Running Free por Jeff Terry Por Flickr: Rio Grande Southern 4-6-0 No. 20 making a test run from Antonito, Colorado, towards Lava on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. The locomotive was restored in 2019 but has been confined to the 1-mile loop at the Colorado Railroad Museum since that time. The tender for the locomotive had arrived on August 22. After assembly and steam-up, on August 23 (the only time 20 operated during the Victorian Iron Horse Roundup) Jeff Taylor and his crew from CRRM were finally able to open up the throttle and really let No. 20 run. It first pulled the regular consist out to the Antonito Yard Limit board (to allow 2-8-0 No. 425 to be turned on the Antonito loop). It then cut off from the train and proceeded light towards Lava with a full tender. The cab was packed and there were smiles all around as No. 20 accelerated out of town.
