make him laugh. It always tasted better when he drank it with her.

The flat they shared was small, just a small one bedroom, but she brought so much life into it that it felt like they lived in a mansion, living the life her daddy had always envisioned for her. Tim knew that as long as he had that smile, he’d always have enough. She kept it perpetually strung with Christmas lights just because they were pretty- nevermind the fact that she barely even celebrated Christmas. The two of them could see the stars from their balcony, and every night she would sit with him on lawn chairs she’d squeezed out there and try to make out the constellations.

His truck had seen plenty better days, it was second hand when he bought it. But when she sat in the front seat having her own concerts while he drove, it felt like the nicest car in the world- even when they got weird looks at stoplights from people that didn’t enjoy the free show.

He had never believed in the sayings growing up, that when you find the one nothing else could matter. But even when they were scraping to make ends meet, he never felt like he was without. Flynn was the only thing in his life that gave him the light he never realized he was searching for- the only thing that made him feel like he was the world’s most important person. He could live with just enough money to get by for the rest of his life, because as long as he had her he had enough.

…which brings me to my perhaps silliest idea for this au, (and mind you, if anyone has any idea what i’m saying atp, that i’m only on ep61) flynn as the captain! just imagine like ok. The Librarian dies. and for handwavey reasons the Library doesn’t just hire a new one, and the LITs (or whatever our au equivalents of the cast are) go around pretending they’re just proxies and flynn is still alive and easily EASILY there’s smth in the library for whatever necromancy they want.

(maybe spit as the library??? that’s awful. he’s kind of a narrative tool to give the MCs tasks? he could be a rly unfortunate clippings book?)
