Kendrick lamar untitled unmastered credits

Mani Strings: additional vocals on “untitled 03 l. In addition to his work on “untitled 08,” Mono/Poly has credits on projects from Thundercat, Ne-Yo, Tha Doggpound and Busdriver. Mono/Poly is an electronic producer who is signed to Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder imprint. Mono/Poly: production credit on “untitled 04 l. Both Leimberg and Terrace have a credit on “untitled 05” which would, technically, make this a LoveDragon production. I know this because he was credited on To Pimp A Butterfly and I ended up interviewing him and discovering he is ½ of Lovedragon, with Terrace Martin being the other half. Joseph “Liemberger” (as he is credited on the liner notes) is actually Josef Leimberg.

I guess even for an unamastered project you are going to have to figure out how to mic some drums. Now, I’m probably - no, definitely - ill-equipped to speak in-depth on the art of engineering and programming, but I thought it was interesting that an unmastered project had drum engineering. Joe Baldacci is credited for both the drums and the drum engineering on "Untitled 1." He also appears to be part of a group called DRGN King with Dominic Angelella. Joe Baldacci: d rum and drum engineering on “untitled 01 l. Fun fact, he produced “ Kahki” off Rashad’s Welcome To The Game mixtape still one of my favorite Zay tunes. ”Īstronote is a dope producer from Madagascar who has been featured on DJBooth before. The life of a session player.Īstronote: production credit on “untitled 03 l. I also thought this tweet was kind of cool one minute you are getting ready for bed and the next you realize you are on Kendrick's new project and have to go out and celebrate.

He’s credited on Tinashe’s Aquarius, was a composer on Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park, and he played the mandolin on Juicy J’s Stay Trippy album, which is cooler than anything I’ll ever do in my life. Dominic Angelella is a session player who has some interesting credits to his resume.

Thundercat - It Is What It Is ALBUM REVIEW
Tumblr media
Thundercat is such a weirdo but he is super talented. I believe the first times I heard his name was when he was featured on multiple Flying Lotus albums. He has also worked with people like Mac Miller, Kirk Knight and Kendrick Lamar. I think the first project I heard from Thundercat was his 2015 EP The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam. I highly recommend his 2017 album, Drunk. His latest album, It Is What It Is follows up Drunk and is significantly shorter which was the first thing that interested me about this album. The features that Thundercat gets on his albums can be unexpected ones. Drunk featured Wiz Khalifa, Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins. It Is What It Is includes contributions from Ty Dolla $ign, Lil B, comedian Zack Fox and Childish Gambino. One thing I do love about this album is the short length and the fact that there is a little more variety on this one than on Drunk. The album’s sequencing is great and flows seamlessly. The first two tracks set the tone for the album to do different things and that is what happens. The song I Love Louis Cole is a much faster change in tempo which I really liked a lot because I mostly associate Thundercat with mid-tempo songs but his unpredictable bass-playing can work with any tempo. The song Black Qualls is definitely a keeper. The more funky and smooth songs are the ones I love the most from Thundercat. Thundercat’s singing voice works really well for the style of music he makes. Steve Lacy of The Internet sounds the best he’s sounded in a while on this song. I was anticipating Childish Gambino’s vocals on this song and although his contributions are sparse, he sounds great. Funny Thing is another one of those funky songs I love from Thundercat though it’s faster than Black Qualls. That’s one of the songs on this album I wish was longer. The lead-single and instant album standout on this album, Dragonball Durag is easily one of the best songs of 2020 so far. This song is such a vibe and is quickly becoming one of my favorite Thundercat songs. I’m not crazy about when one of my favorite songs is the single but this song is so good. It’s brilliant but also ridiculous. It’s one of those more weird Thundercat songs with funny lyrics like Captain Stupido off Drunk where the first lyrics are “Comb your beard, brush your teeth / Still feel weird / Beat your meat, go to sleep.” Dragonball Durag is hilarious and also groovy. Some of my favorite lyrics on this song are “I'ma keep on all my chains when I'm makin' love to you / Hold me close and let me squeeze you tight through the night,” “I may be covered in cat hair, but I still smell good,” and “You don't have to like my video games or my comic books / But, baby girl, how do I look in my durag?” I love songs that have very unique subjects like looking fly in your durag because there aren’t that many songs like it out there. I feel like very few people besides Thundercat could make a song like this. The second half of this album seems to be a bit more serious. Fair Chance is dedicated to Mac Miller, who Thundercat worked with multiple times and was supposed to accompany Mac on his Swimming Tour. The second half of the title track also pays respect to mac as well. I guess the song being the title-track for the album is saying that this is way life goes. Loved ones and close friends pass away and it is what it is. “Hey Mac” being the last lyric of the entire album also really stood out to me as well. In my opinion, I think this is easily one of Thundercat’s best albums if not his best.
Fav Tracks: Black Qualls, Funny Thing, Dragonball Durag, Unrequited Love, Fair Chance

MUSIC MONDAY PLAYLIST: Jackie’s Picks
It’s summertime and it makes sense to celebrate with the latest music from emerging talents and veteran favorites. Hear the latest spins from Jaden Smith, The Black Keys, Flying Lotus, and more.
“Go” by The Black Keys In June, The Black Keys released Let’s Rock, the band’s gritty rock return back to the sound that Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney know best. “Go” is a grungy guitar anthem swaying softly in the hot summer air.
“Boys” by Lizzo Lizzo reinforces her fierce prowess and confident demeanor in Cuz I Love You and “Boys,” a jazzed-up rap rendition of beats all about the male beauty and the fascination surrounding them.
“Time” by Free Nationals, Mac Miller, and Kali Uchis “Time” is a composition made up of sentimental lyrics from Kali Uchis’ vocals, Free Nationals’ rhythmic instrumentals, and reminiscent flows from the late Mac Miller.
“Lava” by Still Woozy From Still Woozy’s Lately EP, the opening song “Lava” embraces a sad groove immersed in a distant, lost, sometimes vacant love.
“9 Carrots” by Flying Lotus and Toro Y Moi “9 Carrots” is from Flying Lotus’ sixth record, Flamagra, and is the first collaboration between the producer and Toro Y Moi - its bright, awakened intro and wavy electronic beats certainly do not disappoint.
“Pink Youth” by Yuna and Little Simz Yuna’s sweet, feminine vocals melt smoothly into the warm electronic beats heard in “Pink Youth.” Also, Little Simz’s “intense flow” has its own traction in the bridge.
“Glitter” by BENEE New Zealand’s BENEE dropped the energetic bass number “Glitter,” the second song from her FIRE ON MARZZ EP.
“Sidelines” by Wallows “Sidelines” is a hazy head-bob from Wallows’ debut record, Nothing Happens. “I see you loving on the sidelines” ooze from the chorus (and lyric video), evoking the feeling of watching someone you once loved move on and love someone else.
“Summertime in Paris” by Jaden and Willow From Jaden Smith’s latest ERYS LP, “Summertime in Paris” takes a sharp left turn into the feels. His angsty lyrics (accompanied with vocals from his sister Willow Smith) and distorted synths leave the singer to vent about his current path, his past love, and the world around him.
“ENTROPY” by Daniel Caesar “ENTROPY,” the title track from Daniel Caesar’s surprise sophomore album, CASE STUDY 01, pays homage to the idea of finding peace in what’s infinite and inevitable.
