Smith spends that week feeling very much like Captain Neil has been replaced by some sort of door-to-door salesman. He is relentless in his push about all of the various positives and benefits that would come from Smith becoming his Vice Captain. This, in turn, means that everyone else on the team is now aware of the fact that Captain Neil would like Smith to be the Vice Captain and moreover they are aware that Smith isn’t sold on the idea.

Which results in its own fair share of side pitches and issues that he finds himself dealing with far more frequently.

He gets a surprising amount of encouragement to take the position, the majority of his teammates thinking that he would do really well as the Vice-Captain. Del, Ollie, Karla, and Nancy are the most openly for his taking of the title. The majority are more generally okay with it and think he’d do well.
