@postguilt said: “ you’re a snack , but like , a pudding cup. ” while he’s eating pudding in front of spence.
spencer can't help the automatic revulsion he feels , nor the grimace that blossoms in his expression. ' never say that to any of the other agents on the bau , especially those of us who have been on the team for a while. ' spencer's normal polite , even tone is a bit commanding , strained by bad memories , but not angry , not harsh.
the case of floyd feylinn ferell is not far from anyone's minds , he knows , even years later. morgan still won't eat meat that isn't prepared by someone on the team that he trusts. he knows that the team has an aversion to stew that has lasted up until now , and perhaps will for the rest of their lives.
' it's not something any of us would see as a compliment after the amount of cannibals we've had cases for , ' he says as an explanation. he looks as at the sandwich he had been eating before sighing and starting to pack it away. ' nothing puts you off being described as a food more. '

CM asks: 4. Favourite canon couple
8. Favourite side character
17) Worst Unsub
22) Your favorite character to write for
4. Favorite canon couple
Matt & Kristy 🥺
Loves of my life
8. Favorite side character
MATEO CRUZ MY EMOTIONAL SUPPORT HUSBAND
I will never stop loving him or writing for him til I die.
EM be damned
17. Worst unsub
Great fucking question. Worst as in worst written? Or worst as in I think they are the most deplorable person? I'm gonna have to go with the iconic cannibal Floyd Feylinn Ferell. Like I can rationalize most murders and why they do it in their fucked up heads. Not that i condone it but I can understand how they rationalize it. But cannibalism I cannot get behind.
22. Your favorite character to write for
I really enjoyed writing for Luke and it's lowkey a pity no one will ever get to read anything I've written for him. And I wrote a lot. Had a whole fic planned.
Maybe I can turn it into a Garvez fic. We'll see.
But I love writing for Luke.
But as of who I am currently writing for I love writing for Mateo.
Send me CM related asks

Conversation
Dr. Lode Barren: We can't give you back the last decade, however, we offer our official apology for wrongfully detaining you here.
Floyd Felinn Ferell: I appreciate that, ma'am.
Dr. Lode Barren: You're free to go, Mr. Ferell.
David Rossi: Ms. Chairwoman, I apologize for the interruption, but I have an issue that I need to discuss with the board.
Dr. Lode Barren: If it is absolutely necessary.
David Rossi: Well, my colleague has just handed me Marcus Manning's autopsy report. The ME discovered five of the last victim's fingers in his stomach.
Dr. Lode Barren: What relevance does that have to the matter before this board?
David Rossi: Well, the remaining fingers were never found. And so I have here a search warrant to serve Mr. Ferell.
Billie Williams: I object to this obvious attempt to punish my client.
Floyd Felinn Ferell: You can search my room, my sister's house, even my old place. You won't find anything.
David Rossi: Oh, did I neglect to say the warrant isn't to search a location. It's for an x-ray of Floyd Felinn Ferell's digestive tract. You see, we're gonna find Rebecca's other five fingers in your stomach... Floyd.
Floyd Felinn Ferell: No!
David Rossi: And since this board has just given you a clean bill of mental health, we can now try you for these recent murders as an accessory, as well as for first-degree murder for all the murders you committed ten years ago.

Origins
Spencer Reid x Gender Neutral Reader
Summary: Reader feels homesick after a particularly gruesome case. Spencer can’t buy a plane ticket, but he can try to help recreate part of home with them.
A/N: hey heyyyy- this is my eighth fic for my 30 fics in 30 days for April- I’m very nervous for this one to be honest- idk if it’s going to be a lot of peoples cup of tea- this one had me researching a lot lol since I have no clue about boats at all lol- I hope I did the request at least a bit of justice (sorry in advance if I fuck up any terms or anything) but I think I did pretty well with my research (I think). I originally got the request from @imagining-in-the-margins when she handed it over to me also thanks for some help on the folklore parts too! Here it is-

I always want to hear from you guys so feel free to drop me an ask here- and hopefully y’all enjoy!!
Warnings: ~disclaimer lol I know nothing about boating~ Anyway into the other warnings- Takes place directly after season 3 episode 8 (Lucky with Floyd Feylinn) Spencer gets really fucking sea sick- poor baby, Reader is from overseas (originally Cornwall in the request but I made it a bit more vague) and Reader’s father is a fisherman
Main Masterlist Word Count: 1.8k
The air that floated around whenever I was out on the water, salty sea water or fresh salt water always seemed to breath life back into my lungs. The river that we were boating on was quite salty near its widest point, tides brought the saltwater in to mix with the fresh making the water quite brackish.
I was lucky to still live somewhat near water after I had moved over to America. I hadn’t had the luxury of picking exactly where I was going to live and work when I transferred to the FBI, I just happened to draw all the right cards. With my schedule I didn’t go out on the water as much as I used to, definitely not as often as I had as a child. I yearned often to feel the specific type of air people only felt when on the water, especially when my job got particularly gruesome.
Gruesome was a way to define the last case my team and I had been brought in to investigate. My stomach churned at the thought of our last unsub, his name couldn’t leave my mind and the images of his heinous acts certainly didn’t leave either. Floyd Feylinn Ferell had been his name, though I wished I could forever scrub it from my memory. His crimes were too vile that everything seemed to trigger a memory, specifically of the frozen corpses.
The team had even noticed how affected I was by the case, often sending me worrying looks whenever it looked like blood drained from my face over sheer shock- just like the corpses. Cases had been gruesome before, sure, but there was something about this one made me feel frozen by fear.
I needed air, and not just any old air.
Homesickness was another factor that was making me feel so ill. I hadn’t been back to my home in so long, the only time I spoke with my father was over the phone, no video chats at all. He was just as technophobic as Spencer, maybe even more so to be honest. My father’s life as a fisherman hadn’t made him exceptionally tech savvy. He did know how to work a phone now thanks to you, which was another similarity to him and Spencer. I had helped Spencer learn how to work his new smartphone just last week.
Spencer, my lovely boyfriend of a few months, wanted to help quell my dark thoughts as best as he could with all of his knowledge. His first solution was to always revert to books, which I didn’t mind, it only made him more special to me. He tried to find books that would remind me of home- and get my mind off of gruesome cases that were closed and shut cases.
Hotch had then suggested the team take a day off, just one. After weeks of back to back cases with little to no reprieve we’d finally get some time alone, even if it was only for a day. All I needed was one day to get on the water and cleanse myself of the negative thoughts I had been feeling lately.
It was actually Spencer that had first suggested this excursion. He had come to one of our dates with his arms full of pamphlets all about renting a boat for the day. He also had definitely read up about boats, I’d expect nothing less of Spencer. I had learned it was his way of subtly showing affection, researching anything that I even was passively interested in.
Spencer packed even more than I did when we set off on the day long date, packing to the brim at least one too many bags- to be honest he packed two too many bags.
Once we had gotten the boat out into the water, the relief was almost instant. It was like my body knew I was home. I wasn’t actually at home of course, but it somehow knew I was near the water again. Honestly, Spencer hadn’t been far off when he called me a mermaid on one of our first dates, I had gone on a ramble about my love for it.
The water wasn’t nearly as clear as where I had grown up, much more dull in my opinion. But, the breeze that danced across my skin as well as the water made me feel more at home then I had been in a long time. After letting the mist spray onto my cheeks for a while I looked over to check on Spencer, who was not doing well by the looks of it.
Spencer’s face was twisted up in a grimace, not used to being in a boat. Until I had asked him a few weeks ago, to make sure it would be safe to go out on the water with him, I hadn’t even been sure he could swim. I also wasn’t that surprised that he had this reaction, it would have been less of a problem if it was a boat that I had picked out and bought. But, I’d take what I’d get if only to be by the water.
He pretended to hide his urge to dry heave over the side of the small boat that I had rented for the weekend. He looked almost green at this point, I knew he was only staying for my benefit at this point making me a tad bit sad. Water definitely seemed to have the opposite effect on Spencer compared to me, being on the water always felt like instant relaxation to me.
I still, however, didn’t want him to feel any major discomfort like he was obviously feeling so I decided to pipe up since he wouldn’t tell me himself, “Are you sure you’re ok enough to stay, Spencer?”
He pulled his life vest around himself as tight as he could while crossing his arms around his stomach. It took him a second to answer and in that time I almost started to turn the boat around back to the bay.
“I’m fine!” He squeaked out and I could see a shiver run through him. If I had offered to turn the boat around he’d most definitely have given me a glare, not wanting me to turn it around for his own sake. I squinted my eyes in suspicion, he was not completely fine obviously, but if he was insistent on staying maybe I could find something to distract him from it.
“Do you want to hear a sea shanty or do you want me to tell a regular story?” I asked out into the wind, thinking that might distract him from his nausea.
“A story, but you can’t call them regular stories.” He teased back as well as he could with the urge to dry heave, as if he didn’t know what I had meant. I scooted a little closer to him before I prepared myself to tell my story.
Selkies were always the ones I started out with whenever I told the stories I had grown up with. Despite its dark undertones I had latched onto the story as a child, finding it similar to the mainstream perception of what mermaids were. Though I’m reality seals that could transform into humans were a far cry from mainstream ideas of mermaids, a Merrow would have been a better comparison.
I always gave Spencer the origins of the story, he liked to know exactly where they had come from and how I had heard about the story in the first place, “As you know by now the folklore about Selkie’s originates from Scotland. Well- let me think about what I haven’t told you about Selkies before…” I pondered for a moment before remembering an aspect of the Selkies powers I hadn’t educated Spencer on yet. There was no doubt in my mind that he probably had all this information stored away in his brain somewhere, it was nice to know that someone genuinely cared about the stories I liked to tell. “Selkies are immortal, but they can be killed by other creatures. And I know I’ve told you that part, but I haven’t told you that they are generally killed by sharks when they are in seal form.”
I then went into the whole lore surrounding Selkie’s immortality. My hands were waving around animatedly as I talked, just like how the small waves were rocking our boat. They had definitely calmed down by now, hopefully Spencer would feel better soon.
Once I finished my tale I beamed over at him, my mood had brightened significantly over this trip, even though I could sense that Spencer’s had not. Though the story might have helped, he seemed a little less sickly now. He then managed to ask again without puking, “Could you tell another story? Maybe about the Kelpies? Or the Pixies of Cornwall? You can pick anything though really, I love listening to your stories.”
My heart swelled enough from his words that I thought it might burst. I wouldn’t have expected anything less of Spencer, he always hunted for more knowledge about things he was maybe more ignorant about compared to other topics.
I opted to then tell him about the Kelpies, who were also water dwelling creatures, before moving onto the pixies. He even seemed to be getting attached to the same stories that you favored as a child, and even as an adult.
I looked over at him as I finished my last little bit of information that I felt I could muster up today. A smile filled with fondness crept onto my face, his fluffy hair strewn about. It was cute despite his lingering sea sickness.
His face was remarkably less green now, my stories must have soothed him which made me feel heat run to my cheeks. Each time Spencer took interest in my origins I felt deeper feelings bubbling up, that were more than what we had expressed yet. Instead of voicing my full feelings just yet, I leaned forward to give him a chaste kiss on the forehead. He may have not looked green anymore, but I’d wait to give him a kiss on the lips until after we got back to shore, just in case something was to happen.
“Can you sing now?” I knew that he was not requesting me to sing any silly old song. He wanted me to sing the sea shantys that my father had taught me as a child. Not that I minded his request, I’d do anything to make him happier and I loved singing them anyway.
I smiled brightly as I guided the boat back to shore while I sang, already feeling lighter. It had not just been the water this time that made me feel better, it was also because of Spencer. He had taken so much care to help me feel more connected with home, loving to learn about your origins.

who are your top 5 cm unsubs and why 👀
Tricky one. I had to think on this for a bit. Not in any particular ranked order:
Megan Kane. She's got a sense of style, and I don't know--the whole episode? Really? Who in this fandom DOESN'T have her on a list of fav unsubs?
Floyd Feylinn Ferell from "Lucky" because for fucks sake that's a fucky fucking episode. The chili
Tobias Hankel. I just think the character is interesting and the acting was solid.
Amber Canardo from "A Perfect Storm"--I love the "twist" that she was the driving force behind the murders.
Foyet. Sometimes I think he's overrated but also I like watching Hotch have a bad day (or year)
#ramblings#answer#oh wow i am not eloquent rn and its showing huh#also its showing that i prefer early seasons :/#oh well

Blackout 07 // The Ones Left Behind - Footnotes
This was, in fact, how we were able to identify an unsub during a case a few years ago named Floyd Feylinn Ferell. Ferell used the opportunity of the search party to not only inject himself, but also to abduct a new victim.

Tasty
Floyd Feylinn Ferell, is that you?

16, 17, 18
16. and which has the worst (relationship)?
I don't know... I guess I'm going to have to say Hotch and Morgan have the worst. They tend to clash with one another a lot. I mean, sure they have a few moments that are like, ehh ok, but I'd say they have the worst probably.
17. Who is your favorite serial killer?
Oh, I'm kinda blanking on some of their names. My favorite serial killer is probably Megan Kane or Floyd Feylinn Ferell.
18. Did you ever feel empathy/sympathy for one and if yes why and who?
Well, it's not every day you sympathize or empathize with the bad guy, right? There were definitely a few that stuck out to me, the most being Megan Kane or the woman who abducted her victims and turned them into dolls. For Kane, it was because of her father and that call girl he met. For the other unsub, it was because of her father sexually abusing her and keeping her mouth shut with electric shock therapy and giving her dolls, I'm sure? I can't say I fully understand, but I felt sympathy for them.

Ready Or Not Chapter 1 - Deja Vu
Prologue
~~~~11 years later~~~~
Light streamed curtains signalling the morning as Spencer lay watching his wife of nearly ten years sleeping peacefully. Every morning he found himself doing this before he left for work. The sight over her snuggled against him, made him feel at peace.
Sometimes he wondered how the team of profilers he worked with hadn't figured it out. Well, apart from Hotch but he had been his boss. It had been something both he and Darcy had talked about a great deal once they got married. Darcy had not understood both Hotch's reasoning that would be safer in theory and Spencer not wanting to lose her or their kids when they had come along. She was and still is incredibly anxious about meeting the people who her husband had thought of as family. That had changed however once Emily had taken over as unit chief. The couple had decided that there was no need to hide anymore. Sure, it would be a bit of a shock for the team at the BAU but after years of becoming comfortable with the situation they had both agreed they were tired of the secrets.
All going to plan at the next dinner held at Rossi's, which happened to be this weekend they would reveal everything.
"Daddy guess what "
The sound of a loud squeal catches Spencer's attention, just as his four-year-old daughter Mia rushes into the room. A gapped tooth grin on her face she jumps onto the bed where her parents were now sleeping.
"What is it my little bunny," he chuckles at the bundle of excited energy in front of him. It was that energy that earned her the nickname. Right from when she was born, she was always moving around like she was hopping everywhere because she moved from place to place so quickly
"The tooth fairy came," she grins a dollar bill rolled up in the palm of her hands. Her first tooth fairy visits and she was so excited.
"That's awesome sweetie," Darcy smiles sleepily having just been woken up. Spencer hadn't really been too keen on lying to his children about the tooth fairy and Santa etc. By the time Ava had been born, she had managed to convince him it wasn't lying. It was more preserving their child like innocence really. How could he say no to logic like that? Actually, it could have been her puppy dog eyes; potato, potato.
"Hey how about you go show your brothers," Spencer suggests knowing Darcy would need a little bit of time to wake it. Not that she wasn't a morning person, it just took her awhile to wake up fully.
Nodding eagerly, she jumps off the bed before racing out of the room.
"It's like she never stops," Darcy shakes her head, "and shouldn't you be at work already after all Dr Spencer Reid is never late."
Before he had the chance to reply, they sound of their oldest Charlie curse rings through the house. Well, technically he was Darcy's oldest and Spencer's stepson. Although Spencer had always treated him as his own son.
"I suppose I should deal with him, he didn't come home till after we all fell asleep, I caught him coming in his window when I got up for some water" Darcy sighs reaching to pull the blankets off her as Spencer does the same.
"Babe you need to get to work," she begins walking over to him before he could protest, "I've got Charlie."
"Alright, but you call me if you need anything," He tells her, feeling slightly bad she would have to deal with the unruly sixteen-year-old.
"I know," she smiles peaking his lips, a hand resting on his chest. "Now go get ready."
Kissing him once again she slips past exiting the room leaving him with a smile.
How did he get so lucky?
Twenty minutes later he arrives at the BAU a sad sigh escaping him. Mia and his other son ten-year-old Elijah hadn't been to impress about him not being there for breakfast, and he understood why. It hadn't been that long since he had been released from prison, which had been extremely hard for everyone. That also combined with the latest apprehension of Mr Scratch he hadn't been home much. Thankfully there hadn't been any cases as of late.
"Spence we're needed for a briefing," JJ waves him over once her inside.
And he thought today might be another day of simply just paperwork. Nope that not how things work at the BAU, monsters never sleep.
Once at the round table Spencer looks to the screen for the briefing to begin, Tara, Luke, Matt, Rossi and JJ following in suite as Emily stood opposite Garcia.
"We got a call from Bridgewater Florida PD. The body of Rebecca Strong was found last night in a rest stop women's room, with and without things," Garcia starts her voice tense and slightly frightened.
"Woah," Luke blinks as the images of Rebecca's body and the crime scene appear on the screen behind her. Rebecca lay dead in the stall; both her legs and all her fingers had been cut off, along with a pentagram carved into her chest.
"Yeah and then it gets worse," Garcia's mouth turns into a grimace, two pictures of her fingerless hands appearing with the click of her remote.
"All the tell-tale signs are here," JJ grimaces slightly as she opens her file, her eyes widening slightly.
"Pentagram, legs and fingers gone," Rossi continues
"There even one neat aspect, her earrings and jewellery were laid out equidistant on the floor," Emily concludes gesturing to one of the crime scene photos
"Certainly, looks like him," Rossi sighs
"Looks like who?" Matt asks confused.
"Floyd Feylinn Ferell," JJ answers leaning back in her seat as Ferrell's picture was now displayed on the screen
"A psychotic cannibal who had been killing under the radar for years," Spencer concludes
"He killed ten prostitutes, then moved up to low risk victims," Emily informed Tara, Luke and Matt the three newest members of the team.
"He kept slipping through the cracks and avoiding justice, so people referred to him as lucky.
"The worst of it was he owned a barbeque joint, and he fed one of his victims to the search party," Rossi shakes his head slightly in disgust.
"That is a very," Tara is cut off by Garcia putting her remote down suddenly and quite loudly. Everyone turns to Garcia who stood the seemingly frozen and very out of character.
"I uh I have a computer," she stumbles of her words not even finishing her sentence as she exits the conference room. Everyone looks at each other, wondering what was going on
"Was it something I said?" concern filled Tara's her eyes licking around the table then to Emily.
"No, that's not you," Emily assures her. "Um, we were working Ferrell's case when she was shot.
"Garcia was shot," Luke's widen in concern and surprise,
"Ten years ago," JJ informs them, "happened right in front of her apartment building."
"Just a random act of kindness?" Matt asks the three newest agents were taken aback, but the new.
"No, he lured her into dating him, before she ID him." she continues. "Turns out he was a dirty cop named Coby Baylor and she was getting close to exposing him."
"So, he shot her," Luke voices his thoughts, "where is he now."
"He's dead," JJ tells him, the matter of factly
"Good," Luke nods glad to hear that he wasn't around anymore.
"Let's just give her few minutes," Emily suggest, "Tara what were you saying
"Projected cannibalism. The act of inducing others to consume human flesh unknowingly, you do not see that very often."
"Projection seems to be a thing for Ferrell, he fed the fingers of he then previous victims to a later one," Emily frowns.
"His way of telling us he was ten victims deep before we even knew he existed," Rossi pipes in.
"You think he's back?" Luke asks looking at everyone.
"Not unless he really lives up to his nickname," Emily tells him. "He's been locked up in the Hazelwood psychiatric hospital for the last years.
"Well, then it's a copycat who wants to ride the wave of horror left in Ferrell's wake," Matt concludes that being the most obvious option.
"Statistically copycat killers tend to be vulnerable narcissist," Spencer begins he had been listening to everyone conversation, formulating his own theories, along with what he was going to tell his wife before he got on the plane. "Though overtly boastful the harbour deep seated feelings of inadequacy. Emulating notorious crimes makes them feel powerful.
"Ferrell was filed to be mentally incapable in assisting in his own defence," Rossi informs everyone, "so he escaped without trial."
"If unsub is anything like Ferrell, he's got a taste for it and copy cats typically don't stop after just one," Emily concluded the briefing. "Wheels up in twenty."
Now that they had all been briefed Spencer along with everyone else files out of the room, apart from JJ who Emily had asked to talk to.
Despite only just hearing about the case, Spencer could tell it was going to be a long one. Now to tell the family. They were not going to be happy. With a silent sigh, he pulls out his phone entering a now empty office.
"Where Spence," JJ asks as she enters the bullpen, Emily following behind.
"The kids in there," Rossi tells her gesturing towards the office Spencer was now in. Even at the age of 35, Spencer was still treated as the 'kid' of the team due to him still being the youngest member on the team.
"Probably talking to his Mum," JJ shrugs as she watches Spencer pace across the office floor through the glass windows. Unbeknown to them he was on the phone with his wife and kids who he adored. watching Spencer pace across the office, through its glass windows.
"Not sure actually," Rossi shrugs, "
Back in the office, Spencer waited patiently for Darcy to answer, praying he didn't miss her. Sure, enough she answers within seconds which causes him to smile.
"Hey, honey to what do I owe the pleasure?" Darcy asks from the driver seat of her car. Only just beginning school drop off.
"Bad news, we have got another case," Spencer sighs, "It looks like it will be a long one, I'm really sorry guys."
Hearing this the sound of protest from his two youngest rings in his ears. This was the part he hated about his jobs; not being there for his kids, his wife, his family. Seriously he was the luckiest man in the world, and he couldn't have asked for more.
When he got back things were going to change; all was going to be revealed
Although that was what he thought.
